Fantastic beach front property! Loads of birds around! Specially scarlet macaw! The staff is super friendly! Rooms are spacious & clean! And the restaurant has a great menu! We loved our stay there and enjoyed a lot the relaxing noise of the sea! We also walked to El Chorro waterfall from there! The trail allows to see the waterfall from the top! The views are amazing!

Property is so dated, no renovations, so overpriced for the condition of the property, so isolated, unpacked roads to reach there, at least 45 min drive to go to a decent restaurant on the other side of the peninsula.people were nice. Got some nice pictures on the beach.

Tango Mar is the best resort style accommodations we have ever stayed. And, we have spent decades resort living for vacations.
The Management has created at atmosphere of family with the entire staff and every guest. You feel welcome the moment you step up to the front desk to check in.
The restaurant menu is diversified with meat, fish, poultry and pastas. And, more importantly, the quality and presentation was absolutely exceptional. And the Tropical Salad is on you do not want to miss. Outstanding! In fact, we had a 2 bedroom villa with a full kitchen- and we never used i!!!!
The grounds and pools are well maintained and the entire area was never even remotely crowded, even though they were fairly full.
Beach walks right out your front door, and a trail to a waterfalls that drops into the ocean is magnificent!
If you’re coming to Costa Rico, do not miss Tango Mar.

This hotel is gorgeous and charming! you can hear the ocean at night and can walk the beach for sunrise and sunset. There are lovely pools. The food was excellent and dining was gorgeous. We did some hiking in the area and this was the perfect spot to stay.

We rented a car and were prepared for the possibility of rough roads, but had no issues driving.

We will come back!!

We had a really nice time at Tango Mar for a week. The resort is really nice, the staff are very kind, and the food/drinks are delicious. Highly recommend the tortuga snorkeling tour with Juan and Curu wildlife reserve visit with Ernesto (my favorite).

The resort is quite isolated so my only change would be to split staying here and somewhere else on the peninsula (ex: Santa Teresa or Samara/Nosara) to get a more diverse experience. Transportation between the two can get quite expensive.

I have travelled to costa rica many times and this was one of the most exquisite locations I've ever seen, The thundering sound of the ocean waves along with the incredible pink sunrises can not even truly be described with words. Everything was magical and the inclusive breakfast was also very nice. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and it is a place I will be back to soon! The golf course was also great and a good daytime activity for all skill level golfers.

This hotel is a dream to be in. Waking up to the sound of waves, opening your window to a stunning ocean view, lay down in a hammock for a nap, taking a dip in the cool cristaline water. This is what life is all about.

The restaurant was not that good, and there are very few dinning options around the area, which was the only part that we felt could use improvement.

A lovely sleepy Costa Rican hotel.

A lovely independent hotel. The staff could not be more helpful and it has an old style family atmosphere.
It also lies on one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica.

The food was good and tasty if not a little safe. But the cessar salad made in front of you, was a really surprising win.

We were there for two days over new years. On the negatives, we are not golfers or tennis players, so that was lost on us. But there was a lovely waterfall and sunrise/sunset viewpoint attached to the property. Decor could do with a minor facelift and my only critique of the staff is that they could be a little inattentive at times. Although, their warm attitude toward each other also extends to all the guests.

It's not your standard Cancun style all inclusive instead a tastefully done, beautiful boutique hotel with a Pura Vida vibe with attentive staff, owner, wonderful restaurants, lobby bar and swim up bar with great ocean view. We stayed in the tiki suite, although the style may be a little dated, it fits with the tropical theme. The view was breathtaking, the tub was amazing and we had lots of room with parking right below. The pools were not crowded and loungers were always available. The loungers are on the pool deck with uninstructed views to the sand and ocean down the grassy hill. It was like being on the beach without the mess of the sand. Steps go right down to the sand. The waves are rougher on this beach. They break very close to shore so they don’t work well for buggie boarding, but they are fun to play in and you can easily go beyond the break to just bob in the water. It seriously is such a beautiful beach. We walked to their look out, played tennis on the courts, walked to the waterfall near the property, across the stream and climbed down to our own private beach. While there we went to Montezuma falls for the day (about 20 min drive) and we buggie boarded that beach. We also took surfing lessons at hermosa beach (about an hour away). The ceviche was really good pool side, but the guacamole and chips were way over priced. Breakfast was decent. We didn’t eat at the on-site restaurants because I found places with better reviews.

Great location with gorgeous scenery

Beautiful place, loved the views and surrounding nature. Enjoyed a massage, horseback riding on the beach, and short hike to a waterfall. The first room close to the ocean and pool had spectacular views but I wasn’t able to sleep since I’m not used to hearing waves at night. The second room (tropical suite) was perfect for sleeping. The owner from Belgium was very friendly. What would make this place outstanding would be water bottles in the rooms (prefer this over wine). Also, I’m a medium-soft kind of person when it comes to mattresses, and the beds were a bit too hard for me. But overall wonderful, just needs a few extra comforts to make it exceptional.

First off the beach was great for walking, not at all for swimming but the sound of waves and feel of sand are magical. Beachfront rooms literally make you feel like you're in the ocean. Very mellow vibes here.
The hotel is VERY dated, like a time warp. I think just some new furniture and fixtures would make a huge difference.
The grounds are lovely but remote from anything else. Restaurant was good, can't beat the views from it.

Loved the beach and all the driftwood washed up . swimming only recommended at low tide and even then be prepared to get tossed around . Golfing at their course is highly over priced , we did see some monkeys and toucans which made it worthwhile. If you like the sound of waves this is the resort for you !

Tango Mar is an excellent property in a dream like setting. The sound of the pounding surf is heard from everywhere on the property and rooms are uniquely right next to the shore. We loved the place, so beautiful and peaceful.
Kemily at the front desk could work a little more on her hospitality, and on making people feel welcomed.
My only complaint over all is that the restaurant closes for a couple of hours during the day, so there is no way of ordering food or room service until after 6:30 pm when the restaurant opens again. As a pregnant woman that was a big bummer for me and my husband, we went out all day and when we came back at 4 starving, and no food because they were closed. As a hotel they should at least have a small menu for room service during the entire day.
But other than that, the Room was comfortable, food was tasty and the staff at the restaurant was so friendly.

5 star beach at 3 star facility. The property itself is one of the nicest so far down on the peninsula. The beach was absolutely beautiful. The food was hard to come by. They have a very hard to keep up w schedule for when food is available. No foot whatsoever between 10 am and 1130 am. No food between 330 and 630. Which is awkward if you’re traveling to or from an adventure, jet lag or just want to eat a late breakfast. Also the hotel bathrooms have 3rd world country plumbing. Six flushes to get anything to go down. I thought the staff was very kind, the prices reasonable, just the whole place had a aging feeling to it.

We spent a wonderful four days at Tango Mar. Our villa was comfortable, service was good, advice very helpful, food options very good. The beach is gorgeous, and lying by the pool during the day and listening to the waves at night was incredibly relaxing. The property is not in walkable vicinity of shopping or other food options, so having a car was helpful. Various tours for parks and snorkeling were offered. We would definitely come here again.

Go and enjoy this amazing hotel.

What can we say - the most wonderful vacation we’ve had in a while. It was our first trip to Costa Rica and we had high expectations which were met and exceeded by the hotel. The team were always there for you, always ready with a smile to look after you and were genuinely fun to be with. The food was superb and considering the location was not in a resort area was very well priced. I can not speak highly enough of Hilde the GM who was extremely friendly and always concerned for client’s well being. We will definitely be returning, in fact we are contemplating a long stay in the winter to escape Canada’s cold. We can’t thank the hotel enough for such a great time.

I love this hotel but if you have kids it’s not for you .. maybe honeymoon .. they do not have alott of kids stuff to do . We loved our stay at Tango Mar. It was the end of 2 week trip, and we absolutely love the seclusion, serenity, beauty, and most of all the sound of the waves on this gorgeous gem of a property. The location was probably the best landscape we've seen in Costa Rica, and we also stayed at another 6 star resort/Marriott Vacation Club in Los Suenos'. That's saying a lot. The food was great, service was outstanding, and personal touches were amazing. Loved the Jacuzzi and the Tropical Suites. Walking up to the unit is not for the faint of heart though. Be prepared for the stairs and climbing. Loved the sunsets and the sunrises on the same beach. Got lots of great pictures, but mostly lots of rest. We took the auto ferry from the mainland and landed in Paquera. Took about 30 minutes of driving to get there.

The setting is absolutely fantastic. Located on a stunning tropical beach and in a beautiful park, this hotel could be perfect, but:
- the food was a hit or miss (sometimes really Bad), not varied enough and pricey
- the hotel feels like it has not been refurbished since early 90’s (mattresses, decoration, bedding, lobby furniture should be revamped)
- for an-eco friendly hotel, they should not be serving plastic straws
- internet was slow and system to log-in was archaic.

I’m other words, with the help of a hotel manager that is up to date with 2020s customer expectations, this hotel could be perfect.

It’s a bit out of the way but soooo worth it! This is a gem of a hotel and property with a beautiful sparsely used pacific beach, clean infinity pool, clean excellent rooms. The owner personally welcomed us at checkin and we saw her every time we were out for breakfast and dinner at the on-site restaurant. She checked to make sure all was going well with our stay. Pick this place for a perfect Costa Rica beach experience.

Oceanside Gem

This was an amazing property and the staff hardworking and friendly. We have travelled to Costa Rica several times and this is top of the list for us in terms of where to go when we go back. There was so much to do here, horseback riding, snorkeling, hiking, golf or just sit by the pool or on the beach and enjoy the sounds of the surf. The rooms are updated and clean and the property well maintained. We travelled during Covid and the staff was excellent with protocols and was able to arrange our required testing to return to the US. Loved it.

Spectacular

We stayed at Tango Mar for 3 nights and could not have been happier with the total concept. The location right on the beach was spectacular, the room was large, bright, with all amenities including a balcony overlooking the beach. Breakfast each morning was delicious, fresh, and with eggs from their own chickens. The trails are very scenic. Hilda, the owner, greeted us everyday to make sure all was good with us. We are definitely planning to return.
