Staff were great. Wheni I booked the web site stated there was a coffee shop. There is no coffee shop. No coffee shop or restaurants in the same block as the hotel. Need to walk into the old town which isn't too far. Minimal amenities in bathroom, only hand and body wash. Didn’t like the bed. Mattress protector under the bottom sheet was plastic backed making sleeping uncomfortable. Bathroom was clean and modern.

Although the staff were lovely and very helpful, the room felt very dated and I regretted not having gone to a cheaper hotel in the town as a result. The bathroom was particularly disappointing - the drain cover didn’t fit properly in the shower, the radiator had rust on the bottom and I was surprised that the only toiletries offered were shower gel and hand gel (no soap - and the shower gel placed ridiculously high!)

Great location but bare bones service

This hotel is located right across from (paying) underground parking but street parking is sometimes available. The area is noisy through midnight, especially if your room faces the main square. Rooms are modern. Service is so-so probably because they are short- staffed. The room phone did not work and was never repaired after notifying the front desk. The mini fridge was not plugged in and it took 2 days to get that fixed. There were hairs on the bed sheets. Prices are decent, reflecting the lack of bells and whistles. No real restaurant.

Le parking de l'hôtel, payant (plus de 10€ les 24 heures), ne dispose que de 10 places qui ne peuvent être réservées. Il faudrait le préciser sur le site.
Seuls le gel douche et le savon sont fournis dans la salle de bain : ni brosse à dents, ni coton ou autres nécessaires de toilette ne sont fournis, ce qui est surprenant pour un 4 étoiles. Les verres à dents sont de simples gobelets en papier enveloppés dans du plastique!

Check in was friendly, efficient and quick. Motorbike was in secure, on-site outdoor parking.
Room was clean and a good size. Bathroom was a good size too.
Very helpful staff.
The main reason we chose hotel was the location. A very short walk from the historical old town with all its squares, bars, restaurants and shops.

The room was small but good. However, the toilet seat moved around when you sat on it. I nearly fell off!! When I told the girls on reception they just smiled at me - no apologies!!

Had to wait at reception on arrival for a while as no-one around.

Great location though and room very clean.

Good modern hotel in central Perigueux

Perigueux was well worth a weekend visit, and the hotel gave us easy access to the old town and the Roman museum. It's quite a modern, slightly bland hotel, but it is well placed, with a good car park (about 10 euros per day) and the staff were very professional and friendly. The breakfast area was a bit dark, and our room overlooked the carpark. It good do with bolder interior design and higher spec furniture.

Ideal location we were traveling through France perfect stop as traveling with 2 dogs with the park just over the road. Located right in the city but still very quite. Parking is advertised as on site but when we arrived we were directed to a public car park a couple of minutes away was very secure and close by. The electronic lock on our bedroom would not work when we return to our room after an evening in town after about 15 mins of running up and down to reception with replacement key cards the reception had to come up and override the lock. We were informed that someone would be available in about half an hour to come and look at it but as it was after 10pm already and we had traveled through the previous night we declined. In the morning was a bit tricky as one of us had to stay in the room at all times to let the other in. Would stay here again and the town is so lovely worth a visit

Great hotel, great location.

Exactly what you’d expect from a Mercure- well appointed room, good size, nice bathroom and comfortable beds. This hotel happens to be only a short walk to the centre of old town Périgueux so was absolutely ideal for us. If we come back to the area I’d have no qualms to book again.

Perfect Location

We have stayed in quite a few Mercure hotels and have always been very impressed. The rooms are always a good size and very comfortable. The TV in the room in this hotel was the biggest that I have ever seen in a hotel bedroom! One of the reasons that we choose Mercure hotels is for the breakfast. We have never stayed in any hotel in France which has such an extensive choice for breakfast and their scrambled egg is the best that I have ever tasted. The hotel is only about a 5 minute walk from the cathedral and old part of Perigueux and so could not be better located. Parking is also available in a secure area at the back of the hotel which cost us an additional 10.50 Euros per night but was well worth it for the convenience. Perigueux is a lovely city with some great restaurants and is well worth a visit.

Boring, but it works.

Very businessy hotel in the centre of Perigueux. Little rustic southern charm here - it reminds me of staying next to an airport. Staff are not particularly friendly and were quite sniffy - the guy on the check in desk just decided he was going to speak in English to me (which he was not good at) which was frankly ridiculous as I have a degree in French.

Location is excellent to see the local sites, if right opposite the neon lit local cinema. Excellent rainfall type shower too.

Tired and grubby hotel with bored u attentive staff who prefer to watch read their books in the lobby than offer any assistance. Drapes where hanging off the window, the duvet cover was ripped, no plugs near mirrors, just a disaster.

We are always basically satisfied with the Perigueux Mercure but as previously the design of the bed headrests is flawed. Now they have little reading lights which are far too hot for safety when you lean back reading or watching TV. Previously they had an uncomfortable shelf there - what's the difficulty with an ordinary headboard?

The hotel is in a good location on a main square just outside the old centre - useful Monoprix on one side, ugly cineplex on another. Room was lovely, great bathroom with powerful walk-in shower. Wifi was free but weak/intermittent - mentioned to staff but no response.

We found the Mercure very comfortable and well placed to access Perigueux. Front staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous. Facilities were good and the stay was in all respects satisfactory. For the over 60's,breakfast is free and the hotel might advertise this.

The Mercure is close to the town, 5 mins walk, and had a large supermarket nearby. The staff are all v friendly, and speak good English. There is secure parking ( at extra cost). The rooms are comfortable, with a huge walk in shower and seperate toilet. Air conditioning, and free WiFi. The only downside is that there is no \" character\" - you could be in any Mercure anywhere in the world- but that is very small minus, compared to all the plusses. It was incredibly quiet, and we had 2 very good nights sleep.

More of a business hotel

The hotel is well situated for sightseeing, being only a short walk from the old town and the cathedral. It is is modern, pleasant enough and clean but rather soulless. The rooms are on the small side, there are no mini-bar or tea/coffee facilities, the choice of English TV channels is limited and the breakfast buffet is nothing special. In a word, bland. Plenty good enough to stay for one or two nights if touring but not longer, especially if you like to spend time in your room.

Wenig überzeugender Aufenthalt. Wir wurden zuerst in ein Katzenzimmer mit einer Milchglasscheibe verfrachtet, erhielten nach Protest dann ein besseres Zimmer. Die Kopfkissen des Hotels sind viel zu dick, die Bettdecke viel zu warm und das Betttuch hielt mit den Seiten nicht unter der Matratze, so dass wir keine Nacht zufriedenstellend schlafen konnten. Das Frühstück entsprach z.B. von der Käse- und Obstauswahl nicht unseren Erwartungen an ein 4 Sterne Hotel. Spiegeleier mussten selbst gebraten werden.

Chambre soit disant premium au rez de chaussé, donant sur la place avec l'impossibilité d'ouvrir la fenetre sans se retouver avec la chambre ouverte sur la rue, chauffage hors service remplacé par un convecteur électrique grésillant, une bouteille d'eau ...filtrée dans la chambre avec une eau àavec un goût de plastique, petit déjeuner particulierement médiocre, confiture de super marché, pain très moyen, viennoiserie à la margarine, fruits pourris!! (pommes), et en très faible quantité,des oranges à jus impossible à éplucher en pleine période des agrumes. du clinquant pour masquer la médiocrité!
