Qualité products but convenience and low-end dishes for breakfast. Rooms without Heating so our son has been sick. For 3 rooms Booked, one had no window and 2 only mini windows that did not open. In one of the rooms, There was a strong Smell of sewage in the bathroom. It’s not the standard of a 4 star Hotel. It’s a shame because thé hôtel is beautiful and the quality Restaurant.

El hotel está genial, bien localizado, limpio, habitaciones amplias y muy cómodas, disponen de piscina y spa, el personal es muy amable. Recomiendo la opción de media pensión ya que la cena fue estupenda y en un entorno inmejorable, volveremos seguro!

Great Hotel in a very good location

We had a good overnight stay at this Hotel whilst touring around Spain on our motorbikes. The Hotel is beautiful & well located close to Penafiel Castle, Protos & various restaurantes. It has a lovely swimming pool. The Spa was closed when we visited. It also benefits from having its own restaurant and a good bar in an enclosed outside courtyard. You have to pay for parking but at least it is secure. Would happily stay again.

Nice hotel in historic convent

We went to Peñafiel for a wine trip in Ribera del Duero. The hotel ended up being the perfect location. Convenient parking, nice spacious rooms, good food and wine, with a beautiful view of the castle. The town is pretty much a ghost town Monday - Wednesday, so the wine tour and hotel were highlights for our short stay.

Former convent converted into a trappist monastery

This hotel could be really great as it is in a fabulous historical building. A convent complete with cloisters and a central patio which has had a roof installed and turned into a large lounge area.
However, it was more like entering a trappist monastery. The hotel has only a skeleton staff who seem a little uninterested in the residents. The lady on reception never told us about the spa. Maybe it isn't open? But I saw people in bath robes coming out of a door marked spa. I have to also say charging 5 euros to use the car park is a bit of a cheek.
The cafeteria was as inviting as a station waiting room.
The restaurant opened at 20.30 with just one waiter who struggled with 8 covers. Maybe he was chef as well. The food was very overpriced and the wine list was ridiculous.
The atmosphere was dead. Like people were afraid to speak. Weird.
It could have been better with more staff and maybe drinks service in the lounge area as the bar was closed.
The room was small but adequate. The window looked out onto a wall.
The garden was closed as summer hadn't arrived at the time of our visit.
Overall I think they could make you feel more welcome and maybe ask you if you wanted any tourist advice when you arrive.

The hotel was beautiful, clean, staff attentive. But one of the main reasons I booked here was for the indoor pool. Sad to say, no indoor pool, just a wading pool for spa. It was disappointing. But the hotel is well located.

We had a few things that happened… a wedding in the courtyard, it was so loud we could not sleep until after midnight. We lost all water pressure on Monday morning, so we could not shower.
Small things made it uncomfortable… 1) no kettle/coffee in the room 2) the shower smelled strange and was very slippery 3) the staff would smoke and chat out our back window, at all hours.

What a great hotel

The hotel is stylish & up-market. it has a lovely swimming pool area. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. reception staff were very pleasant and helpful.
The pool bar was closed which was a shame during the daytime heat . The service in the restaurant was a bit slow but the food was very good and not overly priced. We would definitely stay here again as the hotel is very central and the town of Penafiel is lovely

People and owner very nice. Town and surrounding area looks like tumble weeds in Texas in the 18th century. Restaurants are hard to come by. No activities, despite what expedia states (said water sports on Duoro - which the hotel isnt even on the Duoro and they dont offer any). It is a beautiful renovated convent with a nice pool(but closes sharply at 8pm) and a Spa which is open random days and isnt open in the evening. Restaurant in hotel is decent but service is slow unless you are with a group that pre-ordered food. Staff very nice. Breakfast is very good.

Great location for touring Ribero Del Duero wine

This hotel has a lot of great qualities... good location for touring the regional wine bodegas, helpful staff who can book tours, beautiful view of the castle above town, lovely garden with pool, and a nice restaurant/bar with seating in a very charming courtyard. They have an indoor pool and spa, too, but we didn’t use them. The only reason that I didn’t give 5 stars Is that the room itself was rather dull. Plainly decorated, bed was hard, and our room didn’t have a window that you could look out of... just a skylight. Still, I’d definitely recommend it... just maybe splurge for a nicer room.

Surprise charges.

The town and hotel are gorgeous. Unfortunately they’re not all they advertise to be, as they advertise to be a “spa hotel”. It took me a week of back and forth emails only to be told their Spa “technicians” weren’t available for massages or treatments Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. When I complained they said they would reserve one hour of exclusive use of their spa services (jacuzzi, sauna, etc) to which we agreed. No one mentioned this would have any additional charges. When we got there there’s were 6 other people with “exclusive” access at the same time, so we were only there for about 20min before it got uncomfortable the left. At checkout we got hit with a 44 euro charge worth of “spa services”. I told the staff this hadn’t been disclosed to us and she refused to remove the charge. Horrible customer service! We also asked for an iron, which they didn’t have available. The staff offered to iron a couple of shirts for us then got us with yet another surprise charge at check out. A true shame as the town and hotel are very beautiful.

some aspects of the Hotel are not of the level of a 4 star Hotel, specifically the Interior Design of the Reception, Lobby, Breakfast Room, and some furniture on the Common areas
.

Bathroom was extremely dirty with mold and crud on the bath. So disgusting we just skipped taking a bath. We tried calling the front-desk several times to book the spa and they never could understand our Spanish and didn't speak English. We went two messages without getting a response. On check-in they said the SPA was full. Worst hotel we have stayed at in the last decade. I sent a follow-up e-mail to the hotel with no response.

Lovely and exciting hotel, where we got a standard room at the top with a skylight.
Nice and clean.
Unfortunately no possibility to make a cup of tea or coffee (no kettle).

A nice hotel but lacking essentials for what you expect from a 4 star hotel. A handfull og sunbeds where brocken and the umbrellas also. Should be very easy to switch for new ones - that would help a lot for when using the pool area. Breakfast is fine for the price.
Don't make any sense that you have to pay for parking in the parking lot. Where else are you supposed to park?

El unico motivo por el que reservamos este hotel fue para poder hacear uso de la piscina al aire libre, pero estuvo cerrada todo el sabado para un evento sin que hubiera ninguna aviso al respecto y sin importarle al personal. El hotel tiene mucha falta de personal y todo el servicio es lento y malo, incluyendo una ensalada el sabado noche que solicitamos sin anchoas por una alergia severa y que vino sin anchoas

Decepcionado con este hotel. Calidad precio muy pobre.
Reservé dos habitaciones un fin de semana que íbamos en parejas, nos dieron las peores habitaciones. Habitaciones como si fuera una buhardilla, con falta de limpieza y mantenimiento. Los baños sucios y oxidados. El precio más de 150€ la noche. No lo vale.

No merece la pena este hotel, cogeros otro. Que no os engañe las imágenes.

Nuestra estancia en Las Claras fue agradable, pero no cumplió las expectativas que teníamos del hotel.
La atención del personal de recepción fue excelente, incluso haciendo un cambio de habitación debido a las condiciones de la primera y resolviendo todas nuestras dudas.
No obstante, el hotel requiere mantenimiento, especialmente el área de spa, en el cual además tuvimos una experiencia poco agradable; sobre todo debido al número de personas que estábamos utilizando las instalaciones, ya que se nos había comunicado que seríamos únicamente cuatro personas.
Por otro lado, el servicio de desayuno y de restaurante dejó mucho qué desear, ya que en fin de semana están completamente desbordados, lo que afecta principalmente a la calidad de los alimentos.
En general, el hotel está muy bien ubicado y el edificio es encantador, pero no cumplió nuestras expectativas al tratarse de un hotel 4 estrellas.
