This was a beautiful place to stay in the Old City, perfect for the City Palace and Lake Pichola. The staff were really helpful, the breakfast was good and the accommodation was everything that was promised. Taxis are not allowed into the Old City so there is a short walk once dropped off which I was aware of from other reviews.

Room amenities are very limited. Need to provide basic stuff such as shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer and proper soap. Specially helpful to international travelers who do not carry this stuff. We had to go buy it.

Key Info - This hotel is not accessible by car. You have to get off and sit in auto rickshaw to get to the hotel. This needs to be explained and Expedia needs to explicitly indicate this while booking through the app. The hotel staff also did not mention ahead of time until we got there and had to call them.

Hotel takes payment before when checking in as opposed to the usual norm of payment when checking out. This also needs to be mentioned earlier or on Expedia while booking so that customer is informed. 99% of hotels take payment when checking out.

Some staff including the hotel manager (I believe the name is Irshaad) are very friendly. However some staff need training on customer care and politeness.

On the positive side, the food in the above rooftop restaurant is very good and the waiters are very friendly.

The sunset views are very good from the roof top.

Loved the fact that the food was made fresh. The breakfast had good variety and quantity. We didn’t even bother with lunch as we were so full from the large breakfast.
Room was clean and functional. Staffs were very polite and curtious. Mr. Gopal Rawat was very nice and friendly. Irsad and Dev answered all my questions politely.
The view from the rooftop restaurant is beautiful and serene. I am glad I booked this hotel for my stay. I had a lovely experience. I recommend this place to everyone.

There was some weird smell in the room even after the staff cleaned up. There was no hot water either. Staff didnt inform anything about road to hotel being closed either. Property mentions parking available but no disclaimer about road being closed for cars most of the times

Great location right in the old part of city; our room had a view of the lake, which was very nice. Room was clean but be aware that amenities are fairly basic - there is no elevator or AC. We had to open the windows at night to sleep, so we had to contend with the road and nearby bar noise. The staff was very friendly and super helpful; really appreciated their suggestions on planning our daily iteniaries. Rooftop restaurant's staff was attentive and even packed us breakfast when we left for an early flight. Overall, stay was comfortable and enjoyable, the experience enhanced by the very friendly and helpful hotel staff.

Great stay, many thanks to the owner of the hotel. He was great during check-in when he showed us his map and prepared itinerary that made the sightseeing sooo much easier, detailing anything you might want to see or get (ATM) along the way. He had different itinerarys depending on how many day's you had to spend in the local area.

He was also a great help when our flight got cancelled just as we were about to get a taxi to the airport. He helped us figure out a new route and get a taxi that wasn't trying to charge us double. Our room was still available so we checked back in. With his help our crisis was resolved within half an hour and we were back out sightseeing for the rest of the day.

Thank you so much would definitely stay again and the view from the roof top of the lake was incredible, just what you want from a visit to Udaipur

Staying here was like living in a dream. My room had corner windows overlooking the lake. The architectural details made it feel magical. This is India; luxury is defined differently here. It’s more about how well you are treated, and the staff excelled in attentiveness and warmth. Too, they kept the hotel and restaurant impeccably clean. The rooftop restaurant has a splendid view. Too, sitting there, you can feel the depth of spirituality listening to the chanting from the nearby temple and hearing the call of the muezzin, as well as feel the legacy of the Mewar dynasty still influencing the city from the nearby palace.

Gopal Singh made the Rooftop Restaurant a welcome refuge from the lively chaos of the nearby marketplace. Harsh, the manager, is also on his game… as was his assistant, whose name I did not catch. The hotel was very well-run. I was sad to leave. And hope someday to return. If you are in Udaipur, this is the place to stay, hands down.

Jaiwana Haveli has a good location and some charm, but my overall experience was disappointing. Travelers should know that cars cannot reach the property directly — you must stop about 2 miles away and transfer to an auto rickshaw, which was never mentioned to me in advance and proved inconvenient after arriving from the airport.

I originally booked Sep 21–23 through Expedia. When my international flight was cancelled on Sep 20, I immediately notified both Expedia and the hotel to shift my booking by one day (Sep 22–23) and refund the unused night. Both parties initially acknowledged my situation, and Expedia was optimistic. However, when I checked out, the manager refused to refund anything, and Expedia later confirmed it was the hotel’s decision.

After staying elsewhere, I still gave Jaiwana Haveli another chance (Sep 25–26). I asked the manager to consider offering two nights for the price of one as a goodwill gesture — something reasonable, especially given low occupancy — but he declined. While the property itself is pleasant, the rigid policies, lack of transparency, and unwillingness to accommodate left me unsatisfied.

OMG, where to start? First, the photos on the site are exactly as the hotel appears. From check-in, the staff were amazing and allowed us to have our room at 09:30. The area is bustling and vibrant, and the hotel decor reflects the merge of modern amenities with timeless architecture. The rooftop restaurant for breakfast is an oasis in the city. The views of the lake make it hard to head downstairs to head off on a tour. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough; excellent for travelers on a medium budget looking to enjoy the view.

Amazing Location, Service, Views, and Food!

This is a family-owned hotel run by the Jaiwana brothers, who are among the most attentive, helpful and obliging of hotel owners/managers that I have ever met. They treat their guests like family, and no request is too small. I loved my room, fantastic views of the Lake Pichola and the Old City. The staff is as friendly and helpful as the owners. Location is good if you want to be in old part of town and walk to places. Cars will not be allowed to this part of town so you have to take a Tuk Tuk to get to a taxi stand. Most Haveli’s do not have elevators. Rooms are small, bathrooms are small but easy to meet other people. Restaurant is great and good view from dining room.

Amazing Stay!!!

We had such an incredible stay at Jaiwana Haveli! The location is unbelievably good for touring Udaipur, most of the city is walkable from the hotel and there are plentiful rickshaw drivers available right out front. The hotel staff are very informative and helpful - they will give you their suggestion for how to spend a 3-day trip in Udaipur, most of which we followed and it was an excellent trip. They will arrange airport pickup and dropoff, as well as any other car trips you might want to take.

The view from the roof restaurant is unmatched and the food is very good - especially the complimentary Namaste breakfast. For the price, there are so many amenities to go along with the location.

It can be a little noisy at night, so if you are not a deep sleeper, consider bringing some ear plugs or a white noise machine. Also, the wifi isn't very good (not the hotel's fault, sounds like a local problem), but the 5G service is quite good. Lastly, the rooms are located in these beautiful old houses, but it requires walking up and down a few sets of stairs, so if that's a problem for someone in your party, you should call them ahead of time and ask for a room that doesn't require much walking.

Stayed for 2 nights, a sentimental return to Udaipur after 26 yrs when we stayed at the Lake Palace Hotel. Couldn't afford that hotel this time now it's a Taj but the Haveli was a good (though clearly less luxurious ) option. The room was clean and spacious with a view of the Lake. We ate at the rooftop one night and food was reasonable. The staff were very helpful in explaining nearby attractions incl. the Palace, the Temple and the lake boat stations all with close proximity. The lobby staff were exceptionally helpful in arranging an airport taxi, incl. the obligatory tuk tuk ride (taxis not allowed in narrow centre of the old town). Overall a very pleasant stay at a very reasonable cost.

The room was at the corner beside the staircase. From outside anyone can see the bathroom and inside of the room through the window glasses (this is horrible). I have shown this to the manager. I had to block all the windows with papers, bags and other stuffs from my luggage. During heavy rain water was coming inside the room. There was a big opening duct through which anyone can come into the room while using the stairs.

The Best of Udaipur

I cannot say enough about how awesome Jaiwana Haveli is. This is a traditional, romantic, beautifully adorned boutique hotel with the best location and fantastic views in old town Udaipur. The manager, Harsh, is incredibly helpful - he helped us extend our stay, gave great tips on where to eat, what to do, and how to stay safe. The rest of the staff and the rooftop restaurant are equally fantastic.

Is it a little quirky? Yes, there are rolling power outages, and you may have to climb some stairs and traverse a few rooftops to find your room, but I say look around you: What did you come to Udaipur for if not to stay in a place exactly like this?

For those of you planning your trip to India from afar, look no further. I guarantee this is the Rajasthan experience you're looking for.

My mother and I stayed in Jaiwana Haveli from 7th March to 9th March, 2020. On our arrival, we were greeted by Naeem at the reception desk, who not only checked us in but also helped us plan out our tour of Udaipur for the next two days. He arranged for a taxi for a day tour and even suggested places for shopping. The staff of Jaiwana Haveli is very helpful and did everything possible to make sure we had a comfortable and memorable stay. Though the hotel does not have a lift, we were given a room on the 2nd floor. So we only had to climb up a bit to reach the restaurant on the 4th floor or climb down a bit to reach the reception. The hotel is placed at walking distance from City Palace and Jagdish Temple and provides an amazing lake view from the restaurant and from few of the rooms. The food at the restaurant is quite lip-smacking and they even provide tawa rotis :). On 9th since our flight was late in the evening, we requested for a late check-out. They happily extended our stay at a bare minimum charge. As the hotel is right inside the market area our Uber had to stop way ahead and we had to take an auto (easily available) till the hotel. So on our return, we asked Naeem to book us a cab and the cab came in right till the hotel gate. So overall we had a great stay and would recommend everyone to stay in this hotel.

The reception staff were exceptionally helpful and obliging. Two guys who alternated and who went our of their way to provide good service - even giving me a lift by motorbike to a particular destination. The location is excellent - overlooking the lake and inside the walkable old town. I had a large room which was clean and cool. No issues whatsoever. The hotel has a nice and bright breakfast room downstairs. I would recommend this hotel.

First the good points: the location is great for sightseeing and shopping, the restaurant/roof terrace has a perfect view over the lake, the reception desk provided a map with suggested places to visit and a device that allows you to connect to the hotel wifi while you are out and about town. All very welcoming and helpful.
The breakfast is served in a cafe downstairs, the lunch/dinner restaurant is up on the four floor, my room also involved stairs. This was not a problem for me, but I mention it because if you struggle with stairs then this is not the place for you.
Unfortunately there were some problems during my stay. It rained heavily while I was staying here, one evening there was a small amount of flooding in my room, the next morning I woke up to find my room a couple of inches deep in water. I was told this has happened before and was because of the monsoon rain. If you know a room floods in monsoon season - which happens every year - then don't put a guest in that room. The staff I complained to did not seem bothered or willing to fix leaving me to deal with it myself. Then as I was checking out, believing I could pay my bill with my credit card, I was told I needed to pay cash. I had to run off to find an ATM while my airport pick up was waiting, when I returned to the hotel I was then told I could actually pay half of the bill by card. Confusing and annoying.

Amazing service. Naeem and Lalu went above and beyond to help us when I needed medicine. They were always friendly and immediately helpful. The room was large and had a beautiful view of the lake. We were giya portable WiFi device to help us while traveling around as well as advice on what to see and how to get there. Great experience overall. My only suggestion is adding a matteress pad to soften the mattress a bit. The location was perfect too. Near everything and walking distance to major sites.

It's so well priced for what it is. It's modern, new, and staff is very helpful and friendly. Great location overlooking Lake Pichola and short walk to City Palace and other major attractions. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided detailed tips on what to see and do in Udaipur. Our room, while small, was very clean. The rooftop restaurant had great views of the lake and food.

We would have liked another chair in the room; one was not enough.

Nice people, great location. Potentially lots of stairs, so choose your room with that in mind. Watch out for the extra 18% on food if you put it on your hotel bill. Unless, of course, you are prepared to pay cash. Then watch it not go in the till.

Nice tradational haveli with awesome terrace view

Very good food, Nice hospitality. Really a old haveli - simple and tastefully managed. Not suitable for elderly or those with knee problems as there is bit of stairs to climb to reach the rooms ( No Lift) . However the staff is extremely helpful and serve with smile.

I thought this haveli perfectly captured the spirit of Udaipur. The room was lovely and unique, with a little window seat you could sit on and look out of, and beautifully-shaped windows. Breakfast was delicious (Laloo was very kind and good at taking care of his guests). And I loved that there was a gorgeous view of the lakes from the Haveli's rooftop.

This was a three star hotel aspiring to be a five-star hotel. The location was great. The staff were amazing. They offered a 6 AM bike ride around one of the major lakes in order to see the sunrise. I did it two out of the three days that I stayed. There was no traffic or people for most of the ride.

This is a beautifully maintained family-run haveli in an excellent spot in Jaipur. It's worth staying here just for the breakfast on the rooftop overlooking the lake. So calming. Stunning view. The brothers who run it are lovely chaps and so kind and helpful. Beautiful marble floors and staircases lead to pleasant rooms, many with stunning views. Great spot to be in and surrounded by fab shops etc. Beautiful is the word.

The Hotel is preety much inaccessible. It is located, though, near thePicola lake, onn a narrow side lane. Where you cannot drive up in a car. One has to take an auto rickshaw With the luggage to get to the hotel. The nearest lane ia also one-way. So you have to take a longer roundabout route. The rooms are standard, but small. The selling point of the hotel is the Terrace dining from where you get a beautiful view. BUT, you have to climb up four flights of preety steep stairs to get to it.

We booked to stay at Jaiwana several months ago. On arrival we were allocated a twin room despite asking for a double room. When we informed the staff they promptly provided a double mattress and the following day moved us to a room with a view. The service we received from staff was second to none especially from Nadeem, Harsh and Gopal. They made sure we were well looked after and attended to our every need. Thank you for making our stay memorable

Great location in old town in amongst historical buildings and lovely restaurants are very near. Owners cannot do enough to help. Would recommend this hotel. We had a room in the other block to the main building but a very short walk away. We loved it - we had the top floor room which gave us a lovely view of the lake. The room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities you’ll need and they worked!

This hotel do not have a car access. One has to park the car in a separate government parking area outside of the hotel and then take a auto rickshaw to the hotel. This is very inconvenient especially navigating through the crowded streets. Further, the checkout time is 10am which is too earlier as compared to other hotels.
