Reasonable budget hotel well equipped and located

Hotel is in residential/business district about 10 mins walk from old town and river. Room was small but well equipped. Kitchen facilities - 2 plate hob, microwave fridge sink and even a small dishwasher. Room had no air con so was very hot at the time we visited. Parking is available below the building at 8 euros per night. There is on street parking nearby but I am not sure if it is free or paid for. Hotel is 1 minutes walk from river or old town.

Here are the positives:
This hotel is in the heart of the town, a very convenient location. It's relatively clean. Breakfast was nice, and the reception staff was friendly. Our car was at the garage next door for just 7euros per night. The rooms had everything they promised: all necessities.

Here are the negatives: the place was really shabby. Everything was old; the carpets were stained and had long lost their original color. The cold incandescent light made you feel like you are in a prison. Our sofa bed was flimsy and screetchy. Zero ambiance and convenience. No night lights. The bathroom was one of those where the whole room is a shower.

So, really all the complaints are subjective; depends on your personal understanding of what's nice. This hotel had everything we needed; it just wasn't "nice."

Very light apartment although the second bedroom had no natural light. It was comfortable. The kitchen wasn't well equipped, no mugs, sharp knives, scissors, coffee filter papers. Overall we were very happy with our stay and enjoyed looking round Chalon. On street parking may well prove cheaper than €7 for the Appart City car park.

The people at the reception was very friendly. Nevertheless, some probles such as internet access. All paid service including for the internet. Even paid, the internet service need to be improved a lot.

We arrived on a Sunday when the Reception desk is not manned. They have a notice with phone numbers to ring & there is a safe which they give you the code to when you ring, which has a packet with your keys in it. We were there about 1.30pm & because the cleaners were still doing the rooms we couldn't get in till the check-in time of 3pm. There was nowhere safe to leave our bags so we had to sit around the small lobby till then. Once in the room, things were fine.

a modern hotel, but...

great location opposite train station on a modern square. shopping options - ie food are limited in immediate area. real problem is limited capabilities in wifi and especially no air conditioning. the room are very stuffy and leaving the large window opened created smoke from neighbouring room wafting in on the second stay and noisy conversations from along the wing on the first stay. the sleeping experience was just very poor and you cant wait to get up and leave.

Terrible service, unprofessional and unclean.

Awful hotel. The receptionists were so rude and unhelpful. Our room was dirty and appliances broken, grime and scum on the tiles in shower room, half the lights didn't work, no WiFi in room only Ethernet that you have to pay to use, mould/mildew on ceiling, HUGE cobwebs on walls and ceiling, dust on skirting board and surfaces, cooker hob and kitchen sink were filthy too. There was a towel on the floor by the toilet. We booked double and got given twin. We complained to the rude receptionist, who did not apologise at all, they checked room and shrugged us off as they gave new room key. This new room smelt of smoke, again more dust, mildew and cobwebs, kitchen was just a s grimy. The shower had no hook on it as it had snapped off. Then in the early morning builders started using SDS power drills which woke us up. To summarise, they need a visit from Alex Polizzi to sort out cleanliness, customer service training and professionalism. Very Very disappointed by this 'Break'. As you can see i am not at all happy.

We arrived at 10am & could not get into the room until 3pm - no reason except ' thats is the chrck in time' - even though the hotel was not full. We eventually got to our room & it was the wrong room. We had booked a suite & we got a tiny room. We could not open our cases. I went down to reception & the receptionist started arguing that this was the room we had booked. I insisted it was not , she was almost shouting at me. Told me the hotel was full & they couldn't move us. I stood my ground & she then said ' oh it's our mistake we will move you'. No apology for her rudeness. A man came out of a back room, they started talking in French & gesticulating , I kind of knew it was about me & I'm still standing there. They both spoke perfect English. No offer to help move our bags. Never in all my travels have I experienced such blatant rudeness. Appalling. Our suite consisted of two rooms. Much bigger & more comfortable. We booked this hotel as it was 2 minutes from the train station & we needed to catch a train the next morning. Good restaurants around the corner & a short walk to the old town . But I would never return to this hotel .

THE HOTEL IS CLOSE TO THE TRAIN STATION IN CHALON SUR SAONE... THAT AND THE COST IS WHY WE CHOSE IT... SEMI TYPICAL EUROPEAN HOTEL... SMALL BUT COMFORTABLE WITH A KITCHENETTE SHOULD YOU NEED SUCH A THING... BREAKFAST WAS NOTHING SPECIAL AND FOR THE COST IT PASSED SINCE MOST RESTAURANTS AREN'T OPEN AS EARLY AS I GET UP... THERE MAY BE NICER PLACES BUT THEY COST MORE AND IF YOU JUST NEED A ROOM FOR A DAY OR TWO, THIS SHOULD FILL THE BILL FOR YOU...

We arrived very early at 10:00 am and the desk clerk told us to return at 3:00 pm. All in French, which was fine, but when we returned at 2:30 pm he spoke very good English??!! Were able to leave our luggage and then take in the town. This being a Sunday, just about the entire town was closed until Monday. I think the hotel manager (desk clerk) could have let us in the room earlier, since there did not seem to be much activity. Next day at breakfast, we only saw three other guests.

Appart'City Chalon-sur-Saone

This hotel is very convenient to the train station in Chalon-sur-Saone. Very clean and efficient, the hotel has long term guests in addition to those just staying overnight (kind of like an extended stay in the US) with a small "kitchen" and sleeper sofa for a bed. The city is the starting/ending location for a Viking River Cruise and we stayed here before our cruise. The city is interesting with lots of shops and sites to see. Remember that most cities are closed on Sunday. Found nice places to eat in town and walked everywhere we needed to go.

The only shortcoming is that the hotel only has an attendant until 7 pm. After that, one must use the key or enter a password, but we were not told about that. We returned one evening later than that and found ourselves locked out of the entryway. Luckily we figured it out and we able to get up to our room.

This is a decent little place for not too much money. It's a fifteen minute walk into the older part of town, which is probably great when its not raining. The best thing about this place is the fact that it has a kitchen. If you're doing France on a budget (which you probably are, or you wouldn't be looking at this place), shopping at markets (there's a great one here on Sundays) or even the Monoprix can save you a bundle. The couch unfolds into a bed-very economic use of space, though probably better for the young than the old (I'm in the middle). There's nobody at the front desk at night, though, so if you have any difficulties, you'll have to sort them out yourself. I would say that if you can afford a little more, go elsewhere-if not, this is a passable option.

Appart City - Chalon Sur Saone

This is a new Appart City (built 2010) and as such everything stlll looks new. The bathroom was beautiful and the kitchen area with fridge (with freezer compartment) two electric hobs, microwave, sink and even a small dishwasher has not had time to be abused by guests. It has a small table and upright chairs which makes eating easy. The sofa bed was already made and was very comfortable. There was even a small balcony. The private parking was underground and felt safe if a little expensive at six euros per day. Internet access was via a cable and cost two euro per day which I consider reasonable. The whole area seems to be under redevelopment and certain areas, particularly stairwells and garage access have still to be finished. The train station is conveniently just across the square but the immediate surrounding area looks a bit rundown. We used this as a stopover on the way back from the Riviera and despite being in the city it is easily accessed from the motorway. Certainly use again.

Une catastrophe ! Des travaux à l’extérieur sous notre fenêtre jusqu’au 4h du matin !! La nuit entre vendredi 14 et samedi 15/02/2025. Apparemment 307. Je me suis plaint le lendemain matin et j’ai demandé une remise de 50% pour cette nuit pratiquement sans sommeil. L’employé à l’accueil a promis que la direction allez revenir vers moi lundi. Il n’en était rien. Après plusieurs relances de ma part ils m’ont proposé une bon de réduction de 25% sur un prochain séjour. C’est-à-dire RIEN. Car je n’y mettre plus les pieds. Aucun respect des clients. Une honte. Etablissement à fuire.

Bien.placé, a 5 minutes des quais avec stationnement pratique à l'extérieur, gratuit. Personnel très agréable. Chambre conforme aux attentes, pas de climatisation mais un ventilateur, donc nuit très chaude par contre. Nous avons demandé un parking sans avoir vu le prix de 8 euros... mais c'était sécurisé et la vouture etait, elle, au frais !
Petit déjeuner dehors au frais, extra.

Hôtel refait à neuf, bon accueil au 1er etage, bon confort, hôtel très calme, sans bruit et bien isolé.
Par contre, rien n'est prévu pour ranger le vélo en toute sécurité, il faut le mettre au parking voiture de l'hôtel, avec ascenseur... au risque de se le faire voler... Idéalement l'hôtel pourrait mettre à disposition une pièce au RDC, à côté de l'ascenseur, et la ça serait parfait.

Tiptop für Kurzaufenthalt

Das Hotel befindet sich unmittelbar beim Bahnhof und Bushof von Chalon. In die Stadt hat man zu Fuss ca. eine Viertelstunde. Das Hotel ist damit super gelegen für eine An/Abreise mit Bahn und Bus.
Die Zimmer sind klein, aber sogar mit einer Küche ausgestattet. Bei sonnigem Wetter heizt sich das Zimmer leider schnell auf, keine Klimananlage und die Türe führt auf die Terasse, welche ums ganze Gebäude geht - die will man nachts auch nicht unbedingt geöffnet halten.
Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Negativ ist einzig dass die Reception nur zu fixen Zeiten besetzt ist - dafür ist die Übernachtung aber äusserst preiswert.

Nous avons trouvé la literie peu confortable (matelas trop durs) et il y avait beaucoup de bruits dehors (les fenêtres permettant d’entendre tout ce qui se passe dehors).
Nous avons passé une mauvaise nuit, ce qui est dommage pour une étape hôtel sachant qu’il est bien situé , proche du centre ville et de nombreux restos.

Accueil professionnel, établissement propre et studio bien aménagé avec tout le confort... sauf l'essentiel : la climatisation. Ambiance suffocante donc très dur de dormir, toutefois le ventilateur fourni atténue un peu la chaleur. Parking sécurisé payant en sous-sol.

Très bon accueil ! Chambre correcte, mais le ventilateur ne fonctionnait pas, et il faisait très chaud !
Et le mitigeur de la douche non plus ...
Sinon le personnel est très agréable !

L'hotel est idéalement situé à 2 pas de la gare, très très pratique pour les personnes non véhiculées. La propreté est au rendez-vous, même si certains joins dans la salle de bain par exemple ont un peu vécu. La seule difficulté c'est que l'accueil n'est pas situé au rez-de-chaussée et l'interphone n'est pas simple à manipuler, surtout quand on arrive.

Nous choisissons Appart'City pour nos déplacements étapes. L'environnement ne nous intéresse pas. Mais la gare est tout près, ça peut être intéressants pour les voyageurs utilisant ce mode de transport.
Les pièces sont pratiques. Il y a tout sur place pour les repas, même un lave-vaisselle et micro-ondes. Certaines douches sont adaptées aux personnes handicapées. Il y a plusieurs types de chambres : couple, lits jumeaux, séparés, pour plusieurs personnes... des superficies différentes.
Même si les chambres vont bientôt être rénovées, ces appartements sont très confortables et calmes.
Le service est accueillant et même personnalisé, lorsque ce sont des clients habituels, le personnel se souvient de vous. Le personnel convivial et attentionné.
L'accès à l'immeuble est aisé et il y a un parking, moyennant un supplément, très pratique pour faciliter l'accès à l'ascenseur. Le dimanche, vous avez accès avec un code, car le personnel est absent. En cas d'urgence, il y a toujours quelqu'un qui passe.
Appart'City convient pour tous les voyageurs appréciant se sentir comme chez eux.

Mini appartement avec toutes les fonctionnalités.
Difficulté lors de l'arrivée en dehors des horaires d'ouverture de l'acceuil pour acceder aux clefs, le coffre à clef etant situé au 1er étage avec manque d'explications pour y acceder.
