The hotel was modern, and the bedding and all the amenities were very clean. The daily housekeeping service was excellent and very satisfying. All the staff were incredibly kind and always willing to help, which I really appreciated. The breakfast offered a wide variety of both Chinese and Western options, which was great. Although it’s not located right in the city center, you can easily take a Didi taxi to get there. The subway station is just a 1-minute walk away, and there are supermarkets, food courts, and everything you need nearby. I highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a clean, modern place that isn’t overly crowded.

Check-in hotel is smooth , front counter stuff is very polite , room is nice, buffet is normal standard but the bonus is they have a fresh fruit juice everyday , the first day when I went to their Restaurant for my breakfast the stuff there is very polite and nice and good service, very impressed me but one of the Saturday I request a mix fruit juice , the person in charge of the Department staff told me I have to wait, I replied to him is ok I can wait then he pulled a long face , the last 2nd Day before we are going to check out, me and my hubby went for a breakfast there is a funny thing happens to us ,when we walked near to the restaurant entrance , one of the staff saw us then he pulled on his black face and turn his head and walked away, like us own him money , you don have to greet us every day, I'm not urge for that, at least don't show me your funny black face .

I like to commemorate the staff at the gym.
Mr Steven is very helpful and friendly, he not only kept the gym area clean but also constantly going around sauna area to make sure the place is clean and tidy.

Another staff that o like to commemorate is Mr Daniel from the concierge. He helps us to check on location that we want to go and go the extra miles to tell the taxi driver where to drop us as my old age mum is together with us.

Really enjoy the stay in Renaissance Shanghai Putuo Hotel.

Shanghai family trip

The best choice was to book this hotel, we can not have any negative word. Metro line no. 7 right by the hotel. Each one of the staff was polite, very helpful, respectful. The room was quite big, modern, the bathroom had shower and bathtub too. Everything was clean and every day cleaned. The breakfast was excellent, fresh made juices, chinese style dumplings, soups, everything tasty. This way we would say THANK YOU to hotel staff, it was really a wonderful stay in Shanghai.

I recently stayed at the Renaissance Shanghai Putuo Hotel and had a wonderful experience. The breakfast buffet is a must-try, offering a great variety of options. My room was spacious, and the staff were helpful.

The hotel is conveniently located just a three-minute walk from the train station, but be aware that there's no covered rooftop, so an umbrella is advisable in bad weather. The area around the station also features a good selection of restaurants. Overall, a pleasant stay that I would recommend!

Nice hotel with good facilities. But not five star as claimed. No one really spoke English Apart from a couple at reception, including the restaurant which seem to be closed at night; although it was hard to tell. No many bar and I couldn’t find whether there was room service. Smell of cigarettes smoke. Nice indoor pool and spa.

My corner room with work station is awesome!!! Great view, clean and lots of light. The bathroom is awesome with great lighting to apply makeup. So many hotels are dim and dark, but not this one. Its lovely. But the BEST thing about this hotel is Julie Som. This woman never seems to sleep. Notbing is too much trouble, Julie knew i had a question to ask before i did. What an amazing asset to have here at the hotel. She is a diamond. Thank you Julie for all your assistance whilst we were here.

Unimpressed with the surrounding areas of Putuo

We had a malfunctioning air conditioning system in our room and it made our comfort in the room very difficult.
However, the worst thing about our stay was the seemingly depressing look of the surrounding area of Putuo. I only chose this area to be nearer to the SAIC for the F1 Grand Prix, but perhaps this was a mistake!

Everything was good - except, some people in China still smoke in the rooms, and it gets through into the ventilation system and I woke up one morning smelling cigarette smoke in my room. That was NOT ok.

I Was overcharged and location is far from city

Hotel policy says we can change the reservation with no penalty.
When I noticed I reserved one day ahead of arrival (because of time difference between China and USA) I called and said I will be arriving at 28th not 27th, they cancelled my old reservation and made new reservation but without any discount so I paid almost same money but for one day less. the point is they say you can change without any penalty but they fail to say on new reservation you have to pay hotels more expensive rate.
When I arrived at the hotel I noticed somehow my room was reserved for occupancy of two (it is a default in the reservation) even though the only gave me one key but the catch was they were charging me roughly $15.00 more a day for two breakfast, and when I complained in they say sorry but that is your problem.
This is not the first time I have been scammed but I kind of left my guard down since I thought this is Marriott cooperation and did not think they get so down and dirty for $150.00 : but they are just another hustler in a nicer cloth.

Great, a bit far from center but MRT is downstairs

The hotel is located in the edge of the city center. So be prepared to take MRT to the center. The MRT is just downstairs. Really convenient. The staffs are really good and friendly. This is the only 5 star service I had in China. The breakfast in both club lounge and downstairs are good. But do expect some crowds in the main restaurant.

This is a true 5-star hotel in terms of services and facilities. The hotel is connected to the subway station, which is about 20 minutes from the center of the city. Very easy to travel around. During rush hours from 8 to 10 in the morning or from 5 to 7 in the evening, however, it is not recommended to take the subway with luggages because it is very difficult to get on trains.

Nice hotel - Easy Subway access!

This hotel is not in the middle of downtown but it has everything we needed. The rooms were comfortable. The hotel offered the services we needed. There is a full shopping mall under the hotel on the way to the Subway. The subway access was easy and we could get in to downtown easily. In the evening we took the subway in to downtown and grabbed a taxi back. The hotel did a great job helping us with getting transportation.

We speak essentially no Chinese. Our son was with us and he speaks some Chinese, but in the hotel, we could get by without our son because most people spoke some English or there was someone nearby that could help with any translating that was needed.

Around the hotel is a nice neighborhood. Lots of restaurants to chose from as well as convenience stores for all of the little things we needed to pick up. We really enjoyed our stay! Nice place. Great value.

Very nice hotel with mall & metro in same complex

Hotel has upscale look and really good gym and locker room. Pool is small,nothing special. Spa looked nice but ridiculously over-priced considering the options for inexpensive spa treatments nearby. Location-wise, not much nearby from tourism perspective, but having metro stop under the hotel made that moot. Having a mall and grocery store under the hotel was even better! I'd stay there again.

Good value 5 star hotel in the heart of Shanghai

It's good value for money overall. The only downside is the pre-set room temperature making it very uncomfortable to sleep through the night. We raised it with the hotel staff and were told it's set at 17-24 degree Celsius, but it was too warm when covered with blanket or too cold without.

It's a good hotel if you want to rest. No recreation or nightlife surrounding. Breakfast option was great. Consierge service was not great. Not enough door man to help with luggage which you expect in a 4-5 star hotel. Nearby Starbucks, 24/7 Family mart & a Burger King might be handy in China. Club lounge is good and open till midnight. But food service & drinks stop around 8pm. For business traveler the rate of hotel is fair. But if you want walking distance night life for various restaurants & bars....might not be the right choice. I would grade this a 3.5/4 star hotel.....definitely not a 5 star.

The room is nice and clean. The area is a little quiet given that it is near a residential. It has a mall beside the hotel but nothing much except some restaurant and a super market. Below the mall is an access to subway which is convenient because it is hard to get a cab on weekends. The place is 20+ minutes from every significant attraction in Shanghai which includes Yuyuan, Tian Zi Fang, Shanghai Pearl Tower, Xin Tian Di etc.

Excellent stay at Club Lounge level, better than average offering of food and beverages. Comfortable rooms in a stylish environment. Local area not appealing but underground station at 2 minutes walk from the hotel. An easy 40 minute journey to The Bund other tourist areas. Would definitely recommend the hotel for price and quality, particularly the Club Rooms.

All was good, nothing to really complain about.
The room had a large bathroom with tub and stand in shower but it's a kind of open space and there is no door so it might be a bit not convenient for some people.
The location is not very central, but the metro access is right downstairs which is great and very convenient.
the staff was very nice and helped us with sightseeing suggestions.

since the trip is for business, didn't spend much time at the hotel except for sleeping at night. One thing i don't like is the concierge service. They are not attentive. No one offer helps to bring luggage in or out of the hotel.

Just loved this place. Room was beautiful and so comfortable. Loved the bathroom which had movable walls it was huge and had a huge shower and separate bath tub. Swimming pool was a bit chilly and a little plain, but nice enough. A shame it wasn't outdoors. Breakfast was a good buffet with plenty of choice. Location was a little out of the way, but this doesn't matter too much as there is a metro station two minute walk away, or just grab a cab to wherever you want.

I stayed in the Club level, which was (I think) very affordable. The hotel overall was wonderful, modern and clean. I travel extensively, about 75 nights a year and this hotel was definitely in the top 5% I've stayed out. A very nice surprise!.

Great Hotel - Service can improve!

Hotel immediate surrounding is good. Few blocks further out is not the best of Shanghai. Great subway line 7 to downtown in less than 10 minutes. Great hotel for the price. My suite was amazing! They need to work on improving their service. I would recommend this hotel and will stay here again!

Good hotel - very modern,clean with good service. Staff went out of their way to help
Stayed in a room for 4 - worked well with kids as there were two double beds. Room very comfortable with a DVD player and wide screen tv so kids very happy.
It is a 40 minute MTR ride to most sights but MTR quick and cheap.
Pool not that warm - which was a shame as not able to go in with kids as planned.

Newly built hotel - close to the Metro (Line 7)

We are a family of 5 and I booked 2 rooms in the hotel. I requested the 2 rooms to be connected, and got one on the 6th floor and the other on the 18th. They claimed they never got the request, but later on we found the request when they printed out the reservation.

Our reservation showed 2 complementary breakfasts per each room, but they claimed we're not entitled to it, and wanted us to resolve the issue with our travel agent (the reservation came through Expedia). They did not know who hotels.com and Expedia are.

The morning shift guest services manager was much nicer and resolved the problem.

Rather than that, the hotel was great to stay in. It's in a very good shape, rooms are clean, furniture is new, and the breakfast was a good combination of Chinese and International foods.

Saubere moderne Zimmer die täglich gereinigt worden sind , super Frühstück mit allem was verschiedene Nationalitäten für den Start brauchen- aufmerksame Mitarbeiter sowie die Lage direkt an der Metro mit zahlreichen Restaurants und Shops die bis 22 Uhr offen haben.
Ein 24 Stunden Family Mart befindet sich ebenfalls direkt an der Metro .
Wir würden das Hotel jeden empfehlen der die 15 min Metro Fahrt in Kauf nimmt.
