where do i even start? after dreaming of the maldives for half my life, i finally got to go. komandoo exceeded my expectations. crystal clear water, yummy food. and while the whole point was the water, the service really stood out. faisal is the best room attendant who kept my room spotless and was just so kind. kaleem was the server who kept my water flowing and was just so nice. ranjith was the star of the chefs with his excellent cooking and kindness. also thank you to the reception for making my sandbank adventures possible! everyone went above and beyond !

Komandoo exceeded our expectations, and Expedia made planning this trip very easy.

Komandoo is absolutely stunning. It is so beautiful it does not seem real. We found the staff (“Champions”) to be as warm and welcoming as the tranquil waters around the island. We did not have enough time to experience all the resort (and our package) had to offer, as we spent most of our time in or around the water watching (and swimming with) reef sharks and all the amazing sea creatures in and out of the water.

Our housekeeper Saeed went out of his way to assure our bungalow was well stocked. His nightly towel arrangements made with local flowers and love brought us to tears, and made this the most wonderful experience of our lives.

Many experiences brought us tears of joy and gratitude while there, and we cried as we left this beautiful slice of paradise. Thank you to all the Champions who made this dream come true.

Traveling to Maldives from the United States is, well, long and miserable. There is no easy way to do it. Expedia did a good job with our flight arrangements, and we were pleased with Qatar Airlines.

We absolutely recommend Komandoo Island Resort, and hope to return for a longer stay.

We had a great time in Komandoo for 20th Anniversary to remember.A long journey from California but once we step into that seaplane which took us to about 45 mins flight to this beautiful island ....it is paradise!!!
The water is so clear every where and reefs have abundant sea life .
The overwater villa ER #14 was our home for a week.The bed is so comfy ,room is huge and the direct access to the ocean is wonderful.We can see the sunrise from our deck.Full board was excellebt for us for my husband doesn't consume alcohol ,so it worked for us.The buffet was never boring and the pasta station chef Pandian ,can cook delicious variety of pasta dishes.Suchi and Shifsa in Falhu Restaurant were very helpful and friendly.They were always welcoming every meals.Saeed ,our room keeper, always smiling and happy to serve.Making our room clean and homey.The special anniversary decor what a treat for us.Simaha ,our resort coordinator, was always responsive to our needs.Overall our stay in Komandoo ,was a trip of a life time.We will cherish our time in the island for the rest of our life.

We had the most wonderful stay at Komandoo in December. Actually, it was so lovely that we decided to extend our stay for another week. Komandoo is a paradise island and offered us a refuge from all the Covid madness over here. The staff is exceptional, hard working and making such a difference on a daily basis. Everything feels personal and personalised at Komandoo from the communication before our stay, our arrival in Male, the welcome you receive getting off the seaplane and finally when you arrive at Komandoo when you are greeted by the General Manager and a welcome song. We have travelled a lot but never experienced anything like this before. This explains why Komandoo has so many repeat guests who seem to feel very connected to the island and the staff. I asked about vegan options beforehand and felt so much looked after during our entire stay. Chef Alex was always asking for feedback and making sure I had vegan options, also over at Aqua when we opted for a fine dining evening. Generally, the food is fantastic, trying to cover any dietary requirements (lactose free, gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, halal) and everything is clearly labelled. The highlight were definitely the Gala dinners at Xmas and NYE where so much love and detail were put into the food, its presentation and decoration. Our Water Villa was very spacious, super clean and boasted of the most amazing views. The Spa ladies were absolutely lovely and made sure we could relax. Highly recommended!

Service was by far the best we’ve experienced - a small island with a family feel. Perfect if you just want to relax. The buffet never felt repetitive and the quality was again the best. Normally after a holiday, being vegetarian, I am craving something home cooked. I did not get that feeling for the first time on a holiday. We also had the best couples massages. The snorkelling experience was amazing and so close to the island. The only feedback I would have is consider a variety of entertainment in the evenings but that is just personal preference. For a personal experience this is the place to go.

Quite simply Komandoo is the best resort I've ever been too. We booked it for our honeymoon, and I was quite worried, as I wanted everfything to be perfect. There are lots of options when booking in the Maldives, and I had concerns about the seaplane to arrive and just how \"inclusive\" was all-inclusive. All of my concerns have been answered with a truly remarkable experience. The food, included in the cost, is world class. The preparations of seafood, rival any you will find in the world. The service is first class, and the rooms are a personal oasis. The seaplane is what it is, but the experience has been refined as much as possible, and there's never any uncertainty as to what to do next.

If you're debating which resorts to go to, I'll remove all doubt, and say, it will be almost impossible not to have a wonderful stay there. It is truly one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen!

All of the staff at Komandoo are helpful and friendly. They seem genuinely interested in providing excellent service. Overwater bungalow was really comfortable - the only thing we did not care for was the toilet area which had swinging saloon-type doors. The island is immaculate with regular raking of the beaches and pathways. Food waste generally quite good for a buffer format. The tandoor oven and BBQ had the most tender meats and nice naan breads. Diving with ProDivers was solid but pricey.

Some the best diving and snorkeling we've experience. Resort is very friendly and relaxed, with wonderful staff who are engaged and \"real people\". Resort is 20y old but is mostly not showing it's age and the new manager is renovating. We had a wonderful week over New Years.

Excellent choice of food. Great dive center. And a wonderful spa experience. The resort has lots of returning guests and I can completely understand why. I hope to return myself sometime soon.

Beautiful hotel on a very small island in a northern atoll. The staff was exceptionally attentive and genuinely friendly and the facilities were well kept and very nice.

The only downside was that there is only one main restaurant with a buffet (aside from the restaurant that doesn't come with the all-inclusive package.) The selection was good, but eating at the same place every day can get old.

All in all a fantastic resort and wonderful staff. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway!

I enjoyed my stay there very much, the resort is very beautiful and the staff are friendly and accommodating. However the seaplane rides can be very unflixable at times and if you miss yor scheduled ride due to international airlines delay you could easily end up having to wait until the next day for another seaplane flight to the resort, which is rather annoying when especially if you are there in a short holiday.

Wonderful stay at Komandoo

We had a very wonderful 8 night stay at Komandoo – if you can afford the luxury, this resort is almost faultless! I left a really comprehensive review on Trip Advisor for anyone wanting to find out more info. We stayed in water villa which was lovely - we suggest asking for room number 7-15 for the best views. A sunrise beach villa would be the next best option. The all inclusive package had a huge range of alcohol, including 4 bottles of wines in the room, and heaps of cocktails at the bar (which you can get takeaway). The food is amazing with a huge range at the buffet - I miss it! Fantastic snorkelling in the ocean. Lovely peaceful swimming in the infinity pool. Definitely worth it!

Everyone was super friendly and accommodating from the second we stepped off the sea plane. There is nothing bad at all I can say about Komandoo Island. Would Recommend this to everyone I know. Food was amazing, beaches were amazing, reef was amazing! Staff was more than amazing! Only thing you need to know, Is if you're going for Whale shark or Manta sightings, apparently, November is the time to go! Also, July there were no \"GLOWING PLANKTON\". I saw maybe 5 or 6 PIECES, that's it. I hear you have to be lucky for that. They gave us a free upgrade into a Jacuzzi beach villa. Didn't use the Jacuzzi, but was still a nice gesture. Used the pool instead. Which was incredibly beautiful.

We have just returned from a trip to the Maldives which included a 5 night stay in Komandoo. It surpassed expectations in every way.. a beautiful resort, quiet and relaxing with only 65 villas so you really get the attentive care from staff. The staff are incredible.. they went out of their way to make our stay so perfect. We stayed in a water villa which was an amazing experience and the views were picture perfect! The snorkelling right off our private deck was brilliant. We were all inclusive and the choice of food and drinks was second to none..it was excellent value for money.We are already planning a trip back!

A true tropical paradise honeymoon!

Komandoo is amazing. We stayed in the jacuzzi water villa (Eagle Ray 4) and it was wonderful! With air conditioning, wifi, tv, and plumbing it has all the modern amenities along with giant windows, a huge deck with chaise lounges/table and chairs/day bed, rain shower, and jacuzzi tub. The food was amazing. They have a huge buffet with all kinds of options.The service is unmatched. We also ate at Aqua one night and did dinner on the beach one night - both were awesome experiences. The entire staff at Komandoo is very pleasant and friendly. We did a couples massage and enjoyed it! What we really loved most was the snorkling. This island doesn't have the soft sand, but it does have the clear blue waters and it is so cool to walk down off your deck and have the coral reefs right there. We saw tons of fish, turtles, rays, lobsters, crabs, sharks, and even dolphins on our sunset cruise! Only downsides were a lot of smokers and some common drinks like mohitos were not included in the all inclusive (not sure why). Also be aware that while the resort takes US dollars, the Maldives doesn't take any older bills (will only accept the newest version of each bill) and any little rip/tear in the bill they won't accept. TOverall, I would absolutely go back and highly recommend Komandoo. It is truly amazing and I loved it was adults only. You feel so special with the tiny island feel and getting to know the staff. This has been my dream vacation for a while and I'm so glad we finally did it!

Great Get Away

I had a great experience from the start. We arrived and met Patrick (Manager) and his staff and they made us feel excited about our stay. They showed us to our villa and I will say the rooms were so nice. We stayed two nights in the water villa and the beach villa. I will say that the water villa is the way to go if you want privacy. It has a big deck and an entrance in to the water. We went snorkeling and we saw turtles, sharks, and a variety of fish it was amazing. The food was great and the bar was good as well. I will say that the staff was the best staff that I have ever seen. From the grounds crew all the way up to Patrick the General Manager. So if you want a great adults only get away this is the island for you.

We enjoyed the accomodation and selection of food available on the island. Unfortunately the bar on the beach closed at 730 pm each evening. This facility was utilised by patrons during the day as it was on the side of the island which received the cool breeze and would have been great to have had this facility open during the evenings. This view was shared by many of the guests we spoke to.

perfect getaway

It was the perfect setting for a relaxing honeymoon. The house reef was good for snorkelling. Unfortunately, the coral has been damaged by the weather changes and local traffic. There were still plenty of sea life to see during snorkelling. The food at the restaurant was good. The chefs try hard to vary the meals to keep your palate entertained. The staff were very friendly and helpful in organising excursions and helping our stay be memorable.

One night only

We stayed at this hotel for one night only as we were waiting for our flight out of Male.

Positive:
The hotel picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, which is about a 5 minute drive.

Negative:
The hotel is what you would expect for a 3 star hotel, but the walls were quite thin and thus we could hear the guests above us which sounded of parents entertaining their toddler and bouncing a ball. The noise continued on until midnight.

Great stay but poor coordination

The whole stay was great though a bit hassle that our sea plane schedule going to the resort was set at 6AM. We arrived at Male airport at 10 PM and when we reached the hotel where we're supposed to stay overnight, it was already past midnight. We came to know when we asked the hotel to coordinate the sea plane transfer that we are supposed to check in at 5:15 AM. That was already past 1AM in Male. We ended up having no rest at all and paid 150 dollars for the hotel stay for nothing. The sea plane transfer schedule should have been communicated to us in advance.

Our favorite holiday!

Very romantic. A gorgeous location! We stayed in one of the overwater bungalows and it was magnificent. The \"house reef\" that you can simply walk out to is quite impressive and actually better than many of the reefs to which a boat trip is required. Such a lovely and cozy setting. The service is truly wonderful and the food is delicious and diverse. There is something (many things!) for all tastes!

A piece of paradise...

Well, I am sure there are some even more luxurious resorts in the Maldives than Komandoo. But why would you want to stay there.
We had the most amazing Maldives experience at Komandoo that we could think of. It doesn't offer everything...but what it offers it does so with style and class. The luxury is the simplicity and the attention to detail.
A beautiful, quiet place in paradise with a friendly and helpful staff. We'd go back tomorrow if we could.

It is worth the extra cost for the relaxation and direct access to the ocean. The staff is friendly, the food is great, and the house reef has the best snorkeling I've experienced. Beautiful Resort in a far away shores

The Resort is in the middle of the ocean in a faraway shores is so deeply woven into my psyche that it’s practically instinctual. Stayed at the Overwater bungalow (Eagle Ray 12) from 14 - 18 Apr and it was fantastic! Imagine waking up and immediately watch a sunrise on the horizon with a cup of nespresso coffee? After sunrise, go for a dip in the sea with your snorkel gear for an hour? Have a rain shower after snorkeling and go for a full buffet breakfast? After breakfast, read a book and then go for more underwater escapades? If you are only imagining, wait no further! Komandoo is the place you will want to be in! Rooms are clean and the bathroom is impeccable! Cocktails and beers are inexpensive for a country with exorbitant resort prices. Food was always plentiful and service from the staff is thoughtful and attentive yet gives you the space when you need it! We have met many couples who return on a yearly pilgrimage to Komandoo and this must mean that the Komandoons are doing many things right. And yes, my partner and I will be saving up for the next trip back to Komandoo!

Service?? What a disappointment !!

It was supposed to be an enjoyable birthday celebration but it didn't end the way I want it to be. First, room service staff let himself into our room to collect back the tray. He was not apologetic when he saw us still in the room. Next we realized they charged another room room service to ours. The resort is not at 100% occupancy, but such thing could happen. The worst to happen is that they got our departure time wrong. Our flight is 12pm but they scheduled us to leave the resort via seaplane at 2pm! When we called up the reception, the staff didn't bother to understand us and keep insisting that's the latest time we can leave the resort. Only when we shouted that leaving at 2pm will miss our international flight then it dawn on him. After which, staff told us we were scheduled on the 9.30am seaplane and butler will pick up our luggages at 8am. Needless to say, no one came. We had to lug the luggages across the resort ourselves. I'll never stay in Komondoo again nor recommend to anyone.

most beautiful and luxurious \"deserted\" island

from the moment we touched the jetty, it was heaven on earth. the warm greetings and cheers from staff welcomed us at the reception area. the people are great, the surroundings are clear waters and perfect beaches.

the water villa was fantastic, it has wifi, fully stocked minibar and wine fridge, which is good considering water villas are at the opposing ends from the restaurants.

water sports equipment are readily available at a reasonable price. the food at both the buffet included in full board and the ala carte restaurant is very good.

we stayed 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thankyou Komandoo!

Experience of a lifetime that should never end

Arrival in Male is an experience in itself. Waiting in the transfer lounge sets the tone as you look over the harbour with boats and seaplanes heading in and out. The weather, I hear you ask? Well, the pilots are wearing shorts and are bear-footed in the cockpit... You board the seaplane and once airborne you can't stop taking pictures of the sight below you. Endless atolls and islands covered in white sand stretch out as far as the eye can see!

The sea plane starts to descend and you wonder which island resort you are destined for. Plane lands in the ocean and a boat in the distance comes to dock! Ok! The shock of it all as you transfer to the boat and then set sail over the sunbathed ocean, then resort starts to appear in the distance! There's a welcome team who sing and welcome you with coconut ice cream and coconut drinks to cool you down just a touch. Pleasantries out of the way, you are encouraged to take your shoes off and enjoy what awaits your stay.

The rest is history!

A fantastic getaway!

I really needed to get away for a week and recharge ~ Komandoo was the perfect place to do that. Besides the wonderful natural environment, the people of Komandoo Resort were just great, there with good questions if you needed them, not in the way if you just wanted to hang out or explore. They were very friendly, sincere and just a lot of fun to be around. We did take advantage of an overnight stay in Kuredu, and although we had nothing negative to say about that island, heading back to Komandoo for our last few days felt like coming home. I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit!

You Get What You Pay For

For the price, this place can't be beat. Definately. The underwater life is beautiful, even if just snorkeling. The excursions are great, many of them free for the first time. It's a small island so it's relaxing to walk around.

Toiletries 5/10.
Soap, Towels, Body Lotion. All supplied. Shaving kit, toothpaste, q-tips. None included. You had to buy your own from the convenient store. Which I think is total BS.

Buffet Food: 5/10
I've tasted much better. We were there for Italian, Indian, and Chinese night. All those nights the food was mediocre to taste. Just very unhappy with the food.

I had a lobster which most people who've been to Maldives will know is really rare to enjoy and it was great. Wonderfully made, the potato,pea salad along with it was also really well done. My wife had the fried ice cream and unfortunately that didn't fair too well. But the chef seen that we didn't enjoy it all that much and made us a complimentary replacement which was amazing. The price was also really balanced. We paid $80.

Biggest Nuisance:
It was a gecko in the room which would not let us sleep for the entire time we were there. Every two hours it would let out a loud chirp and wake us up. Really annoying. And it couldn't be shoo'd away or killed since there were tons of crawl space for it to hide in.

But overall, if I'm guaranteed no gecko in the room, I'd go again. Just bring my toiletries with me though :)

Dream island

I enjoyed very much my relatively short (6 nights), post-diving safari, stay in Komandoo Resort in February 2011. The island is peaceful and beautiful, in an understated sort of way, with no screaming kids and not too many honeymooners around (I travelled solo). The villas are tastefully decorated, spacious and very clean.

The food was very good, but the selection was somewhat limited (I wish they had more choice of local fish). One recommendation: the mangement should install more modern shower heads in the bathrooms in order to increase the water pressure, which was somewhat weak.

Incredible introduction to the Maldives!

Komandoo is absolutely beautiful! The dive facilities were top rate, the beach bungalow we stayed in was just feet from the gorgeous lagoon that was a dream for swimming and snorkelling. We swam with sea turtles almost daily and the sea life was abundant and colourful! The beach was pristine and the food was always wonderful and never boring. If you are looking for a very relaxing and peaceful vacation with the most beautiful views and sunsets you can imagine, Komandoo is the place. Even the bar that sits on the edge of the water was paradise itself.

Romantik Urlaub im Paradies

Eine paradiesische Insel. Wir waren häufig am Hausriff schnorcheln, Equipment kann man sich gegen Gebühr dort leihen. Das Wasser ist wirklich so schön türkis wie auf den Bildern, man glaubt es kaum. Alle Angestellten sind sehr freundlich.

It will not be much better than this if you are looking for a dream island with the highest quality of service. At Komandoo you get an experience of the very highest class. For example when we arrived on the island, my wife and i were personally welcomed by the island's General Manager Mr. Solah who is a true gentleman. From day one we have been treated as friends. This is what make Komandoo special and that we will have with us forever. After this trip it will be difficult to compare other destinations with Komandoo.

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Toller Urlaub. Einzig die Klimaanlage wäre besser nicht direkt neben dem Bett platziert und neueres, leiseres Modell wäre wünschenswert. Kopfpolster zu hoch. Auf Anfrage auch kein dünnerer zu haben.

La misma cadena hotelera tiene otros mejores

El “All Inclusive Package” es bastante pobre (por no decir algo peor) teniendo en cuenta el precio que pagas. Las bebidas son marca blanca, como cócteles ni siquiera incluyen un simple “Mojito” y no tienen comidas entre horas, te invitan a un simple té. Las Villas sobre el agua están muy lejos y la oferta de deportes acuáticos es muy limitada y, como no, añadiendo “dólares” a tu cuenta. La comida del buffet es bastante buena y el servicio de los camareros también. Lo mejor, las habitaciones y su servicio de limpieza y descubierta.
