Hotel was in a convenient location with amazing views from the terrace and roof top. Easy access to parts of the city by funiculars that were close by. Downside was that roof top was off limits to guests for two of the three days staying at the hotel. We booked here because of the pool and outdoor terraces and common areas and we could not use these areas because of outside events booked by the hotel. On the day we were able to use the pool at 5 pm because we had to vacate due to yet another wedding that was happening that evening. It would have been helpful if the hotel could have informed us of the limited access before the deadline for cancellation given the restriction on hotel amenities.

Some of the lower scores are down to this is an old converted building. However the room had a damp smell and the fittings were not of great standard.
Napoli is a busy city and has its own identity so don’t be surprised by the graffiti, busy noises narrow streets.
The staff were excellent btw.
There is parking available, but be aware driving around the city with its steep and narrow streets provide much jeopardy.
The view of the city is great and the 4th floor bar is nice. We would advise walking to the town and using lime bikes to get back

The hotel was beautiful. The history is amazing. The food is not good. We ate there twice. It was very expensive and was not very good. The “burger” was loaded with cheese. I like cheese, but it had a ridiculous amount. We had dinner and it was pretentious.

The rooftop terrace and restaurant alone make this property worth booking. Amazing views of Napoli and the bay day and night. The location is wonderful up on the hill out of the real hustle and bustle but also very accessible to everything with just a walk down the stairs right outside the hotel. Only one con for me was the lighting in the bathroom. Just a little dark and I forgot my lighted magnifying makeup mirror so getting ready was a bit of a challenge. I would definitely stay here again. Super comfy bed as well.

This was my second stay at SFM and I loved it just as much the first time. The front desk staff remembered me from my previous visit two summers ago and was so warm during check-in. The views are the best in Napoli and the rooftop pool and bar are top rate. This is my go-to hotel in Napoli.

Hotel SFM was an amazing find. We only had one night but could have stayed longer. They arranged to pick us up at the port and the hotel is very close, yet situated on the mountain with amazing views of the Bay of Naples. An old monastery, the building itself is very interesting and the artwork spectacular. They also have a small pool where you can have a light lunch and the main restaurant is truly fabulous. Lastly, although we left very early, as our room included breakfast they actually packed a to-go bag for us which was very thoughtful. 5* from this recent guest.

This was a really old hotel which we normally like and is beautiful. However the bed was very hard, the AC barely worked and had zero hot water the next morning before we flew out. I mentioned to the clerk at checkout but he seems unfazed and didn’t speak English. Not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel.

Naples the city itself is an actual dump! That said this is the nicest hotel and I believe it. Rooms were just ok. Bathrooms were nice. Staff was hit and miss with most being rude just as the rest of the people in the city are. The staff just stared at us and talked about us as we struggled to get our luggage up and down the steps. The pool looks amazing in the pics but is actually just subpar. They must’ve had a professional photographer. The views from the hotel are great.

We had a lovely couple of nights stay. The hotel has a nostalgic charm, the service was excellent from check in, restaurant and bar staff. The pool and accompanying views were a joy and very welcome on a hot Saturday afternoon, as were the frozen margaritas!

Perched high above the busy Napoletana streets it’s a gorgeous view of busy life below both on land and the sea. Our favorite aspect was the terrace for drinks with always attentive and courteous service. Had a lovely sunset dinner as well (a big shout out to the super-sweet Stefani who also worked the breakfast area where you can order espresso drinks!). Checkout Floor 3 for the artwork and historical context (is a converted monastery). Located where you can easily access the cable car up the mountain to the castle or down to Toledo Street’s busy shopping. Highly recommend.

A lovely hotel with a stunning view from our room on the fifth floor. Reception staff were cheerful and helpful. Used the “funicolare” several times to avoid the steep walk to or from the historical centre.
Enjoyed dinner outside on 4th floor terrace ( same location as breakfast).
Only negative was that the room air conditioner could not cope with the outside heat of June.
Note there is no bottled water or kettle or fridge in the room.
Grateful to receive a takeaway breakfast due to early checkout.

The property grounds are very beautiful and unique - it used to be a monastery and has so many historic pieces, giving the hotel so much character. The view from the top terrace is absolutely beautiful- you can see the whole city, the gulf and Mt Vesuvius.
The room was decently sized and clean with acceptable amenities.
My reasoning for four stars is the lack of water available at the reception - when you are returning from an excursion in the city and its boiling hot, I think the least the hotel could do is have a water fountain available for guests at the reception. Pretty much every hotel I’ve stayed at before had water available at the reception.
The breakfast was a little disappointing - there were not that many options, the pastries were stale and they have the cheese slices mixed in with the cold cut meat so as a vegetarian I could not eat the cheese due to contamination risk. Please separate the cheese from the meat and have more options for vegetarian/vegan guests.

Great views over Naples and Vesuvius - high above bustle of the city. Old fashioned monastic charm but some rooms could do with updating (tiny plastic shower). No complimentary drinking water offered in the room . Lovely terrace for drinks and meals - beware thieving seagulls. No fresh orange juice at breakfast. Dinner was good. Will happily stay again. Valet parking a bonus.

Really cool old monastery converted into a hotel, however, nothing has been upgraded. This hotel has so much potential, but the owner needs to put some work into it. Restaurant is so so front desk is front desk is accommodating, but not. Frankly is kind of a creepy hotel. There are secret, staircases and underground tunnels that go to weird places. Very hard to find your way around the hotel would not stay here again. Feels like it’s in an unsafe neighborhood

Such a lovely hotel that is very unique and charming! The rooms are beautiful, bathrooms and shower wonderful, so glad we stayed here. The pool and roof top so relaxing and the view of the city, port and Mount Vesuvio were spectacular. Our dinner was excellent and service outstanding. Convenient and short ride to the airport. We wished we had more time to spend here but we had events that took up much of our time. The pool area is gorgeous, the restaurants and food choices are fantastic. They had the best brioche I’ve ever eaten in the breakfast buffet. So fresh delicate & buttery. I definitely overindulged:) The staff is welcoming and very professional. The check in/check out process seamless. There are secret chambers off of the 3rd floor of this old monastery that are open to explore & super cool- we felt like children again adventuring down the stairs cut into the rock. Beauty in every corner. The views of Vesuvius from the breakfast area are beyond incredible. Bravo to the staff:)

Very nice hotel — though the views of Naples are what make it special. Nice rooms. The pool is small but nice (mostly adults in it though our kids enjoyed it). Restaurant for lunch was quite good; the breakfast was fine but nothing special. Not in the center of town and best to cab in if you need to — but easy to get a taxi.

Spectacular respite from the city’s intensity

Simply put, the view makes it all worthwhile. It is spectacular. The room was also very nice, with a spacious bathroom and a comfortable bed. WiFi was reliable too. Bring comfortable shoes and take advantage of the opportunity to walk both above and below the hotel in the neighborhoods on endless stairs and inclines. And don’t believe rumors about dangerousness of the streets, except perhaps motos coming around a corner too fast. Napoli is the least “European” city in the best way possible, but this hotel offers a quiet and comfy respite from the city’s beautiful chaos.

The air conditionin unit in our room was incredibly noisy and almost unusuable. We had to get up at 3 am to open the windows to cool the room. We were unable to sleep comfortably due to the noise.
The A/C unit sounded like it was coming apart.
I reported the problem to the front desk in the morning, and i was told that a technician was going to check the unit up.
The next evening, the problem was exactly the same, either their maintenance person(s) are incompetent, or they jist don't care to fix the unit, probably to save money.
I would strongly warn any possible victims that are planning to spend any time in this hotel during the upcoming summer months !!

An amazing hotel, with views to die for and the people working there were very professional, polite and engaging!

The views from the bar/ terrace area, as well as the roof were breathtaking! Our view from our sea view room was also excellent, all be it a very small window.

My biggest disappointment was the air conditioning or lack of it as the hotel was unbelievably hot, with the heating on full!
I was there for 3 nights and after having an engineer look at the air conditioning, it worked but made the most horrific noise the whole time when on, and it kept flicking on and off every 5mins, which made sleeping almost impossible.

This definitely played its part in our stay and would most likely make me avoid in high summer!
