We arrived at 2 pm as per check in time and were told in an abrupt tone that the room would be available after 3 pm. The receptionist was rude and was reluctant to help us with information regarding dining options.
Once we had the room, our request for an ironing board was completely ignored.
This hotel is a total catfish, please avoid! Everyone who works there looks very downcast and subdued, we were so relieved tonleave after our 1 night stay.The spa is only open 2 hours a day and the gym has very limited equipment.

Travelling with a sick child meant we were unsure if we were going to make it to the accomodation on time or even what time. Phoned up to see if we could change the check in time and book an addition date, the lady was unhelpful, rude, and demanded to know if we would be ‘no shows’ as she would give our room away, despite paying for it - we did not know at the time (this was 2 days prior) if we could make it and what time as it depended on our baby and travel.

The pool hours are ridiculous - it shuts at 6:30pm. The ‘indoor’ pool is part of a ‘spa’ and costs $25 euro for 1 hour.

No room amenities, like coffee or tea, or irons. Had to ask at the front reception and was told it would be delivered to our room - it never showed. Had to ask again and it came 6 hours later.

The rooms are nice enough. Wouldn’t stay here again, though. .

Enjoyed my stay at the hotel great pleasant staff. Only issue I paid for a double bed and single bed but when arrived there was only a double and only option was to split the bed into two singles. Wasn't entirely happy as I paid for another option but they dealt with the issue very swiftly.

The Mercure is well located, had plenty of parking space, a nice pool and English speaking friendly staff. The breakfast is basic, but good enough for the day at the beach. Pool/Beach towel will cost you €3 to rent. There’s a good steak house and Japanese restaurant near the hotel. We definitely recommend this hotel!

I liked the location as it provided easy walking access to the old town and good connections for buses and trains to explore other parts of the island. The hotel has an excellent gym and contrary to other reviews, it was available without charge. Staff were friendly and courteous, but at times ineffective.
Unfortunately, we encountered a string of problems during our stay. Some of these were addressed, but many were not.
Room cleaning was often perfunctory, for example the layer of dust behind the headboard.
Safe in room did not work, but they replaced it promptly
Sockets near the desk area were unsafe and pulled out of the wall when used. Major safety issue.
Reading light by bed broken. It took two days to get fixed
Entrance light to room didn’t work, it never got fixed.
Fixtures and fittings such as the clothes rack were broken.
Breakfast was very limited, and items frequently ran out. Staff were overworked so struggled to replenish eggs, bread etc. Bread was poor quality as was the fresh fruit
Breakfast choice is very limited, especially for vegetarians.
On our last day we made a formal complaint about the above. We were seen by the bookings manager who promised to raise the matter with the general manager. She said that we would receive compensation, but 7 days after returning no communication from the management. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this hotel and my experience of staying there has now damaged my view of other Mercure and All Accor hotels.

The hotel has some new suites; and some 80s suites. Unfortunately we didn’t check the photos well enough and ended up in the 80s. An uncomfortable bed, no where to sit except a broken chair, a bathroom with cracked tiles and a tiny square shower. So if you get room 134 ask to move.

Don’t even start me with breakfast- everything comes out a packet. Not a fresh fruit juice or a good cup of coffee in sight!

We paid €800 for 4 nights which is outrageously over charged for the standard.

Hotel has everything needed for a few days accommodation. Pool area is good, breakfast excellent, rooms were comfy and air conditioning made it cool on very hot days.
The area is not great but only five mins walk to old town, shops and restaurants.

The property is a bit tired. The walls were paper thin so you could hear the neighbouring room very clearly.

Our key didn’t operate the electrics in the room and we had to call to get it repaired everyday during our stay.

Our shower was broken and not repaired during our stay.

We asked reception to book a taxi for us and a 4 mile trip cost us 32 euro.

The two main troubling problems we experienced are:
- checkin and breakfast staff were rude.
- shower drainage in our room was blocked and overflowed our entire bathroom floor after 1 minute of showering.

Other minor thing a such as broken elevator buttons, key card entering the room was faulty.

While I was searching for a hotel in Olbia one photo got my intention. An amazing beautiful indoor pool from Mercure. That was my main reason to pick Mercure rather any other hotel. After my check in I decided to chill a bit at the indoor pool before go for dinner, for my surprise this pool isn’t available for all the guests! If I wanted to use it, I have to pay €18 and use only for 2 hours!
They told me this pool isn’t part of the hotel, however, it’s on - 1 floor. Okay, let’s pretend that’s not part of the hotel. Why use this pool as main picture here on Hotels.com? Why there’s no info on my booking about this pool rules? I felt cheated and I don’t have intentions to be guest of any other Mercure in my life.

The spa is not included in the room price. This is not hotels.com's fault but rather the way the property chooses to advertise itself on this platform. It's very misleading that the main pictures of this hotel are the spa, but it does not state in three property details that it costs an extra 18 Euros.

Good, quiet location a 10min stroll from the cafe area.
Room was large with a good sized bed, plus a coffee machine in the room made a change.
Decent selection for breakfast for breakfast, if muesli & toaat is your thing. Unfair, but hotel breakfasts pretty much the same things everywhere now.
However, the shower didnt fit the holder, and would fall out often. It only has to land on your toe once & showering becomes a literal, pain.
The wifi in the room was lousy, may as well not have it as it dropping out every few minutes.
The A/C was inadequate to cool a room so large so while the entrance to the room was cool, the room wasnt.
There's not much i want from a hotel room after work. Get clean & relax on a cool bed looking at daft video clips maybe. In that respect, the hotel failed.

Upon check in we asked for an additional key card. We were told we couldn’t have one until other guests had checked in and they could tell if they had enough keys for everyone? We were told too many people had lost keys. I don’t care how many people lose their key cards, you are a hotel and planning for key inventory is your job. Additionally, no one told us that the “free” beach shuttle had to be booked in advance and only ran two times per day to the beach. Breakfast was good, but during the day food choices were too limited. Also, no shop on site for snacks or toiletries. All in all, not the best hotel. It was clean, beds and pillows were comfortable, shower was great, pool area was very nice and bar staff was excellent.

I liked the style of the property. The location for the airport was perfect. It also was a great base to explore the Costa Smarelda. The staff on reception were very friendly, housekeeping kept our room clean. The breakfast staff worked tremendously hard. The only suggestion from me is to add another hot drinks at breakfast.

On first arrival Jessica and Claudia were very welcoming, and i was able to check in early as my room was available. My room was very clean, all the staff were helpful. The spa facilities were amazing and reasonably priced. I really enjoyed the gallery and dining area for breakfast, i was able to eat my breakfast in peace whilst looking at the scenic surroundings. I would also like to say the hotel manager was very friendly and always said hello, and asked me how i was everytime i saw him.

No more Mercure - Olbia

Bathroom needs to be renovated. The toilet bowl has a stain in the middle. Telephone cable was chewed. No milk in the room for coffee or tea. Checking took a very long time. There was only one person at reception and he was dealing with a difficult customer. Since I arrived late 10.30pm I wanted to have something light to eat and the only choice was a very poor quality mozzarella and tomato sandwich on super processed white bread. Breakfast very poor quality. No healthy cereals or fresh juice. The gym doesn't open until 7 am. The outside area is closed until 9 am so you are forced to have a coffee inside.

The gym is very good. One of the best I have seen for a hotel.
The overall hotel decor is a little rundown.
Breakfast is reasonable.
A few items no longer exist in the hotel yet the advertising is still there.
The WiFi is a little irregular and disconnects fairly often.
The cleaners don't always respect the Do not disturb and I had my room get double booked by reception causing unwanted guests to enter my room and start an argument with me in another language.

We needed a one night stay in Olbia as we arrived on an evening flight and did not want a long drive in the dark. A very good thing about this hotel is that you can take a local bus from the airport grounds for €1.50 and then a 7 minute walk to the hotel. We did this journey twice as the next day we returned to pick up a hire car.
The hotel is a standard Mercure, a typical business hotel. Reception was helpful. Room was comfortable. It is not in a pretty location and you would not want to linger. Breakfast was ok but awful coffee and juice. To have even one egg at breakfast was an extra €5.

Very loud, nothing around thw hotel, sercixe awfull. In the middle of the night you can hear every single word a person in the next room says. The other problem is custoner service i request a bottlw of water as there was none i bever got it, same with very unusual situation at 7am someonw trie to get into thw room to apperwntly fiz thw lock. Noone haa told me about that, i was woken up in the mornibg duribg ny holidays. Very unprofesional no custemer service knowldge at all.

The hotel on the whole is very nice but it's the spa and hotel staff that make it so. It could be hugely improved with a swimming pool and outdoor seating area which I felt was lacking due to the distance from the beach, the hotel does offer a shuttle service to the beach to deal with the distance.

Best Hotel Experience Ever

This hotel was only 10 minutes drive away from the airport and that was one of the reason we chose it for a family vacation with our 1 year old. Having said that, after spending 4 nights at this hotel, impressed us further. Staff is very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to help the customers. Every morning, a complimentary breakfast buffet was served which had everything from juices (orange, pineapple, multivitamin), coffees, fresh fruits (melons, watermelons, pineapples), omelettes, croissants, cupcakes to pizza slices etc. We requested a cot bed while booking and were provided one without even asking for it. Rooms are amazing, spacious with an en-suite. Bed size was very generous and you can easily sleep with a partner and even an infant. They also have a complimentary gym facility (though we didn't use it to be honest) and a special kids play room (with ball pits, slides and toys) which made it very special for our little one. What made our trip so special and an icing on the cake were the spa sessions. The hotel has a Spa and Fitness center on the -1 Floor which offers a 1 and a half hour spa session which were amazing with 2 steam rooms and 2 saunas and a spa pool with inbuilt Jacuzzi seats, a shower lounge (provided all settings such as full shower cycle, rain shower etc) and a relaxing room which provided chamomile meadow, apples and water and offer a lot of \"me time\". Will certainly recommend to all my family and friends if they are going to Olbia.

Hotel was not what we were expecting from the Mercure brand. Situated near a railway track with graffiti written walls did not impress us as our transfer taxi pulled up. A small seating with sparse chairs was at the back of the hotel which did not offer exactly a pleasing location to relax and possibly have a pre drink from the bar.

The inside was equally disappointing with random seating no proper lounge bar comfort. There is a large unused area partially used for the breakfast area which for the life of me do not understand why such a large space is needed or for that matter not fully utilised.

There is no onsite restaurant {but to be honest because of the hotel's lack of appeal we would not have dined there but still quite unusual for a 4 star hotel).

It felt to us like the hotel was running down until it closed due to the random seating lack of vision or comfort. The 5th floor was out of bounds not sure what that floor was used for in the past but now blocked by makeshift screens and old chairs!!.

Breakfast was mundane same everyday quite plentiful including processed cheese/meats 2 cereal choices and the so called hot breakfast which always consisted of sausages, bacon and peculiar scrambled egg. These were either luke warm or cold!!.However you could order fried eggs or omelette{Which resembled the scramble eggs} by request only.

Lovely hotel, lovely staff

Gorgeous, comfortable, clean with a superb spa. The staff were lovely and helpful. The only less-than-ideal aspect of the hotel is the area is still being developed and at the moment it overlooks a disused train siding, something which could easily be disguised by some clever landscaping. That apart, it was quiet and the room was spacious. I slept really well, and the spa is something else.

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite, which was absolutely fabulous, very spacious, more like an apartment, we felt very spoilt, thank you Mercure. The spa is lovely and we found this very relaxing. The Mercure also had the best breakfast buffet choices, all very fresh food and tasty. Our stay was very peaceful even though the hotel is in the city centre. All of the staff were very helpful and very welcoming, thank you. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Best hotel in Olbia and northeast Sardinia

This is a fantastic hotel! I don't get these bad reviews. We had a very comfy room with fantastic views over the town(4th floor). A Lavazza coffee machine was a nice touch. Breakfast 5* and coffee just excellent. Antonio was always helpful and hard working. All staff well trained and can't say anything bad about them. It's a family friendly hotel. They have a kids area with tiny toilets, my toddler loved it! They have a free shuttle bus to a nearby beach. Now, my favourite part about the place is a spa, herbal sauna just a dream and a relaxing pool. We got a couple of hours of use for free and on our last day we paid for another 2 hours.It's worth it! There is no beaches in Olbia so the best idea is to rent a car. That's what we did. The bus service in town is also good. The hotel is a perfect place to relax after exploring north and east Sardinia. The hotel is situated 10 mins walk (with a pram) from old town, it's very safe, nearby some bars, supermarkets,petrol station. You have to know that close to the hotel is train station and some things (like a mini scrap yard) you don't normally see next to big hotels but this a town hotel in a city so don't expect palm trees and a sandy beach on your doorstep.We loved it! It's a big chain hotel but the atmosphere there makes you feel like you are in a family run hotel. The hotel is well priced and we regret that we only stayed there for 7 nights. Best holiday ever. Recommended!
Take bus 2 or 10 from the airport for only 1 euro.

Great hotel, really friendly staff. lovely spa. They offer a free shuttle bus to Pittulongu beach which is a god send if you don't have a hire car, Mario the driver is a cool dude!
Also, from reading previous reviews which stated breakfast was not the best, I have to disagree with these reviews as I thought it was excellent.

Nice hotel in a rundown neighborhood. Excellent free breakfast, overly firm mattress and pillows. Unfortunate 18 euro entrance 2 hr, to the spa but gym is free. Picked this hotel because it was very close to airport and short walk to downtown. No airplane noise. Their \"airport shuttle\" doesn't go to the airport so had a 20Euro taxi ride for 3 km. No hotel Resturant for lunch nor dinner so walk downtown, 5 min, but check on times, most close in mid afternoon. Good value for the money.

Great hotel, friendly staff, good value

Stayed for four nights at the end of August. First impressions were good - modern, clean and bright hotel. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We were allocated a room on the top floor not facing the train yard, as requested. We were even given some complementary drinks and spa experience! Breakfast was pretty good, lots to choose from. Be aware that the location isn't super central in Olbia (which is a really lovely town, by the way), but we didn't think 10 mins to walk into the centre was too much. There's a large free car park on site anyway. Would highly recommend to others.

Nice hotel with facility to go to the beach.

Hotel perfect for family and business . Me and my wife greatly enjoyed. Easiness to go and return from the beach at various times of the day. Breakfast was provided with everything. If we return to Sardinia certainly we will choose the same hotel.

Decent hotel in a shady location

The hotel is located behind train lines, and from the outside it looks quite shady. But inside is what you would expect from a nice hotel and the boat shape is quite unique. Plenty of choice at breakfast and the room was clean. The wifi doesn't work well in the rooms - I had to stand outside for a proper connection and our aircon didn't work until we had someone reset something in the plant room.

Great hotel

Sometimes you just need a clean, nice place, conveniently close to the airport where everything just works. This is such a place. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was nice too. It's not small and quirky as some hotels, but it certainly has more soul than the international chains. All in all a highly recommended hotel.

Ideal hotel for near town

Friendly staff and they couldn't do enough when they found out my friend was pregnant. Hotel comfortable and their sun terrace was a god-send when we didn't want to go out. Hotel ideally situated near the town with a 5 minute walk and a 10 minute walk to the harbour.

Good base to explore Northern Sardinia

We found this hotel to be excellent value for money and a good base for Olbia & Northern Sardinia. Room was spacious & very clean although extra hangers & storage space for clothes would've been usefull. Staff were very friendly and gave immediate assistance to us with the TV remote and how to use the safe. Breakfasts were very good with an excellent choice of cereals, cakes, fruit etc and always very fresh. The ramp to the car park is a bit steep but you soon get used to it. Overall I would not hesitate to recomend Mercure Olbia as a great place to stay.

Good points (in no particular order) are friendly helpful staff, large rooms, big comfortable beds, breakfast included, free underground car park, central location yet only 5 mins from airport, free internet access, large tvs, spa and restaurant.
Many previous reviews note factors that manager cannot change such as no balcony's, hotel can be difficult to find, location is not scenic, can be noise due to style of building.
Many reviews note things the manager could change such as stocking the minibars, tea and coffee making in all rooms, faster internet, improve satellite tv as no pay films and only 1 English channel, stop charging to use pool, buy a better toaster and coffee machine for breakfast.
I would happily stay at this hotel again and will recommend to others.

Enjoyed this Hotel!

Although it is a little off the beaten track, it is a great place to stay and rest after a long day of touring, shopping and walking. Very close to the old town area, replete with shops and little trattorias. Near to the cruise port and airport, makes for easy travel. Great food at the on-site restaurant, wonderful hotel service, and a nice place to rest a weary head. We were very happy to have English speaking reception staff, who were welcoming, accommodating and very helpful.

Nice enough hotel, comfortable large room, relatively short walk to town centre, but there are closer hotels. They seemed to want to use the central vestibule to host jazz parties that would go on till 10.30 on the weekend we were there, so very noisy during rehearsals and performance. The spa was nice though. Restaurant not as great as some of the tripadvisor reviews suggest - go to Clipper down the road..

A good spot for a brief stay.

The hotel was clearly designed to be a luxury space, but the overall sense was that no funds are being spent on upkeep or improvement. The common spaces are pretty and the artwork nice, but the main elevator and most of the fountains don't work, There seems to be insufficient business to keep the hotel in the black (profitable). The rooms were comfortable and the staff helpful; however, it seems ready for guests that aren't there, and may never be.

Very nice hotel but they charge to use the pool

The hotel itself was great, very nice on all levels. Now that I've been there I'm not sure why anybody would want to go to Olbia because there really is not much to do there. But if you have to go this is a great choice. I will say we were disappointed that they wanted to charge us 15 euros to use the \"spa\" which happened to have the pool located inside and if we did pay (which we did not) we only had 1.5 hours to use it. Not very nice. Other than that it was great and the center of town was a quick 15 min walk.

Gorgeous Spa Hotel!

The hotel is situated in a good location in terms of amenities and shops but car rental is strongly advised if you visit Sardinia for leisure purposes! There is a railway next to the hotel but it is only a maintenance track (i think) and we didn't hear any noise whatsoever (even from the road next to our room! The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff are very helpful. Very modern and clean. I would visit this hotel again just for its spa!! No expense has been spared on this and it shows! The pictures don't do it justice (and that's why we went)!

This hotel is a bit out of town and away from the beach, there is a beach transfer car that is provided free of charge but was not available on two occassions when we asked. Otherwise clean, comfortable with very nice rooms.
