We stayed at The Lalit Laxmi Vilas Palace during our Udaipur visit and overall had a very pleasant experience. The biggest highlight is the location and architecture — a true royal palace with panoramic views of Fateh Sagar Lake and the Aravalli hills.

The room was comfortable, and the staff was extremely polite and helpful. Food at the restaurant was good, especially breakfast with a wide selection. The property is maintained, though a few areas could benefit from renovation due to its age. Fitness center was under renovation, however we were able to rent a bike for a ride along the Fateh Sagar Lake, in the early morning hours, one of the best part of our Udaipur trip.

Despite that, it’s an amazing place if you love heritage properties with character. Ideal for travelers looking for a calm and regal atmosphere.

The bathrooms are small and not well maintained, with leaky shower doors that remain unfixed. Towels provided look old, and hand and face towels are not supplied. The taps appear worn out and are covered in marks, contributing to an overall sense of neglect. The room door was jammed, which added to the inconvenience. There is no lift in the building, making it difficult for guests with heavy luggage or mobility issues.
While a car is available for hire, the drivers are not knowledgeable about local attractions, so guests still need to do their own research. There is also no dedicated travel desk. Vegetarian dining options are very limited. Not all staff members are warm or welcoming, and the credit card machine frequently has issues, causing delays during payment.
That said, the property itself is a heritage building, which adds a certain charm and character. The exterior is picturesque and has an old-world appeal that some guests may appreciate.

Location was close to the lake and had a great view and was close to nearby attractions. The hotel lacked an elevator, gym, pool and was older. I don’t mind and older hotel which is nostalgic but it needed some amenities. Restaurants were convenient.

Cancel Your Trip Rather Than Staying Here

I went ahead and booked this property because of the name \"Lalit\" and to this date i regret having stayed here.

- The rooms were untidy with several cockroaches roaming freely inside the room.

- The key card to enter the room never worked as the locks are so old.

- The bathrooms were terrible and this is the reason they do not have clear picture of the room and washrooms displayed on their website. In fact the entire property is in a state of shambles.

- To make matters worse the staff is untrained and have no association with the word \"Hospitality\".

- While dining at the restaurant the server came to clear the plates atleast 3 times while we were still dining. We finally had to ask her \"Why is she in such a hurry to clear the plates without seeing that the people are still dining\".

- I requested for an extra bed and the reception kept repeating it would be \"2500 + Tax\". Having said that i have no objection to the charges the same thing was repeated at least 10 times and they were not done here they actually came to my room with a hand written charge declaration and asked me to Sign it.

- Having dined at several top class restaurants the drinks always come with free soda and water but because the property is so poorly managed we were billed for soda and water and drinks were already way too overpriced considering the properties' conditions and class.

My recommendation would be to cancel your trip rather than having to go through the ordeal of staying here.

The lake view from hotel front yard was amazing. The staff was great. The food cost was over priced. The new year gala event singers were really bad. But the food and DJ was good. They charged 8K INR for my 15yr old kid.

the property location is nice, but there is nothing to do. There is only a snooker table available and a lawn. They can add a few activities for guests. Also due to covid the restaurent had very limited menu

Overrated just because of \"Palace\" name tag

We stayed for one night. We were disappointed in knowing that it is actually not a heritage palace property but a heritage building that was designed like a palace. There is no good parking for car also. The waiting room at reception was small which got crowded during rush hours. Food was too costly. It is overrated in name of palace.

We stayed at the Lalit for two nights. We had a great stay at the hotel. The hotel is tucked away from the bustling city on a hill overlooking Fathesagar, but still close enough to the action. It’s a well maintained well manicured property that was very clean. The staff was also great. The price point on this hotel was also great. While not as luxurious as the Oberi or Lake Place it was a still a luxurious hotel at a great price point.

All you’re paying for is the lake view. Compared to other Lalits, the fabric of this property is worn out. Needs new beds, a better layout in their restaurants, and also better food offerings. Quality was lacking and you expect a lot more for the prices they were charging.

Stragely at check in i was given a double bed room instead of palace suit. Palace suit was far expensive then double bedroom and my booking was fully paid.
After insisting, palace suit was then given as a favour. Felt little cheated with this act !!!

Such a tranquil setting in country that can be chaotic at times. The views and sunsets were to die for, such a wonderful way to finish our 3 week stay in India. Rooms and staff were excellent and well worth paying a bit extra for. Nice touches like bagpipes and band playing in the afternoon
(who would of thought). Highly recommend.

Away from the busy part of the city, hotel offers quiet environment. Comfortable bed, Condition of the bathroom (leaking shower, hair dryer from an old age) could be improved. Breakfast buffet quite limited. Staff attentive.

Food qwatity is satisfactory.
Meal cost is high.
Rooms are big, clean, but can be improved further.
Kids area -Not organized well. Limited to 3 items and very far and at a lower part. To reach there you one has to go down 70+ steps and again climb up same steps. Its a hard work.
No swimming pool.

Memorable stay

The hotel property is situated on a hilltop and boasts of spectacular views of Fateh Sagar lake with massive front lawns.
We had reached quite earlier than the check-in time, but the front desk staff was very considerate to accommodate us. The rooms are quite large and you’ll be greeted with a very pleasant fragrance the moment you enter the room. The room, however, did not have an iron or ironing board. The bathroom is fine, though a tad dimly lit. Also, the hotel had ramp alongside stairs in approach to rooms, which is very helpful for elderly guests.
We had meals in both Aangan and Padmini restaurants and found the food to be very delectable, especially Rajasthani Thaali (for which you need to intimate them some time in advance). The hotel also organises activities such as bagpipes performance, puppet show and traditional folk dance every evening, which was a nice experience.
The staff was very polite, warm and attentive. Special words of appreciation to Mohit, Anita and Mimo (at front desk), and Gobind (Restaurant Manager at Aangan) for their wonderful hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Pay attention on the bill while checking out

I was not happy that the hotel did not follow my request to charge the bill in Rupees. Instead, they tried to gain a bit of profit by charging me my home country currency on my credit card. They are either stupid not knowing how to use the credit card machine or just too greedy in order to win this 10 USD exchange rate arbitrage from my credit card and not obeying my order. A shame.

Great location but poor quality service and rooms.

This is a beautiful property overlooking the major lake. However the room given was one level below and had no views. Also the suite was poorly furnished and very different from what was shown in the Hitels.com website. There were not many guests but the staff was ill equipped to handle them well. The food quality was not up to the mark. Overall I felt cheated for the price I paid $318 per night.

Small but awesome hotel overlooking Lake/Mountains

This is actually old Haveli converted to a Hotel. You will see old paintings, amours like swords, arrows etc in hotel lobby and varandahs. Hotel staff was very courteous and polite. You get a royal welcome when you arrive at the Hotel. Ours was a spacious room on the second floor overlooking Fateh Sagar lake and mountains. Sunset experience was just amazing. We had our dinner in an Indian Restaurant Aangan. It is a Garden restaurant. Food prices are same what you pay for similar Indian dishes in the USA

Pros:
1. Room: Mine was well arranged and spacious room. 4.5 star Hotel standards.
2. Staff : 5 stars.
3.Location : City Palace etc are couple of miles from here. You can find Uber or local Autos nearby. You can even go to Fateh Sagar Lake chat area in the evening. That place is full of young crowd. You should try Matka coffee there.
4.View: Lake and Mountains

Cons:
1. This property does not have elevator (I did not see it ) It may be inconvenient for elderly people.
2. Breakfast spread was not so great. Not many Indian items on counter.
3. I wish they put Hotel's daily activities on a paper and keep it in the room. I see chai tapari in front hotel's main lobby but I was not sure if it was for Hotel guest or for invited guest. ( It turned out it was or Hotel guest)
4. No swimming pool or Gym
5. No Free airport shuttle. We booked fixed price Uber taxi( 400 Rupees for small size vehicle)

Overall great experience. Awesome lake view and sunset.

Lovely space and luxury in the suite for 3 people family. Food was average . ( the buffets mostly) . Ala cartel was better tasting. Room service was average. However the location of the hotel, friendliness of staff made up for it. Overall, had a great stay!! Highly recommendable!!!

We booked Lake View Room and the view is great from the room. The property is huge and greens are very well maintained. Staff is courteous and helpful. Food and service levels are good.
Would suggest hotel management to give little more focus on maintenance piece. We had small issues with TV remote and wash pipe in one of the rooms.
Overall Great property, with beautiful surroundings and value for money
