I had an excellent stay at H4 Hotel Solothurn. The property is very clean, the staff were friendly and professional, and the facilities are well maintained. The location is convenient and everything is easily walkable. The only challenge I encountered was that parking can be limited when the hotel is fully booked but street parking can be found. Otherwise, I really enjoyed my stay and would happily return!

They need a better wifi system. The check in is very slow, the phone did not work in the room, and staff are not at the level of professionalism that they should be. You should not be charged to park underneath the hotel when you are not charged to park outside.

Excellent but not all suites have views!

The information on Hotels.com that all suites have a river view is incorrect. Our allocation was a view of the car park and a building opposite. The ‘accessible’ room provided had a wet room with excellent view of the toilet from the bed. Possibly provided because of a company event taking over. The smaller room that we were reallocated had excellent views across the river and was very comfortable. When a new river view suite was available, that was excellent, spacious and worth moving again for. The restaurant was expensive and the food was average, although the service was excellent, I cannot recommend it. My biggest criticism is the ridiculous deposit/freeze of £600 on my credit card, for a stay of two nights, way more than anywhere else on our trip across Europe! The location was great, the hotel a little worn but excellent, the service good and I would stay again.

The attitude of the staff is not appropriate for a four-star hotel. The room is very basic and in our case, it was not quiet either (even though we specifically asked for a quiet room). It's a road hotel and not a vacation hotel.

Hotel is very clean everywhere , is in a superb location being a 2 minute walk into old Solothurn and overlooking the Aare River. Also 2 minutes from the train station is very helpful.
For Switzerland, it’s cost is good and only negative is breakfast needs more staff and cutlery plus perhaps a greater variation of food ( but we were there for 3 days ).

What a view !!!!!! Very close old town. Receptionist was very nice/friendly. Very quiet.
We stayed at 4 cities while in Switzerland and this was the ONLY hotel that did not have an umbrella for us on either day on our 2 day visit. I suggest they buy more for the guests' comfort.

Great location and facilities

A few minutes walk from the main train station, close to all the amenities and the Old Town, and the famous Cathedral of St Ursus, this revamped hotel is very comfortable. Service was efficient and friendly and the provided toiletries were wonderful. I was there for work and very busy but still managed to see the pretty town of Solothurn. Everything is within easy reach at this hotel. Highly recommended.

I hate to say this, because I want H4 to have a reasonably priced room for me the next time I'm in Solothurn, but I'll take a chance with this honest rave review. The place is fantastic -- excellent service, a great location, comfortable beds, plenty of light and (get this!) free drinks and snacks from the mini-bar. You can't go wrong!

I have stayed several times before and as always it’s a great choice of places to stay. The staff is super and the location can’t be beat. Ask for a room on the Park side (away from the road) if you like the window open. Also, keep the blinds down during the day to help with room temperature as the A/C isn’t up to the job.

The H4 hotel is in a convenient location close to the train station. My room was comfortable and clean and a decent size. Reception was reasonably efficient considering we arrived as a group however limited snack restaurant menu offered was disappointing having previously phoned ahead. Lovely view from upstairs bar.

Once checked in, and arrived in our room we found that there was no aircon working at all. It was around 30 degrees and siftling in our room, we were unable to sleep, we were given a rotating fan which only moved already stuffy air further around.
The bedding was for winter conditions!

Great if you want your room to be a Sauna...

Hotel advertises air conditioning in the room. While there is some type of unit in the room that does actually make a noise, there is no air conditioning at all. When I inquired with the front desk, they assured me they would send someone to fix it. Their initial fix though was to send the front deck person to ensure I had set the thermostat correctly...which I had. So, when I inquired with the front desk a second time, they told me that they really don't have air conditioning...and said the room had more of a moderate \"climate control\" system. They went on to tell me that it takes time to cool down. By this time, I had been in the room for a day and a half. When I told her that, she smirked and agreed to have a maintenance person look at it. We will see...but, I will not stay here again. Showering to get sweaty again before you can dress is not acceptable for a business trip. I also asked for a fan...no luck there either. Great location and clean but better possible for only the winter season.

Difficult to get a room in this popular hotel. Mountain backdrop and situated by the river, overlooking Solothurn cathedral and the old town. So great views, but also a clean and comfortable hotel with friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast good too. I can certainly recommend this place.

Pros: Good location a block from the train station and the old town, high quality facility, professional staff, free outdoor parking, quiet room, comfortable bed. Cons: Dirty carpet, no free coffee (this is probably an American quirk), we observed housekeeping \"cleaning\" out our glasses by running water in them and running her hands around the insides...same hands used to clean the rest of the bathroom. Off-putting, to say the least.

Bad for parking and not welcoming

In all not a pleasant stay. Misleads suggesting parking when it is extremely limited. I ended up a fifteen minute walk away. Rooms are a bit shabby round the edges, stains on carpet and peeling furnishing held together with staples. Gym is ok but way to hot to be able to exercise and aircon didn't work or at least was ineffective. Breakfast was standard to any German, Swiss of French 3 star. Would not recommend unless you have to.

The location of the hotel is fantastic - short walking distance from the train station, restaurants and center of town, right next to the river. The bar on top of the hotel (7th floor) offers beautiful views of Solothurn while enjoying a drink in comfort. The staff were very professional and helpful.

However, my room was \"tired\" with furniture showing signs of wear and tear, one plug socket coming out of the wall, but most disappointingly, NO COFFEE MACHINE OR KETTLE IN THE ROOM?? My shower on the second morning of my stay was also lukewarm (at 08:00).

Overall I had a very pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel primarily for its convenient location.

Wir haben nur übernahctet und Abends in der Bar ein Getränk gehabt, weshalb ich über Frühstück, Wellness keine Aussage machnen kann.
Der Empfang war sehr freundlich und speditiv und das Zimmer tip-top. Die Bar muss unbedingt besucht werden (gute Getränke-Auswahl und schöne Aussicht)
