The property had a fire and was shut down by the fire marshal when we arrived. We received no notice about this, and the property charged my card a month prior and tried to argue that they didn't when I requested a refund.

We showed up to our booking at the Econo Lodge on Friday to find it empty and taped off with police tape. The only piece of communication was a note taped to the door saying that the building had experienced a fire and was closed. They had charged my card a month before they were supposed to, never communicated about the fire they experienced, and then left us stranded the night we were supposed to check-in. So we didn’t actually get to stay at the Econo Lodge but based on their lack of communication, I do not recommend.

If I could give this hotel negative stars I would. I booked my stay back in March for this past weekend (as pay at property upon arriving) through Expedia.

Fast forward to June 17th and Econolodge (not Expedia) charged me for my ENTIRE stay (and yes it posted as in the money was taken from my account, not just pending.)

I called the hotel and asked why this was done. They actually stated “said so we couldn’t cancel bc there was a music festival happening” - This should have been my first red flag.

Fast forward to about 2 or 3 weeks ago, I learn through a Facebook group this location had a fire (and I am sympathetic to those who lost their lives and their loved ones, let’s not get that confused in all this). Yes, you read that correct.

The hotel did not call or email me letting me know anything had happened. I immediately used the Expedia app to attempt to contact them bc they were not answering any phone calls. I got no response to them about anything. The only replies were obvious preprogrammed messages (see attached photos) bc they are absurd in asking me how my stay was and to leave them a review…welp, here I am. Asking for this hotel and Expedia to make things right. This is no way to run a business and if it ever opens again, I felt this situation needed to be known bc this festival happens every year and I don’t want another person to get scammed.

We were extremely disappointed with this hotel. When we arrived, it appeared that people were living there, which made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe. The pool was in terrible condition—the water was so cloudy you couldn’t even see the bottom. There were broken windows around the property, and the overall condition was nothing like what was advertised.

The listing advertised breakfast, but there was no breakfast available. We were also surprised to be charged a $60 damage deposit upon arrival that was never mentioned beforehand. The room itself was outdated, with a pull-string light fixture, and the photos online did not accurately represent the room we were given.

What was even more misleading was that the pool photos used in the listing were not even from this hotel—they were from another hotel down the street.

Because of the condition of the property and the misleading advertising, we chose not to stay. Despite this, we were not given a refund. I would not recommend this hotel based on our experience.

This is a nice, basic place to stay. No frills, but clean, quiet and comfortable. Accessible to shops and restaurants in Wooster with a 5-10 minute drive. The bed was clean and modestly firm - no lumps or bumps! Showers were nice and hot... too hot, actually, so mind the tap!

Very ran down place some outlets didn't work in our room. Wife didn't feel comfortable at all in the area let alone going outside alone. Very shady people staying there along with another person staying there with a child that seemed to be constantly causing a ruckus throughout the day until late night. Walls super thin hard to sleep with hearing someone pounding on floor every night until midnight or later. Pool area wasn't used by us seemed like building for pool was in desperate need of repair with window cracked and taped up. Not worth saving a few extra dollars. This place definitely needs a major upgrade. Close and convenient to fast food places and Wooster. If you can tolerate most of what a put then take a chance here. I personally probably won't choose this place again.

Roaches in the room, in our drinks. Dead roaches on the walls that they never wiped off. Neighbors arguing outside at 11pm & deciding to blare their TV at 3AM. Had to walk from way back bulding (where our room was) all the way to the front of the bulding for ice because all the other ice machines were broken. Went to check out & the lady was sleeping in the office, so i had to call her & wake her up.

I'll let all disappointed. When I called they just said it was $30 for a pet fee. When I got there they ended up charging me $60. I would have kept looking for a different property if they were going to charge me so much. Furthermore they didn't $90 and Central hold. Which they said they released but I never got back.

When we got into the room we realized that there are a lot of things damaged so we immediately went to the front desk to report it. The gentleman barely spoke any English. So we wouldn't get charged for it. Like the lamp shades are broken there are holes in the walls things like that. I definitely seemed clean. We didn't see bugs so we ended up staying it was late when we got there and we drove a pretty far distance to get there. More likely than not I would never choose to come back to this location

Just make sure you take pictures of all the damage in your room when you get there just in case they try to charge you for it.

On the first note on Friday and Saturday they do have a small bar there if you're interested in going. To me I thought it was kind of sketchy I had no interest in being a part of it. They do have a convenient gas station across the road. However every time we ask for something they said it would be done after 11:00 and it was 9:00 p.m. at that point which seemed ridiculous especially with the rollers for the food.

I guess you definitely get what you pay for. The gentleman at the desk was nice that we did deal with.

And we ended up in one the toilet ran all night shower tub wouldn't drain and burn holes in all the bedding. In non smoking room. Started to check in and was told I had to pay $30 A night for my Little Dog. I left and had to come back, Being 9:30 pm. I went next door to Quality inn But forgot NO Quality Inns allow dogs even though everyone's sites list as they do.Econo lodge would not allow me an extra towel and wash cloth and was there 2 nights with child and dog. Bed was comfortable, old sheets seamed clean. Pool was ok. I could have stayed at a nice motel for the extra $60 charged for my dog. Down town Wooster has several unique eating options.

So, not supposed to be charged by the hotel after paying on the app. However, you will be forced to pay a $60 deposit that will be \"refunded\" even though mine is yet to be.
