Stayed for an overnight passing through Garden City. The staff was very friendly and the hotel is clean and well-maintained, clean and has plenty of parking. The area around the hotel has a lot of shopping and dining options. The room was large and clean and the bed was comfortable. My biggest issues were that I had an inside room facing the pool which I didn't care for, the AC unit was barely adequate and being a central system, sometimes it smelled like a raw sewage smell was coming from it. Also, the hotel clearly mentioned a made-to-order breakfast on the website, but rest assured, it's not made-to-order. It was setup in the onsite restaurant but was the standard typical hotel fare you'll find anywhere else. That was a huge disappointment because it was false advertising.

Very clean room, beds comfortable 👌 and very clean, showers and toilets very clean small space for a bathroom, staff very polite and professional, we enjoyed the hot tub and swimming pool after a good breakfast, Love to stayed at Clairon, this my third time staying here, love the quiet of the area, very recommended for anyone who loves the luxury, also they have a bar 🍸, restaurant if you don't want to be around the or get away from the place.
Thanks to the stuff I, I forgot my sweater and they were very nice to call me, so I went back to get it, thankfully I was still in town when they called me.

Lots of little things damaged in my room. Dirty air vents and ceiling tiles clearly have water damage that was black in some areas. It had a musty smell. Linens were clean and so was the mattress but it felt yucky in there. The worst was the pool area is carpeted. Whyyyyyy? Water and fabric don’t mix! No slide and pool was freezing. Girls couldn’t get in.
So many things that pointed to mold and mildew issues.
It had such great character im sure when it was kept up better. They charge plenty for their rooms. More than what we paid in Overland Park for an excellent stay at the Hilton! Not sure why it’s not kept better!

We liked this hotel. Older but still lots of charm. Only downside was the breakfast is no longer cooked to order, they now just have a buffet style. I think this needs to be updated on hotels.com as that was the deciding factor on why we chose this hotel.

Front desk lady was very rude. Pool hours should have some adult time, not all guests want to listen to screaming kids and splashing. Room needed a little work. Bad lighting, pool side sliding door wasn’t easy, damage to bottom of bathroom door. Outside building needed maintained. Fill poop bag holder might help with dog poop everywhere, trash laying on the ground

Negatives: Door bolt locks on both rooms I reserved were broken. The lock on pool door is also broken. Daughter found hair in the shower tub.

Positives: Breakfast was great, grandkids and I really enjoyed it. All the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Swimming pool was a blast for the kids

Felt the rooms would have been nicer than what they were considering how nice it is when you walk in and the pictures. The chairs were stained and rickety. The toilet seat needed tighter or something. The fridge was dirty. Just on the wall/ceiling. Can’t move the TV or plug your own into it.
The pool was closed due to private event, however, hotel did offer free passes for waterpark.

Non-refundable means non-refundable! We didn't even go there. I accidentally booked the wrong week, unrefundable. Expedia sent a message to try and change the date, but when we didn't hear back in 48 hours and we got a sour taste and changed our trip entirely to elsewhere. Oh well, better than a vacation in Kansas, as we say!

The bad: The room was very dark and in desperate need of a refresh. We were given a room on the lower level by the pool which had an unpleasant smell that we had to cover up by spraying some perfume. The bathroom was probably the smallest hotel bathroom that I have experienced. There was a party in the restaurant across the pool from us that kept us awake late into the evening. The good: The staff was very pleasant especially in the restaurant in the morning and the complimentary breakfast was very delicious. The bed was very comfortable.

Unfortunately, on the day we arrived, the air conditioner was not working. However, the staff had done everything they could to keep the temperature in hotel down. So we were still able to sleep in a 72° room. The staff were very accommodating and apologize for the inconvenience.

The room was clean however it could use some updating. You can tell there hasn't been any remodeling done to the rooms in awhile and it's showing. The mattress was fair but not one of the more expensive ones that give more support and comfort. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was top-notched.

Room was hot. We were told the A/C wouldn’t cool the room because the outside air temp was too low for the roof minutes chiller to kick on so we were told to turn the thermostat off. So the room was hot all night.

The toilet never really flushed very well. Thought the toilet was going to overflow. Good thing I didn’t need to poop.

The bed was very soft and uncomfortable. My lower back hurt the next day after sleeping on the bed.

The door knob/level only opened the door after about 10 tries. It wasn’t an issue with the card reader. We made it work, but just never knew how many tries it would take to get the door to open.

Breakfast was very good, so they have that going for them.

Piles of dog crap all over around the back door entrance. Pool side rooms had toilet water seeping on the bathroom floors. Got moved to a new room in the middle of the night. Hard bed, toilet so low it was like going to a day care using the kiddy potty. We won't go back. No compensation offered for our inconvenience in the middle of the night.

Surprised this hotel gets as good of reviews as it does. The rooms are outdated and very small. The bathroom ceiling is only 7 feet. The mirror in the bathroom was very small and hung so low I had to bend down. I would not stay here again.

We thought the entire hotel was dingy and dirty. Our TV did not work, the shower had no hot water, and the pool had no slide as shown in photos. The front desk provided a new remote, but TV was stuck on one channel. The property was large and would be nice if cleaned and updated.

Overall the property was decently nice, but definitely not worth the high price you pay for it. It's a formerly nice hotel that's well beyond it's heyday, but still trying to charge it's customers as though it were still relevant.

Our room was clean, the beds were soft, and the towels and linens were fresh. Though I had been warned by other travelers that non-working air conditioning is sometimes a problem at this hotel, we did not experience this.

Our room was poolside, but the handle and lock on our sliding glass door to the pool area was broken and wouldn't open. We only selected a poolside room because there weren't any non-poolside rooms available. But if the property is going to charge a premium for this then they should at least make sure the doors are in proper working condition. Additionally, the hotel didn't enforce the pool hours so we had children screaming in the pool area until approx. 11:30 pm. We understand that some noise is inevitable, but allowing unsupervised small children to scream well beyond pool hours should have been dealt with much sooner than it was.

Overall, it's not a bad property, but I don't believe we'll be staying here again. It's too outdated/worn out to warrant the price they charge, and you can get a much better price at a nicer, newer hotel elsewhere.

Above the shower needs some maintenance on the pealing paint and mold in the right corner. There was a lot of dust on the light switch, plug covers in the bathroom. The trim around the bathroom door, back of the bathroom door was very dirty needed a good cleaning. The wall under the light switch also needed cleaning had some stains (I believe coffee) down the wall. When you turned the faucet on there was dried on tooth past where the little red and blue dots are. I may see more than most people due to having worked in house keeping a long time ago. The front desk staff was extremely wonderful especially when my granddaughter locked us out by putting the latch on the door and use going out the sliding door. So they had to call the maintenance man to come and open our door. Our free breakfast was absolutely delicious the waitresses were extremely helpful and nice.

We felt the Clarion was way over-priced. It is a small convention center with meeting rooms and restaurants. I like to swim, so make a point of finding hotels with indoor pools and will pay extra for it. There was not a single moment when the pool (and hot tub) were not full of kids. PLEASE, all hotels, find an hour or two to reserve the pool for adults. Our room was also in need of an extensive remodel. There was a lot of water damage in the bathroom. Pro: The restaurants are nice with an extensive menu. Sit down breakfast in the morning was free--remember to bring cash for a tip.
