This hotel was absolutely amazing, first time in Saudi Arabia, they made me feel at home, I stayed from December 23rd through the 26th in room 519. Amazing view, the best fine dining I’ve experienced in a long time. Breakfast and dinner buffets were more than amazing, I really enjoyed the spa experience as well. Everyone there made me feel valued and appreciated. I will be returning within the next couple of days.

Wanted to relax by myself after a long week of work travel and meetings. Chose the Sofitel based on location and the view on the water. It didn’t disappoint on the view, but on everything else, it was sub par.
The room smelled funny. I asked for an air freshener. A dude showed up with one of those industrial spray bottles. The smell got way worse.
The hotel condition is old.. and you can see it almost everywhere. The furniture. The finishing. The technology (or lack thereof).
I can’t say I’ve stayed at a Sofitel before (or any of the Accor hotels) and based on this stay, I probably won’t do it again.
I don’t recommend this hotel.

The hotel room was good with the sea view, with a good bathroom. The only problem was, there should be a tool to wipe water from the floor instead of asking room service every time.

The parking was very small so that was an issue, other than that everything else was amazing.

Disappointing Stay During the Holiday

I arrived early at 1:30 PM, but my room wasn’t ready. After going for lunch and returning at 3:30 PM, the room was still unavailable. It was a mistake booking this hotel during the holiday period, as it was clearly understaffed—especially housekeeping, causing significant delays. Checked in 90 minutes past the official time. The room is in good condition but could be better.

The check-in process was slow, with a 15-minute wait at reception due to a lack of staff. The team was doing their best but simply couldn’t keep up. The lobby was overcrowded, resembling an airport lounge, making the experience stressful.

Another major downside is that there’s no direct access to the shoreline. The surrounding area is full of construction, making it not walkable, especially for families with kids.

Despite the delays and inconvenience, no compensation was offered, with the excuse being the holiday rush. To make matters worse, the hotel was also hosting a conference, further straining its capacity.

This hotel is excellent. The only reason why we gave 3 star for ”Overall rating” and “Staff & service” is one person (we wanted to give one star but it would be unfair to other staff).

The lady at the front desk during check in was by far the most disrespectful person we have ever dealt with in any hotel.

It was very sad that just one person negatively affected our experience in such a beautiful hotel. Despite that, we enjoyed our stay and we look forward to visiting this hotel in the presence of respectful welcoming human beings.

My stay at Sofitel Al Khobar was subpar. Not only did I not receive the hard pillow I requested, but there was also no toothbrush in the room, which is a basic amenity. The view from my room was dismal, possibly the worst I've encountered in any hotel. Additionally, the hotel feels outdated and in need of renovation. To top it off, my Accor loyalty points were not added, which further added to my disappointment. Overall, my experience fell short of expectations.

Everything is ok except security check point for the hotel! They every time check my car never mind you are visitor or one of the hotel guests they check everything under car and the trunk and the same if you back 5 times within one hour. This is not professional. And when you get in they check tawaklna app again in front door! Im sick of this. The beach view not worth the price I paid. After all I have to pay 200 SAR for just stay inside the shisha cafe!

Disappointing Long Weekend

We booked a 2 night family staycation, coming from Riyadh by road.

+ Location is excellent. Sea view was a sight for sore eyes.
+ Wonderful sunrise view directly from my room. Could also see the Causeway in the distance.
+ Clean
+ Some staff are professional and courteous
+ I was allowed to checokut late at my request, as I was delayed.

- Some staff are careless and unprofessional. The receptionist was talking on her phone while I was waiting right in front of her at the counter. Unbelievable.
- The Club Lounge staff were clearly a stand-in, and is not trained to deal with guests. He insisted that I was not eligible for lounge access despite me having this clearly stated in my booking.
- Breakfast is basic. Expected much better from a 5-star hotel.
- Room was NOT soundproof despite the claim.
- Neighbours were smoking on a non-smoking floor. Fire Alarm should have gone off.
- No stationery in the room. No in-room dining menu.
- Air Conditioning in our room was noisy and disturbing.
- Room service did not make up my room despite leaving a sign at the door, and also calling front desk for this before we left for a few hours. We got back and had to call again for them to clean the room while we were waiting outside.

Unlikely we will stay here again.

You are just a number not a guest

The main issue here was that check in is 3pm.
We arrived at around 5:15pm and our room was not yet ready - we were told that this was because they were very busy the day before and to please wait 40 min. We had just driven 5 hours and I am 8 months pregnant. We were given no refreshments. We asked again at 6pm and spoke with the manager. We finally got into our room at 6:45pm and were given a fruit basket an hour later (3 whole apples on a plate) and some small cakes.

Not what we expect from this hotel chain. Don't accept a booking if you don't have rooms ready.

The Sofitel is the grande dame of hotels in Alkhobar. It is always my hotel of choice when visiting the City. I Loved the views of both the gulf sea and the city view. Every facet of my stay was a 5-star experience. Check-in was a bit unprofessional. Otherwise, Room dine-in was extremely smooth & fantastic thanks to Fahad & Abdullah for the amazing hospitality. The food was delicious and healthy options were available. The hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. Service was superb and special. Highly recommended and for sure will come back again.

Bad Experience, Worn Out Facility

The check in process was terrible, they mixed up my room key and sent me up twice with no access, I had to put my grumpy face on in order for them to take the matter seriously, unfortunately the trick worked. The dry cleaning service failed to deliver on time and they practically misplaced my clothes for a couple of hours. The facility is not that old but it is poorly maintained, weare and tear is visible all over the room. All in all it was the worst 5 start experience hotel ever, perhaps if it was 3 stars I wouldn't be this disappointed.

Staff were really good, but the room was terribly worn out. Also, their blankets and bed sheets are too dry from the bleach they use. This property should be downgraded to a 3 star. Not to mention their tiny 2010 tv. To the management, you guys are making good profits, reinvest it towards the property and focus more about your customer satisfaction rate.

Wonderful hotel with beautiful sea views! Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The only point of criticism is that the workers in the breakfast area were slow and often reluctant to refill popular food items- this should not happen in a so-called 5* hotel. Also, wifi wasn't always good.

Small rooms, poor wifi, it's very noisy (I can hear the next room clearly).
The (DND) sign means nothing to the staff (they knocked on my door 4 times while it was up).
Sleeping is a nightmare with the poor quality pillows.

I've checked in the hotel at 4:00 AM and I had a meeting at 9:30 AM. The receptionist at the desk \"Wasim\" was very friendly and upgraded the room. The staff are very dedicated to what they do whether it was the concierge term, waiters at the restaurants or room service. Over the past three years, everytime I visit Khobar that's the only hotel I stay at.

The location of the Hotel is good. But if there is some access to Beach from the Hotel would be more attractive.
Main advantage comparing to other hotels was the all time free Snacks/ Juice Bar.

Luxury Hotel by the Arabian Gulf

We occasionally have to stay in the Eastern Province...but have not found a good hotel there until now. While it is not perfect, this hotel compared to others in Saudi Arabia comes close to its Western counterparts.

The hotel picked us up and dropped us off on time at the Dammam train station (for an extra fee), offered us great complementry breakfasts in the main dining room, and was a short walking distance to either the seawall or some malls. Unfortunately, the hotel did not offer a separate heath club facility including pool and jacuzzi for the adult women...though they could watch us men in the water as there was a children's pool.

Rooms were good...great air conditioning and views on the side overlooking the water. Beds were comfortable. Did not like the double doors of the bathroom...but appreciated a separate tub and shower. Had to get maintenance to increase hot water pressure...though.

We agreed that this hotel is a keeper for future trips to the Damman area.

The hotel is well done. Check in was very professional. My room was not ready at check in time and they provided coffee and pastries for the 10 minute wait. Parking down in the basement was good but not enough spaces late when returning from dining. However the staff worked out a nice solution for me. The room was large enough not huge but Ok. The décor was well done. And the view of the Gulf from my 3rd story balcony was nice.

Fantastic hotel. One of the best in the area. The room was very clean and had several amenities you don't typically see in other hotels. The only recommendation I have for them is to improve their chauffeur service. It's likely that they use a third party, but the drivers don't know the area very well and they use cars that are falling apart.
