Hotel was average (typical hard beds and dated decor) but great ski in-out location with connection to adjacent Kagura/Tashiro resort. The view from the Dragondola is stunning and snow quality good. Good food court, restaurants and variety of shops within the resort makeup for the lack of any sign of vibrancy or convenience stores in the village. Everything was reasonably priced. The onsen baths are very basic and have a small capacity given the huge resort complex. Hotel staff were fantastic.

The view of the slopes was fantastic. The room was adequately spacious. We love that each room had lockers for our ski gear. Of course, the best part of this hotel is that you can just walk out of the hotel straight to the ski lifts. Outside of skiing, it's convenient that we can just walk around the massive building complex to shop or eat.

we booked for 3, there were 2 single beds and a sofa bed. there were only 2 set of futon and pillows set for the beds, but not for the sofa. not until we checked out that we recognized of the 3rd set for the sofa bed. there were lacking of bedding set during the stay but beaides that everything was fine.
we especially loved the windows view of the ski slope.

Very disappointed, hotel is far far too large. Too many people in one place to have a reasonable ski holiday. Breakfast and dinner buffets both extremely expensive. Unfortunately too many staff do not speak reasonable English, in fact very little English. Finally with Gondola nbr and hugest chair lift closed for the entire 10 days we were in hotel and NOT one person selling lift tickets Could not explain why ?

Our family of 5 (3 kids aged 10-16) came to Naeba Prince Hotel for the first time, and absolutely fell in love with it!!

It was seriously good value for money for a ski in/ski out resort, lots of ski routes for all levels and the facility is very safe for kids. There are enough restaurant options for my 5 days of stay, and the free shuttle bus to the Echigo YUZAWA station is a big plus!

Would definitely come again and would recommend it for anyone with family and young kids!

We stayed at building #2 and #6 due to limited room availability during winter break. Rooms look totally different, one from 2010(#2) vs other from 1980(#6). They are priced as such, too. So set your expectations properly.
Interestingly, #6 is easier to access Hiuchi-no-yu(onsen). #2 has good bathroom so you may want to avoid walking all the way to Hiuchi.

Dining options are limited to resort itself and price is high to promote all-inclusive plans. Their in-house convenience shop charges extra for everything. This old style business model has to go. I wish the resort invites usual convenience stores like 7-11 so that guests will have access to better/cheaper breakfast.

As a ski resort, Naeba is good. Everyone can access green course on top of gondola #2 which has fresh snow compared to usual resort’s green courses at the bottom of the mountain. And those folks can take gondola back down to skip blue courses.
Though you have to pay little extra, I highly recommend trying Dragondra for its view and better snow in Tashiro area, at least one day.

Great location because right next to Mt naeba ski area. Hotel is a bit aged but sufficient. Ski rental, gear shop, convenience shop all within complex and no need to walk outdoor for these. Restaurants are plenty and most didn't need reservations (you could). Only thing the shuttle bus service is a bit less frequent than expected. But on the day we checked out the hotel arranged two buses due to popular demand, which was appreciated. Overall a pleasant stay and it is a good, kid friendly hotel if you are skiing with children.

i tried searching the reviews of this hotel before i go and turning out that the reviews are mixed. So i was there by myself to experience.

The staffs of this hotel are friendly and helpful. The check-in process is at peace.

The staffs at ski rental shop building 2 are very helpful.

I booked the room at building 2 which i have read that it is the newest. it turned out that not very new. The hotel is 60-70 years old but still well-maintained. The carpet is stained but still clean and it has everything you need. The room is bigger than Japanese standard but very warm. We need to open the window since air-con is not working or else my son couldnot sleep.

The hotel is really big and if you want to come for ski/snow board/sledge, i think you will be happy.

The pizza and chicken nugget at the hotel outlet is really good, we like it a lot though the price is not that cheap but still affordable.

Big hotel, very convenient ski in ski out hotel, just take the lift from your floor and u reach the ski resort immediately:), i mostly happy with the hotel, however, the Onsen is just about 2000 square foot is too small for such a big hotel, even need to wait for the shower stand(being naked and waiting😵‍💫), don't understand why they can't make a bigger Onsen as the hotel is so big

Love the proximity to the gondolas and chair lifts. A fairly big hotel with many different restaurants/dining options for its size.

The rooms are typical Japanese style hotel rooms (a bit smaller than the western style hotel rooms). This is reflected in its economical friendly price.

The only negative is the very slow and spotty WiFi.

Overall, Naeba Prince Hotel is definitely a place I would return to in the future.

The room type I booked is one of the cheapest room type which cost around JPY 20,000 per night. The flat sheet, pillow case and quilt cover are clean but the stains on the carpet are very visible. But of course the good thing about staying at Naeba Prince Hotel is the convenience of getting to the ski slopes and free shuttle to and from Echigo-Yuzawa station which make the who ski trip much less hassle. For sure I will stay here again, for the convenience, easy to get to and affordable hotel cost.

The room was small and the beds were hard single beds not doubles. I’m used to plush memory foam so it was too hard for me. The temperature in the room wasn’t adjustable even though they had directions on how to adjust it, it didn’t work. I tried calling the front and housekeeping, with no answer since it was past 8:00. The hot springs on site was disappointing. With a resort that big they should have more than one hot spring. They only had two and one only had one bath inside. The other two. They don’t have variety. And the restaurant options being varied was nice, however, it was so overpriced! On average spent 5000¥ per person for dinner. Overall it was okay. However, will try a different snow resort next year.

The kids loved it and made the most of the night skiing until 8.30 pm.

Nice family Christmas

Had a great time with my wife and 3 year old daughter, two nights over Christmas. Having everything on site makes things super-easy - you get a designated locker to store your gear downstairs so you don't have to drag it to your room. Room was not the newest but it was clean and comfortable and had enough space for us, two twin beds and an easy pull out sofa bed. The resort is large but manageable, just check which building you're booked in before you go because there are different check-in desks. The staff we dealt with were mostly very helpful and had either had a good level of English or made their best effort. Board, gear, and sled rental was smooth and easy. Book your free hotel bus back to Yuzawa station ahead of time because it does fill up. We needed to get back in a hurry so took a taxi, cost 8000 yen, so not a total ring-stinger but still, if you can get the free bus then that's better. I'd go back.

Enjoyed getting upgrade to bigger room set up for a family with children.Had fun with blackboards and crayons. Dragondola to see autumn colours amazing. Rooms clean but rest of facilities in state of disrepair and in need of a good clean and coat of paint. Particularly on the way to the baths where people have to walk all the time - corridor walls grubby and dusty and signage poor. Have to walk through food court area and many people were confused about where to go. We enjoyed our stay but complex needs some general maintenance.

This was our first skiing holiday and Naeba Prince hotel was recommended by our friends. Both my husband and myself very enjoyed the entire staying in this hotel. Prince hotel offered one stop offer to fulfill the needs of our skiing trip. Bus transpotation from Tokyo and Echigo Yuzawa station (for train and Shinkansen) gives you flexibility both in times and choice of transport to get there in and out. The food although is so so by Japanese standard but they have vast amount choices that you don't feel bored when dinning. The Onsan (hot spring bath) facilities are great, you would need it after a exhausting skiing day. It was so relaxing to soak yourselves in an outdoor hot spring bath when enjoying the snowy weather. I did not shower in my room at all as being a hotel guest, I only paid 500 Yen one off to get access to Onsen. The ski in and ski out access are the best part by staty here. You also have your own locker to keep your ski sets near to the entrance of ski area. The ski area are huge and you can definately find the area where you can prove your skill. I will definately go back to Naeba Prince hotel and recommend to my friends.

We stayed here in early January 2016. The hotel is in a great location, with the lifts just meters from your front door. Each room is provided a locker to keep your gear right near the slopes. There are multiple ski rental shops right in the hotel, as well as lessons. Multiple restaurants which we found to be tasty, friendly and reasonable value for a slope side meal.

The rooms are dated and worn, but clean. If you were slopeside you would enjoy great views of the mountain. We looked towards the car park but still enjoyed good views to the town and maountains behind.

Yes, the hotel needs renovation. Do not come here expecting luxury at all or paying too much. This is by no means 5 stars, it is 3 stars in terms of condition. But who cares! If you get a good rate you are staying right at the bottom of the lifts and you are only 1.5 hours from Tokyo. Come here if you are short on time and want a convenient ski vacation where everything is in easy reach. We would return.

For a 3-star hotel, it was good. I have 2 kids so the shuttle service to and fro the hotel was a very big help especially in freezing weather. The hotel is right on the ski area, so it was very convenient to watch kids play from the hotel room ( if you got the ski slope view room ) .

The staff are very friendly and helpful when the queues for checking in and out were too long.

The only negative part is the bed is a bit small for an average Westerner or Mom's who sleep with babies. I suggest getting a queen size bed.

Also, restaurants have long queues ( lunch/dinner time), so it would be best to make a reservation in advance or go at odd times.

Overall, I had a pleasant time in this hotel and would book it again next year

Great view, relaxing hot spa

The window facing ski area, the view is just great, the room was old, but bigger enough. I hardly using bathroom as they provide hot spa for the fist time fee $500, its so relaxing after spa. Lots of choice of food inside hotel. Locker for you to keep your ski equipment and stuff is quite thoughtful. Last day I can check out and keep luggage in the counter and schedule free shuttle bus to station. The problem the latest bus for week day is 4:20, but ski lifts closes at 5:00pm, just not enough for people want to enjoy the up to last minutes.

Great hotel for family ski vacation near Tokyo

Hotel's free shuttle bus from Echigo-Yuzawa JR Station to the hotel (approx. 30 min) is very well organized. We used Yamato baggage delivery service as they have outlet in the hotel: it was great to travel hands free with 3 kids and have all luggage & skis delivered to the us buy the check-in desk. Family room in Wing 2 is really well equipped with: 2 beds 120cm large and 2 sofa beds 90cm large for kids, fridge, Japanese bath&shower, separate WC.
While there are 20 restaurants in the hotel, many are having short working hours and additionally much of the menu is the same which result in little variety.
Apart of onsen and restaurants there is not much more to do after ski, yet the skiing can last up to 20:30 every night on the ski slope in from of the hotel.
Everything is very well organized in the hotel and the staff speaks relatively good English.
Finally it is great to be within 3 hours (door-to-door, from Tokyo) in the room of ski resort.
We would definitely go there again.

Good things about this hotel:
1) Free express bus to/from Echigo-Yuzawa Station - takes about 30 min to the hotel from the station
2) Ski lifts are on the groud floor of the hotel - easy in/out skiing and relaxing

I also got food poisoning from the food court eating at the Hawaiian restaraunt and had to spend the weekend in the room. Please, do not eat there. Perfect location, good value

The Naeba Prince hotel's lobby's open directly onto ski lifts. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable though for a tall person (I'm 194cm/6'4\") the bathroom ceiling is a bit low, but the fixtures there are all very nice, shower/bathtub works well.

There are decent restaurants inside the hotel which is convenient, and just across the bridge in the village there are also nice places to eat and drink.

Inside the hotel there are also natural hot spring baths (onsen) which the region is famous for. You pay 500 yen for the first bath and then they're free after that. There are both indoor and open-air onsen.

good.

Room was comfortable and clean with a nice view of the slopes. All the facilities were good and we had no difficulty in communicating with the staff. Great to be able to ski straight out of the hotel.

The only downside was the lack of options in terms of dinner, as the food court closed early. Most of the restaurants were dead (this was in early March). Breakfasts options didn't open until 9am which delayed getting to the slopes.

Overall good value and would stay here again!

Ski friendly facilities

We stayed Wing 4, a three person room. Each wing has its own ski rental counter. Free locker provided. Very ski friendly facilities.
Neverthelesd, room is not that spacious. The hotel facilities appears a bit old, but maintain good condition.

Old but clean

If you are looking for a luxurious experience during your stay, Naeba Prince Hotel is not the one for you. But if you're main purpose is to ski and the hotel is just for sleeping and taking a shower, then Naeba Prince Hotel is a good place to stay.

This hotel has seen better days; the carpets and walls are old and the decor is outdated. But the location can't be beat. So, the rate for the rooms can be considered very reasonable.

Will definitely go back.

Fun at Naeba.

A one night break to enjoy snowing at Naeba. Hotel obviously used to be quite high end but now looking a little tired however service was pretty good.
Got quite busy on the weekend but so nice to be able to walk from your room to the slope. Some good runs and ticket price seemed average for a larger resort.
Definitely a good place to stay if you want to avoid Gala and the crowds from the Shinkansen.
