Was a beautiful stay! Couldn’t have been a more charming hotel. However, the photographs that advertise the hotel show women instead of focusing on the much more interesting history and adaptive reuse of an historic building once owned by an internationally recognized artist.

This was a great stay. It is starting to look dated but progress in up grades can be seen around the resort. Resturant was great. Lots of choices for food and beach space in area around by foot.
For our first time in Brazil from Canada felt safe walking around even at night
Only bad thing was heavy sewage smell in bathrooms all three of our rooms with no vent fans
Staff at front desk was over the top, most of the time with English option.

Café da manhã bem servido, quarto superior (101) muito espaçoso e aconchegante (cama, travesseiros e roupa de cama confortáveis), com vista para o mar. Restaurante do hotel serve pratos saborosos e bem apresentados. Área da piscina gostosa. Serviço excelente! Todos muito simpáticos e prestativos!! Na praia se formam piscinas naturais.

Contras: localização deixa a desejar em termos de entretenimento, porém, pra quem procura relaxar dentro do hotel, acho uma ótima opção. Se for à praia leve sua cadeira/guarda-sol, pois tem pouca estrutura (na parte mais próxima ao hotel). Tem algumas barracas, mas achei a higiene precária.

Ar condicionado quebrado, check in tardio

Escrevi antes de chegar pedindo para que o quarto tivesse um berço já pronto pois estaríamos chegando de um voo internacional com um bebê as 10 da noite.
Ao chegar no hotel, nos colocaram em um quarto que o ar condicionado estava quebrado. Nos disseram que o hotel estava lotado e iam concertar o ar. Depois de meia hora é muito estresse “concertaram” o ar, apenas para 10 minutos depois o ar começar a fazer um barulho estrondoso e fazer meu filho entrar em pânico. Só então eles finalmente nos trocaram de quarto. O processo todo demorou quase uma hora.
Algo que poderia e deveria ter sido evitado caso a equipe do hotel prestasse mais atenção às condições dos equipamentos eletrônicos. O ar deve ter pelo menos 20 anos. O da sala era novo. Por que não trocar os dois?
Porque no primeiro instante que sabiam que estávamos com um bebê que precisava dormir já não nos trocaram de quarto?
Absurdo!!!!

It is a beautiful and boutique property , very special and unique. The service was fabulous and the staff was so friendly! We love the breakfast each morning and the pool is amazing. It was great for our family and would recommend to anyone traveling with kids or just a couple looking to spend a few nights away. A truly lovely little getaway in Itapua!

A nice hotel with excellent service from very good staff but a few rough edges. The fit and finish around the hotel is beginning to show its age. The sofa in my room was not comfortable and the chair at the desks is too low. However the food is excellent and they even allow you to order from the restaurant menu as room service.

As a fan of bossa nova and Vinicius de Moraes, I really wanted to have an enjoyable stay and leave a good review. However, it was very difficult to get quality sleep in the hotel/suite. There was little to no noiseproofing in the room, waking me up multiple times every night from people passing by the hallway, staff using their walkie talkies, and the opening of the door from the room across from mine. There was construction every single day except on Sunday of my ten day stay, starting at 7am. The property was beautiful and the staff was very polite, however I was quite disappointed
and won't be staying there again because of the noise.

This hotel must be updated with new furniture and repainted .. My bed had bedbugs. I got major bumps on my back and it is inching so badly . This is not a hotel that should get 4 star for it. I feel very sad for being ripped off on this deal.

this is an iconic place to stay.
just around the corner from Itapoa light house ,where Vinicius de Moraes lived with actress Jesse Jesse and where some of the great Bossa Nova songs were composed along with Toquinho , one of the great partners Vinicius had.
The hotel staff was incredible and the Restaurant is much better than one would expect from a Hotel place.
this is the third time we stay there and not the last....

A relaxed hotel stay

The hotel is set across the road from a beach with a beautiful view of the lighthouse. The room was adequate, plain, spacious, and needed updating. It had a good size balcony which we enjoyed seeing the sea from the 3rd floor along with palm trees and birds singing. The 2 pools are small but clean and a nice temperature that was refreshing. The service was good and friendly. The area felt safe and the hotel was walled in. The onsite historical restaurant had good food and a plentiful breakfast along with seating indoors and out. Overall the experience was very good and relaxing for an older style hotel.

Nice location but no a 4-star hotel

The location is great as ít is next to the beach and the light house. I could literally walk across the street and be at the beach.

The restaurant is nice but breakfast menu is very limited.

The hotel was clean but the room was smaller than expected and seemed to be a run down place as 2 1/2 or 3 star hotel only.

Nice place near the Airport and Beach

Mar Brasil was a great place to stay for an airport layover. It was a short ride from the airport, yet it was at the beach. It was adjacent to Farol de Itapua, and i had a view of the lighthouse and the surf from my room.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The facility and rooms were very well maintained, which is unusual in my experience in Bahia.
The hotel was located in an area away from a lot of commercial activity. This made it a peaceful experience. There are a few good restaurants within a few blocks, but no stores that i found close by. it's about 1.5 miles to the main touristy part of Itapua; I'm glad i didn't stay in that area.

I wouldn't come back

This hotel was once nice a long time ago, but the maintenance and cleanliness is so poor and lacking that I wouldn't come back. I should have taken pictures.

The bidet hose nosle was black. The toilet seat was broken, the toilet paper holder was broken off the wall, the shower head was so old that it sprayed EVERYWHERE -even over the very dirty shower door and into the bathroom. You couldn't stand anywhere in the shower without water spraying in your eyes. The shower itself was filled with soap scum and black spots. The shower head was broken. The bed mattress was ripped. I would have asked to switch rooms, but had to be at a wedding two hours after checking in and didn't have time to deal with a room change or to discuss these problems with anyone. I had expected a hotel with such good reviews to hot have these problems.

Additionally, the sofas in the lounge area were so dirty and moist that feared spoiling my cloths sitting on them.

It's clear this hotel was nice once, I've no idea how it has kept its good rating. The maintenance and overall cleanliness is awful. And I don't blame the house keepers -the rooms were clean as much as a house keeper can do. I blame the managers for not doing a follow up and making sure things like soap scum, black spots in the shower, disgusting tile grout and disgustingly wet sofas in the lounge area are dealt with. Not to mention the broken shower head, toilet seat, toilet paper holder, torn mattress...

IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE CLEANLINESS OF THE ROOM WHICH WAS ONLY AVERAGE AND SOME EQUIPMENT ISSUE (NOISY AC AND TORN HAMMOC) - THIS HOTEL WOULD BE 5/5.
AND REALLY, THE STAFF DID ABOVE AND BEYOND TO ATTEND TO EVERYTHING WE NEEDED, INCLUDING TRYING TO FIX THE AC AND ALLOWING US A LATE CHECK OUT - I WILL CERTAINLY GO BACK!!

Great Staff - Beautiful Views!

We recently stayed here for 12 nights. Although the hotel is not close to the downtown area it is right across from a beautiful beach & our room had a beautiful view of the beach & ocean. The restaurant in the hotel is very good and has a nice variety of food. The English menu doesn't include the large variety of pizzas for some reason so if you want a pizza you need to look at the Portuguese menu. There are several other restaurants close by and although you can't swim at the beach across the street if you just keep walking up the beach you (about 5 minutes) you will find one you can swim at. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They helped us plan several tours & were interested in how they were at the end of the day. The rooms are clean and our "superior" room had 2 full bathrooms and a balcony. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Favorite hotel in Salvador

I love this place. It's perfect if you are in transition & want to be near the airport - a 15" hop. The place itself is charming and loaded with character as the former residence of Brazilian poet and legend, Vinicius de Moraes. In addition, its location across the street from the beach at Farol de Itapua means a walk across the street puts you on a gorgeous beach with palm trees, barracas, and local characters. The staff is great and couldn't be more welcoming.

If, however, you are spending much time in the city proper, it is a long way into town and is not the best base for that.

Great stay in front of the beach!

Great finding. I wanted a hotel that was near the beach and close to the Itapuã Lighthouse since I wanted to take some photos at sunrise. The hotel had everything I needed. I had the chance to stay in one of the rooms of Vinicius de Moraes house. It was a nice and comfy room. The bed was super comfy and those pillows were delicious. I wanted a relaxed weekend, so the hotel has everything for that. You have the beach, you have 2 pools, you have several seating areas in their garden, the food at the restaurant was great! There is taxi service available 24/7. The tourist double-decker bus stops by right in front of the hotel if you're into that. there are public buses outside too. The hotel has a bike rental station just outside if you need some cash. An ATM is at walking distance at a gas station. If you're looking for a place to stay near the beach, this is your place. If you want a place near the most popular touristic points, this might not be your location because almost all of them are 30kms away. (The view is quite beautiful though...because the road goes right by the side of the beach). I would stay here again. thank you for a wonderful stay.

Great stay inspite of a bit rainy weather

Really dedicated staff. Owner lady, Renata looks after the guests, the property, the staff. In our case, she really went the extra mile. Taxis taking too long to come afte being called, she drove us in her own private car to the airport - and didn't accept any payment.
I recommend this hotel - pretty premises, across from very nice beaches.

This is a nice Hotel. The restaurant is a little pricy with very little nearby alternatives. Location feels relatively safe, but if you are going anywhere you need a car or taxi. The Air conditioner in the room was weak.

Já é a segunda vez que fico na “Casa do Vina “ , é um hotel muito agradável , pequeno, confortável , aconchegante . Para ir com criança é adorável, é um hotel pequeno que traz muita facilidade , a piscina é incrível e deliciosa, tem um espaço kids adorável e muito verde. O hotel fica a 15 min da praia do Flamengo que é muito boa e tem ótimas estruturas de barracas. Como dica : o café da manhã é delicioso, porém poderia ter variedades diferentes ao longo dos dias , mas isso não tira o prazer de estar no hotel. Uma outra dica a academia é pequena mas poderia ter aparelhos melhores que permitam uma prática de exercícios mais confortável .Ansiosa pela minha terceira vez … 😍

En höjdpunkt är frukostbuffén som erbjuder en stor variation av lokala rätter av väldigt god kvalité. Hotellrestaurangen erbjuder både lunch och middag. Kvällens trädgårdsrestaurang är en väldigt vacker plats för att avnjuta god mat och dryck.

Poolen erbjuder gott om plats och om så önskas erbjuds även små rätter och dryck där mot beställning.

Det hade blivit fem stjärnor på alla kategorier, om man inte hade nekat den utlovade Hotels.com VIP Acess förmånen som bestod av en flaska mousserande vin. Det ville man från hotellets inte veta något av.
