The hotel needs to join the 21st century. No USB ports. Electrical outlets did not provide enough power to charge my phone or hearing aid charger without my having to figure out which ones (there are very few) worked at all and then it took an inordinate amount of time to charge. Very frustrating. Restaurant is excellent, although pricey. Entire staff was professional, personable and helpful.

The picture online showed a nice renovated rooms. Our room was not renovated in At least the last decade and had a funny smell. The beds were also very uncomfortable. The ratings and pictures were deceptive.

Spent one night there with 4 kids, got the suite and the room was very nice, lots of room and very clean. The pool was nice and the kids appreciated the 8 foot deep end for jumping in. Every staff member i spoke with was very friendly. They have a nice bar and restaurant and 24 hour coffee. Only thing i would have liked to have was a hot tub but not the end of the world. They have a nice continental breakfast , nothing warm but plenty of cold options and cold yogurt and eggs. I would definitely go back!

The pool was ice cold. If I knew how cold the pool was (and no hot tube) we would’ve went somewhere else. My kids couldn’t even swim. It was breath taking cold. Will never stay there bc again! Waste of money.

The heat did not work very well at all in the room. The front desk responded to my inquiry that they had been having heating problems in Room 224 and gave me two blankets......it's winter in Escanaba Michigan! Tough stay with not much heat.

Rooms were extremely outdated and bed mattress was in very poor condition . The bathroom was so outdated I did not even feel comfortable enough to take a shower . Paint was coming off the toilet seat . The clerk who checked us in was delightful though .

The front desk clerk was knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly. The housekeeper I spoke with briefly was also friendly. The room was very nice and clean. The only suggestion I would have is updating the beds and maybe getting Keurig coffee pots... Even those two things were not deal breakers. I didn't get a chance to try out their restaurant, but I could smell the food and I am excited to try it next trip. I enjoyed my stay enough that I am staying again at the end of the month.

Older hotel, rooms outdated but clean, mattress uncomfortable, noisy fan ran constantly in the bathroom when the light was on, noisy heater fan next to the bed…. we just left it off, the soda machine out of order on our floor, pool was down for the day, minimal breakfast, no tables to eat at in breakfast area which was essentially the hallway. There was a note on the table it our room that said they were short staffed. Staff was pleasant. We heard the food was good at the restaurant off the lobby.

The breakfast was a grab-and-go affair with limited options. The room was clean and spacious, but the bed was creaky. To top it off, our room card keys didn’t work, forcing us to visit the reception after multiple unsuccessful attempts. One of the keys even stopped working during our stay. While the hotel wasn’t terrible, these small inconveniences prevent it from being a truly great place to stay.

I checked in to the clerk arguing with someone on the phone. Looked at me while rolling his eyes. Finally finished and got me checked in. Needed a first floor room due to limited mobility. No elevator or carts. The room was filthy. No housekeeping. Reported it back to clerk who let into a profanity laced f this and f that. My wife called him on his language. He told her he was way beyond that. Finally got a second floor room and luggage assist. That room was still dirty even though housekeeping had been performed. Met with the owner the following morning who helped getting luggage to car. He was not at all surprised by his employees’ behavior and blamed it on hiring a relative of another employee. Not at all acceptable. The owner should have simply refunded the entire cost for the stay. We travel often and worst experience in memory.

Didn't drink. First room issue after lugging out suitcases up the steps, was the key lock didn't work. Went to front desk three times until they gave us another room. Never got into the room.
Second room was average clean but musty smelling. Window didn't work to open. Air conditioner compresser went off every two minutes all night. Smell was musty and we couldn't breath from something all night. Took four days to get back to breathing better. Bed not bad. Clean bathroom but low toilet. (Can live with that). Great maintenance man. Very helpful, kind and considerate. Wish I had a better report but the desk didn't come up to help except to issue another room after making my husband take the stairs three times. (six times up and down). We are 76 and can move but we just came from working a large garden all day and needed rest. This was not the way to start our time off. Had to work the next day as well and we needed the rest. Hope you get better as time goes on. We have never experienced this before from any hotels we have stayed at. Breathing shouldn't be a factor. The staff as very friendly and accommodating even offered us towels to wipe down our bikes and directed us to a couple of wash down hoses if needed. Hotel has a pub and restaurant, rooms were clean. The only negative was there was no breakfast to speak of - a few pastries, fruit, coffee yet no place to sit. One of the ways for this place to go from good to great would be serve a great breakfast in one of the 2 restaurant spaces.

The hotel beds were very comfortable which I’m generally pretty picky about same with the pillows. The halls and rooms are fairly dated. The halls are very dimly lit. We weren’t there for staying in the room though so it was fine. We ate one night at the pub downstairs. The food was good, the pub itself was very warm though. Our poor waitress looked like she was dying of heat.

Escanaba has so much potential. You can see that at one time it was a very busy city. We went downtown on a Saturday and there were no coffee shops open to sit and relax at. The two ladies at the candy shop (this is probably wrong spelling but Saywells?). It’s a must stop, the candy is delicious and the two ladies working were so friendly. The street downtown was under construction while we were there which I’m sure put a damper on businesses. I live in a tourist town and I wish we had the opportunity that this downtown has for revitalizing.

The hotel is beautiful. Staff was excellent. Can tell they try to keep up on the rooms..still minor repairs needed. Mattresses were worn out with a deep sinkhole in the middle and very mushy. Restaurant onsite...continental breakfast was average.

Extremely disappointed there was no luggage cart. We do not travel light and carts are necessary for our travel.
Additionally, breakfast was very minimal compared to other hotels not to mention no where to sit and eat other than the lobby couches.
Other than the above the place was nice and clean.
