This is a great ‘just barely the basics’ easy stay near mount airy. There was a bare bones breakfast and the staff was kind. There was not soap in the dispenser in the bathroom etc. and though the breakfast promised fruit - in fact there were 2 apples so it was slightly misleading. We were safe however and slept well. If you’re going for just the basics - this will work.

Coffee available at all hours. The breakfast was respectable for a free meal.
The staff is very pleasant and well trained. I had an issue with Expedia that only required a little common sense to overcome. The staff at Expedia by far had less common sense and less resolution abilities.

If you plan to visit the Mount Airy region, I would recommend that you contact this hotel directly.

The only problem I had was that I got there at 2:30 PM, and they said I couldn't check in until 4:00 PM. But for an additional 35 dollars, they would let me check in early. There was no one cleaning the rooms, never had this problem before.

Room 104 - very clean for the most part. I let the front desk know that the shower head needs replaced. Leaks and doesn't have good spray. My bath towel had a hole the size of a quarter. And there was a stain on the sofa we will say maybe from a milkshake.... So we covered the sofa to feel more comfortable sitting on it.
I didn't mention the rusty light fixture in the bathroom.
Needs some maintenance and it will be fine.

Check in was difficult with a person who we had trouble understanding due to a very heavy accent and who appeared to have difficulty with our expedia reservation. She also refused to believe that I had a disability. The room had a definite musty smell and the carpet looked like it needed to be shampooed. The air conditioning worked but was noisy. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. The shower was far to low on the wall for my 6'6\" frame. There was no soap in the soap dispenser or it was broken. The breakfast items were sparse and there were no coffee cups available. The person at the front desk appeared bored and uncaring. The room needs a complete make over and the property is in need of maintenance. Not horrible but I'm sure there are better options in the area

Check in was way too slow. The lady checking us in took a long time, seemed like she didn’t know what she was doing. Breakfast was available but was bare minimum. The room was great though! There was no discernible place to plug in a table lamp next to the bed. It was unplugged when we arrived. The cheap plastic shower wand blew off the pipe during a shower, soaking the bathroom. The entry door stayed ajar if you didn’t shut it just right. The door stop was in the wrong place making it useless. The breakfast was in a small room. You couldn’t make a waffle without blocking entry.

The rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast on Wednesday morning was only until 9:30 and since I'm a late riser I didn't get it in time. This location is situated between right next to a major truck stop so sometimes getting in and out is difficult when trucks back up and blocking the driveway. It's right off of I-77 and there are fast electric car charging stations in the parking lot at the truck stop. No charging stations at all up the hill near the hotel.

As a solo female traveler, I typically stay in hotels with interior hallways and doors that you need a keypad to enter. However, the Bryson in is an updated old school true story motel with updated doors with key card locks in a quiet setting just off the interstate and the staff made me feel safe and welcome.

Water for washing your hands does even get warm. Shower curtain rod is so slanted that it doesn't keep the shower curtain closed. Bulb from the heater in the bathroom removed. Black mold starting in the shower. No shower ventilation. Windows and doors are so thin, we heard everything from our noisey neighbors that were outside smoking at 10pm. It snowed and the walk ways weren't shovelled. Breakfast has community peanutbutter, no individual packets, eww. Orange juice tasted soapy. Only hot part of it was make your own waffles.. should be advertised as a continental breakfast not a hot breakfast. No water available at breakfast.
