No parking in and around the hotel where the roads are cordoned off.
The temperature inside the rooms and the dining area is very cold and can be maintained at room temperature to make the stay ckmfortable.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Promenade Pondicherry, and I must say it was an absolutely excellent experience! The Sea View room was stunning—gorgeous decor and very comfortable. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making my stay even more enjoyable.

I savored a delicious breakfast in the morning, particularly enjoying the dosas that were simply delightful. Additionally, I treated myself to a massage, which was not only at a great price but also was just a great massage!

Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Promenade Pondicherry for anyone looking for a beautiful getaway with fantastic service.

The room was clean but needs to be upgraded as does the bathroom. The towels were old and looked unclean though I assume they were not. Street noise was immense. The hotel could ensure people do not honk or car alarms do not go off at 3 AM.
Did not think there was location value for money. Paid a lot for the hotel. Enquired on the Promenade and other hotels were half the price.
Food was charged at NY rate and was sub par. Drinks were also the most expensive I have had in India.
Staff is courteous but did not appreciate being woken up at 12 for laundry delivery especially since it was not mine but my sons next door. All in all I do not think I would recommend this hotel based on my experience unless it was at 60$ a night.

The first room was leaking and the water had dripped in the floor and I slipped and hurt my back, they changed my room to a comfortable room. The dining room ceiling was leaking and water dripping in my head when I was having breakfast. I don’t think I should be charged for my room. I expect a refund. If not I will have to sue for my back being hurt.

This hotel was great for a short stay. The hotel itself lacks a 4star luxury feeling, but it has more of a small boutique hotel feel. It's also a great location. It's a walkable distance to the boardwalk/ocean front, which was nice. At night, the area was lively and safe. We walked around and even went to a few shops then came back and had a specialty coffee beverage at the hotel restaurant. If you choose to sit outside when you dine, the view is beautiful. Also, we received SPA treatment here which I thought was FANTASTIC. I did have to wait for my treatment for a long time, but I did not prebook. I chose the coffee scrub down, and it was excellent!

The Promenade is very conveniently located on the beachfront (Goubert Avenue). Many key tourist attractions like Sri Aurobindo ashram, Ganesha temple, Puducherry museum, French war memorial, old lighthouse etc. are all within walking distance. There are many eating and shopping options within short walking distance from the hotel. Taxis and auto rickshaws are easily available for slightly faraway attractions like Auroville.

Service and food at the hotel is excellent and staff go out of the way to help the guests.

Facility is a bit old though and it shows in the quality of fittings and furniture. This needs attention from hotel management.

All in all, it was a very nice stay at The Promenade.

Great location. Hotel is in the front of the beach and easy access to Sri Aurobindo ashram. Staff are really good and as soon as you request for something and it gets done. Welcoming guests was good. Room was not so great although they say hotel maintains heritage but hotel room requiring updating. Room facing street food at the back is quite noisy and smelly and can't keep windows open. We had few other issues for e.g. there was no locker in the room, balcony was broken and unsafe. Next day they changed our room facing sea and it was much better but because there was parade going on hence seaside view was not possible. Breakfast options were quite good. Hotel is quite pricy

The food here was excellent. And although the staff was kind and friendly, the majority of them did not speak english which created miscommunication and slow service. I think the staff needs more support from upper management. The staff we greatly appreciated are Asing (restaurant), Kalai (Laundry/room), Asis (Email correspondence), and Praneetha (spa).

We were on the second floor room 22 and 23. Both rooms had mold and we also found cockroaches in our bathrooms at night. Our mattress in room 22 was also terrible. Big disappointment.

Not worth the price!

The Promenade Hotel location is perfect as it is right on the promenade in the French Quarters. The hotel is 15 years old and is very dated and needs some serious renovations, considering their room rates.
Amenities were of very poor quality and i had to ask for the hand towels to be replaced as they had black marks on them.
The other issue is the noise factor as a result of the proximity to the promenade which goes on till very late at night.
On the other hand, the staff is excellent, attentive and very helpful.
On the whole a bit pricey for the quality of the property. I would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

The location is great but the hotel needs better maintenance ! My room had a big mirror completely damaged by humidity, which makes the room look cheap and not well taken care of. For the price I would have expected a better decor in the room: the leatherette is really looking cheap, the wooden floor was completely scratched. It's a pity because the hotel has a great potential !

I chose this hotel form it’s location facing the beach in Pondicherry. At the time I made the reservation for two rooms, all the sea facing rooms were booked. I wasn’t too bothered as I expected the non-sea facing rooms to be ok, just without the view. That was a big mistake. Don’t stay at this hotel if you can’t get a sea facing room. We were given two rooms at the dark dingy end of the hallway on the second floor. The rooms had a partial side view of the sea if the wooden shutters and doors were opened and you and stuck your head out. My parent’s room doors didn’t open so they didn’t have this as an option. The bathrooms are dingy and there is no light I’m the entry area. The overall look of the rooms we were given was a bit shabby and rundown and the dark hallway was the same. The paint didn’t look fresh and it was poorly lit. I walked to the other end of the hallway which had a sea facing window at the end and noticed that the front half of the hallway was much brighter and better maintained. The rooms on that side of the hallway all had the same view of the street and partial sea view. I was quite upset with the rooms we were given. The hotel was fully booked and the manager on duty told me they had allocated the “best” rooms available. When asked why they didn’t allocate two rooms in the lighter brighter part of the hallway, he had no answer. Poorly trained staff and old looking rooms make this hotel a big no-no unless you really want to be near the beach.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Promenade. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Food was excellent. The room was very comfy and quiet.

The hotel itself could use a small renovation/freshening. We hated the air freshener they sprayed in the room.

We would definitely recommend staying.

Tips: You can grab a tuk-tuk to Auroville for a flat 300 rupees (we tipped him well because at that price they are not making anything). Make an appointment to see Raj Nivas (2 min walk). It’s a bizarre tour and you might get to meet Gov Kiran Bedi.

Expensive and old-bad maintained hotel

Hotel to avoid despite a very good location.
It's old fashioned, need to be refurbished totally. Room was dirty, equipment like telephone, safe box, not working. You need to ask for sevral times before somebody will take these problems in account.
Very bad isolation so noisy at the point it's difficult to sleep if there's neighbors room watching TV or if there is some music outside (avoid first floor street side with the bar located in floor -1).
Compare to others hotel or pension, the price is elevated and not corresponding to a 4* hotel.
It is equivalent to a 2* star hotel maximum

We stayed for 2 nights.
TV was not working for the entire duration of our stay. Tough to keep the kid entertained during the evenings.
The Swimming Pool was closed the next day till Noon for maintenance.
The sofa in the room was broken and the window opened out to a big green net fence.
They eventually changed our room after much persuasion. This was a bigger room with a view of the street. However, the TV still would not work.
The view of the Ocean from both the restaurants is very nice.
The staff are generally helpful and accommodating.

Need better air system

As we are traveling from a cool climate, in order to tolerate the heat during summer in India, a nice a/c room is a must. Unfortunately the a/c wasn’t working in our first room & even after moving to a different one, only a slight improvement. We had a second room as well, as we are traveling with 5 adults & while the a/c was working better there, the room had a very strong musty smell. Rooms don’t have ceiling fans. Adding them would likely help with both these issues. So the rooms were disappointing, but the rest of the hotel was quite pleasant. The food was good, we really liked the complimentary breakfast which was perfect for our group as it had both western & South Indian options, which is what we were looking for. The location is also very convenient & the view is lovely. The staff were very sweet & friendly & did help to make up for the shortcomings of the room. So we were overall content with the stay, but do think the price is too high for the condition of the rooms, as they do need an upgrade.

We stayed on a weekend holiday. The hotel location is ideal. It is right on the beach. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. It has all the facilities like two restaurants, bar, gym, etc. The staff are very well trained and always eager to help. The staff was excellent at what they do! This might be one of the best places to stay in Pondicherry.
They dint have parking space, But they have valet services free of charge to park you car in a safe place.
IT is exactly the same as in the images, facing towards the beach.almost 4-5 of the must visit places are at walking distance from this Hotel.

3 night stay at this pleasant beachfront hotel.

Overall the staff were friendly and helpful, although the restaurant staff occasionally needed prompting to clear the table and reset between courses. Did not always get exactly what we ordered but the food that arrived was good.

The bar staff were prompt and friendly, professional.

Reception staff were friendly and helpful but not always effective, requests were not always acted on.

My family stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was a pleasant stay. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, need upgrading. The towels are really old and need to be changed ASAP. The hotel location was excellent as it is right on the beach.They close off the beach road to allow people to walk and hang out at the beach so there was a LOT of noise from outside all night which we could hear in our room. The staff was nice and went out of their way to engage our children. The food was good and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Our kids enjoyed the pool and it was a nice way to cool off. The location was also very easy to catch an auto and go shopping.

Generally a good hotel, but with parking issues

A very nice stay at the hotel and generally a good experience. My only negative was the lack of parking at the hotel. The website describes that there is self parking, however on arrival, this was not the case and you need to park in the street which was actually closed off at nights for walker on the promenade. This makes it particularly difficult if you have a car / or have hired a driver as the driver need to find alternative parking in the city which is not easy. The hotel staff promised they would change this on the site.

In general this hotel was excellent being right on the Promenade and the staff was courteous and attentive but the experience was marred somewhat by the time taken for service in the restaurant. On 2 occasions the service took a long coming and although the staff were apologetic it did spoil the experience a bit
The pool was very relaxing and out of the way and felt like an oasis. Would come back.

Nice designer hotel near the beach

I simply fell in love with the designer look of the hotel, the rooms are very aesthetically designed and the range of colors used are just awesome , just loved the decor.

- we stayed in room no 30 for two nights which gave glimpse of the bay of bengal from the window..

- the wooden flooring is a bit of a dampener as the flooring has become bit uneven

- the mini bar was sufficiently stocked

- AC didn't make much noise , we had very peaceful night sleep with no noise issues

- bathroom accessories were as per our expectation the bath soap from aurobindo ashram is worth a mention
I would rate the room 4.5 out of 5

- Blue line restaurant is one good place to relish multi cusine food.
- we had thai prawns in raw mango salad- this was exotic
- the fish sizzler was a disappointment - the portion of spinach served was just unappetizing
- lingini pasta was ok
- Murg karachiwala was good
- the nan served was burnt
I would rate the restaurant 3.5 out of 5

From arrival at the Promenade we were greeted with warm and friendly staff, this then continued through all areas of the hotel throughout our stay. The breakfast was tasty with a wide variety and if you didn't see something you wanted the staff were more than happy to try and accomadate you.
Perfectly located on the to explore Pondicherry. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a relaxing friendly environment to spend their time in.
