Staff couldn't be more helpful, even an upgrade to ensure we had a double bed as opposed to 2 singles pushed together. The Hotel is tired windows dont close, therefore the traffic noise was too loud to sleep and constantly being woken up by car horns beeping from 4 in the morning

This hotel is old. Rooms, bedding towels are old and look dirty. Bathrooms are old and look dirty. The hotel has big lobby, good parking. They have different plans like European plan which doesn't include breakfast and Expedia doesn't mention it. Staff is not quick in resolving issues.

Horrible Stay

My daughter checked in on May 5th and within just a few minutes she was very uncomfortable because the room was smelling, furniture was rusty and old. However given er long journey she decided to just rest for sometime and when she woke up, the air conditioning was not working, there was water everywhere in the room .

She then got her room changed and this time the pillow covers were smelling, they were damn, the head board is dirty and the bathroom has rust. since it was too late to change the hotel she stayed back however it was impossible to stay any further. The pool area is dirty, has moss and fungi alongwith a dirty and terrible stench (like the ones from the sewer), and the Spa is also stinking.

Having the opportunity of a free spa, she cannot avail of it because no sensible human being will choose to be in a dirty, stinking and almost hazardous to health environment.

We had booked 4 rooms out of which the key for one did not work the whole time and we had to go to the reception and ask someone to accompany us every single time. Another room did not get locked and one of the staff members tried to convince us that it is safe to leave our things inside by pointing to the smoke detectors and sprinklers saying they were cameras. The furniture was moldy and the rooms were dirty. The towels in the bathroom had someone else's hair on it. The lady who checked us in was not courteous or friendly. Very poor experience. Avoid this place.

Pleasant Stay

Stayed with family for 2 days. it was a pleasant stay. A few problems with slow room service and house keeping. The key card didn't work. The restaurant was very good.

Beautiful hotel in a great location, but...

This is a beautiful hotel in downtown Pondicherry, close to everything. It was built as a luxury hotel but has not been maintained properly. Our room was large and nicely furnished but so dirty. Lights witches were stained by finger prints, baseboards full of dust, paint was dirty and stained . The bathroom was the worst we have seen in India.

10 days in Ananda Inn

The rooms were noisy- facing the road- the bathroom smelt of urine and the shower curtain was moldy- room one- asked to be moved- now next to the service lift and all night heard the lift and staff and furniture scraping- asked to be moved again- now facing quieter road. No fresh air- furniture and beds scraped across floors above us during the night, Indian guests yelling loudly in corridors and bathroom still smelling of urine. Bed sheets clean but with holes in them.
Breakfast in dining room with oil stained tableware and knives and forks not replaced between customers. Kitchen staff would come out with FILTHY uniforms - stained and dirty. The front foyer has old dirty heavy furniture- all the soft furnishings need steam cleaning- chairs in rooms smelt of urine.This hotel bearable only for 1 or 2 nights- not for a long stay- not worth the money.

The pits of the world

From the moment we walked into the hotel we were uncomfortable. Shown to our room which was dirty and the bathroom disgusting and the safe not working. Called house keeping to be told no other room available and oh yes the safe doesn't work!!!! Asked for a change in room that we would pay for an upgrade to be given a very curt NOTHING AVAILABLE. Asked repeatedly and eventually we were given another room still same dirty conditions but the safe worked! On going to bed found that the bedlinen had not been changed - bodily fluids. Slept in one bed. Next morning told them we wanted an upgrade room to be told yet again nothing available. Went for breakfast in the filthiest room we have ever seen table cloths staff uniforms disgust. Staff had no training whatsoever. Had to ask for hot toast and tea which took forever. We found another hotel to stay in The Promenade which was far superior. On checking out of the Anandha suddenly an upgraded room became available. Too late !!!!! Maybe we were unlucky but I think not as the whole place should be totally refurbished and better staff employed. Think Expedia should make regular and unannounced visits to this property

nice hotel, 15 minutes wal from the promenade

very spacious but slightly dated room had good A/C and good plumbing with excellent showers. Pool area clean and attractive and good food. The weekend buffet was a highlight.... a vegetarian's paradise. The breakfast buffet, included in the room rate, was closer to a S Indian lunch buffet in other establishments. Restaurants open until 11.30 pm. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and reasonable value.

Amazing hotel

The hotel is beautiful and the views are stunning! The only problem is the guard at night throws things on the floor that sound like gun shots! So at 3 in the morning this waking you up isn't great.... But that is literally the only issue with the hotel! Staff are friendly and very attentive the massages are amazing and well worth the money

Costly for the services offered

Amid the hot weather in pondy, the disappointment from the hotel was their unresponsiveness towards the guests. They won't provide your choice of food after certain time, and also, you cannot get it from outside.
The pool facility is not upto the standards as in other 4 stars. The expedia also didn't do better during my journey. As I requested them for 3 days accomodation, they had only provided 2 days accomodation, and one day i was left on my own in an unknown city.
regarding two wheeler partking, there is a basement parking available, but you need to really walk a lot to get there and once you have parked and forgot ur stuff there, then you will not be willing to go again there to get it due to its long distance from the hotel lobby.
Wifi doesn't work smoothly in some rooms. Need to call technician

We booked 2 deluxe rooms and specified single beds (which was accepted) Got there and the rooms both had a queen size bed Not ideal with 2 children (girl & boy) of 15&20 Got told ALL deluxe rooms were like that so got downgraded and told no refund!!!!
One room was damp the other had power cuts if you used a hairdryer!!!
The pool looked good on the website (one of the reasons we booked it) but a bit of artistic licence was used!
We only went to Pondicherry for a couple of days and if I went back (I am a Brit living in Chennai) I definitely would not stay here again

Enjoyed, did not expect the hotel would offer you so much for such a competitive price. Good buffet spread, neat rooms. The swimming pool though small is good and the place is neat and tidy. The staff there are very courteous and professional

Well past its prime... not well maintained

The hotel is an old established one, 20years in service but not well maintained... seepage marks on the walls, torn/dirty shower curtains, rickety beds, thin walls that will make sure you listen to next door TV and when the janitor next door does something it will sound as if its happening in your room. Overall, decent location, and very nice helpful and friendly staff, but they need to take care of the above issues! Food quality can be improved as well, good breakfast spread!

Professional staff makes all the difference

The hotel staff were very helpful and professional. They always gave an impression of being in control and well organized - a thing lacking in some hotel establishments. Whatever wish I had they were very prompt in responding. The facilities were great too. I enjoyed my stay very much.

One of few large hotel in Pondicherry. It is not colonial style but they decorated with full of frenchy paintings. Hotel is quite old but Front desk staff was caring and prompt. They have nice Swimming pool. To go beach Rd. it will cost approx. 70 Rps by auto, for 5 mins ride. ( Its not walking distance) compare to hotel near beach, price is more reasonable. So if you are not looking into Colony-style boutique hotel, but cozy place with facility + convenient location, then highly recommended !

I was surprised when driving up to the main door, it looked mush more nicer than I expected. The room was ok, the hotel is worn down, but still I got a really good price and I could recommend this to other people which does not need the 5 star experience.

Le restaurant est le point négatif de cet hôtel : poussiéreux et offrant un petit déjeuner très succinct pour ceux qui ne mangent pas épicé au réveil..
Chambre impeccable.
Environnement un peu bruyant. Pondichery étant une petite ville être à la périphérie ne se ressent pas.

Oppholdet var supert, resepsjonen veldig behjelpelig. Savnet en balkong eller å kunne åpne vinduene på rommet. Ellers var oppholdet fint, god mat i restaurantene. Gikk litt tregt noen ganger, men vi var jo på ferie så det var greit.
