Our room was unbearably hot. Despite the aircon being turned off, a waft of hot air kept coming in from the vent. We opened the window but that did not help and it was noisy from outside. The staff basically said “that’s how it is” but did arrange a device which blew air over ice cubes. Not effective and noisy. It was a most unsatisfactory stay. We did not get a good sleep on both nights. Very poor and uncomfortable performance from what should be a top class hotel. Tonight we are staying in a budget Route Inn at Sakata and it’s very comfortable by comparison.

Stayed 2 nights. We took the premium room which was great. Kudos to the gentleman at front desk with the black rimmed specs (sorry, didn’t get his name) who was always ready to help with a smile for our entire stay. I would have given him an excellent service badge if I could. Housekeeping, however, fell short of expectations for a good class hotel. Cups were not washed / replaced, There were specks of food dried up on the sink after housekeeping made their rounds…minus 1 star.

Out of many areas where we went in Japan, Akita was the most unsafe with skateboarders (who were out to pick fights/steal with a dozen or so others) after dark. I was not expecting that. Once we stopped going out at night, everything was fine in terms of safety. They seem to target tourists, where there were plenty. On a side note, the front desk suggested a few places to eat, and the first place we went they gouged us on food we didn't order and it was super salty and not recommended. Another reason not to go out after dark there. The bathroom was tiny, the room was ok. I would not have ordered the additional breakfast as part of the package since we had gotten the room with lounge access and that already included basic breakfast which was good enough for us. The location was good, close to the bus and train (shinkansen) station.

What’s good: location is good, 3 blocks from Akita Station; right next to Seibu store, breakfast buffet was great, bed is most comfortable out of 3 hotels I used.
What’s poor: no vending machine for drinks, no complimentary bottled water unless you’re an IHG member, shower curtain does not span the tub so shower splashes all over the floor; I had an accessible room with grab bars everywhere which was nice but why is there a big 6” step UP from the room level to the bathroom??

Hotel was very accommodative of our request for an extra rollaway bed and the room was very large. The only thing to note is that there is no parking onsite and the laundry charges are charged per piece (as opposed to a simple coin laundry). The hotel is very near to food and shopping options and is essentially in the heart of the city. Other than that, we had a very comfortable stay and would definitely book again if given the chance.

Newly refurbished room with luxurious feeling

Japanese customer service was amazing. Friendly and informative check-in. Gave us heads up and apologetic that parts of the hotel refurbishment might cause some noise disturbance between 8-11am. Our room was new and plush, clean with unexpected amenities such as a bathroom weighing scale. The overall environment was quiet and calm despite refurbishing work near the lobby area. Throughly enjoyed our stay!

This property is very tired. The outside at the front as you pull up is covered in rust and looks like your pulling into a parking garage. The rooms is nice and clean. The bed was very hard. The in room onsen was lovely. The thing that was terrible was the restaurant. Only one open and a buffet. At check in we were told open till 10. So booked in for 8 when we got there most of it was packed up but assured we could order. Possibly the most disappointing food experience in Japan.

We visited Akita for the weekend, 2 adults and 4 children. The location is perfect, parking was available, and the Japanese breakfast delicious. We stayed in a triple room and fit comfortably, unfortunately we had to book two triple rooms, otherwise this hotel wasn’t an option when searching for only 5 guests. The rooms were not adjacent, but several rooms apart, therefore we only used one as our kids are minors.

Super convenient hotel within an easy walking distance from Akita Station. The hotel is a grand old hotel that needs a bit of love. The beds are VERY firm and I was a little worried, but I had a surprisingly good night's sleep. My favorite part was the buffet breakfast. The Western offerings are not impressive, but the skin-on salmon, mackerel and other Japanese offerings were really lovely. If you're craving vegetables after too much ramen and travel food, you're in for a treat with all of the possibilities in the buffet, especially the hotpot veggie station. Coffee in Japan, as in most other places, are simply not as strong as American coffee. All I can say is that it's free.

Very nice Hotel in Akita in a good location.
5 min walk to Akita Station and nice restaurants and cafes around the hotel.
Hotel Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Beds are a little bit on the harder side, but still ok for me and my back issues.
The reason why I couldn´t give 5 stars is, that I also reviewed places like the Waldorf Astoria or Ritz Carlton.
But if I would only compare it to hotels in this price range, it would have gotten 5 stars.

初めて利用しました。客室に至る通路、客室もキレイに清掃されており、気持ちよく過ごせました。ただ、内装のクロスが剥がれてる部分もありましたが…
チェックイン・アウトの対応も大変良かったと思います。朝食バイキング（12F）のスタッフさんの誘導、対応も良かったです。そして料理の数々も美味しく食べてまいりました。総じて良い滞在となりました。スタッフの皆様ありがとうございました。機会があればまた泊まりたいです。

3連休なので妻と二人で秋田。昨年来てすごくよかった。男鹿半島の景色もそうだけど、メトロポリタンの朝食もとても満足した。しかし、今回は天候が悪そうなので横田とか行かずに秋田駅エリアに2泊することになった。じゃぁ同じバイキング2回食べるのもね、、、ともう一泊をANAクラウンプラザにした。赤組の私が青組の聖地に泊まるというのは少し抵抗があるのだけど、食べログ情報でこちらの朝食も美味しそうなので、JALだANAだとは言ってられないｗｗ
早く着きすぎたのだけど裏が商店街なので荷物を預かってもらって散策に行こうと思ったらアーリーチェックインさせてくれたり至れり尽くせり
事前学習ではどうやらオムレツやらクロワッサンやら洋食系が美味しいようだ。翌日泊まるメトロポリタンは、郷土料理的なメニューが多く和食メニューが充実。逆に洋食は貧弱な印象だった。こちらでは洋食を食べよう。。。と思っていたら、、、えええ？ご飯のお供がこんなに！郷土料理がこんなに！！と和食天国だ。
そして、ご飯のコーナーには「あきたこまち」と「ひとめぼれ」が食べ比べられるという趣向だ。そしておにぎりコーナーでは「サキホコレ」と「あきたこまち」が選べる。近年米どころとして高い評価を受ける秋田（むかしは新潟より北のお米なんてあまり食べられなかった。品種改良と温暖化のせい、この十年くらいで秋田、青森、北海道までコメどころとなってきた）のブランド米代表的な3種類を制覇できる。違いは？？？全部旨い！！ｗｗｗ
おむすびライブキッチンでは米が選べるほかに、当然具材も選べるのだけど、「鮭キャベツ」「生ハムおかか」「梅アボカドチキン」「いぶりがっこシーチキンマヨ」と斬新な具材。決して奇をてらった味ではなく、めちゃくちゃうまい。驚きのおにぎり。
お米の食べ比べにはいぶりがっこや他のお漬物、ご飯のお供がたくさん。味噌汁代わりにきりたんぽを頂くが、いい出汁、いい味、いい香り。昨夜夕食で食べたきりたんぽより美味しかった位。
一応洋食も頂いておかなきゃ、、、とオムレツとパンやオードブル類を頂くが、非常においしいのだけど、他所で食べられるおいしさ。これは和食で占めるべき。とおにぎりと稲庭うどんでお腹のキャパ一杯。
予期せぬ大満足で、荷物積めてホテルうつるの面倒だけど、1泊だけでもこちらに泊まれて良かった。赤組だけど「ANAにきゅん♡」だった。
