I absolutely loved my stay. If I ever come back to bali, I'd for sure consider going to this hotel. The staff were super friendly. The room was very spacious and the garden/pool/rice farm were gorgeous. A short ride from the shopping center and the monkey forest. They also had shuttle bus every few hours to the center.
The rooms were clean and when I was staying, it seemed that they were renovating some of the rooms which would make them even nicer.

Food is amazing. Pool side is relaxing and staff so helpful and friendly.

Rooms are lovely and spacious, grounds are beautiful.

Only thing would be the showers are a bit old but over all we will be back and disappointed we only stayed one night.

If you’re considering don’t give it a second thought if you’re wanting relaxing and chilled.

This spacious hotel was a lovely place to be. With all the expected Balinese amenities, this one boast incredible staff, a large pool great for families and couples as well as perfectly manicured gardens. Set amongst the picturesque rice paddies, this hotel transports you to a simpler time. With various rooms offered some newly renovated others that are like villa's there is something here for everyone.

The front door was warped and barely shut. The doors had gaps in them letting outside air in. You have to keep the bathroom door shut because there are mesh windows in the bathroom that let hot air in. They were doing construction in the room below was loud as well. The front desk people were annoying and kept calling when I told them what I was doing. One older guy at the front desk charged me 50k for another room key. I found it and brought it back when I checked out. They said he shouldn’t have done that but wouldn’t give me money back and there wasn’t a receipt of it. The only positives about your place were the ladies from room service. They were super nice. You should make them front desk people. I don’t know how this place has a 8.8 rating.

This is one of the best hotels I’ve ever been! Nice clean big room, large beautiful garden! Helpful and very friendly staff!! The only thing I did not understand is - my first morning breakfast was free but was charged for my second. Actually I didn’t expect free breakfast for quite low rate booking from Expedia for such good hotel! It’s more than worthy ! I strongly recommend this hotel!

This is a beautiful property in the jungle just outside Ubud. For the price you can’t be that, but there are some things that you may not like for example the Wi-Fi is not very strong there’s a lot of oxidation and wear and tear on the buildings. Like cracked doors and oxidize toilet bowls. The deck around the pool is kind of a death trap and you might even fall through the wood planks. The plus side is the location and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I paid $25 a night plus tax and honestly I can’t complain too much but my key was constantly being demagnetized. The electricity in my room kept flashing on and off and they were able to fix it but I doubt it was up to code lol. There’s no elevator so if you’re on a second story someone will help you but it can be a little bit of a hassle. The restaurant is good but has a limited menu. Overall I give it like a C A for a Quetion spot but kind of a D for up keep

Stained Sheets

Staff was friendly during check in. They did an amazing job with decorating ross petals on our bed. Although our biggest issue is the stained sheets! We had to ask like 3 times for them to finally change our sheets and the “new clean pair” they gave us had even more stains! So we asked again and they seemed annoyed. You also have to ask a few times for them to clean your room. The bathroom does get extremely hot. Breakfast was basic nothing special. We stayed at Natya Hotel in Kuta which was only about $20 a night and that place was way more clean and had a way better breakfast selection even though we paid around $55 for this place. The pool was big and nice be careful of bugs and especially spiders everywhere. They also have a shuttle service but the down side is you cannot contact them once they drop you off. We were harassed by the taxi drivers around 20 of them and just wanted to go back to the hotel but no way to contact them. I would not stay here again.

1 problem was: at 5 AM cleaning /wiping of the street outside just in front of rooms wake people up! Too early to make noise. Also thin walls in rooms- you can hear neighbors talk. But other things are good: nice and spaceous room, good breakfast, green surrounding frindly staff.

My husband & I spent 3 days at Bhuwana Ubud & had a great time. It is a well maintained property with lots of beautiful trees & a lovely clean pool. The room was quite spacious with comfortable beds & soft pillows. As for the bathroom it was nice & clean but the shower wasn’t great. The food was prepared with fresh vegetables & fruit from their garden so we enjoyed it very much. The staff were very friendly & helpful too. We would definitely recommend this place to holiday makers who enjoy a peaceful & tranquil environment surrounded by nature.

Before going into the review, keep in mind that Ubud isn’t “urban”, so it’s not fair to expect amenities and facilities such as business class hotels in the locality. That being said, Bhuwana did make our stay as comfortable as possible. Decent food (includes vegetarian options), quick room service and satisfactory room. No iron box/locker/hairdryer - but we were able to call up reception and borrow them. At the end of the day, it was a fairly decent stay with no regrets!

best hotel we stayed at on our trip

Oh wow, what an incredible hotel. We were completely blown away when we arrived. Great service, staff couldn’t do enough for you. Great facilities, including some that are free so definitely take advantage. The breakfast had some really great options as well, a nice variety.

We couldn’t believe what bargain we got for the room, we ended up extending our stay. The bed was so comfy, had the best night sleep in Bali there - the surrounding was so tranquil, all you could hear was crickets which was almost soothing. The bathroom is a little dated and could do with an update but it’s clean and has everything you need.

I would highly recommend to my friends and anyone else to stay here.

We had great stay, and it’s so good to see a hotel take steps towards sustainability. The refill water tap was really good. Location was great; free shuttle but also less than 30minute stroll to the centre. We were disappointed that the yoga classes were only twice a week as we would have loved to go.

Although it is a serene and relaxing environment, there is only 1 WiFi box for the ENTIRE resort.

Report must have poor septic. Because the whole place smells like a toilet filled with poop.

Massages are good.

I did not get any other spa treatments such as a hair wash, facial or manicure/ pedicure because the polish looked old and worn and Their “spa” is not much of a spa. It’s a shack.

Breakfast is each day from 0730-1100 and costs 100,000 to per person. The restaurant is open unto 10pm and still has a decent food selection throughout the day. No alcohol.

I had a king size suite for myself and my two kids and each day I had to call reception because they would take all my towels when cleaning even if they were hung up. I was still left with only 1 or 2 towels. Never enough for the number of people the room was booked for. Never. Not in my 10 day stay. I swear.

The staff is extremely SLOW. If you request bikes, expect to sit and wait. If you request more towels, expect to sit and wait, if you request more coffee packs in your room, request to sit and wait and always receive the bare Minimum.

Paper thin walls. You can hear people in the next room during their casual conversations.

Staff are helpful. Accommodation is in a quiet place from the central which is both good and bad. Apart from the restaurant, other eateries are maybe about 15-30mins walk away. Shuttle service at 2h interval is available however it should be more frequent. Rooms are relatively clean. One of the bedside lamp is not working. Despite informing the receptionist during my stay, it remains not fixed.

We really enjoyed our time here at Bhuwana Hotel. The staff were extraordinary and the setting was very nice. Some of the facilities show their age and are worn / weathered but they work hard to keep everything clean. Beds were comfortable and housekeeping was on top of things. We had bugs on day in our room and they came up right away to take care of it. The restaurant was also top notch and set next to the pool area. You can even order your breakfast in a floating basket while you soak. Shuttles ever two hour into town which was nice to not have to rent scooters, hire a taxi, or walk 25 minutes. This is a nice spot close to town but far enough out that you do not get the busyness as you would in Ubud center.

Bhuwana was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. A little out the way of the centre of Ubud but there is a free shuttle every two hours so we didn’t find this to be an issue.

+ the restaurant food
+ the surroundings/ gardens/ sustainability & environmentally friendly approach

Negatives:
- Would have been helpful to have the shuttle every hour.
- cats in the ceiling of our room

Beautiful property and welcoming staff

We stayed 6 nights I can’t say enough good things about your stay. The property is absolutely beautiful and the staff is fantastic. They were so warm and welcoming and by the end of our stay we felt like they were our friends. They went out of their way to make our stay special from cutting up fruit our daughter collected on the property to surprising me with a birthday cake on my birthday. The rooms are simple but well appointed and some of the largest rooms we have found in Bali. The AC worked very well and the views of the rice fields are lovely. We have stayed in the center of Ubud and as a comparison, the Bhuwana is about 5-10 minutes drive from town. It was nice to come back to such a peaceful place after spending time in town during the day. The free shuttle is convenient but they also easily arranged taxies for us into town when we needed it. I highly recommend the Bhuwana!

Okay hotel but a Long way to town

It is fine to stay outside of Ubud but if there is only shuttle service every two hours it really limits what you can do with three kids in tow. The staff seemed hampered by very strict hotel rules, for example even when it was too dark to see due to a 5 pm storm the staff could not turn on the lights until 6 PM because of the hotel rules. We switched hotels after one night and decided to stay in town and we were glad to make the switch.

I was slightly disappointed by the state of the bathroom. I have very high expectations, when it comes to cleanliness. The bathroom needed a good clean or updating. I personally don't think there's any excuse for mould in the grout. Also, the food was not great.

On the other hand, the hotel staff were lovely, the pool was lovely too. Free yoga class and free afternoon tea every day. The hotel is far enough out of central to be calm and quiet. They offer a free shuttle every two hours, which came in handy.

I would recommend, as I enjoyed my stay but if you're looking for luxury - this isn't it.

Not a Wellness Resort but a Comfortable

Cons: This hotel advertises as a wellness hotel, but it isn't. They offer one yoga class a week. There isn't much to trek on the facility's grounds. Additionally the food and spa are both overpriced (if you don't buy their breakfast deal when booking, a cup of really bad coffee it is 37,000). All throughout Ubud has higher quality organic food and spas for a cheaper rate. Far from town but walkable (25 min to Yoga Barn) if you want to leave before 10am (that's when the shuttle starts). Lots of bugs.
Pros: comfortable beds, pretty grounds, very sweet and kind staff (very little English spoken). Fridge in room. Acceptable wifi.

Was nice and removed from the hustle and bustle but bit of a walk to town when sidewalks are not always present. Felt like I was in the jungle which was nice, lots of plants and beautiful setting. The wifi was terrible, couldn't get internet most of the time. The towels and sheets could be replaced, they were worn and even had some holes. Bathroom almost in need of update too, but was clean.

Chilled out retreat 10mins away from all the noise

A great hotel if you want to 'get away from it all'. There is no noise pollution and the only noises you will hear come from the wildlife (i.e. birds, crickets and a few resident kitties). This is a great place if you just want to relax, although there is a regular shuttle service which runs into Ubud each day (must be booked, but this is easily done at reception). We used the on-site bicycles on the final day to cycle to nearby Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave), which was a unique but well-worth experience. We found the food to be average quality (main meals), so did not eat very often at the hotel restaurant. Continental breakfast was always varied and more than adequate, with hot dishes (including eggs) being available as additional. The pool area is very clean and peaceful, and staff always made this look pretty with flowers in the morning. The hotel offered a free welcome drink on arrival and also a free 15-minute massage, which was well worth it on a rainy afternoon! The bathroom was a little bit tired and the toilet needed to be filled prior to flushing each time, but not really a huge inconvenience. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on our balcony watching the sunrises/sunsets and would certainly go back. Staff are hugely attentive and very polite - a credit to the hotel! Take a short walk around the rice field and veggie patch in the morning to get a feel for the area.

Best Hotel I've Stayed At

This has been, by far, the best place we have stayed in Bali. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, the grounds are impeccably well kept, the pool is beautiful with the swim-up bar for great blended drinks, the rice field albeit small is stunning. It's situated a few minutes out of downtown Ubud among the rice fields, but has a free shuttle to bring you into town (and pickup). The breakfast is worth getting, and the restaurant serves great food, including local fare as well as western. I would 100% recommend staying here and can't wait to come back to the Bhuwana Ubud. The one \"downside\", is they don't serve alcohol, but you can't bring your own in and it's readily available nearby in town. Definitely this hotel is a must stay if you are going to visit Ubud.

Nice hotel with outstanding staff

We stayed at Bhuwana in Ubud for 6 nights. The grounds are amazing and the staff work diligently to keep it that way. The staff go out of their way to be courteous and helpful. The shuttle service into Ubud was convenient and regular enough for us. We went into town every evening for dinner. The food at the hotel restaurant was not great although the staff were excellent. This is a non-alcohol resort which we were not aware of when we booked. We bought wine and beer in town and drank it in our room and on our patio. Another reason that we didn't use the hotel restaurant as we like to have wine or beer with our meals. Even the laundry service was excellent and reasonably priced. Even without the alcohol we would recommend this hotel and we would come back again.

We did white water rafting and then stayed a night Bhuwana as we were going to Lovina the next day and it made sense to stay a night in Ubud. I loved this hotel it was beautiful. It's so close to everything but also that little bit out so that you are hidden away from all the business. We used the hotel's shuttle bus to take us into town which was great. Breakfast was included, there were 3 courses that you order and the bring out each course at a time. The juice was freshly made to order. I would definitely come back.

Tap was rusty and falling apart.

Breakfast is made to order... but is cold unless you order the poached eggs... all the other eggs are room temperature as if they cooked it the day before and left it out all night...

Dirty cutlery and bugs all over them.

Beautiful, peaceful, stunning pool.

Loved the calm and peaceful atmosphere. Lovely vegetation. The pool was stunning. The restaurant food was delightful. The massage was superb. There is a shuttle bus that operates every two hours to Ubud, which is only 10-minutes away. My only complaint was that we weren't there long enough.

Quiet and Worth

This is the hotel you can stay for a whole day and enjoy the peaceful forest and friendly services. Free welcome drink and 15 mins neck massage provided. It's far away from the streets so you can't hear the noise of cars or people, you can enjoy the swimming poor, mountains and massage services quietly. The Internet is not quite good though.

First timers but not repeat stayers

Wifi was poor. The stench of nearby pig sty was a big turn off. Insects creeping into our rooms and rain water was dripping from the roof.

Staff were nice but seemingly understaffed and under trained.

Nice surprise surrounding gardens. Halal meals was a major plus

Very nice hotel with beautiful grounds

We had A very pleasing stay here , very relaxing , a free 15 minute massage was a pleasant surprise in the spa , and the pedicure I had was very well done and very reasonable in price .
Very good value for money all round .

Beautiful Hotel near Ubud center

Bhuana Ubud Hotel is beautiful. From the expansive open air check-in lobby to the hand-carved spa bungalows in the gardens, its just lovely. The room was great, nice and spacious, large tiled bath with hot water and A/C and a controller that worked. Its a nice walk up the hill to Ubud central or you can take the free shuttle. They also have big umbrellas you can use if its the rainy season like we just experienced.

best place for a quiet relaxing bali getaway

best place to stay in bali..quiet ,relaxing,great swimming pool,refreshing,free shuttle bus to ubud markets and monkey forest.[only 10 min away]markets and great little cafes everywhere.this place beats kuta and legian easy.only down side was no beer or wine available,but you could take it back to your room and drink it there,this was fine for us

Clean and beautiful !

The staff at this hotel were very very nice . The breakfasts are huge and delicious ! Other food reasonable prices and very good too.
Hotel out of town a bit . Stunning grounds . Loved the quiet after being in town . 2 nice shuttles but they only go every 2 hrs . 2 hrs in town not quite enough . 4 hrs too much . Still very clean . Very modern . Nice bathrooms with excellent hot water.
When I didn't have a charger for my camera they gave me one to use .
We enjoyed our visit . Staff brought food to our room . Loved the restaurant staff.
Pool very nice and clean .
There is NO ALCOHOL served in this resort . We didn't care. But didn't know that till we arrived.
Cost 60 rps in cab to get back to resort from town .
Got our laundry done and back in 3 hrs . Nicely done too.
Wifi painfully slow half the time . We stayed 3 nights . Resort decorated with flowers everywhere . Nice touches !
Would definitely stay again .

Oasis of calm

Unlike a lot of hotels who seem to claim they are in Ubud (be careful and research just how far they actually are), Bhuwanu actually is pretty close. They also run two hourly shuttles into town. The hotel pool is absolutely fabulous as are their spa facilities and all set in the most beautiful grounds. You will not find better staff anywhere. If I could rate them more, I most definitely would. So friendly and so sweet. We took a very early morning trip one day and consequently missed breakfast. When we came down to breakfast the following morning, one of the staff was so concerned that she hadn't seen us that she had actually called our room to find out if we were OK!!

Beautiful hotel, wonderful service

It was wonderful. The hotel staff were amazing and so accommodating. They went out of their way to help us on multiple occasions. The spa is also wonderful.

The room includes to many great additions including free shuttle in and out of town, free 15 minute massage at the space, free breakfast (amazing buffet!) and afternoon tea by the pool, extra pool towels.. etc etc. Loved it and we will be back!!

Great Staff & Nice View

Great staff with welcoming drinks.
The view is nice, quite, big and perfect.
The rooms also big however the bathroom not so clean, leaking at the toilet.
Very hard to flush the toilet. So the bathroom totally not a nice place you can spend.
The room is ok, old design. That is fine with me.
But the wild big and fly cockroach is not ok with me. Took me 2 hours to kill that cockroach.
The swimming pool is a great view.
The SPA also great.
The breakfast and tea break also great.

I think in future I will just find another hotel around the Ubud if I stay there.

Very peaceful and quiet hotel with friendly staff.

The environment is quiet and peaceful with beautiful maintained gardens. The pool is a nice size and plenty of space for relaxing around the pool. The staff left us completely alone; no pressure to order drinks or food. The fact that the hotel didn't sell any alcoholic drinks was no problem for us and actually added to the calm and peaceful atmosphere. The spa is really nicely set up and the quality of treatments was high. The shuttle bus into Ubud was frequent (2 hourly) and reliable, however it does mean you have to \"plan and time-manage\" a little. I booked the hotel partly because it advertises yoga classes, but this is only organised for 1 hour/week (Friday afternoon). Unfortunately I missed out on this during our stay. All in all, it was a very relaxing and pleasant stay.

Beautiful hotel in lovely setting at very moderate cost. Nice restaurant, friendly and accommodating staff. Free shuttle service into town. Wonderful massage service at reasonable price. Had a minor drain problem with the shower. When the maid staff noticed extra towels on the bathroom floor, they arranged to correct the problem before we even mentioned it. WiFi a bit spotty but really could not ask for more in an accommodation.

The resort was less than 5 minute drive out of the main town centre of Ubud, which meant it was in a nice quiet location away from pollution. It was a lovely experience and while we didn't realise the hotel was an alcohol-free hotel, we found this turned out to make the stay more pleasant. The pool was stunning, the restaurant food was delicious and the staff were lovely. The room was spacious and nice, the only fault I could make is that the bathroom walls and shower screens were dirty. They also offer a free shuttle in and out of town operating at set times all throughout the day and night which was very handy and saved us a lot of money on taxis. Another bonus was the free 15 minute massage on arrival and free buffet breakfast every day.

Exceeded expectations - great surroundings family enjoyed walking around the hotel area, swimming pool is great, friendly people, prompt room service, healthy but tasty food. And to be specific - loved picking and tasting those sour passion fruit, watery cucumber, medicinal betel leaves etc. Enjoyed the stay throughout. One last note, bhuwana enabled a alcohol free (or less) stay but no one stopping you getting one from the shops to be consumed in your room - One of the comment I read earlier mentioned no alcohol served was for 'racial reasons' but there is no basis for that to be true, feel free to ask me why and how I say that.

Best of Ubud!

My husband and I spent our anniversary night there. and the staff were very friendly and lovely, setting up romantic celebration for us. breakfast was excellent, love the healthy concept. location is quite far from the city, but the shuttle bus was very convenient to commute to and from the hotel. overall, fantastic stay!

Great hotel with excellent service. VERY clean.

It had a traditional old school feel that we liked.The towels are a bit grey and worn but definitely clean!

Throughly enjoyed our stay in Ubud. The hotel is a little out of the centre but a nice walk if not too hot or the hotel offers free shuttle service. (Taxi's are max 50,000 IDR if you want to be flexible and not tied to shuttle.)

Great value for money, but the wifi is horrible

Travelers need wifi especially if they have data on phone turned off while international. I wish I could give this hotel 5 stars - the grounds are beautiful. But there is a major wifi problem, it cuts in and out constantly. Very frustrating and reception couldn't do anything about it.

Pristine all natural hotel in Ubud

Excellent stay stay at Bhuwana Hotel! By far he cleanest hotel I stayed at in Indonesia so far. It's a little bit isolated which normally I don't like put it was so peaceful that I loved it! Soooo relaxing. Food was great and all natural, the room was relaxing, the bed could have been a little bit better but I'm not complaining. Right behind the rice Paddys which tourists can go check out! Awesome. Pool had a little too much shade but the trees were so beautiful so what can you do. I'd love to come back here!
