Fantastic hotel with Kanchenjunga view rooms

Fantastic hotel in Gandhi Road. Close to Darjeeling mall, great rooms and wonderful service from the staff. The breakfast has a lot of options and all the food items are very well made. The Kanchenjunga view rooms don't let you down either. Overall, 10/10 and must recommend.

Family Vacation gone wrong.

The hotel’s approach is soo steep, we had to think twice before heading out each time. They should offer complimentary shuttle service at least. Not recommended for elderly travelers. The food was not that great for the price they are charging. Overall the trip will be more exhausting if one decides to put up at this property. There is no parking available at the property so if you call for a taxi, you have to be ready at the gate at the precise time so that you can board the car and leave as it is a one way narrow street. If one wants to visit the mall road frequently, suggest you stay at a different property. The kitchen closes at 9:30PM which is not practical at all (I dont know about the other hotels as this was my trip to Darjeeling). The room phone was not working and even after complaining on all 3 days, it want changed/repaired and I had to climb 3 floors down to the reception to talk to house keeping. Lastly, there is no lift in this hotel and if you are allocated a room on the 3rd floor, you literally have to climb up 5 floors (from the road it is 2 floors to the reception which is termed as ground floor).

The property itself is well maintained and have excellent support stuff. Offers good variety of breakfast items in buffet format and a selection of both veg and non-veg items for lunch and dinner, if one opts for those. The approach to the hotel is a steep incline and then some more steps to climb, which needs to be factored in while selecting a place to stay in Darjeeling. Location wise, the main mall area is a 15-20 minutes walk on inclines.

I have to relate a most disappointing experience with the night duty manager on the Oct 16th evening.
I paid in cash the bill for 23,667 Indian rupees but one 500 rupee note had figures written on it. I was asked to replace it but I didn't have another note and neither did I want to use my credit card.
I advised that the disfigured note was given to me by the money changer down the road, suggested by the hotel staff. I protested that it was not my fault.
The duty manager was just as eager to defend his position, saying it was not his fault if he couldn't accept the note.
The hotel receptionist contacted the money changer there and then and the latter was willing to replace it.
The duty manager instructed another staff to accompany me to meet the money changer at about 9.30 pm to get the the note replaced. I think it was not an appropriate decision to make me walk down to the money changer in the cold of the night. He left me with no choice because I was unsure what he would do next.

I must say your duty manager did not know how to handle a simple problem and he showed no guest relationship. He considered having the 500 rupee replaced immediately was a price the hotel could pay for losing the goodwill from me.

Old hotel at the top of a steep road.

Nice hotel but needs to be updated. Hallways are like school corridors, dark wood on the walls and some information posters to provide relief. Hotel is situated at the top of a very steep road with a 40plus step staircase to the hotel entry.

Good Hotel In Darjeeling

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, check in was fast, free upgrade on registration. Room was comfortable with a terrific view of the Himalayas when the mist lifted. Nice lounge for a night cap. Location is close to the town, toy train and observation hill ,Staff were always ready to help and attentive, good breakfast in a pleasant dining room. Slight problem with wi fi , however I would not hesitate to use this hotel again and would recommend. Dave and Sal Yorks

Friendly hotel close to town centre

The hotel staff are so very friendly and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. The head chief would make us a surprise treat each morning with our breakfast . Was so special. Great views from the rooms clean, tidy and close to center of town. Would stay again.

Don't fall for pictures and positive reviews

There was no heater in the room and it was freezing. Towels were stained, old and some were even torn. Cable in the room had Indian channels only (mostly in Hindi). Internet throughout the property was really bad. Hotel is dated and pictures don't reflect reality. As for the staff, very few speak English. Overall, I would never stay at this hotel again and definitely do not recommend it.

Quite good.

A very pleasant stay. The only problem is the week wi-fi connection, which come and foes, but most of the time very poor. The excelent point is the chef, who made is feel like home with our homeland specialties.

Good food. Good location. Well located, but very narrow approach road, which was blocked by 2 cars parked on the road. We could not wait for the parked vehicle to leave due to traffic. Hence the taxi driver had to make another round in the one way traffic lanes to come back to the same lane.

Sinclairs Darjeeling - Good value for money

Very good and comfortable stay for 2 nights. Booked deluxe rooms but was upgraded free to premium rooms on arrival. From these rooms we could view the Kanchenjungha clearly. The complimentary breakfast covers items reasonably. The alacarte dinner items are also cooked nicely. All the hotel staff are always ready to serve. Special mention of Mr Jogen of front desk. Overall good value for money. But ... despite all these, the big problem is location. From the taxi stand opposite Keventer's it is quite some walk, then a very steep road upto the hotel and then 60+ steps to reach the premium rooms in the second floor. Difficult not only for senior citizens but any person. The hotel does not have any plan to solve this.

We had a One night stay in this Hotel. This hotel provided us an overall pleasing experience with clean rooms, polite & attending staffs & quality complimentary breakfast.

However leaving this one or two minor issues, I recommend this hotel & shall consider for my future stay's.

we stayed for 5 nights. After 2 nights we received a room upgrade to a room overlooking the town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Try to orientate yourself on a map early as the hotel is not actually that far from everywhere. We started out paying for taxis everywhere then realised a couple days later that we easily could have walked the distance. The restaurant serves great food also!

This place is amazing...this has got to be the classiest place in Darjeeling. It's true the road leading to the hotel is steep and dumpy, but once you get inside it's fancy. The staff is excellent and they coordinate with one another! I asked their staff about laundry rates, he didn't know but said he would check, and a few mins later sent the laundry staff to the room with details. Perfecto!

Pros:
- Super clean
- breakfast/restaurant is delicious
- large, modern room
- staff is so prompt and attentive
- spotless bathroom
- has space heater and bed heater!

Things to improve:
- gym could use heavier weights and 3/4 cardio machines were broken
- restaurant ran out of ingredients, tandoori

Utterly Charming and beautiful

The first word that comes to mind is aesthetic. And this refers not only to the furnishings of the rooms but also to the overall feel of the hotel. I spent a quiet and pleasant holiday here. From the restaurant itself I could view the Kanchenjunga. Though the hotel was booked, the staff were always active and hospitable. The food is good. I especially liked the piping hot Darjeeling tea served to us in the mornings. A great hotel.

The Sinclairs hotels is centrally located to many attractions, and is immediately adjacent to the malls. And car parking is also available for free of cost. But, they also provide in/out car rental privileges, too. The rooms are modern and clean, and the windows can be partially opened for fresh air. Colour TV are included with AV inputs (useful if you have movies on your laptop or a portable DVD player). The gym is modern with a good balance of weights and cardio equipmen

This Sinclairs Hotels Darjeeling is a impressive place. Not only it offer the gigantic view of KANCHENJUNGA. But it is a lot more than fern-filled valleys. The 46 well appointed rooms and suites of this hotel; are a blend of modern and contemporary design which has been combined with a touch of warmth & hospitality at its best. Any person or customer looks for one thing while they travel i.e. SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE. And they offer it at its best.

Hôtel bien emplacement qui aurait besoin d'un bon

Pauvre et froid l'accueil. Le buffet pour le déjeuner n'offrait que peu de choix. Pas de yaourt par exemple. Le service était confus- l'anglais pas compréhensible de certains employés est-il responsable? J'ai dû demander une tasse de thé à 5 reprises avant qu'on ne m'explique que c'était la faute de la cuisine s'il n'y en avait pas de prêt...Or nous n'étions qu'une poignée de clients attablés.
Le service WiFi était pratiquement inexistant- je n'ai pas réussi à envoyer un seul message à partir de l'Hôtel.
J'ai eu droit à un lit King size mais les draps étaient ceux de deux lits simples, disposés côté à côte....

Comfortable hotel in Darjeeling

We stayed at Sinclairs Darjeeling for 3 nights upon arriving. Wonderful location to explore the main sights, comfortable room and friendly staff. Breakfast is fresh and very good. There is a steep climb up to the hotel but it is manageable. Would recommend to friends and would stay here again.
