We stayed this hotel for two nights in the hot summer and worried it’s AC and noises. However, everything was cool. The staff were so friendly, they were willing to help us whenever they could. Particularly thanks to Winnie and all the receptionists, they’re professional and warm. The food in the restaurant was adequate and tasty. There are plenty eateries nearby. We had great experience there.

A decent business hotel.

The hotel offers clean rooms and service is friendly. The restaurant offers decent dishes at reasonable prices. The hotel's location is, however, not the best. The nearest subway station is about 15 minutes away--by walking. The area is a mix of business and residence: getting a cab at rush hours can be a concern.

i've never been robbed by the hotel ever before till this time. I checked out with balance of 0. When I returned from my trip my card was charged for additional 1000 dollars. Hotel says its for an upgrade that I was entitled to as an elite member of IHG and that the manger who checked me out was supposed to charge me (and that they fired him for it). If you stay here you are supporting this type of ethics and standards. Please do not.

very dishonest staff. stay away if you can and if you have to stay here do not give them your credit card. They will charge you even if when you check out the balance is 0 and you get a bill stating that. AC does not work properly. Many rooms are too warm even on a cool day.

A hot hotel, literally.

The air-conditioner is NOT working. Apparently, the entire hotel's air-conditioning failed. Even the lobby is warm. I am disappointed as I stayed there for 6 days in hot summer.

In addition to this issue, the location has no amenities, and not anywhere near train station. Other than these, the staff were quite friendly.

Not A Good Use of Travel Funds

First and foremost, the staff was kind and helpful. However, the air conditioning was not working, and the heat in Beijing in July is oppressive. They could not locate a fan for the room, and moved us to another room where we were \"assured\" the wall ac unit was operating. It was better, but not adequate to sufficiently cool the room. We slept without blankets, and it was very uncomfortable. I mentioned this in the morning, and no attempt was made to compensate or accommodate further. Simply an acknowledgement that they have ONGOING issues with the AC. Wish they would have mentioned this at check-in. The area of town was not ideal either. There is not much one could have done by foot in terms of restaurants, bars, etc. The irony is that I had inadvertently gone to the Holiday Inn Express in Dongzhimen at first (I got the two locations confused). They were super kind in getting me redirected to this property. I wish I had been able to stay at the Dongzhimen property, but my other reservation was pre-paid (big mistake), and they would not refund (I had tried 3 days prior).

no one spoke english. when i even asked about the sauna opening times at the reception, I even translated it on my phone for them, they said they didnt have a sauna, so I went to the 'fitness centre' floor myself, and saw that they had a sauna, and checked myself what time it closed. mugs weren't cleaned after use. bed sheets had hair from the cleaners after beds were made.

Unexpected respite

This was a last minute reservation replacing reservations at the Traveller Inn Beijing. The Traveller was unacceptable when we arrived, mold in every room and reported bed bugs on various websites. The holiday inn was NONE of this. Good location, executive floor privileges the days we were there.
Very pleasant staff, clean, good food, central location and a good value for the price.
I would definitely recommend travelers stay here!

Comfortable hotel

Spacious, comfortable rooms; friendly staff; excellent breakfast buffet. The location is convenient if you are visiting universities such as BNU or BUPT; it a bit out of the way for the usual tourist attractions, but taxis are readily available.

The Holiday Inn Deshengmen is a nice hotel, and the staff do their best to assist guests. The neighborhood, though not physically far from the city centre, is far enough to require transportation to the major sites. The traffic in Beijing is so bad that you have to plan anywhere from 45 mins. to over an hour to get where you're going. As a result, you are a bit of a captive audience for their restaurants, which are overpriced (try $8 US for a kid-size cup of ice cream). As this is a Western hotel chain, it would benefit the hotel to employ more English speakers.

Beautiful, relaxing room!

Although Holiday Inn Deshengmen was pricier than the other hotel in my trip, it was beautiful, clean, spacious and relaxing room. The above-head over sized shower was fantastic, and large vanity space in the bathroom had enough space for two people to get ready for a formal evening! The tasteful decor, crisp linens and fluffy towels were welcoming after a long flight and program. The room had comfortable bed/pillows, pleasing seating, desk space, ample storage and bathroom space. The closet included a clothes brush. Safes, minibars/refrigerators, toothbrushes/toothpaste, slippers and complimentary bottles of drinking water were common in the hotels we stayed at during our trip. We travelled to Xian for a couple of days and left unnecessary luggage with the concierge. The staff were efficient at arranging taxi cabs when we needed them. Our room had a lovely view and I although I am a light sleeper, I had the best sleep I have ever had at a hotel!

Comfort hotel for the trip

The hotel is comfort and clean. Staffs are nice. For the key card cannot access the door, the staff resolve it promptly.
The location is 10-15 mins that walk from subway station, bus lines also nearby the hotel.
Overall of this hotel is great.

It was horrible! Room was so hot!The air was stale and smelled like a leaf blower was being used in the next room.Turned the thermostat down to cool it down and nothing. Called and had to pack up and change rooms. Same exact thing! Got upgraded to a bigger room. Same exact thing! Room smelled like car exhaust so the manager came(she was sweating while talking to
Me in my room)During breakfast talked to another couple and they had the same problem and complained. I just sat there and sweated all night breathing bad air. Management can barely speak english and had no answers. Just said sorry and acted like it was the 1st time they heard this. HOLIDAY INN TAKE YOUR NANE OFF THIS HOTEL !!!!

Ideal in Smoggy Beijing

Clean and comfortable hotel, with an amazing breakfast buffet and friendly staff. A perfect place to retreat to in the evenings if there is appalling air pollution outside. Unfortunately further than you think from the nearest tube station (JiShuiTan) so worth the 14RMB cab fare if the air pollution is bad (a twenty minute walk otherwise).

American style comforts near Beijing Normal Univer

As a base of operations for a class my team was presenting at BNU the Holiday Inn Deshengmen worked well. It was walking distance from our destination through safe neighborhoods. The hotel provided comforts which were suitable for both Asian and Western tastes . When we did have time to relax it was close enough to transit that we were able to visit some tourist attractions without having to mobilize a fleet of taxis, Summer Palac and Forbidden City by subway and the old city by bus.

This hotel is pretty standard for business travel. Clean and easy to visit. Location is a bout 40 minutes and 100RMB from airport- which is a bit far. otherwise its reliable- they have a good western/ asian hybrid buffet if you like to eat meat you will like it. I had an upgrade and must say the suite was really nice. Very happy.

Very reliable

This is one of 2 Holiday Inn's I prefer in China. It is affordable and very clean. Every time I stay here it is the same reliable experience. I really like the surrounding neighborhood, because there are numerous outdoor mountain climbing shops all with in a nice walk. There is also a lot of the 'Chinese neighborhood' feel if that is what you desire. I am not sure but it seems like a cleaner part of town. People just seam happier in the local streets. There is a few college level schools around so that may have something do with it. Restaurant in the hotel is a western buffet mixed with Chinese. It is really good- a meat lovers dream and not your typical hotel tasting buffet food. But you need to get the timing right- it doesn't seem to be stocked all the time due to a smaller customer base. But it is one of the better buffets I have enjoyed, especially for China.

Staff cleaning the hotel have great attention to detail. Everything is placed very orderly upon my return which includes any items in the floor, desk, chair or bed (ie shoes, clothes, pens, money, etc). Even though I try to not waste and use as little as their daily provided amenities, by the 3rd day, they dumped their provided toothbrush, tooth paste, shaver, cream, soap, towels, etc and provided me with new ones. Bottled water is complimentary and plenty. Gym staff would approach you with towels and water, or help you with any of the equipment.

Very nice and clean hotel, newly refurbished.

We reserved for king bed superior, non-smoking for 3 nights. But when we arrived, we were surprised because our rooms were upgraded to suite during our first night, which is a big deal, because we had the opportunity to be accommodated in a suite, for a price of superior rooms.

The hotel was impeccably clean, with so much amenities and perks, bathrobes, slippers, etc. Accommodation at par with five star hotels.

great place- restuarant needs help

This is one of myfavorite places to stay for being clean, roomy and a good location between the train and airport. A good street to jog up (relitive to bj and some some outdoor shops close by). My only beef is the restaurant. Service is lack luster and some cooks don't seem to know the recipes- which is a shame since they have 3 western cooks leading the locals. My specific issues were a really long wait for lunch- a quesadilla. After about 30 minutes it showed up but without sour cream or guac- clearly mentioned on the menu- after flagging some down for another 5 minutes- it took another 10 minutes to be served the condiments- and of course no guac... and my lucnh was now cold! I went back for dinner where they have a buffet- the food in that buffet is some of the best western food I have experience at a buffet in China- but for some reason they would not restock most of the food. So once it was gone... it was done. Again food that needed to be cooked took atleast 20-30 minutes. Although it was delicious... certainly not a place if your in a rush.

Wonderful, but Isolated

In many aspects, the Holiday Inn Deshengmen was excellent. Comfortable, first-rate beds, clean sheets, immaculate bathroom, very nice service. The gym is reasonably equipped, with treadmills and a few free weights. Its major drawback is its isolation. We stayed here only because we had to be near the Beijing Normal University area. Nevertheless, it was way too far to walk to a subway station. The surrounding area is a bunch of freeways, with one street of restaurants offering a minor selection of dining out options. To get basically anywhere, you have to take a taxi (which is cheap in Beijing, but inconvenient.) If you stay here, I suggest getting the package which includes hotel breakfast, a buffet line which includes a large variety of Western and Chinese options. After getting sick of the local options, we tried to eat there, and immediately switched our dining option at the first chance to eat at the hotel breakfast buffet every morning. Finally, the executive club, free with an executive room, is a delightful oasis in Beijing. Very quiet, with an assortment of beverages, fresh fruit, and free cocktails in the evenings.

Comfortable Place to Stay

The hotel was clean, even by international standards. Also, most non-luxury hotels in China have beds that are as hard as the floor, but the Holiday Inn's bed was comfortably soft yet firm. The breakfast was quite varied and offered something for everyone, even my picky kids. The fitness area and pool were under renovation, but my husband was impressed that they relocated the fitness equipment to a different location rather than shut it down completely. It still gave him the opportunity exercise. The concierge was very helpful in assisting us in booking train tickets and having them delivered to the hotel for us. However unless you really need to stay in that part of town, the hotel is quite a long taxi away from most reasons for going to Beijing. Also, we had to ask three times for a baby bed before they brought it to us. Lastly, our room was quite hot, making it difficult to sleep. Nevertheless, in general it was a nice and relaxing place to stay.

Nice hotel, but bad location

We arrived a day earlier before our tour started. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the staff courteous. The only negative was the poor location of this hotel. It was located in a sort of run-down neighborhood and after walking around the area, we found no good restaurants in the surrounding area. We tried the plain-looking Chinese restaurant next door and the food was disappointing. The walk to the subway was farther than we expected, perhaps a little over a mile away and we didn't find the entrance to the subway easily. If you are not on a tour, I would stay at a hotel in a better location.

カメラ機材の展示会P&Eに参加するために宿泊。周囲は静かで良いが、余り周辺にはお店はありません。ホテルは綺麗で良く整備されていますし、チェックインで待たせたというこでウェルカムドリンクを、無料で提供してくださったりと、気配りも細かく、非常に快適でした。

OK business hotel - location not good for holiday.

3rd time on same business trip at this hotel. This time we experienced issues with heating in corner rooms. Staff was friendly and did exchange us to rooms with working aircon/heating. Overall friendly, no-frills, hotel with OK fitness incl. sauna, but no pool, no bathtubs anywhere. Good if having business nearby.

Stayed Exec Floor, where rooms are identical to lower floors. Only difference is bedding - shower and bed identical to regular floors. Had access to Exec Club. Nice breakfast, not too exiting. Wifi working OK. Fitness OK. Inhouse Spa very expensive. Got a free drink on my Priority Club card, even though I booked via hotels.com. Local area not interesting. Would only stay here if I had business in the area.
