The whole ryokan experience was great with only 2 things that needs to be improved. First being the in-room dinner service: the staff didn't mention that meal was being served as courses and we thought the initial portion served was the entire thing. The rice was missing so I had to check with the reception on this. It was confusing on both ends as receptionist mentioned that the staff would have informed us that dinner is served 3 courses but we were not aware.
Food was great and delicious but do not expect to take your own sweet time to eat. Staff will clear it within 1 hour even if you have not finished eating.
Second thing was that the bidet was not working! Receptionist was informed twice and they said they will check it out but nothing was fixed.. was honestly really disappointed in this.
The payable private onsen wasn't anything spectacular, not worth the JPY 3,300 IMHO.

Enjoyed our one night stay at this Ryokan style hotel at Kawaguchiko. Staff was really helpful and very nice. The ambiance was peaceful and had the traditional Japanese aesthetic. Also got to use the on premise public onsen by myself! And our room had direct view of Mt Fuji which was awesome since we were lucky to get clear days.

I had a positive stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Upon arrival, even before the official check-in time, they kindly offered to store my luggage so I could begin sightseeing right away. They also provided a complimentary shuttle to the bus terminal, which was very convenient. It is an easy walk downhill from the bus station to the hotel, but carrying luggage back uphill can be a challenge—so the shuttle was much appreciated.
The room itself was clean, quiet, and comfortable, with excellent shower water pressure.
The spa facilities are a highlight, though each has its own character. The 6th-floor spa offers a beautiful view of the lake. It features a small outdoor warm bath (suitable for two) and a large indoor warm bath, but no sauna, steam bath, or cold plunge. The basement spa, on the other hand, is more extensive, with a large outdoor bath overlooking a stone waterfall, a spacious indoor warm bath, a cold plunge bath, and a sauna. The sauna was not operating during my early-morning visit at 6 a.m., though to be fair, this may have been due to the early hour.
The traditional Japanese breakfast was excellent, and the dining room provided a gorgeous view of the lake and surrounding mountains, making for a memorable start to the day.
Overall, this property offers great service, very good value, and an excellent location. I would gladly recommend it to other travelers.

Not sure why this is a 3 star hotel. I had a 5 star experience with the customer service staff. I booked a standard room and wanted to upgrade. The room I got(although last minute) had a really nice view to the lake. The place is really well maintained and the food was good. I will definitely come back.

Great place to stay if you want to hike Fuji, close to Kawaguchiko station made it easy to get around. Staff were friendly, no language barriers. The bath is great, with good views on the 7th floor. it is a pity the room we had doesn't have a view though. The staff are nice, very polite. The whole vibe was great, including provided kimonos, private dinner rooms, communal breakfast, multiple onsens, gorgeous garden. Fantastic experience for 1 night. Enjoyed the Japanese style room with outdoor bath and view of the lake. We opted for the included dinner which they serve in your room and it has many courses, so we were extremely full. Breakfast was served in the dining room which was also abundant. Great stay and well worth the price. We found this hotel convenient with a 10min walk to Kowaguchiko station with a slight hill and 5min walk to the base of the ropeway.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were all helpful and kind. The food was delicious (be prepared for A LOT of food at breakfast and dinner) and we loved our in-room onsen . The hotel is showing its age with some visible wear and tear but it didn’t detract from the enjoyment of our stay. The location can’t be beat. I would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you to all of the staff.

Honestly, I’ve stayed at a lot of 4 star hotels and I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Kasuiei Ohya!
Then setting is beautiful, the room was immaculate, the staff was sincere, helpful and accommodating.
They even went out of their way to assist in filling out our luggage transfer paperwork so it arrived at our next destination easily.

Amazing! I was fortunate enough to stay one night here and I wish I could have stayed more! The staff is so nice and courteous, the room was a dream, definitely a highlight of my trip to Japan! I booked for half boarding and the food was traditional Japanese style meals that were good and awesome to experience. The room had a lake view that was calming and the hot baths were soothing. I also was fortunate enough to book a massage at the spa downstairs and it was the perfect cherry on top! Thank you Kasuitei Ohya for the amazing hospitality and experience! Hope to have the chance to be back again someday!

We stayed in their condo as a splurge for our honeymoon and VERY glad we did. Things close early in the area so we knew we wanted a great place to stay and relax. As a vacation hotel room, this space is amazing! I will say though, quality of what is within the room was a bit inconsistent with how luxe it appeared, for example: toilet paper was terrible, towels were super thin and rough, the laundry room included was actually super tiny under a staircase and a shock that they'd even want guests to step in there (I ended up paying for the coin laundry down the street which was SO nice). So despite the room aesthetics being super nice, there was definitely some head tilting moments of wondering if some things were neglected and cheap, and just nice at the surface... I don't feel inclined to book again.
