My five-day stay at Golden Coast Hotel & Bungalows was underwhelming overall. While the beachfront location is beautiful, the resort fell short of expectations in comfort, food, and hospitality.

This property caters primarily to an older, retirement-age crowd—so if you’re in your 20s–40s looking for a lively or modern resort, this isn’t the place. The food was disappointing and repetitive, the rooms outdated, and the bungalows had noticeable maintenance issues. There was little to no entertainment, and even the “all-inclusive” perks felt limited—everything, including beach towels, came with an extra fee.

Transportation was another major frustration. Like many places in Greece, it seems there’s a markup system between hotels and drivers—expect to pay €50–€60 for a short 15-minute ride that should cost half that. It feels like a common scheme, so budget accordingly or consider renting a car.

As an African-American traveler, I also want to note that my companion and I often felt uncomfortable. We experienced frequent staring, lack of greetings, and an overall unwelcoming vibe at times. We still made the most of our stay, but it’s important for other travelers to be aware of this dynamic.

The highlights? The seaside view and the friendly cats that roam the property. Beyond that, this resort missed the mark for a genuine Greek experience.

In short: Beautiful beach, but overpriced transfers, dated facilities, and poor inclusivity. Best suited for retirees

The resort is very nice with plenty of places for people to sit and relax or play games. The two restaurants cater for breakfast (Olympia) and lunch and dinner and the bar has snacks and drinks. All inclusive is reasonable and the food is very good but with limited vegetarian options. The rooms were not always cleaned properly during the week. The sink situation within the walkin shower area was inconvenient and messy but the shower was powerful.

We had an absolute great time. I don’t even know where to begin…

We came here with a wide open mind, 2 women who don’t speak anything other than English, and we had absolutely no issues. All staff are welcoming, kind, very helpful, and do their most to make you feel at home. We went to a few entertainment nights, some of the events are put on by the French club, those were in French. Other events organized were in French, Greek, or English. Everything was fun and inclusive to all guests.

We had no idea what to expect for our room, but we were happily surprised at how clean and tidy it was. Staff were by daily for cleaning, we always arrived back at our room to a clean and tidy space. We had an air conditioning unit that took some figuring out, but we managed just fine and slept well without overheating. The bathroom was spacious and we had no issues what so ever.

The food was great. Once we got used to Greek meal times (Canadians eat early I guess!), we were ready to enjoy our day and saunter to meals and enjoy our time. We never felt rushed and we always left feeling satisfied and well fed. Everything was tasty and there was plenty of variety, even some themed nights!

We were unsure if an all inclusive resort was the way to go about Greece, but we found we had the perfect way to split up our itinerary. We had travel days: flew to Mykonos, taxi’d to Athens, ferried over to Andros, and we enjoyed pool/beach days in between! I really can’t say enough good things! Thank you!

Brilliant stay! We would go back

Our stay in one of the Bungalows This Aug 2025 was brilliant. We were close to all the facilities and had a separate bedroom from the kids, plus a well equipped kitchen. The AI food was very good with a great selection for us and our kids. Having the beach right on our doorstep with so many water sports was also great. The staff were all kind and so helpful - especially as I arrived on crutches. They transported us and the luggage to our bungalow on arrival - thanks to the guy in reception - and the head of the restaurant- was very welcoming, helpful and kind. Yes the entertainment was in French but we were prepared for that and joined in when we could ie. with the pool activities. Our kids didn’t do the clubs but they had their own separate pools too - although it was probably French speaking.
We had a brilliant time and we’d go back. Thanks to all who made us so welcome and to the hotel facilities for providing everything we needed for a very special holiday.

We were very impressed with this resort, it was clean, very well run, and staff were helpful. Things like the air con was not freezing, very comfortable, where there was music around the pool, it was a perfect volume (not too loud) and very good easy listening. We were very impressed with the size of the family room, which actually had a separate room for the children. We liked the variety of food during our 5 night stay.

Great pools, not too good that people reserve sunbeds for hours before using them.
Food fantastic for a buffet.
Drinks ok, strong.
Worst part is rooms are basic with no kettle.
Unfortunately our rooms shower was broken and barely stayed on the wall and window wouldn’t close.
Free beach sunbeds and plentiful.
Not a lot to do in the evening and entertainment French dominated.

Have enjoyed my stay here very much the only draw back is the entertainment is geared only for the French people, and not in any other language not even for the greeks which seems a bit odd.some of the lifeguards seem scared of the french , would'nt intervene when towels were from sunbeds when my daughter was in the pool, except from one named Otto very helpful kept an eye on my daughter as well as us.
The rest of the hotel / canteen staff were excellent very helpful.

I personally think what you need to improve is the quality of your drinks for all inclusive. The coffee was not strong, because it was instant not from beans, the cocktails were poorly made and all of it were served in paper cups that got soaked in minutes. The place all together is wonderful in terms of food,views and hospitality.

Great experience.
Flying in from the US, I feel comfortable comparing this property to all inclusive resorts in Mexico for example. It’s is more remote; 30-45 min from the airport and a bit over 1 hr from
Athens. The rooms/bungalows are close to everything. The reception staff is responsive. There are water sports available at an extra fee at the beach.
Areas that need improvement are- food variety, irons availability in each room, more seating at the beach, lobby entertainment and lobby bar being opened.

The staff was helpful and courteous. Sometimes a language barrier but worked through it. Family room was perfect for 4 and beds were comfortable. Drinks, food, weather were excellent! It was more crowded on the Holiday weekend but cleared out again. The beach was fun and filled up quickly. Nice walking path that is paved. Taxis were easy to access and drivers were friendly and accommodating. Did I say the food was excellent!! Definitely sharing this location and reasonable price with friends and family. Can’t wait to visit again.

I loved the fact that the hotel was on the beach and it was all inclusive. The staff was nice but I didn't like the rooms. I requested two twin beds but got a double bed when I got there. They explained that Experian did not specify. I was moved to another room with a double bed that could be separated but there was not enough room to separate the beds. The tv in this room was a 32 inch ( no smart tv). I left my US to European converter plug so be sure to bring yours. The local retailer has them for purchase. I got two on Amazon for about $6. One cost over $20 Euros there. The hotel does not provide transportation. Taxis are used for transportation and could get expensive. It costs $43 Euros to get to the hotel. Round trip to Athens is $100 Euros.

stay was very pleasant. The villa was clean but the following need attention;
1. mattresses were not comfortable they were very thin comparted to most other hotels.
2. Shower hold kept fall down during use. reported to reception, maintenance person came but did fix it completely as the thread on the holder were worn out.
3. Very little variety of food for breakfast lunch and dinner. Almost the same menu everyday. food was very blend.
4. need more evening entertainment

Then... the shock of the room kicked in , horrible conditions and really outdated furniture,only the bathroom was decent. Food choices were very limited and repetitive, little options for the amount of tourists on the property... also, dont travel there before 1st of june, thats when the season starts.... our first few days were hrrible, no entertainment, no music,...

The hotel is found in a very good place - green area and very close to the beach. The facilities are kept accessible and organized. Had issues with the shower in the rooms ( rented two rooms) but managed to handle the issue by myself. Really like the hotel and can’t wait to visit again!!

We had a wonderful stay at Golden Coast Hotel & Bungalows!
The entire experience exceeded our expectations — the staff was incredibly kind and helpful, the food was delicious and varied, and the hotel grounds were beautiful and well-maintained. It’s a perfect place for families, with everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

The only suggestion we’d like to make is regarding the animation. All activities and entertainment were conducted only in French, which made it difficult for non-French-speaking guests to participate. Adding English-language options would make the experience more inclusive and enjoyable for all visitors.

Thank you for a lovely vacation — we would definitely return!

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It isn't a fancy resort but it gives you everything for a relaxing time by the seaside. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The food is very good and there is a variety, even so for my picky American husband. There are many drink options for the all inclusive price, including beer, wines, and well spirits. If you want a fancy or named brand drink, however, you will pay for those and it is an average price. But for the price point, it is well worth it.

There are 2 pools and 2 poolsode bars. There is access to the beach area and there are also a few closeby restaurants in walking distance as well. It was definitely a nice slow paced change after several days in Athens.

You can also rent bikes to take a leisurely ride along the sea. We would love to come back. The resort and the rooms were also very clean. The staff is always helpful and most speak English.

We would love to come back!!!

We booked this location blindly, looking for somewhere convenient to get to from Athens airport. We were truly delighted. This place has everything we could need, copious amounts of free parking, on site restaurants, pools, bars, a well-stocked shop, and comfortable and clean accommodation, all right next to the beach. The area around the resort is a little sparse but some good places to grab a coffee and a spot of lunch along the beach front. The staff were fantastic and most of the facilities are new, making this a sparkling oasis in the Marathon area. Wouldn’t hesitate to return and already planning our next visit.

We did not feel welcomed at the resort with the exception of a few dining staff -Anastasia,Helen and one other (blonde short hair). It seems the staff were not welcoming of ethnically diverse Americans . The Olympia dining Lead staff/ supervisor was outright rude to my husband on one occasion . He also never greeted us with a smile as he did with other guests. We saw him daily for meals and this is the face I'll remember of my unpleasant Greek experience.
We encountered two very unpleasant experiences where we were treated with disrespect and condescension while at the resort and from there we were met with daily unpleasant racially based encounters while exploring nearby businesses. We found it very difficult to enjoy this vacation.

Room comfort: poor/ loud noises, lots of insects in room stains on sheets and mattress no mattress cover or fitted sheets (housekeeping friendly)
Activities: limited and not as advertised in all inclusive rate, staff led activities are all facilitated in French only and unable to participate due to language differences.
Definitely not worth a $4000 Vacation but so glad we did not book an extended stay as originally planned .
We will not likely return to Greece and if ever we will choose to visit Greece in the future we will definitely research which city is most welcoming of brown biracial individuals and interracial couples.

Nice enough hotel, appalling food!

The resort itself was quite nice (not sure I would say 4 stars). Main building looked recently refurbished. Bungalow rooms, where we stayed, were dated but comfortable enough. The staff were very good, and (we stayed early in the season) always plenty of available loungers on the beach, around the pool and seating in common areas.

The main issue for us was the food and drink. It was very low quality and we barely ate. The two restaurants both had exactly the same food every day (the website implies they offer different choices) and the 'snacks from the pool bar' were just leftovers from main meal times - we were expecting maybe a poolside grill where hot food could be ordered. The main dining rooms/buffets were terrible. Perhaps because we are British and this resort is aimed at the French market - while I'm not saying that we expected burgers and chips, there was little that appealed - lots of offal, and the majority of dishes were cheap meat in very greasy sauces. There wasn't a great deal of choice and it felt very school-canteen (and the hotel hosted lots of school/youth football team trips, so avoid if that isn't your thing!). The all-inclusive drinks (sodas and juices) both in the self serve areas and at the bars were not calibrated properly (i.e. concentrate to water ratio) and so were very syrupy and the fruit juices tasted like pure concentrate. Pools freezing - no one could go in despite hot weather and all very deep - not suitable for young kids.

Nice size villa for a family. Rooms a little dated but ok. Is off the beaten track and away from the village so a car is essential. Outside area needs a tidy and there are noisy dogs on a farm across the road which my children found a little intimidating.
Had a lovely walk into Galaxidi though taxi services so had to walk back too which was fine for us. Pool not heated but was not expecting it to be so out of season is cold but we still used it

Didn't like the food, was not tasty and the variety was no good. Lack of entertainment, the beach was not clean and had rocks in the sea, so our feet would be sore stepping into the water. Bed was very uncomfortable and the double was 2 single beds joined together & sheets were not changed over 4 days, most of the bar staff were rude apart from a few. Would not stay here again.

This isn't an all inc that I have ever experienced before!
So we stayed here for 4 nights and were in the bungalows, the rooms were spacious and clean, although the bathroom could do with some updating.
There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room but there was a fridge. There are 3 pools, so they never felt crowded, the beach is a few minutes walk through reception. They had morning yoga and aqua aerobics in the pool next to the beach, you just need to find out the times. Only local brand drinks are included, any branded alcohol and soft drinks are at a charge. Meals times are limited, so not available all day. Limited veggie and vegan options, enough to have a good meal, but the food gets repetitive, if you eat meat, its not a problem. Again the 'snacks' available at the bars aren't useful for veggies/vegans. There are long periods between availability of meals. The only entertainment is geared towards the french, so nothing for other languages. You can't get bottled water, unless you buy it at the onsite shop, they do have water fountains at each bar, so can fill up a bottle of your own, or get a glass from the bar. The beach/pool towels are only available near the beach bar and you have to pay a €10 deposit for each one which is fully refundable. Ice cream is available during meals times, which you just scoop yourselves, however if you want one between meals, they are available at the bars but you have to pay for them.

The hotel has a very nice beach with lounge chairs and parasols, it's very clean mostly sandy and the landscape is nice. There are no showers directly on the beach though. There are several swimming pools and a mini golf. One should bring cash because there is no ATM in the resort and a guarantee deposit is necessary to borrow equipment. The rooms are clean and comfortable but you can hear everything happening in the corridors. The bathroom is very unpractical but it mostly works. The food included is quite ok and there is some variety. The soft drinks included, on the other hand, are not great: they all come from the same brand so you don't have coca cola but a similar drink from that brand, and unfortunately the juices taste like medecine. At breakfast you can have an actual orange juice but you need to pay 2€ for a glass.
The staff is very accommodating and polite.

Overall a pleasant stay.
Tooms in good consition but not recently refurbished as the pictures that they advertise online.
Great all inclusive food offer.
2 negatives during our stay, one was the rude staff member that was potentially a supervisor on the lunch restaurant that was giving take away food to everyone but refused to give for our 2 year old that was sleeping at lunch. Eventually provided the take away box but with an attitude that was like they were doing us a favour.
The second negative the cleaner of the rooms that requested to be tipped so that we would get our room cleaned and because we didn’t we ended up not having the room cleaned for 2 days were we had to go at the reception and request it to be cleaned.

We had an excellent 8 day stay at the golden coast hotel and bungalows. Food was excellent and the highlight of our stay- lots of variety and authentic greek food and the grilled meats were particularly good. The rooms were very nice and had very good air conditioning which was vital in 38 degree heat! Mary at reception was very helpful with advice and arranging us a private car during the taxi strike. We look forward to returning again!

I visit the Golden Coast every year. The hotel is convenient and good value for money. Staff speak multiple languages, and it feels very safe on the complex and outside. There are 3 main pools, plus a pool for kids who attend the day care which has both morning and afternoon sessions. There’s two restaurants that have a wide variety of food options.
The reason, I’m giving 4 stars is because they have got rid of the spa. The spa was run by experienced therapists and offered a wide range of treatments. I always looked forward to treating myself to a massage while on holiday. It was always busy, so I’m confused as to why they got rid of it. Please bring it back!!
I would also suggest that the hotel advertises that to obtain towels for the pool you need to leave a 10 euro (for each towel) deposit. You get that back once you return your towels at the end of your stay. This was fine by me, however I noticed other guests being rude and arguing with the towel lady about this policy. The lady in charge of the towels does not make this rule, she just works there. So, hotel managers, please inform guests at arrival to save this poor woman unnecessary abuse as she is just trying to do her job.
Other than this, I love the hotel.

we liked a lot of the food and the drinks too. the pools were clean. the maids were good. close to the beach - the beach is right behind the property.
didnt like that the entertainment was french despite us being english and staying at a greek hotel. also the holiday reps wouldnt answer a simple question to us just because we werent french.

the reception staff were very helpful when my charger broke and charged my phone for me. however not great when asked about transport

The staff at this facility were very kind. The resort is very family friendly and they were so kind to us. I did get push back for extra pillows but they still accommodated my grandmother because of her medical condition. There is nothing fancy about this place but the food is amazing, people are very kind, and the resort amenities (pool, beach, bars and minimart) were wonderful.

Antidote to the Athens bustle

Last minute booking to this hotel. Lovely pool area, great snacks and drinks and friendly staff. Dinner and breakfast was high quality, well presented with lots of choice. We only had one night stay, but left wanting more. Beach and view to die for. Perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of the city. Easy drive in and out, plenty of free parking.

Everyone speaks only French so for Americans, its difficult. Food is absolutely unpalatable.We spent extra money everyday eating out at neighboring restaurant that we had to walk to, because the food and drinks were so watered down and terrible.

A decent place for a short holiday - more of a 3 star place.

We stayed for 4 nights.

Food was good but they just have buffets so it would get repetitive if you were staying any longer than a few days.

Beach was very nice. Pools were good too. The lifeguards were fun to talk to - very nice people.

Not sure about the animation staff… I think one of the young women who works there accused me of trying to steal the beach volleyball when a group of us started using it to play (you guessed it) some beach volleyball!!! Very weird interaction but her English wasn’t very good so I may have lost something in translation. Strange.

Overall, a great little place but I wouldn’t want to spend any more than a few days here as things would get old very fast.

For the price, the hotel is excellent. Lovely staff, excellent drinks, the food is fine. The only issue is that the advertised activities are led by a French company that is unrelated to the hotel itself. They have strange hours, do not speak English or Greek, and in general made it difficult to enjoy the amenities. For a few days of relaxing, drinking, enjoying the beach its great, however.

What a fun spot, a great rest and recharge for our family in the midst of a busy trip. Plentiful and varied food, drinks, activities. The rooms are a little older, but nothing that bothered us, especially at the price. Full fridge was nice to have, loved the balcony. The beach just outside as nice to enjoy. Would recommend and would return myself.

We chose to stay here in the off season for our one day layover before a flight out of Athens, having already explored the Athens city center earlier in our trip. It was a relaxing end to the vacation, with a comfortable room, beach access, and included food and drink. We arrived very shortly before dinner closed, so the very nice staff drove us across the property to dinner before checking us in which was greatly appreciated. Food was okay, nothing special but lots of options. The taxi to and from the airport was fairly expensive, cheaper to get yourself rather than have reception book one for you. Would be nice if they added a shuttle.

My family and I had a wonderful time at this resort. The hotel staff and animation team work very hard to make your stay enjoyable! The food was delicious and plentiful. There are many options offered at every meal and snacks are available at two bars. The rooms are somewhat dated, but the beds were very comfortable. Yes, the animation team is French but they work very hard to provide various activities and entertainment that do not require you to understand French (ex: dance lessons, yoga, water aerobics, etc.). Besides relaxing by the beach or the pool, we also enjoyed playing mini-golf, ping-pong and tennis during our stay.

For an all inclusive resort it did not have much to offer. Most of the events they had were in French, you are limited on what drinks you could get All inclusive stop at 11pm. The food on the resort was ok. Hotel was very quiet, mainly older individuals

The rooms are a bit dated, could use a facelift. But the staff, facilities around the property are outstanding. Easy access to the beach which is stunning. It’s all inclusive but the food and drinks lacking but there is amazing local restaurants all along the beach with great services and exceptional food. The buffet is convenient for a quick bit if you are in a hurry. Again, the staff are super helpful.
