Gorgeous property! Exceptional staff throughout! Views were amazing! Quick walk to beach down the steps. Great pool area with hot tub , sauna and ice plunge as well! All overlooking the ocean! Beautiful rooms, decor and amazing large balconies with fire pit, couch and more fab views! 5 star resort in all ways possible !

I have stayed all over Southern California and this location and vibe can’t be beat! Very few kids stay here it is more for adults but my 18 year old daughter and I had the perfect time. The staff is great and very accommodating. For sure take a chance on this one . Tucked between Carlsbad and Encinitas.

We booked for 3 nights. Needed to stay an extra night. Staff u helpful and I accommodating. Said we had to look online to see if there was any availability. Not cool. And definitely not what a good hotel should do. They had our card number. They could have extended the stay accordingly and not make us go through that. We ultimately did. Would not recommend staying here. A lot of posturing about this hotel. But it's all smoke and mirrors. Stay somewhere else.

We enjoyed an amazing long weekend. This hotel was perfect. Fire table room. Great pool, hot tub. The pool restaurant in perfect. Nice workout center and amenities. Hotel restaurant is amazing. Over 3 days one dinner was very slow but food outstanding and their service team cares to make your experience amazing. Right from arrival to our departure the staff/team care and want your stay to be fabulous. Thank you for giving us that amazing memorable time together.

Overall nice hotel with good views. Just be aware that there is a MANDATORY daily resort fee of $62 per night that is charged at checkout. Therefore, whatever is your rate, be aware that you will have to pay an extra $62 per night. In my case, I had 2 rooms for 3 night and had a bill for $372 for resort fee PLUS almost $200 for parking for 1 car for 3 nights. I hope hotels stop the scam of resort fees.

Beautifully decorated room and patio. It was simply top-notched for creature comfort - fully-established mini-bar and treats. The shower was incredible - hardware is modern. Robes and slippers were provided. The fire pit is a nice touch to the bottom floor rooms.

Rooms were so thin you can hear everything. EVERYTHING. Might want to think about bringing kids because they will ask questions about what the noise coming from next door is. Other than that, staff is great. Vaga’s food was great.

One of a kind experience! Everything was top notch. The experience was relaxing and fun. Enjoyed free surf boards, E-Bikes to explore Encinitas and Yoga overlooking the ocean. I have been here 4 times. The first time was when they were just opening and I had good experience with the room and service. Since then things have fallen apart. Service hour and items are more and more limited while room rate doubled from 400 to 800 a night. This time, I called at 9:40pm to place in room dinning order and I wanted a pot of decaf coffee. The staff told me they dumped their coffee already and would not offer me a new pot. That’s not what I expected. If the advertised closing time is 10pm I would expect menu items be available at 9:59pm. The room came with a mini bar serving red wine and champagne but provided no proper glasses for them. We had to use water glass for our beverages. Lastly the salads we ordered in room gave both my wife and I funny stomach, not straight up food poisoning but uncomfortable feeling. The property seems to be short staffed which could explain all the above problems but they have been charging market rate for 4-5 star hotel in this region with considerable less service, so I don’t buy the notion of macroeconomic impact.

The place was amazing. However, the privacy on the fire pit area did not exist. They need to put some kind of barrier between the patios like bamboo stocks. The food in the restaurant was outstanding in the view was amazing. Would definitely come back. They should’ve had blankets already in the rooms for the patio area instead of have to call and get them delivered. Small touches add a lot.

Can’t ride bikes in this area even though they provide them. Nowhere to walk the beach or hike from property. Very limited. Many other beach areas are better choices Wouldn’t choose this hotel again. Absolutely amazing. Loved the view from the coastal view room and the food at Vaga was spectacular. They are very accommodating to gluten free guests. The pool staff were very attentive and the day in the cabana was perfect.

My husband and I wanted to do a staycation as Encinitas locals who never stayed at Alila. I booked the room through Expedia and at check in, to our bewilderment, the front desk agent said that our 2 Queen bedroom hosts a maximum of 2 guests while we stood there with our 9 year old daughter. He then went on to say that for us to stay, we needed to buy a separate room at the ADR ($700+) for our child - a minor. Expedia does not make mention of this when advertising this hotel and offers false info. - like 24 hr. room service as well as the 2 welcome drinks included with the $55 resort fee. My parents live nearby and were able to swing by and pick up my daughter for the evening but we'd have preferred to leave as soon as we felt totally discriminated against as a family at check-in- we were within the nonrefundable booking window so we felt obligated to stay. The front desk agent required me to sign a waiver stating that my child would not be loud or ..... act like a child. When we went to the pool area, there was a sign suggesting that children under the age of 16 were not allowed into the Jacuzzi for the 'comfort' of guests. The hotel's website only 'suggests' that this is a hotel that 'caters to adults' rather than saying it is an adult only hotel where children aren't allowed. That's probably because in the state of California it is UNLAWFUL & in violation of the unruh Civil Rights Act. They are under legal scrutiny, we learned from a quick google search. Shame on them!!!

It was quiet and relaxing. I booked a room with a big terrace and a firepit. It was exactly what I needed for my mommy get away. My only complaint would be the lack of self parking. The valet parking is insanely priced. Also the pool area is fairly small so you might not have a place to lay out in. The staff was attentive and nice.

The room and the hotel itself along with the staff are excellent, along with the views. We had a concern with the privacy and quietness with the rooms that we can hear the neighboring guests talking. I stayed in room 133 and they were at 131. There was a wooden door between us and I guess it was not very sound proof. Also we can hear guests staying right above us walking around in their rooms. I believe the ceiling soundproof was also not done right.

Just a gorgeous property and every single staff member was outstanding and I mean that. I had more interaction with Marty and he's just wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable. I have arthritis and had I known our room would have been so far from the lobby (151) I would have asked to perhaps switch. Loved the Coffee Box and Vaga.The room appointments were spot on and amazing, best shower ever especially the eucalyptus in the shower. My complaint of the room is a lighted makeup mirror on the wall would have been great OR the kind of vanity mirror that is lit all the way around. The bathroom is lit too dimly to do makeup. To us, there isn't enough hustle and bustle at this lovely place and probably purposely no real gathering space. We didn't know the property is one for tranquility,but so glad we tried Alila Marea. So lovely but perhaps not for us. Thank you to the entire staff.

From checking in after 4 pm while requesting a early check in for my husbands birthday I was told my room would be ready and was being finished up to only find out we sat around for 4 hours because we thought our room was almost ready indeed it was not even close” then we finally get checked in after 4 pm and we receive someone else’s luggage up to our room with none of our expensive luggage or belongings. THEN we order food only to have it take almost 2 hours and receive the most disgusting non editable food and hard short ribs! This was the worst experience I’ve ever had

Stunning new hotel on the beach with large stylish rooms, great restaurants and fitness center with beach access and pool with sunset views. Close to all the great North San Diego beach towns...although you will be tempted to enjoy the property and never leave! We will be back in May with the whole family. Great for adults and also fun for smaller kids.

Had a fire pit room on the 1st floor, which made up for a cold foggy one night stay, couldn’t see the sun, coastline or sunset. The bushes and shrubbery around the fire pit would be nice if they had been watered, the shower was awesome but would be better if the frameless glass door was aligned properly and didn’t sound like glass on glass when it closed ready to shatter. All in all beautiful property, but like most of my Hyatt experiences, would be elevated if maintained better. Passed the white glove test for room cleanliness, bed and pillows were great, dining was high priced but enjoyable.

Was extremely disappointed to arrive and NOT get the reservation I was promised (and paid for prior to our stay). I called the day before and the day of our reservation and was confirmed with two rooms ocean view with patio and fire pit and when we arrived - one room was moved to another level with balcony only, the other room was with a patio and no fire pit! One room was not ready for 2 hours and we were not given a discount, food vouchers and/or parking covered for our trouble. To continue, this was a surprise trip for my friends and when the rooms were not what I had paid for and not adjoining, I asked to speak to a manager who implied I was lying when I informed him I had contacted the property twice prior to arrival to confirm my reservation. It was the most expensive humiliating experience I have had and unfortunately this traveler (who visits south county more than twice per month) will NEVER be staying at this \"resort.\"

The personal service and accommodation of the staff was wonderful. We had reserved for dinner at Vaga restaurant but somehow it didn’t show on their end. Okay where to start! I absolutely loved the staff in this resort. From front desk with Francisco and Ismael, to The Pocket staff, Scott, Dominic, and Brittany. To the guest experience staff Denise who took care of small hiccups during our stay. We are so grateful for your team! We loved the food, drinks, and desserts. The views were stunning! The pool and hot tub were clean and at great temperatures. Make sure to rent a complimentary E-bike, that was such a nice touch! Overall I would rate our stay 10/10! We will be back :).

I had a really great experience. When I booked, it was a wedding, which kind of did not leave us access to certain areas in the property. Which was fine because everyone was very nice and friendly. We still got to enjoy the property or last day and it was a very different and I really enjoyed the room that I stayed in With the ocean view and it was beautiful. The resort fee and daily parking fee is a little outrageous. There is no free parking and the only option is valet. There isn’t much in a walkable distance (food or shopping) so a vehicle is a must. There were a a few groups of twentysomethings also staying at the resort during our stay there. One group of girls were screaming on their balcony and when I turned to see what they were yelling about one of the girls flashed me. I had no desire to see a naked young female screaming on their balcony during my stay. It was also near the pool and a public walkway where children could have easily been present. The facility was otherwise beautiful and well maintained. Staff was very friendly as well.

Management needs to address the training of the staff at front desk and in the restaurant. A five star resort can't charge over $800 a night for just an oceanfront location. Overall, a great experience. Our check-in was scheduled for 4:00 PM but our room wasn't ready until 5:15. Not idea but we enjoyed a few drinks with ocean views at the hotel bar.

Terrible experience
When we checked in we were given one of the worst rooms possible. It was directly over the service entry garage, had a massive concrete overhang which made the room very dark and no patio. I had bought the top tier room so this was a massive let down. I couldn't imagine this specific room was worth $1000 so I called the front desk to ask about it and they realized they had made a mistake. They said they would move us to a room we had originally reserved but it was going to be 5-10mins because they were busy. That was no problem. We waited in the lobby and 20mins later someone came up to us and said “what room are you in?” And he was incredibly frustrated and exhausted, looked like he had been running around. He never introduced himself and began to talk negatively about his whole staff who have been a mess today. He told us to follow him and he legitimately ran off leaving us with our luggage to scramble and follow him as quickly as possible. He didn’t offer to help us with our bags, let alone apologize for the inconvenience. He was more concerned about being upset and making it clear to us what a bad day he was having. It was absolutely not the welcome I expected for a high end property.
We decided to lay by the pool and after 1.5hrs of absolutely no one coming over to ask if we needed anything we left.
The hotel itself is nice, the new room was great, however the staff and service was not only poor but actually made us feel incredibly unwelcome and not taken care of.

When I arrived I was told complimentary valet parking and turns out they charge $60 or something like that when you go to check out. Room was thin walls and we heard our neighbors which woke us up at 7am. Hotel was very empty but they put us next door to loud neighbors with 20 plus rooms empty in both directions. Stay at a better hotel. This one is not worth the money.
