This is 100% the best place to stay at of you want to have the most authentic Nara Deer experience. When my partner and I were arriving late to check in the clerk stayed an extra 30 min waiting for us. She is a hero!🙏 The place is 30 min from the downtown area so do order or buy food for dinner as you wont find anything nearby, but its 100% worth it because of the location and the staff! Thank you so much for having us and being great hosts!

This lodging was perfect for visiting the park. Facility was clean, quiet, our room was spacious, & the staff very friendly. They let us know about evening lantern event, and breakfast available for purchase at 9am in a cafe near by. Location in the park is convienent for some travelers without transportation visiting the park. It was a short hike from the bus stop at the museum. Could use a sign at the bottom of hill on bus route for lodging location. Of the park workers we asked, no one seemed to know where \"The Deer Park Inn\" was located. We followed the walking route on google maps to find it from the museum. As a hostel our room had western style bunk beds, which were nice. Property is not wheelchair accessible. They do provide this information on thier website, but take note it is located on a hill & there are many stairs.

Other than the area around the inn having very few restaurants that all close around 4-5 pm (which is to be expected because it's in the park) which led us to walk a good while to get groceries, we had a very nice stay and even found that to accommodate for the lack of stores nearby, there are some instant ramens and other food to purchase in the common area for dinner past five pm. Thank you for hosting us!

First off: the listing says laundry facilities are available, but they are not (yet). This is important because the nearest laundromat is 30 minutes away.

Otherwise, it's a wonderful place to stay overnight in Nara. We spent 3 nights enjoying the park. Deer right outside every morning. 2 great restaurants right down the stairs, but everything nearby closes around 16:00. Drink machines abound, but plan to stock up at the 7-11 at the park entrance (15 minutes) to cook dinner or have snacks at the Inn. They offer a small selection of instant ramen and such you can purchase for 200 yen in the kitchen if you forget and are hungry. Very kind staff. Just keep in mind you won't have access to laundry or convenient store hours.

Felt very welcome and also thankful to the staff who recommended that we get food before everything closed in the area. They sent emails prior, to warn us which was great. The hotel is a little old but clean. I had a very simple room with a double bed and AC unit, shared bathroom and shower. They let us store our luggage a few hours in the morning after check out. Overall loved how close it was to the temples. I would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is located right by Wakakusayama, so quiet, deer sitting in front of hotel, super nice morning walk area! Owner was friendly, gave us good information. You can cook your own food at kitchen, so you can stay long. room was just like own bedroom, very comfortable.
The bathrooms are not in your room, but very clean!
My daughter loved here, so we will go back again!!

The motel is located inside the deer park that is close encounter to the deer. Not suitable for family with young children due to the motel condition. Share toilet and shower room only two and three respectively. The hotel should install hot and cold water dispenser direct from drinking water supply instead of using boiling thermo flash. Run out of water during peak hour and had to wait. Check out time too early.

Super friendly staff and huge room for Japan standards. Very chill vibe as well in the whole place. It reminds me of a huge wood cabin. The showers and bathrooms are shared but it wasn't an issue despite being fully booked. It's a bit far from the metro but right in the center of the park, which is great to see the night lights etc..

So much fun to wake up in the park!

It's clear this hostel is still working on being renovated and improved; in the two nights I was there they were getting deliveries to stock the kitchen with and during the day were working on cleaning and improving the hostel. It was a very nice room, very clean and comfortable, and the staff were lovely. I've already told friends they should stay there!

We booked one night here initially and ended up staying for one extra, partly due to bad weather the morning after the first night, but also due to the friendly atmosphere, good price and excellent location. We arrived around 7pm after walking from the JR station in town (30 mins) to find that unfortunately the local cafes had shut (we should have checked beforehand but didn't) however the staff were happy to place a take-out order for us from one of the menus they had in the communal area. [If you don't speak or read much Japanese and don't already have it-download google translate and the image translate attachment-it was so handy for translating menus!]
The inn was in a great location for early morning deer spotting/feeding and only a short walk from most shrines. There are also buses going from just outside during the daytime which loop from the station up to the inn for only 100¥ (Around 65p/$1) Amenities, though shared, were very clean and pleasant. There was free green tea and coffee in the kitchen area, cooking facilities, and a small 'shop' for pasta, sauces, noodle pots and beers. The sitting and dining area was a nice size with soft jazz playing in the background, and overall the place just had a nice feel to it. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to sight-see in Nara.

This is a lovely inn- a perfect retreat from the city. It has a very serene atmosphere and comfortable minimalist design that makes it easy to appreciate the beautiful nature around you. The staff are incredibly welcoming and provided plenty of advice on the best places to visit, as well as tips on making transit easy. The room was very clean. Not much furniture is provided, but this is a part of the zen-like design of the space and feels refreshing with so much nature around you. The view was beautiful and you can see the deer outside. This is a guesthouse, so amenities are shared, but everything is very well kept. We got a bit lost on the way there-- you will want to take the bus or a taxi as far as you can and make sure to print and bring with you the very detailed instructions that the staff will kindly send you. I wish we could have stayed more than one night- it was beautifully relaxing.

Amazing staff and location!

We loved our stay here! Expect fairly basic but clean rooms with a communal lounge, kitchen and bathrooms in the most stunning location and you won't be disappointed! The staff were delightful. Just be warned it's nearly impossible to get food after 5pm when we were there in autumn as everything closes so make sure you buy in advance. Otherwise it's magical. Deer everywhere, beautiful temples and scenery.

Had enjoyed my stay at Deer Park Inn. What I like most is that it is close to wakakusayama and of course the park itself where you can take a nice walk. The inn itself has all the necessary facility. I would say it is a good value for money.

Very Close to Deer Park

This was my first hostel experience!! A very short taxi ride from Nara station can get you here. Recommend renting a bike from this hotel to get around. The shared restroom area was very clean and it is very quiet at night. I would definitely come back here next time.

Staff is super friendly and speaks excellent English and Japanese (as most hostel staff do... they also tend to be college students). They know the area and are happy to recommend things for you to do. Communal kitchen, bathroom, and showers. Food available for sale in kitchen. Bunk beds if you're a bigger party. Reading lights for each bed, toiletries in basket in room. Really great value.

Location is a little less than ideal if you want to walk to the bigger attractions in the area (Daibutsu, Kofuku-ji), but it's doable. It's closer to Kasuga-taisha, maybe 15 min? But the scenery outside is really pleasant -- you're basically at the foot of Wakakusa-yama, and you'll spot deer as soon as you head outside. There's a little cafe and a little souvenir shop right outside, and then a secluded street of tourist-y type shops... it's a really pleasant stroll. You can also buy inks and brush pens on this street, if you're into calligraphy.

Also, if you have heavy luggage, please beware: the location is right in the middle of a long set of stairs. So you'll either have to drag your luggage down or up.

The Inn is literally located in the deer park, which is where most of the places to go in Nara are, so location-wise it is really perfect. Getting there from the JR-Nara station could be a bit tricky if you're new to Japan, but the staff sends you detailed instructions by email on how to get there so it's not difficult.

The staff there are so kind and helpful; they can give you maps and tourist information on places to go, and you can keep your luggage there before/after check out. The room is clean and cozy, and the atmosphere of the Inn is very cabin-like, which is so fitting since you're in the deer park. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay, and if I visited Nara again I would love to stay there.

Amazing location with really friendly staff

We had an absolutely amazing time staying here. The park is deserted at night and in the early morning, so you have the temples and shrines to yourself (they are not open at these times, but they're still very impressive from the outside). The Nigatsudo shrine was especially great at night, as the lanterns were all lit and it's up a hill, so you can see the city...it's beautiful! Most of the temples to see in Nara are in the park, so you really are right in the middle of it. There are also deer everywhere! Which is fantastic, they are very friendly, especially if you have deer crackers!

The hotel was great, it is more a hostel, but a really lovely one - it's all made out of wood so has a lovely warming, natural feel. The staff were really friendly and helpful with advice. The showers were really powerful and warm, which I was very happy about. Shared toilets and showers, but I never had to queue and all was fine, shampoo, toilet roll, towels etc all provided. The kitchen is nice and has basics you can buy (like water/noodles etc) and you can put music on in the lounge area. Wrap up if you are going in winter, as the communal areas are chilly, but the room was nice and warm.

Would recommend getting bento boxes from the station supermarket and taking them to eat, as we couldn't find a supermarket anywhere near, and the nearest restaurants were a little bit of a walk (not so far though, and park is well lit at night).

Charming Rustic Site in a Great Locale

This place is truly charming. It's a bit rustic (sort of a woodsy, hostel feel to it), but it's quite clean and the staff was simply great. The bathrooms and showers were shared, but they are very clean and the water temperature and pressure are great. Considering the price and the fact that you're literally right inside lovely Nara (Deer) Park, I would highly recommend this place.

Difficult to find, plenty of deer.

The hotel is difficult to find. Especially when it gets dark. From the front it looks like a cafe, but the entrance to the hotel is on the side, facing towards the stairs and not the street. It is located away from the main streets, but I like that it is. We were able to see deer from our bedroom window which was great.

The Deer Park Inn was the best decision I could have made when I decided to travel alone to Nara. Right next to all the major temples (and the deers), it's a quite, clean, nice accommodation. The staff was also really helpful, which made the stay even better. I would definitely come back here.

Best Nara Experience

Nara was by far my favorite city while visiting Japan. The Deer Park Inn is in the middle of everything that Nara has to offer. If you're looking for an inexpensive guesthouse this is the place. The staff is friendly and speak great English. They offer routes to take for all the temples and right at the top of the stairs is a fabulous series of hills to climb to see all of Nara and a few other cities I'm sure. I made this recommendation to everyone I met throughout the rest of my trip!

You're literally in the middle of all the deer and there were even some deer in the morning right outside the window!

Great value option for exploring Nara

This is a very good hostel, recently refurbished and very simple but stylish. The common areas are nice, although they can be a bit cold in winter. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are very basic but comfortable. Location is excellent, right in the deer park, so makes exploring Nara very easy. Shared facilities are never ideal but were not too bad.

I really enjoyed with my stay.

The owner sent me an email with some methods how to go to the Deer Park Inn by bus, taxi or walk. It really helpful. The owner also very helpful and can talk in English very well.

Since i arrived at night, ive choose to take a taxi. The fee only 700 yen and the taxi driver dont know the location but luckly i have the map and show the map to the Deer Park Inn.

Overall, i really satisfied with the condition of the Hotel. On morning i can see the deer through my window and it really give me a different experience.

I met Australian and Taiwanese when arrived at the hotel and we're decided to take a night walk together to Nigatsudo Hall located at hill.
The hotel very near to Kasuga Shrine and i also take a morning walk to Todaiji as well =). Deer is everywhere =)

Clean and homely feel. Very popular inn with international tourist. There's deer outside but definitely not within reach because the rooms are all on 2nd level. The deers are also not as used to feeding as compared to deers in the park.

Not easy to find the place. Better to take cab when u first arrive because there's lack of sign boards and directions.

Room was pretty sparse, just a bed n a chair. Walls were thin, could hear pple talking. We had to be careful not to talk too loud.

Bus service ends quite early and the inn area becomes really quiet and dark by 5pm. Nearest Lawson, 7-11 are quite a far walk from the inn. We walked a lot but it's quite enjoyable.

Get the Most out of your visit to Nara Park!

The Deer Park Inn is probably one of the most interesting hotel properties in Nara. Accommodations are on the basic side, though the room and shared bathroom facilities were spotless and the Japanese cedar wood featured throughout the hotel gave it a homey feel. The service was fantastic--our host provided us with a great suggested itinerary for our day and also gave us some insider tips on great locations to visit at night. You're literally staying inside of Nara Park when you stay at the Deer Park Inn, so it's easy to get a bit more intimate of a view of the park than you would if you stayed closer into town--deer literally come right up to your window. Be forewarned that there are few food options later at night, though food is plentiful during the day (and we were able to find an early breakfast nearby too). I'd highly recommend the Deer Park Inn for travelers who don't need a lot of frills and that really want to get the most out of their visit to Nara Park.

Upon you arrive the hotel, the staff kindly show you the map of Nara and show you the precious places in Nara that you must go. They even help you to think of the route, that is great! The shared bathroom and toilet is very clean, all the necessities are included, e.g. Lotion, shampoo, shaver, toothpaste and etc. However, the room is so empty that just a bed and two chairs. If you want to have a working place, you have to go to the common area. Common area opens from 7am to 11pm.

LOVED IT!

The Deer park inn is in a great location, right at the base of the mountain it is perfect for exploring the surrounding wildlife and temples. The accomodation is brand new, Takeshi has done a wonderful job a creating a stylish and welcoming guesthouse. He greeted us beautifully and gave great advice with maps and all the information we required. The only possible suggestion i could make, is a bed side table in the room would have been handy! Other than that - flawless!! Absolutely loved our stay and would recommend to everyone :)

Great place to stay in Nara. As it's in the Deer park, it's not close to the centre of town but it is close to all the attractions. We hired electric bikes which helped allot getting back up the hill when we went into the town to grab some food.

I went there in March and it was Cold (sometimes snowy). So the wooden-style place was a bit cold (aside from the heated living room). There are heaters in your room which is pretty good. Takeshi was super helpful and friendly! (Hello!). I just love the feel of the place - like a cabin in the mountains - so even though I was shivering to get to the shower, it was my favourtie place out of 8 or so hotels I went to. And the deer are Just outside! Its a bit remote from the restaurants (20 mins walk to the center) - but there are closer restaurants (maybe 10 mins) - and it was one of the few places you could stay at near the temples / deer etc. So it was really special.
I also like how there was a communal kitchen - which is good for people who want to cook, rather than going to an overpriced hotel with no kitchen - so that was good. Probably more for younger people- felt almost like a hostel but you get your own room. Note - theres not much in the rooms aside from 2 beds/chairs and AC / powerpoints - but yknow , I found that better than other hotels in Japan as they would CRAM all this useless furniture just to tick off boxes and so you'd be left with no where to put your luggage. So this was refreshing .
Great price too!
I found it was a unique experience (also going to a Ryokan is too)- I remembered this place yet I forgot most of my other western hotels (they all blurred into one). So if you're a bit more adventurous - just go here - itll be something different!

计程车司机都知道的一家旅馆，民宿式日本原木风格。
如果是从东大寺一路走上来的话，比较费劲。我是在JR奈良站下车，先往西走了1公里吃了顿烤肉（原本想吃牡蛎锅的没预约），再叫了taxi，约2000日元。
酒店房间不大不小，公共单人浴室非常舒服（表扬下日本的淋浴房）。第二天下坡走回JR站，一路喂喂小鹿，拍拍照片，惬意得像是梁朝伟。
奈良公园留宿1晚的话，很推荐这里，有性价比的地方。

のりこ

窓から鹿がくつろいでいる姿を眺められるのがとても良かったです。
部屋も可愛らしく清潔で空調も快適でした。
キッチンとシャワールーム、洗面所、トイレは共用でしたが不自由なく使えました。
鹿が見たくて奈良に来たので最高のステイになりました。違う季節にも絶対また泊まりに来たいと思います。

快適でした。

お部屋の用意が出来たとの事で、チェックインよりも早くお部屋に荷物を置いて出かける事が出来ました。お部屋、シャワールーム共に清潔で快適でした。ありがとうございました。

落ち着いて休めます。音は、聞こえるので、客どうしがお互いに静かに使っている感じ。
エッチではない、オイル等のマッサージがあります。
落ち着いた雰囲気の宿泊施設です。

Silent and terrible night in The hostel

從未住過一間酒店冇電視機、不但房間沒有電視，連大廳都冇電視、從未住過酒店廁所板是凍冰冰的，連公廁洗手間廁所板都是暖笠笠，洗手盆熱水位貼了一張out of order即係沒有熱水，酒店位置已10分偏僻，五點後天已黑晒所有店舖已關門寂靜得人驚進入了一間寂靜無聲的酒店有的只是進入房內地板凹凸不平只發出唧唧的聲音，然後就感覺到耳鳴很不舒服的感覺，第一天晚上便很想離開，但是沒法走因為外面全是黑鼆鼆，很難受的兩天晚上，唯獨是最好就是有個大廚房，但可惜廚房地面凹陷，我已踩中幾次地雷，差點跌倒，這次旅程感受太差

Wunderbar, ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Hotel Mitarbeiter sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

In der Küche gibt es kostenlos Tee und Kaffee, Instant-Suppen gegen einen kleinen Obulus.

奈良公園の真ん前です

リーズナブルな料金で良かったです。
ロケーションは奈良公園の前で最高の場所でした。
鹿が当たり前にホテルの前にいました。
建物が古い様で部屋のドア開閉の際に風圧で窓ガラスが響いてしまうのが気になりました。

とても雰囲気のあるおしゃれな建物で、朝は窓の外に鹿が来て草を食んでいました。春日大社がすぐ横なのでまだ人の少ない朝に参拝できて良かったです。

良く眠れるホテルです。

とても良いロケーション。
近鉄奈良駅から徒歩30分で別世界が広がっています。
まるで自宅から遠く旅をしてきたような静かな山の中で過ごす時間は、良い意味で非日常的。
TVが無いのも好ましい。
古い古い建物ですが、ベッドは清潔で、不快感はありません。
天井や壁の一部は完璧な状態では
ありませんが、虫食いの葉が描かれた日本画のような印象を受けます。
仕事のメールや電話がかかってこなければ、のんびりくつろぐ事ができるでしょう。
よく眠れるホテルです。

共有キッチンがあります。
近所で食材が入手出来ませんが、車で来る人なら問題ないでしょう。

Personne de l accueil très sympathique et serviable qui parle bien anglais. Hébergement type auberge de jeunesse propre et chambre agréable. Très satisfaits. Le matin on voit les biches sous la fenêtre (même sous la pluie). Très bien situé pour les visites

何回かお世話になってますが、今回はお水取りを見たくてお世話になりました。お水取りについても詳しく教えて頂けて助かりました! 有難うございます。
お洗濯は乾燥機もありますし、車も停めれたので助かりました。何より春日大社も近く、二月堂も近いし鹿さんだらけで楽しかったです。またお伺いします! 有難うございました。

窓の下に鹿がやってきます。

いつも快適に眠れる宿なのですが、今回泊まった部屋は、一番端にあったせいか室外機？の音が、ずっとしていて頭痛で目覚めてしまいました。
広いので、この部屋にしてくれたのかもしれませんし、古い建物なので仕方ないと思います。室外機の音以外は満足な滞在でした。

너무나 완벽했던 숙소

아주 친절한 직원들. 직원들은 모두 영어가 가능해요.
숙소는 따뜻하고, 침구류도 깔끔하고 좋습니다.
창문으로, 사슴들도 보여요! 힐링 그 자체의 숙소.
따뜻한 물도 아주 잘 나와 샤워를 온전히 즐길 수 있었습니다.

古い建物を改造しているが、部屋は清潔感があり、共用のバス・トイレもきれいにしてあって、気持ちよかったです。共用キッチンに大きな冷蔵庫があり、ビールをしっかり買い置き出来て、よかったです。

奈良公園の一部になれます。

若草山の麓、日の暮れや早朝の奈良公園を感じる事ができる旅の原点に帰れる宿です。部屋は清潔かつシンプル。鹿の鳴き声と虫の声、窓の外には鹿。まわりには何もないので駅前で買い物がベストですが宿にもカップラーメンや宅配ピザあり。ドアを開ける時に窓がガタ着いたら少し漏れる声はパリのアパルトマンを思い出し、それもまた風情かなと。行く時は場所がわからにくかったけど着いてみれば春日大社からすぐ近くで早朝の空気はオーラさえ感じました。スタッフの方からの事前のメールでマップを送ってもらっても到着には苦労しましたが何でもすぐに回答してくれてとても親切です。シンプルな旅を楽しむ方にオススメです。

Nel parco di Nara

L’hotel è immerso nel parco, la stanza è spaziosa e i bagni in comune molto puliti. La ragazza alla reception è gentilissima!
Vi manderanno una mail prima del vostro soggiorno con una serie di informazioni che a me avevano messo un po’ in allarme (location isolata, pericoloso arrivare la sera, non c’e niente intorno...) ignoratela allegramente e godetevi il soggiorno, l’unica cosa vera è che ci vogliono 45minuti a piedi dalla stazione JR e se avete valigie non è facilissimo, in tale caso consiglio l’autobus!
