A traditional Roman hotel with nice, clean rooms and Sky TV (Italian with some English channels). Breakfast was basic, but ok with a selection of breads, pastries and fruit/yoghurt.
The hotel was ideally situated for the Vatican City, St Peter’s and other Rome attractions with easy walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Would definitely use the hotel again if in Rome.

Per il prezzo non rispecchia proprio quello che si vuole trovare. Stanza pulita a prima vista ma sotto il letto quantità di polvere che se si è allergici si passa una brutta serata. Posizione molto centrale quindi positivo almeno nella mia stanza non vi erano finestre con luce naturale quindi non il massimo. Personale gentile anche se il receptionist ha fatto alcune battute non richieste ma nulla di grave. Nel complesso per quella cifra si trova di meglio.

Hotel locates at very safe and quiet Vatican area. It took 10 minute to walk to the Vatican Museums. Front desk people are very nice and helpful. SIT airport shuttle bus stops are only walking 5-6 minutes from the hotel.

Room was tight but acceptable. I needed to work on my computer which I needed to relocate to the eating area after breakfast was served as my suite table was really not a functional table to do business off.

Overall, I had a great stay at this hotel. The location is excellent—many attractions, restaurants, and grocery stores are within walking distance. I also really liked that it’s slightly away from old Rome, giving it a more authentic neighborhood feel compared to the busier, tourist-heavy areas. The room was comfortable and a good size for the price, and the breakfast offered a nice variety with options like bread, cheese, eggs, yogurt, and coffee. The hosts were very welcoming and made the stay pleasant.

The only downsides were that the room facing the street could get a bit noisy at night (not really the hotel’s fault), and there are quite a few stairs to climb—though there is a small lift available.

Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Rome!

When We booked the hotel the price was $441.00 when I got my billing statement it was raised to $789.00. There is no way I would have paid that for this hotel. We could barely walk in the very small room. The bathroom was so small that you couldn't take a shower and dry yourself off in there, you had to go into the main room. The toilet was dirty, the floors sticky. We had a non smoking room but the whole hotel reeked of cigarette smoke. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

Amazing rooftop view. Metro pass is a must. 1/2 hour walk to Vatican (easy). Somewhat limited dining options in the area. Don't stay here if you're looking for the clubs. I enjoyed my nightlife on the roof.

Great hotel. Over all excellent. Would have been five stars on condition but the gym was out of order owing to some water damage caused by previous guests. I wish I could give 3.75 stars out of 5 on condition because it was an issue for me but I didn’t think it was worth docking 2 full stars. The hotel is great and I have no doubt that I would have given a full 5 stars on condition had the gym been available. Condition was top notch otherwise. Would stay again

Properties located in a prime location. A lot of nice stores around. Close to all attractions. But going into the hotel reception is located on the fourth floor elevator you have to take a few steps up and the elevator only holds up to 2 people and barely has room for suitcases so if you’re travelling with large suitcases you will not fit. But otherwise staff is great and the service was great.

The room we had was small but was clean. We got a basic room so nothing fancy. I liked the area and was very walkable to many things close by and was accessible to many places to eat and markets and pharmacies. The staff were nice and had a roof top which was relaxing. We moved from this hotel to napoleon hotel from our original plans but knowing what we know now we would have stayed there longer compared to the napoleon hotel which was the direct opposite of this hotel. If I were to give a piece of advice stay in Vatican City and be very cautious of where in Rome you go. At napoleon there was much around to do and was dirty but at hotel papi was clean and safe and had many things within 15 minutes of walking or less.

We stayed one night had leave hotel early in the morning. Beds were very uncomfortable and not only could we not watch TV because the person who stayed in room before us the tv had his act on even the guy working at hotel could not fix then I tried to turn TV off and the TV would not turn off we were tired had a 10 hour flight the next morning and had to leave at 6am I called front desk someone came up to help and they also could not get the TV to turn off so we had to sleep with the bright TV screen on and couldent even watch anything the only other solution was to take the key card out which gives the room power and then we would have no AC and room was very hot so unfortunately, we had to leave the TV screen on all night. There was also hair in the bathroom sink.

The positive the gentleman that checked us in was very friendly and helpful they booked transportation for us and gave us a great restaurant recommendation he was very helpful and nice and hotel is in a good location close to Vatican other then that the rest of the stay was disappointing.

Good for a short stay. Good location to major sites. The hotel staff was very friendly. Solo room was very small and unfortunately they put me right next to the reception desk and breakfast so it was extremely loud in the morning and hard to sleep. Good value for the money considering how expensive Rome is and again for 2-3 days worth it, but I wouldn’t stay longer than that. Little tiny gym was nice for a quick basic workout before sightseeing.

This is our fourth visit to Rome and have stayed here every time. Really convenient to walk to most locations, or Metro a few blocks away. Enjoy the rooftop patio as a relax and wind down area each nite.

We booked a renovated room, but when we got to the hotel they \"upgraded\" us. It was not an upgrade. The room was old. The beds were old and the blanket was old and small. It was dirty. We asked for the room we booked, but refused any help. Maybe its a language barrier, but the person at the desk was rude.
The only positive thing I can say is that the area is good. Walking distance to everything.

The room was clean, the hotel is located on a quiet street and only a block from the main street, the hotel offers free breakfast but there is no coffee machine or drinks in the room and the wifi signal is weak if your room is on the edge of the hotel.

I don't like is that the reception is on the 4th floor. We have to carry our luggages up the stair, because the lift is small. We have to carry our luggages down again after we check in also when we having a shower and the water is leaking to the bedroom.

The best part about this place was the location and the price but that is when things take a turn for the worse.

The shower was right beside the bed in the very small bedroom …hope you’re comfortable sharing soaping yourself up in front of an audience.

Opening up the window, it was a wall with a picture glued to it. There was no sunlight and felt a little claustrophobic.

Hard to give this a recommendation for anyone unless it is a great price.

The location is nice and it's pretty quiet at night. Lots of restaurants around. The best place is the ice cream shop down the block. You can walk everywhere and there's lots of transportation options bearby. The only thing I didn't like about this hotel is that the gym is super small and the rooms don't have any views.

You get very much what you pay for. Staff are friendly enough, but towels are small, you can't leave your AC on in room when you are gone so the room is infernally hot when you get back, roof top bar is nice enough but they definitely overhype it in the pictures.
I would personally cough up some money next time to stay at a nicer hotel, but if you are on a budget and are just needing a place to shower and sleep, this is definitely a solid option.

A lovely hotel with excellent friendly helpful staff. The hotel decor is extremely nice but our twin bedded room was very small and basic. No tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms, a large TV with no english speaking channels and the only mirror is in the bathroom. The hotel has a lovely roof terrace with a bar to sit on and serves an excellent breakfast. The hotel is in an really good area with a great selection of restaurants and supermarkets on the door step. Also very easy to get around the City with the Metro nearby.

Drains in the shower and washbasin were clogged, the staff didn’t put soap in the bathroom in three days, breakfast was not good, elevator was out of service and with many stairs to climb and heavy luggage to carry it sometimes can be challenging

This was my families third time choosing to stay at Hotel Relais dei Papi. It is a nice place, friendly staff, great rooftop to relax on at the end of your day exploring. We will be returning again in 2024 and considered trying somewhere else just for variety but decided to just stick with where we know we will be treated right.

The description and pictures are not depicting the reality. In reality, everything is smaller than expected. The breakfast is ok but not exceptional. There is no bar and the music is too loud on the roof terrace. The receptionist feels very fast overwhelmed. This is not adapted to families with young kids.

Nice Hotel, but needs some improvements

Front desk is very helpful. Convenient location near great restaurants. About a 15 minute walk to the Vatican. 7 minute walk to the train. Roof top is very nice.

Negatives: Bed is very firm. Hot tub needed some repairing. It works well, but a stopper at the bottom came out, plus there's a leak from one of the faucets. We paid for the deluxe room to get the hot tub, but I would likely not do this again for the price. The shower also had poor water pressure.

This hotel is in a fabulous location - very close to the Vatican City, easy to get across to the tourist locations however far enough out that it is peaceful and has some good value, good food restaurants. The hotel doesn’t have a bar but has a make shift vending machine to buy reasonably priced drinks to take onto the phenomenal roof terrace. Rooms are very funky and large and the breakfast is good. Would stay again - could not be faulted for the value.
