This hotel is the best! Location on the Bay of Naples, beautiful setting and beautiful property! Awesome breakfast, great staff and great restaurant! Walking distance to everything that you want, scenery, dining, shopping and more. There is also parking with this hotel.

This was one of our favorite hotels we stayed in. The grounds were gorgeous and we were finally able to relax for a little while outside while enjoying the beautiful scenery. The beauty of this place is unparalleled. The breakfast is in a beautiful room too. There’s several other places to relax inside the hotel and I would definitely recommend this hotel. We booked a driver the day before to take us all the way down the Amalfi coast stopping at a few places. The scenery was gorgeous and the driver was great! Well worth it and so glad we did that.

An Outstanding Stay in Sorrento
I cannot more enthusiastically recommend Gran Hotel Royal. We had bay view rooms which were amazing, especially at night with the balconies. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and service impeccable. My son sprained his ankle prior to our stay and they had crutches available as well as further recommendations for medical care. If we are ever back in Sorrento we would stay at the Grand Hotel Royal without hesitation.

The property is beautiful and the staff are welcoming. The views are to die for from your room. The breakfast is really nice and the pool is beautiful. The jacuzzi which is part of the pool was a nice addition but could have been warmer. The rooms are a generous size and gorgeous. You have a turn down service at night and left a chocolate which was touching. I throughly recommend staying here, it was first class in every aspect.

The property is nice and has an amazing view. However for a 5 star expensive hotel, they really need to consider doing the following:
1. Consider a welcome drink at the time of check in
2. Consider hydration and coffee station on the main hotel entrance level
3. The rooms are nice but the hallway floor is not padded so at night you hear every step of a flip flop outside the room door
4. The swimming pool closes at 6 pm. That is way too early. Consider extending pool time to 8 pm.
5. You cannot eat at pool side. If you want to eat or have dessert, you have to leave your poolside lounge and go sit in their pool restaurant. Consider changing that policy. It is nice to eat at the pool side.
6. Not all the waiters are well trained. I asked one of the terrace waiters to get me french fries. His reply was that I cannot get French fries unless I order a cheese burger. I had to call for head waiter to solve this issue. Finally, I ended up getting my side of fries only, without having to order the burger.
7. The gym is very small with mediocre equipments. There is no view to the outside. It is located at basement level.
8. They need to upgrade the coffee provided in the rooms. The quality is poor.
9. The food quality was average. We actually went to their sister hotel ambasciotori and had dinner there one night and food quality was way better.
10. There are weddings almost every day. The night before we left they had a wedding/party with loud music past midnight.

Beautiful property, and the terrace was the best view in Sorrento. The nightly sunset views were breathtaking. The onsite restaurant offers delicious and elegant meals, one of our favorite dishes was the tagliolini with pawns and brown butter sauce.The hotel staff were nice and attentive. Our room was perfect with a lovely balcony where we could wind down in the evening after a day of adventures. Conveniently located, 5 minute walk, to center of town for shopping and dining.

Grand Hotel Royal exceeded our expectations. Even before we arrived, the level of customer care and was exceptional. They gave us a gift and handwritten note for our anniversary which was a thoughtful touch. We had a problem with our toilet that was not able to be repaired so they swiftly moved us to a different room. They arranged round trip Naples train station transportation and when the ferry to Positano was unexpectedly cancelled, they saved the day and arranged a driver to take us.The hotel is walking distance to everything- shopping, ferry, sights and dining. Boats to all other towns on the Amalfi coast. Capri, Positano, Amalfi&Atrani, very accessible from Sorrento. You will need a good 7-9 days there to see things. The best seafood we have ever had and reasonable too. This property is walking distance to all the great restaurants and shops.

Overall very nice place to stay. A little inconsistent in replacing items during housekeeping and charging 7 euro just for water with dinner is a little outrageous. The front desk could be a little better at answering basic questions about Sorrento (for a 5 star hotel - they were fine, but when you're paying $1,500+/night to stay there you expect a little more). An example was getting a straight answer about how the ferries work and the best way to pay for them. The room, property and beach club were all great. We enjoyed snorkeling off their dock.
