Room smelt of cigarettes

On arriving it looked lovely.
We went in our room, at first we couldnt smell anything bad as the cleaners had sprayed to camouflage the smell of smoke.
The next day we woke up ,the room smelt disgusting of cigarettes.
We asked to be moved. Unfortunately the new room did not have a balcony. We asked reception for compensation as we had lost half a day messing around and moving rooms.
The manager was not helpful. He was very rude , more or less, telling us to go.
Wouldn't go there again.
I wouldn't recommend you stay here.
Pool dated and dirty around the edges.
Food was awful.

A lovely traditional hotel

We enjoyed our stay here very much.
Hotel is within walking distance to the main city square.

Spectacular! The property is beautiful! The staff is second to none! The all around service was top notch. I presented for an event on site and the service and staff was simply awesome!
A quick visit to the bar area, ended up in an incredible display of service that was above and beyond anyone’s expectations. I recommend this property to anyone!! The price was unbelievably underpriced. Definitely a 5 star property.

Have stayed in a few hotels since Covid but never one which has no bar, food, tea or coffee facilities, not even a water in the minibar. Bedroom view looked straight into room opposite. One girl on reception (who was very nice) but meant there was unnecessary queues. Disappointing for a 5 star.

The staff was very helpful, friendly and professional. The hotel is beautiful and in a great location and close to everything. The meals were all delicious.
Our beds were very hard and very uncomfortable and we talked to the front desk staff and they offered us a choice of a couple of rooms so we moved to one of them and the beds were much better and comfortable.
We will definitely return and recommend Alameda Palace Hotel to our friends and family.

great hotel for groups and families

This is a very nice hotel. We had 2 rooms reserved which turned out to be huge and well -appointed. The staff was unfailingly polite and helpful.

Hotel has parking for a reasonable price and will park and retrieve the car for you if you are not up to braving the very very toght turns. I recommend you let them do it if you aren’t used to it.

Hotel also has breakfast buffet that’s a good value for kids under 7.

Finally - late night drink on the roof terrace was very nice.

The property is well maintained. Pictures do no justice to the hotel. Is actually a very “royal” styled hotel (you won’t find modern furniture) so that’s how I felt, royal. I’m very pleased with this hotel and the staff. Would def recommend.

*location. 10 mins walk from the Renfe station, less than 5 mins walk to the old town Salamanca. Excellent location!!

This is a good hotel but we did not feel that it compared with other 5-star hotels in terms of the room facilities. There were no tea/coffee-making facilities, for example. Although the decor throughout the hotel and in the rooms was nice it did look a bit dated in some aspects. The location of the hotel was convenient for walking to the many attractions in the centre of Salamanca.

Beautiful classic and classy interior decoration and furniture with nice spaces and yet well priced.
Very conveniently located bordering the old centre of the very well maintained university city of Salamanca. Overlooking the Alamedilla park and in walking distance to the train station. It has got all the necessary elements to make up for a pleasant stay to the visit-worthy traditional city of Salamanca.

You get what you pay for..

This hotel was recommended by a local salmantino friend. Let’s settle, is cheap, we get a room for $58 euros plus $15 euros for parking. But you got what you pay for.

We got a twin room, the beds are as hard as you can get, but we stay for a night so be it. The A/C in the room has no temp control and at 2am we need to call reception to complain about it and they adjusted the temp remotely. So if you want a colder room you have to tell them in advance.

We didn’t try the breakfast but there are plenty of options around.

Staff were OK, responsive but not attentive. Just doing their job.

In summary if you want a value hotel and willing to go with a mediocre room and less than average comfort; go ahead this is the place. Otherwise look elsewhere.

Whilst overall it was a pleasant stay, it did become extremely frustrating having had to move rooms four (4) times. Firstly on arrival I was given a Twin Room when I had booked a Double. Second room's air con was broken so got no sleep for two (2) days as it was so hot. When finally moved third time, again was given a Twin instead of Double. Fourth time lucky. Staff were very apologetic and did try and assist as quickly as possible. Room size was very good and very large, spacious bathroom.

Expected more. Check-in okay. Good access to old city, but room was small and stuffy. Desk staff less than friendly and made minimal effort to remedy an A/C problem that plagued numerous people in our party. They managed room temp centrally and their solution to our discomfort was to open the window. Lobby bar unattended at 6 PM. No coffee service other than at undistinguished breakfast service which started late for our 9 AM meeting time. There must be something better here.

A lovely hotel, beautifully maintained.
Not so central as some (a fifteen minute walk to the Plaza Mayor), but an agreeable location opposite a park.
Lots of character, with polished floors, antique furniture and paintings in gilded frames.
The personnel, particularly in the restaurant, are uniformly excellent.
The restaurant is good but slightly limited in scope.

Quite a luxurious hotel in a good position

Hotel staff were welcoming and very helpful with all our requests. The in-house restaurant had excellent food and service and in the morning the breakfast presented a wide variety of options. Later checkout was also good, because it gave us a chance to have another walk through the old city before departing.

Lovely old hotel but needs a face lift and bought into the 21 century. Staff were great and very helpful Room was mixed. Bathroom was great but bed was out of a convent or military base. Took great strength to get the sheet off to get into the bed and the blankets provided were very 80s. Bfast average. Dinner the same. Would not eat there again.

Quaint hotel locked in the past

The entrance augured well- highly polished floors and sparkling mirrors and old paintings in gilt settings everywhere.
I checked on beds and we got the only bed for a couple available - a double. Apparently other couples sleep in singles. No queen or king size beds in a “ five star” hotel.
We arrived in our traditional rooms with voluminous traditional curtains and matching bedspreads ( mine with a dirty brown mark- not a great start) to see that there were no quilts, just a blanket in the cupboard.
We had no control over room temperature- that must be done via the front desk.
The TV only offered France 24 in Enlglish as a general news channel- no CNN or BBC- who wants to watch Bloomberg on a vacation.
The bathroom sparkled in marble but there were no general boxes of tissues just a small accessory box- why would a five star place economise like that?
The shower was complex to manage.
Breakfast was very average - no muesli.
Coffee from a machine was not what we’d expect of a five star hotel- no real cappuccino here yet many fantastic ones were available for a couple of euros around the corner with a better quality breakfast.
Dinner was reasonable.
The staff were wonderful, especially one tiny older woman whose infectious smile really made a difference.

The hotel heater not work, there didn’t have comforter only thin sheet, and 1 blanket in the cubboard, no water boiler, no dust bin in the room most important I brought glutinous ball from Singapore all the way frozen to eat on the festival 22/12 then ask The frondesk to keep in the fridge since the fridge in the room has no frozen facility, and when I checkout we found out it was left in the reception without putting in the fridge and it was spoiled, even the price is cheap but we miss the tradition, then I ask the receptionist to throw it, then I found out my car was knocked by other quest car, which left black mark and dent on my front left bumper, I will suffer a lot lost in the insurance excess which could reach 1000 euro

Top-rate hotel near historic center.

The Hotel Alameda Palace is located just outside the historic district in Salamanca, making it convenient for road access and parking, as well as a good starting out point for exploring the historic section of town. I had four guests with me, all in their own rooms, and all of them were quite happy with the hotel.

Beautiful reception area which included the bar and the lounge. Had the wow factor when entering the foyer. Exceptionally clean and well kept. Checking in was dealt with well and the car was taken from us and taken to the garage beneath the hotel. The room was large and well appointed, plenty of wardrobe space with safe. Bathroom also large with all toiletries. Hotel was near the shops and a 15 minute walk to the plaza mayor. Would definitely return to this hotel if in the area.

Gorgeous older hotel. Staff was wonderful. AC was so so. You have to ask staff to make it cooler as controls don't seem to work from the room. Everything is at walking distance shopping restaurants and the famous Plaza Mayoris a 7 minute walk from the hotel.

The hotel is in a great location within 10-15 minutes to historical attractions and old town. We didnt have breakfast at hotel so I can't comment on that. The staff were very pleasant. The bed was a little hard but not too bad. The air-con in the room was hard to regulate but not a problem as the weather wasn't too hot during our stay. Parking garage below hotel was extremely tight to get into. We enjoyed hotel very much aside from little issues.

Great hotel in a good location - easy to walk to the train station and the main tourist areas. Very reasonably priced for the quality although all extras such as breakfast are expensive so we didn't bother with them. Hotel staff were very friendly and the room was always clean and everything you could need (except no tea or coffee!). Would stay there again and would recommend.

Great location for sightseeing within walking distance. Elegant hotel with very large rooms and great amenities. While staff was friendly when approached, they did not go overboard to provide the type of service expected of a 5 star hotel. We were not allowed to leave car in the parking garage for just 3 additional hours after checking out to allow us to view the Palm Sunday procession around the plaza to the cathedral before departing the city. We paid 15 Euro for our overnight stay and hadn't checked in until 8pm the previous evening,our car was in their garage for less than 17 hrs, but we had to move it and search for a spot on the street to park. Service not expected for a hotel, especially one of 5 star caliber.

Great experience...

We enjoyed our recent stay - while the location is about a 25 minute walk to the main sights, it is also right next to a park where the locals come out every night to enjoy tapas and drinks.

My husband and I met friendly people and enjoyed the food - that experience alone made it worth the slightly out of the way location

Alameda Palace a nice hotel but 5 stars?

Stayed here for 3 nights over Easter. Very nice lobby and friendly staff and the room was very comfortable for the price, if a little warm. Easy 10 min walk to the Plaza Mayor and also some great tapas bars the other way to Calle van Dke. All in all we had a great stay here and for the price I'd say it was very good value.

Only thing I'd add is that to say this is a 5 star hotel with the minimal facilities available is stretching the ratings a little. No gym, sauna, pool that we could find. But if you want a good priced, reasonably central hotel with some friendly staff then this is the place for you.
