Gorgeous, historic hotel, room was spacious with very high ceilings. Breakfast was delicious too. It was a little loud outside at night but obviously nothing the hotel can do about that and it wasn't really a problem for me. Great location, kind and helpful staff. I'd happily stay here again, for the price I paid it was very worth it.

Hotel is lovely and staff were very helpful. It is in a fantastic location in the heart of the city. However, room is not soundproofed, we could hear people going to the toilet in the room upstairs and a dog barking across the street for hours during the night. Breakfast was just OK.

This is Not a 4star hotel!!!!!! No Bathroom amenities but a liquid soap to do all!! And the one in the shower didn’t even work! No boxes of tissues! Just Horrible, no bell service, had no Water for 4 hours!, Breakfast was subpar, would not recommend anyone to stay here!!! Staff also was no Friendly or helpful, no staff after 11pm

We had a wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel Bastiani in Grosseto. The hotel is beautifully maintained and perfectly located in the historic center, making it ideal for exploring the city on foot. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming, professional, and always ready to help with recommendations or any needs we had.

The hotel overall is beautiful. It's in a 1910 historical building in Renaissance revival style, with many of the original finishes. Some of the technology are outdated, but it was part of the charm. Everything was great, but I would recommend investing in the larger rooms.

Pleasant, if dated, well located hotel.

Reception was friendly and very welcoming. We were upgraded (free) from a budget room to a standard one which was a nice touch and very much appreciated.
The hotel decor is dated, but it’s clean and it’s location is central - very close to the Duomo. The room had air conditioning and there was a tiny terrace on the 4th floor with 2 plastic tables & chairs, disappointingly this had no view and seemed to be used only by smokers. It seems a shame that they haven’t inserted a window or two from which to admire the view and opened a small cafe/bar up there!

I stay at the Grand Bastiani Hotel every time I visit Grosseto. The hotel is centrally located whithin the city's medieval wall. It is steps to bars and restaurants and very close to the historic church. The train station is also nearby. The staff is friendly and welcoming.

Great location in the centre of the square but our room was right above garbage cans which they picked up very early and was VERY loud. Did not have a good sleep. But if we had a different room I'm sure it would have been much better. Also not good wifi but all in all, clean, nice staff, play stay.

Lovely hotel, very clean, friendly staff. Like stepping back to a time gone by. Hotel could be from an Agatha Christie 'film set' in a lovely way. We would love to return. The town and the hotel are recommended to all but hope only a few read this so both remain unspoilt

Charming little hotel in Grosseto

I've stayed in many Tuscan hotels and this one definitely ranks highly. Value for money was excellent and the room was fairly large, especially for the price.
Breakfast was adequate and all staff were very friendly. The hotel's location is perfect, just within the old city walls. It is very close to the main piazza and within walking distance from all old town attractions and restaurants/bars.

Nicely situated within walking distance of train and bus stations, close to bars, restaurants and shops. Can be quite noisy in the evening though. Nice large bathroom + bath! Good air-conditioning and a comfy bed. Electrical plugs were pretty useless though and the wi-fi was shoddy too.

Wonderful hotel in Grosseto

We really enjoyed our stay in Grosseto at the Hotel Bastiani. It's in the heart of the old center, a block from the Duomo. We walked from the train/bus station - an easy 10-15 minute walk, and went on a day-trip to the beach at Follonica, using the train, also. The hotel rooms are large, and the bathroom was nicely furnished with a large bathtub/shower combo. The breakfast area was also very nice with a large assortment of items, and excellent cappacino. Each person at the front desk was very personable.

We planned to use the bikes available but ended up walking everywhere, instead. While we were there, the old center had a wonderful night event with lots of music options, arts, and museums were open.

We know that Grosseto is not the typical location American tourists go in Italy, but we really enjoyed our time there and recommend it.

Good hotel, but did not get the room I paid for

I paid for the upgraded room because of another review that said the room was dark and they awoke to the garbage truck in the alley early in the morning. Well, that is exactly what happened to us and after looking at the pictures of the upgraded room room we did not get one.

Nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff although quiet but I assume that was about time of year as I would imagine that at height of summer it would be very busy. Location was great and everything was easily walk-able with a fair selection of bars and eating places although again these were fairly quiet. Hotel had bicycles available and reception helped by providing directions to a cycle way that ran all the way to the coast/beach, excellent way to work off a nice lunch.

We booked this hotel as a starting place for our getaway (just far enough up the coast from Rome Airport) and found the location to be quite enjoyable (once we figured how to get our rental car parked near the hotel!). Staff were friendly, room efficient and overall a great start to our first time in Italy.

We experienced very friendly, helpful and competent staff. All the reception staff spoke excellent English. Rooms were also very good, both comfortable and clean. Breakfast was excellent - lots of choice and also featured some local produce. The location is great, a very short walk to the town centre. The only criticism would be the fact you have to pay for wireless internet.

We were there for only one night. The breakfast was just good. The room was small but clean. The linens were quite nice. The furniture is dated but serviceable. It is a good place to stay inside of the old walled city.

The hotel has a great location in the heart of Grossetto. Our only complaints were that the air conditioning did not work and the windows in the top floor rooms were narrow and just below the ceiling so there was no view (but plenty of pigeons).

Το κατάλυμα βρίσκεται στο κέντρο της παλιάς πόλης. Ευτυχώς ή δυστυχώς μάλλον είναι η μόνη επιλογή σε ξενοδοχείο μέσα στην παλιά πόλη. Το προσωπικό ήταν εξυπηρετικό και φιλικό. Το δωμάτιο ήταν μεγάλο, όχι ιδιαίτερα καθαρό. Το ξενοδοχείο γενικά είναι παλιό και θέλει ανακαίνιση. Το πρωινό ήταν συμπαθές. Η στάθμευση είναι εκτός των τειχών της πόλης, αλλά δίπλα από το ξενοδοχείο. Γενικά αν μπορεί κάποιος να το αποφύγει ας διαλέξει κάτι άλλο.
