Property is inviting and well kept. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bathroom had a walk through patio door to the outside but no screen.i would have loved to leave it open but the mosquitoes, mainly, were bad. It is the jungle, but I prefer to shower off the bug spray at night. The restaurant was convenient and watching the agoutis, iguanas and deer roam around was fabulous. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again.

We arrived right as it got dark. Check in went quick. We stayed here one night to avoid too much driving in one day. We stayed in a little cabin back in the woods. The sliding doors in the room didn’t completely close and it felt like we had a lot of bugs visiting us. Many ants on the floor, woke up to a scorpion in the sink. That said, we are in Costa Rica and some of that is to be expected and we are okay with that. I think next time we need to stay in Liberia and a place with more people around. I was nervous the whole night and didn’t sleep well. The main door did lock. It was the sliding door that made me nervous.
I did get a fruit plate and gallo pinto and both were delicious:)
we arrived at 6pm and checked out by 8am so we didn’t spend much time looking around. Breakfast was $9 each, so reasonable, but I misunderstood and thought it was a buffet and it wasn’t so that was my fault. Overall, although the staff was nice, we most likely won’t be back.

This place is a hidden gym. Beautiful property, nice and quiet, nice room rooms. Right next to the river for Whitewater rafting pick up and next to the animal rescue. The animal rescue is an awesome place also with pumas, Jaguars, macaws and much more, all for a good cause rehabilitating animals.

We stayed at 4 hotels while in Costa Rica, this was by far one of our most special experiences. The food was amazing, the property was gorgeous. There were monkeys all over and incredible insects. The rooms were beautiful!!

Friendly staff! The hotel has a restaurant and deer on the grounds. The room had a nice veranda with two rocking chairs. They happily supplied us with extra towels as well as pool towels. Hair dryer in the bathroom and good size room for a basic hotel. We could have used some extra pillows. We would come again!

Hacienda is a great spot. Beautiful grounds, great restaurant, and great service. It’s showing its age a bit and could use a little updating and some maintenance. Our room was very nice and comfortable but the AC did not cool the room well. It did not detract from the overall stay though.

A nice room with a nice patio overlooking the lovely and large garden. Breakfast was nice and they didn't mind that we arrived late. We enjoyed going just next door to the puma rescue center to see many indigenous animals. This place was great for a night after arriving LIR airport before we kept going on our Costa Rica vacation.

This property is surrounded by animals. It has tons of potential. But the dirt roads had potholes, there are no pathways to walk around the property, and everything is dimly lit at best. The staff was not very helpful. Breakfast is not included. However, dinner at the restaurant was amazing!

This resort was the closest place to stay to access the rivers near Cañas for fishing and floating. It was comfortable with delicious Costa Rican food. It had a nice pool and conference facilities. The website offered lots of on-site activities like biking and hiking though none were actually availabe.

Short stop after Nicaragua

Short stay before flying back to Canada after travelling Nicaragua.
Hotel clearly had seen better times, however, the owners working hard to restore all facilities. Ideal for 1 to max 2 nights if you had a vehicle. Grounds nice and tidy, plenty of animals, nice pool and the variety of dishes on the menu offered variety, even though a little expensive.

What a lovely surprise. Wanted a stop between Liberia and La Fortuna so we wouldn’t have to drive too far in the dark after our flight. This little gem was perfect! Adorable rooms, peaceful, lots of wildlife, lovely restaurant, wonderful breakfast, excellent service, pool. Honestly was perfect for one night. Especially loved all the wildlife! Not much to do after that so I wouldn’t stay longer. But, I would definitely stay again if travelling in or out of Liberia.

This hotel is easy to find on Route 1. Its extensive grounds have lots of wildlife and are well-maintained. The pool is big enough for swimming laps. We opted for the least expensive room and the bathroom was outdated but still functional. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

The property is huge, with the rain you must drive to get around. It's a colonial style construction that definitely could be updated. Old sinks, toilets, beds uncomfortable. Only 1 pillow per bed, we had 2 towels for a family of 4.
Cable TV was horrible, no list of channels even. No phone from the room, if you need something you must drive all the way to the front desk. Food pricey for what it is.
Beautiful property and needs more TLC.

We found a live scorpion in the room. We left and Expedia and the property would not refund our money. Shame on you! I can not put my child through this! What a joke! Very unsafe! Have the scorpion an video and they are refusing to give are money back even though we never stayed.

A little gem

Stayed here as a convenient stop on route, but it exceeded our expectations. Although just off the main highway, Hacienda La Pacifica has a lovely setting. Its so quiet and tranquil, with our superior room more like a rustic cabin set amongst the trees. It was a good size and very clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom and large shower area offering plenty of hot water. There was a private terrace at the back with rocking chairs where we sat and watched an abundance of wildlife. There is an inviting, well maintained pool too. The restaurant is lovely, with both inside and outside seating. We enjoyed the included breakfast and had dinner here too, which was also very good with ample choice. Having the white tailed deer visit as we ate was an added highlight. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating. We're glad we found this place. Just a short walk away is Las Pumas animal rescue centre, which is well worth a visit. They do such good work and we learned a lot from one of the rehabilitation staff who enthusiastically guided us around the facility.

The property was wonderful. We stopped for one night while traveling from Monteverde to Papagayo. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The on-property restaurant was very good for dinner and the complimentary breakfast was delicious! We visited the animal rescue, which is walkable from the property and enjoyed seeing native animals and birds who are not able to survive in the wild. I highly recommend this property!

Good location to stop for the night between Liberia airport and Arenal Volcano. Room was nice and clean and breakfast was good. Price of night stay fluctuated a lot and asked Expedia to give a price adjustment and Expedia was very good with that. Although when adding one more person in same room, without any other additions to the room, we were charged $35 extra. The extra breakfast was not worth that money. That was the only disappointment.

We used this as a stopping point on our way from Liberia to Jaco as we didn’t want to drive all the way to Jaco in the dark. We loved this place so much, we wished we had spent two nights there. The rooms are very big and everything was comfortable and clean. We saw the most wildlife here as well. There are little deer everywhere. The food was delicious and the prices were very good too. Definitely a gem!

We were looking for a place with good access to Palo Verde and the Tempisque. Staying at the research station was too rugged for us. This was one of the closest properties we could find but it was still almost an hour and a half from the park. It was literally 50 meters off CA1. That said, it was surprisingly quiet. It has a very nice pool. Our cabin was very comfortable and it had reliable hot water in the shower. Not something to be taken for granted even in the more upscale accommodations.

Unique property that's a bit off the beaten path. Only spent a night there while making my way up from Puntarenas to Guanacaste so I didn't get to see everything, but I enjoyed Hacienda La Pacifica's old-world charm. Property has been well-kept and modernized where needed. Staff was friendly and helpful service is hands-off to leave you to enjoy the property on your own.

The stay was amazing ! Beautiful place with the most extravagant service I received in a foreign country. The reception desk was top of the line and the restaurant staff. A great location above the city of Canas and 40 minutes away from Liberia airport. I was able to check out the Rescata La Puma which was very nice as well
