We found this hotel very nice. The room was clean and tidy. It also gave children free breakfast not that they eat very much but they enjoyed it. Swimming pool was lovely and the hotel generally was clean. Well worth another visit.

Great location close to the old center of town. Beautiful hotel and interior courtyards. However, the staff were young and inexperienced and appear to need more guidance - both coffee machines in the breakfast room did not work for over 30 minutes. Dirty coffee cups were left on counters in the hallways. Bar staff on Saturday evening were more busy \"tidying\" an hour before closure than looking after the clients present etc. - small things but they affect the overall customer experience in a 4 star hotel.

The property was nice except that my bathroom shower smelled musty. Spacious rooms, but no telephone to call the front desk. Extremely unhelpful front desk personnel. Before booking the reservation, I called to make sure that someone spoke English as advertised and the person who answered the phone did. I was driving in the dark and rain, so I wanted to get there, but was also hungry arriving around 9:30 PM. I asked if there were any restaurants that would be open she said she has no idea. I asked again, trying to get an indication of if I would be able to find food there when I arrived; she just kept saying no idea with no willingness to help. I feel like that’s basic the front desk should know whether guests can get food or not. At least have the name of one or two late night places or delivery info available. So I arrive at 9:40 PM and GPS took me to an old wooden back door with the name of the hotel above the door as if it’s a legitimate entrance. I had to pull into an alley because there was no parking and the doors were bolted. I called to tell them I was at the door but the front desk person hung up on me. I called back three times and kept hanging up on me. When I finally found the way, she told me she is the security person there and speaks no English. It could have been a great experience, instead, I spent my one night going to sleep hungry and frustrated.

Our second stay. Comfortable bed and pillows. Room was very austere and bedside tables were tiny stools. Too small for a book and phone. The public rooms are lovely, full of antiques and art works. Unfortunately the lovely restaurant was closed for a wedding, which was disappointing but we ate in the bar area. The meal was good but extremely expensive and minimalist. I had a small piece of fish on peas, no other vegetables. Fruit salad was excellent. Check in was efficient. Plenty of secure car parking space. 10 minutes walk from centre. No alternative places to eat nearby.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful town . The front of staff were fantastic , helping us with bike hire at 4 euros a day , down to where to visit and which villages to explore . The hotel room was perfect and the pool area , a peaceful haven . We loved this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area

We stayed in this hotel on the way home with our 2 small dogs dogs. I t was clearly stated on the hotel.com web site that dog's are free, which was a surprise at the time. When checking in we were told that the dogs would cost 10 euros each. I said that the web site had said that dogs were free. We went into an argument about the 20 euros. The manager then appeared and in a very snotty attitude said that they would drop the 20 euros as if they were doing me a favour. This was not a good start. The room was small but clean. No coffee/tea facilities. The breakfast was varied and the breakfast room were staff happy and helpful, unlike reception. Plenty of parking. Just such a shame that they had to be so rude.

Hotel Good - Dinner Dissapointing

Hotel very good and comfortable, but restaurant service very poor indeed. Serving staff did their best, but we had to wait 1hour for the first course!
Obviously the kitchen could not cope with the amount of guests; poor management planning.
We will not return to this hotel, as the dinner fiasco spoilt our stay.

We stayed overnight out of season so cannot really comment on the pooland spa facilities. The public areas and room were lovely. The meal options were limited to a choice between two table d’hote menus, both were expensive but the meal we chose was very good. The only criticism would be that the reception staff were less than enthusiastic.

An excellent Hotel

We stayed here on our way to Spain and again on our return. The hotel was fabulous, the staff were excellent and it was very clean. The only down side was because we were travelling with our dog we were not allowed in the restaurant which we totally understood. We asked could we eat in the bar area and we were refused. We could not understand this as there was only us in the bar. We ended up having room service . Having said that we would recommend this hotel.

Dream atmosphere. Arrived too late for dinner but got dessert and glass of port in the garden restaurant. Elegant, spacious room. Everything seemed new, spotless, yet hotel opened 10 years ago. Good Bones, Bad Dress

This is listed as a four star hotel but that is grade inflation. There are some elements that might lift it out of the 3 category, but when everything is added together this is no higher than a 3. Two of the three staff at the front desk were far less than helpful or welcoming. The rooms are very similar to a well kept very average motel in the US, nothing at all fancy or luxurious. The restaurant was all right, also a clear 3 with plastic place mats and paper napkins. It isn't that the food was bad, it was simply average.

The bones of the old abbey are there in plain view but the rest is Holiday Inn.

Easy to find, easy to park, good room, good restaurants. One with a Michelin star which
I'm sure is excellent although we ate in the Bistro which was also very good. House champagne delicious at Euros 7 a glass.
Lots of business types about and working on computers through dinner which I think is
not a) strictly necessary or b) good manners!
Reception staff over busy and sometimes reception unmanned which is not great in a big hotel like this.

Very calm & peaceful hotel, wonderful food

The hotel is an old abbey with 2 courtyards, it has been wonderfully converted to a hotel with the original structure intact. It has a very peaceful atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and some speak very good English. The hotel also has a Spa. This is not a hotel for children but for couples and of course newlyweds we saw quite a few of them during our weeks stay. The food of wonderful but expensive and the portions were generous. We have already decided to return next year it is a great place to recharge the batteries if thats the kind of holiday you want.

On arrival the Hotel appeared to be as described, unfortunately, The hotel was not up to standard the telephones in the room did not work the air con was broken , the non smoking bedrooms had had previous smokers in them they smelt very badly, the hotel tried to charge me for breakfasts we had not had and for the rooms which had already been paid and the receptionist was not the most aimiable person! Shame as it potentially could be a good hotel it just needs attention to detail.

Il manque juste dans les chambres des petits gâteaux pour prendre avec le café ou thé le matin. Au bar ils ne proposent pas des cacahuètes ou olives avec un apéritif. Il faut réclamer et c'est offert au compte goutte !!

Nous avions choisi cet établissement en nous fiant aux avis positifs et à la présentation faite sur le site.
Nous avions préalablement réservé et téléphoné pour prévenir que nous arrivions pour 15h. Réponse: \" nous ferons le nécessaire pour vous satisfaire.\"
Comme prévu, nous arrivons à 15h.
Le message n'a pas été transmis…
Le jeune homme à l'accueil est embarrassé: \"Votre chambre sera prête à 16h.\"
Nous attendons…
A 16h, on se présente à nouveau à l'accueil : \"je téléphone pour savoir ce qu'il est de votre chambre.\"
Puis plus rien. Aucune communication. On est épuisé car on a roulé depuis sud de l'Espagne en famille depuis 6h du matin.
L'embarras est palpable et la tension monte à l'accueil même si nous ne disons rien.
Normalement, c'est le moment où on vous propose de vous offrir un verre ou quoique ce soit pour gérer ce désagrément qui dure… Mais rien.
On erre dans l'hôtel.
A 16h35, ne tenant plus, on se présente à nouveau.
Réponse : \"votre chambre sera prête dans 5 minutes\"
Le jeune homme nous donne la carte et c'est tout. Aucun check-in.
Aucune information : où est le spa ? Peut-on diner à l'hôtel (on est épuisé)? Où est le petit-déjeuner ? Et à quelle heure ? Le wifi ? Bref le check-in habituel… RIEN !
Nous montons dans la chambre et attendons jusqu'à… 17h que la femme de ménage nettoie sous nos yeux. On a failli l'aider…
Du coup, on a profité de rien et l'expérience de ce séjour a été un fiasco !
Manque du personnel et bricolage indigne d'un tel établissement.

Notre chambre n'est pas digne d'un 4 étoiles. La peinture verte sur le mur digne d'une chambre d'hôpital. Pas de porte de douche dans la salle de bain , du coup de l'eau de partout. Un mauvais distributeur de savon et du café en poudre avec bouilloire ...on est pas dans un hotel kyrias quand même.
