This is a nice hotel - large reception with lots of seating areas, big restaurant/bar area, spa, beautiful grounds, walkable to the quay area for restaurants, and a long but doable walk to town. Mary at the front desk was very nice and gracious when we checked in and through our stay. Some negatives - the property and the rooms are showing some signs of age and wear. Carpets need refreshing. We found our bedroom to be spacious. Breakfast was a bit better than average, although the breakfast staff seemed inexperienced and not as well trained as in many hotel restaurants. No decaf coffee ?? The dinner dining room staff were much better - excellent and attentive.

So disappointed this beautiful hotel has become so run down and delapidated- amazing setting - fabulous potential but very disappointing overall/ caters to over 55 / nearer to 70/ like visiting old peoples home?? Poor level of cleanliness- pool area unacceptable- jacuzzi used by 4 elderly men through out my time at beach club experience- staff totally disinterested as these men continued to press jacuzzi button - monopolising jacuzzi for themselves to detriment of other guests- and in contravention of health guidance- probably pissed in jacuzzi as well- given amount of time they remained in jacuzzi- oblivious to others in vicinity who would have appreciated being able to use jacuzzi- but given previous concerns- decided not such a good idea- really-the whole experience was nothing short of just awful- left hotel and went to Wyatt- in centre town- fabulous atmosphere food and entertainment- returned later that evening to the Westport Woods/ bar area just like a retirement home- two older men playing and dinging on guitar- woeful!!breakfast next morning reasonable/ opted for vegetarian- someone needs to explain chef what a poached egg should look like- not dry and hard boiled- definitely won’t be back- so disappointing and awful !!!

Stayed here for a week as a base to mooch around Mayo where my family roots are. Hotel decor is a little tired here and there but that did not affect our enjoyment or not make hotel VFM. Lots of friendly local/Irish staff, which I think helps to add warmth to the atmosphere and is perhaps unusual for this size of hotel - perhaps because of Westport’s size? Food is great. Had been meaning to climb Croagh Patrick for a while and finally got round to it this time. This is not for the feint-hearted and is very long and steep - no one mentioned this to me before - maybe because it’s a pilgrimage/penance thing - it’s not meant to be easy. But it’s near enough a scramble in places - never come across a ‘tourist’ track so challenging before. Pick a good day weather-wise, dress appropriately and take plenty of water. If you’ve got sticks use them. Some climbers were rocking up looking as if they’d just stepped out of the pub - this hill needs a bit more respect than that imho. Mayo is my favourite place in the world - enjoy! Slan.

Great place to stay with friendly staff. The only thing that let it down was the morning breakfast. There was a large group in just before us and we were shown to a table which was promptly cleared and cleaned for us. We then got up to get some food from the buffet. We returned to our table holding our food only to find that another waitress had seated people on our given table. We were then shown to another dirty table. Not impressed by this system of seating guests. The plates for hot food were cold meaning our food was soon cold too

We have been to this hotel before. Staff is friendly, rooms are good and the bed is super king . Close to Westport town ( 20 minutes walk) which has lots of cafes and restaurants. Unfortunately this stay was not the best due to children running up and down the hall unattended right up to 11:30 pm. Breakfast could be better as well but all and all a decent hotel.

This hotel has a lot of potential. We arrived early and our room wasn't quite ready. Two coaches arrived and the staff did their best to check them in. The bar area furniture is tired and needs replacing. Some of the room doors have been modernised with a smart oak door and surround, other rooms will perhaps follow. The bathroom was very 70's or 80's.. however clean and tidy.

Staff would need to be trained on cleaning tables properly. Staff should be carrying the food out on trays to the tables and not bringing the plates with food on them to the tables using tea towels. Our stay was just OK. Lift was not working, one of the beds in our room had dipe in mattress. A bottle of water would have been nice. Awoken at 4 in morning with an awful noise in room, a fan on outside wall was to blame. Spoke to lady in reception about noise on way out she took my email address saying someone would be in touch, still waiting! Breakfast was grand, gluten free poorly set out, box of cornflake was only option for cereal. Cooked breakfast was good. Robes in rooms would have been a nice touch to use spa and pool.

Very spacious rooms with one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in, but the bathroom really lets the property down - it probably hasn’t been updated since the mid 90s and it’s really starting to show; very tired looking, mold around the bath and just very tatty.

We had a cold room and need a portable heater as the one in the room was not working. The phone in the room didn’t have a handset and was not working at all.
We had dinner there. The main meal was delicious however, the dessert wasn’t very good. Not all elements described on the menu were on the plate. The continental breakfast was very good.

Very short staffed massive waiting time for bar food. Gave up and left went down the town for food. Some of the dishes at the breakfast were not clean and the plates for the toast etc were all still wet.

We were delighted with our stay at Westport Woods. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the common areas (e.g. reception, lounge, etc) were well-maintained and stylish.
Breakfast involved several fruit, bread, and yogurt options, plus a made-to-order hot meal too.

We checked in @5pm there was no key given for door or card for electricity. Worker sent to open door put into room with no electricity when i ? mumbled reply was problem with rooms.This was 5pm check in is 4pm.Went back to reception i was so disappointed eventually given key and card for room.We got to spend 20 mins in leisure area due to front desk f... up.which closes at 6pm Sat eve.Overall very disappointing stay and service.

Only complaint would be as we wanted a hotel with a swimming pool.. at the time well with to the pool was told the heat pump was broken but fixed but the water was freezing and need 24 hrs to heat up .. came down the next day to find its the same situation.. .. could only have used the jacuzzi.. so was left disappointed... Depending how long it's been broken if they are telling new guests the same thing.. I would have had a second thought at booking .. even asked about having a spa treatments as they have advised to find even that's closed .. would need to update advertisment to let guest know and even on the hotels bookings so guests would know before choosing to book.

Its just some areas of the hotel felt tired and could do with a freshening up, the restaurant seems to have been refurbished lately and has a really nice bright and airy feel to it.

Great service and an enjoyable one-night stay
I've stayed at the Westport Woods a few times in the past but not for a couple of years at least. On this occasion, it was the service that left a lasting impression. From the staff at the front desk to the servers in the bar and at breakfast, everyone was helpful, engaging and extremely pleasant.
The food was excellent, and the cooked-to-order breakfast was a step above the usual buffet. The staff at breakfast were just brilliant.
