We traveled from Alaska to the Dominican Republic to enjoy crystal blue waters and white sandy beaches. The beach was indeed white and nice however the water was murky brown and smelled horrible. We were told by locals that yes this water is nearly always this way due to the proximity of the nearby river. A waste of our money. The room was terribly dusty, my wife accidentally moved the drapery for the bed surround and then had issues breathing for most of the night. We lasted 1 day and had to leave. Huge disappointment! Completely false advertising here. The pools were fine, much smaller than the pics lead you to believe and there is very little shade to be found. One pool is for partying, drinking and loud music, while the other offers a mellow atmosphere, but get there early to get a spot with umbrella. Food in the buffet was good! The fitness center was also a joke, looks again, bigger in photos than what’s actually there. You are also expected to hand out tips with most of the staff if they only do their job. Also being that it’s in a gated community, taxi service is very limited and needs to be coordinated with the front desk, of which for us took 2 times until they actually relayed the necessary information to the front gate folks to let our driver inside. Here is your tip, update the facility, change the photos on your website, and tell the staff that monetary tipping is a bonus for doing a job well done and having a good attitude, not a given.

Rooms were clean and we had housekeeping every day. Food was really good and fresh. We mostly went to the buffet and enjoyed it. Specialty restaurants that we were able to try had great quality. Drinks and bartenders were really good. Staff were great and super friendly, specially the entertainment, shut out to Maria and Roberto.
We stayed at the adult side of the resort. The vibe is very tranquil and mostly couples. If you looking for “wohoo” this is not it; otherwise this is a great choice for something peaceful.
Only complaint is that specialty restaurants are by reservation only and clients are expected to make the reservation before arrival. We were there for a whole week and most were already booked.
Overall great experience and will recommend to other couples.

I love everything about this resort. It is about a 3 1/2 star, smaller adults only resort. The food is good, drinks good, pools and activities are excellent. Rooms are a bit dated but everything worked great. I love the live music almost daily!!! Local musicians and they were amazing.

I am not a beach person so this did not bother me. The water looks dirty due to a nearby river and at times there are jellyfish. If you are a beach lover this may not be the right choice for you. I am a pool girl so was very happy!

Staff was helpful and friendly. I preferred to the gym area to those in other resorts, it was not large but was sufficient for a vacation gym. Pools and ocean area were well maintained and staff was very attentive. If you're planning on leaving the resort in a taxi or uber, you'll need to notify the gate. It is kind of difficult to come and go freely without using the resort's services. The resort does offer plenty of services but, if you're a solo traveler and prefer to kind of do your own thing, just be aware of that.

If your looking for a vacation and place to simply relax, soak up the sun, read a book, re-energize your relationship, decompress, chill under a canopy, eat great food and drinks (both the restaurants and the buffets), be well served and entertained by staff, relax in the pool or chill on the beach, this is the place to come. The only downsize is the ocean water is not clear. It’s cloudy and there is jellyfish. If you’re looking to swim in the ocean and snorkel, this is not the beach. You may have to do an Excursion. The beach is still beautiful and the property as well. Overall, I would recommend this all-inclusive based on the information above.

Not a great experience, as soon as we got there walk to the beach and the disappointment started right there , brown water rocks and jelly fish everywhere...no good the room they gave us smelled like mold so much that was hard to breathe. Thank God they changed it for us , roo. Service was poor the cleaned our room 3 time out of 8 nights we were there. One morning I asked for a banana daquiry at the main pool bar and I was told that they had no banana!!! Lol funny DR Is One of the Major producer of Bananas, the entertainment nice kids but very repetitive drinks very light on the liquor the night we went to eat at Don Pablo my wife got very sick , nice place but not well managed the servers needs some training, they put there fingers in the glasses when they grab them to give you one unprofessional doing. Every morning was a problem getting decaf coffee, I can go on and on but I think this much will give you an Idea. Would I go Back? No. i Will send a formal complaint hopefully I will get some money back

The cleaning service was excellent, and maintenance was very good. However, the food quality could be better given the price, and they shouldn't charge extra for certain drinks. The entertainment team was excellent; were it not for them and the entire service staff, many people wouldn't return, because the beach is terrible—the way it's promoted is misleading. Speaking with other couples we met, we agreed that it would really help if they provided transportation for guests who wanted to go to Bayahibe Beach; that way, we would come back.

Everything was excellent. This was our second stay. We enjoyed this time even more! The staff is top notch. The food is above average with plenty to sample and enjoy. There are two large pools and a separate dual hot tub setup. The bigger \"lively\" pool has pretty cool interactive entertainment and a more energetic vibe. The other pool is more tranquil. On the down side ... 1. the beach is not the best, although the resort has little control over the issue. 2. For the destination and price, I would expect fresh, local juices instead of the seemingly artificial flavored juices. Still a 4.95 rating by my vote.

The best food is in the a la carte restaurants which require reservation. They are included in the package but take a bit more planning than the buffet! Drinks were amazing. People mostly swam in the pools because there were jelly fish in the ocean during most of our stay but I would imagine this is an issue at other resorts. The beach was very pretty and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone! You cannot beat this value.

Upon arrival front desk was very nice and professional. We came a little early from check in, so they sent us to eat lunch. After we finished food our room was ready and perfect. One bad thing was the AC wasn't as strong as expected but it wasn't a big deal for me. If you are looking for a party all inclusive hotel this ISNT IT! Its more laid back and definitely not like a Party resort. I did like it and I have nothing bad to say. All staff were very nice and tried their best with everything. The steakhouse restaurant was on of the best I ever had in my life. The Rib eye steak, make sure to try it out. You won't regret!

What an amazing time we had in this place. I thought my country Colombia was the happiest place in earth but I must say it’s D.R . Wow from the 1st person to the last person you get eyes contact I mean wow what an energy . They always so cheerful with a big genuine smile professional, kind people ,We are so ready to come back. We already miss everyone. If you happy , sad, married, divorced, single, you must come here. The place is the definition of paradise. The entertainment people are our favorites they do a fantastic job everyday I wish I have their energy. You won’t get bored here at all there’s so many activities during the day if you don’t know how to dance or speak Spanish you leave this place like a Latino. Thank you so much agin for everything. La estadía tuvo aspectos positivos, pero la disponibilidad para reservar en los restaurantes fue muy decepcionante. Nuestra reserva era de pocos dias literalmente viernes a lunes y desde el viernes cuando llegamos prácticamente no había espacios disponibles para cenar en los restaurantes del hotel. Finalmente nos indicaron que habían conseguido una reserva para el steakhouse el domingo a las 9:00 PM. Esperamos hasta esa hora para poder disfrutar de la cena, solo para descubrir que la reserva no aparecía en el sistema. Después de eso tuvimos que esperar más de 20 minutos mientras hacían múltiples llamadas para resolver la situación antes de permitirnos entrar.
Para un hotel de esta categoría, la organización y manejo de reservas debería ser mucho más eficiente. La experiencia terminó siendo frustrante y afectó significativamente nuestra estadía.

Our bed mattress was impossible to sleep in, but let me tell you that the staff went above and beyond to try to give me something more accommodating.

If you like an air conditioned room with consistent running water this place is not for you. We paid for an ocean view and had to keep the room darkening blinds closed to help keep out the heat. I asked for service every day. They came out and said it's warm air blowing and they'd fix it. It got worse every day. I asked other guests and their rooms were warm too, so changing rooms was not a solution. The toilet ran non stop if you didn't jiggle the handle. 2/5 days we came back to no running water, and we were coming back to get ready for dinner. The bathrooms are old and all floors are slippery. The housekeepers pulled this card that ran your electricity and A/C so when you came back to your room you had to reset everything. This was a first for me. We had to come back up to the room solely for the purpose of restarting it otherwise it was unbearably hot. We also put the do not disturb sign out and one time came back to the temp being adjusted.
The ocean was murky and loaded with jellyfish. We found out a river dumps into this part of the ocean and so it stays murky/sandy.
The food was very good. The wait staff is very attentive. The booze is watered down, probably not a bad thing. The entertainment was good. The sit places and walkways were very clean. The public restrooms were not.
It is extremely far from the PUJ airport.
I would not stay here again and it definitely should not have luxury in its name.

Stayed at Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville for a week, and honestly, it was such an amazing experience from start to finish. There’s always something to do, the resort is beautiful, and the staff truly made the trip unforgettable. Everyone was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely took the time to make us feel comfortable and appreciated.

A special shoutout to the entertainment crew because they were absolutely incredible and kept the energy fun the entire week. You can really tell how much effort they put into making sure everyone has a good time.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Bahia Principe La Romana. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was cold, unprofessional, and at times outright rude. The staff, especially some of the women working in guest-facing areas, acted as if helping guests was a burden instead of their job. Simple questions were met with attitude, poor communication, or complete indifference.

This hotel has potential because the property itself is beautiful, but the service completely ruins the experience. As a paying guest, I expected basic courtesy, hospitality, and professionalism, yet throughout the stay I constantly felt uncomfortable and unwelcome.

There was a clear lack of organization, lack of empathy, and poor handling of guest concerns. Instead of feeling relaxed on vacation, I spent most of the trip frustrated and disappointed. Sadly, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had at a resort.

I would not return, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting quality service or respectful treatment.

I changed rooms twice in 1 night and was only able to sleep for 2hrs due to the lack of functioing air conditioning. Not to mention, NO HOT water!

The wait staff were lovely overall. However, the management, maintenance, food and experience were AWFUL! In particular, the supervisor Wilson was the most unhelpful and least customer centric hospitality worker I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

Overall, we had a good time at the resort. The property was very clean and well-maintained, and the staff kept the grounds and rooms looking great throughout our stay. The party pool was definitely the highlight — great music, fun atmosphere, and an enjoyable place to hang out during the day.

The food was decent but nothing memorable. There were enough options to find something to eat, but overall the quality was just okay.

The biggest downside was the liquor selection. Many of the better brands required an extra charge, which was disappointing for an all-inclusive resort. The included liquor options were pretty limited and not very good.

Overall, the resort was fun and clean, especially if you enjoy the pool scene, but the food and drink experience could definitely be improved.

We loved our stay at Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville. There was so much to do on the resort and Amstar had day trips you could sign up for. We did the San Pedro trip which was very cool! We ate at the buffet the entire time, and the food was always fresh and delicious. The bars were well-stocked, and they could make anything you wanted. The pools, jacuzzi, and beach were amazing. There was tons of activities throughout the day so you could stay busy, or relax if that's more your pace. There were some cute shops on the resort. The staff was amazing, very friendly and attentive. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay! We will absolutely be back in the future!

This place is amazing. Lots of green space. Beautiful gardening. Trees, flowers, shrubbery, all taken care of. Also the service is number 1. The food is always hot and fresh. Room service is prompt. The Beach is well maintained, I always was able to have a choice of recliner chairs. Lots of space everywhere. Never the feeling of being crowded. Bottom line. I haven't got a single complaint. I would have to make one up, lol.

Listen!!!!! This place was the BOMB!!!!!!!!!! This was the BEST stay I’ve ever had in my entire life!!! Everything was FANTASTIC FANTASTIC FANTASTIC!! The food was AMAZING!! The staff was the most amazing magnificent helpful friendly polite ppl in this entire world!!! I loved every single bit of my stay. I wish I could stay there forever. Everything was 10/10. I even did an excursion and the excursion was also the best! I got sick the day before and everyone was so concerned and caring. I will be back there! The assistant manager Wilson was sooooooo sweet, polite and helpful. All the servers were just the most genuine kind spirited people. The hotel had everything I needed and had a nice store in the lobby. The drinks were nicely made and as I said the FOOOOOD!! Omg the Food!!! Anyways, I’ll be back.
