The spa is a wonderful experience. The pools are great, the food is ok not great. Don Puablos is the best. Our room was nice, only directly in front of the main lobby, nightly shows are so loud trying to sleep is impossible.

The Ocean view room was absolutely beautiful!! The bed was uncomfortable though- the mattress was hard, every morning woke up with the backache.
The gym had everything I need, the spa was very relaxing and massage was great!
One thing we were missing was a self-serve coffee station during breakfast. Staff was offering some but on their time. Had to wait for a refill and sometimes a while. There used to be stations- not anymore.
Also, it would be great if staff would let guests choose a table instead of choosing it for them- people have preferences.

The staff at this place are incredible! Extremely attentive, very interactive without being disruptive. The Food and Beverage team were phenomenal Waster and Danny at Main Lobby Bar deserve very special mention as their consistent timely service delivery was exceptional. This property and staff were amazing. The cleanliness really stood out to my wife and me — from the beach being raked daily to staff sweeping water off the floors in frequented areas after it rained. The staff were also phenomenal and incredibly kind. The entertainment team always made sure there were activities going on throughout the day and night.

We highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the Dominican Republic!

P.S. If you’re planning to make reservations at the on-site restaurants, be sure to book them before your stay using the Bahia Principe app. When we arrived, all of the restaurants were already fully booked. The buffet food was good, but we were really looking forward to trying one of the other restaurants on the property. There is also a great restaurant a short walk down the beach called Onno’s (Beach Club Playa Nueva Romana).

Pool was great but area surrounding pool was VERY slippery and someone fell. Food was usually very good unfortunately we we only able to eat at 2 restaurants because reservations filled up over a week before our trip. The beach was sand over slate with a lot of seaweed and my husband and friend got stung by jelly fish. Pool entertainment was fun and and engaging. Overall 6 out of 10. Friends said excursion had an irresponsible host who made dangerous choices in the water and no one had life jackets on. Great staff but would not recommend this place. Went to Punta Cana twice at much better facilities.

Overall we had a great experience. The rooms were well taken care, clean and had everything we needed. We did run out of hot water one night so if you get in late from the beach, plan for a cooler shower. The grounds were beautiful. The beach was lovely with lots of shade. The water was generally tranquil. There was some seaweed, but the staff did a nice job cleaning the beach. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, although sometimes things were a little disorganized. The entertainment staff were very energetic and outgoing and worked hard to get people involved in activities. Overall the food was decent. I wouldn’t say it was gourmet, but there a bunch of solid options. It was difficult to book into some of the restaurants, so I would recommend you book as early as possible. The drinks at the bar were also generally quite good, especially the blender/frozen drinks. If we were planning another week away to just sit and relax on the beach, I would definitely consider a return trip to the Bahia Principe Luxury Bougainville.

We booked this place for our 20th anniversary. Spent 5 nights. This resort is very clean and very well taken care off. The process of checking in was smooth, we did pre check online few days before to be able to book some dinner reservations. Upon check in they handed us a glass of prosecco and we went to the room. We had a pool view room, first ended up being right next to the quiet pool (as they called it - it's the pool in the back). We had some issues with warm water in one of the sinks and overall it was a handicapped room with two beds, so we did ask if they could move us to a regular room since we simply wanted a king size bed and a tub. The next day they moved us to one of their suites close to the beach. Lucky us LOL.

Food in every restaurant there is amazing. There is plenty to choose from. All staff is very attentive and nice, room service is included and it's 24/7, minifridge is refilled each day. At the pool I got a coconut shell drink (that was $5) but worth it if you fill it up with some frozen pina colada and rum!

The resort is beautiful and their entertainment is nonstop. It is a smaller resort, two pools, plenty to eat and drink. Beach is super nice, lots of shade due to so many palm trees. The water is not crystal blue because it is in a cove and there is a nearby river, so that is the only downside of this whole place. So we mostly swam in the pool but did hang out at the beach a lot. It was so realaxing.

WE had a great time and would return again.

The pool was great. The beach was nice but you better get up at 6 am to get a tippy or an umbrella. Plus there medusas in the water and sand feels hard. The bars had low shelf liquor only. The staff overall was very nice.

Let me say this: this was the worst vacation ever in the DR. The food and drinks were beyond disgusting. The picture of the beach water at the resort is blue, and the real color is dark brown with stinging jellyfish, making it unswimable i thought it was because of the weather, and they told me it's always dark brown would never have booked the resort if the water was always brown. The entertainment was awful, too. The room and pool were nice, but that is it. If I had a free trip there again i would not go. BOOK ELSEWHERE don not get scammed

It is truly paradise! Beautiful clean rooms with comfortable beds, ice cold AC, and hot showers! The service is excellent, super friendly staff, and the grounds are immaculate. The food and the entertainment are the real showstoppers though! The breakfast and lunch buffets are impressive, tons of options, very high quality food, it’s all delicious, and it’s all you can eat. It’s also all you can drink! But the dinners. THE DINNERS are crazy good, like Michelin five stars type good! They have six restaurants and all of them are blew me away. The entertainment is very engaging, a lot of fun, and they put on some incredible shows! As far as excursions off the resort, they offer just about everything you can do on the island. Don’t miss Catalina island! I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone and everyone!

The hotel was beautiful. Beach was beautiful with calm water and quiet. There was excellent staff that was very friendly and attentive. It was nice to be able to access amenities on both the adult side and the grand romana side. We utilized the tennis, kayak, pool, billiards, several à la cart restaurants and all was great.
There is also a cool cave/ park very nearby to check out called Cueva de Maravillas.

Only disappointment was cigarette smoke on premises.

Our shower leaked all over the floor. The housekeeping staff kept unlocking our patio door leaving us feel unsafe (ground floor). The bathtub didn’t drain. The app did not work so we were unable to book the specialty restaurants. Our room phone did not work to call for any help or services. We will not be back. Very expensive. The entertainment staff was excellent, Francis (bubalu), Mariano, and Cristian need an award! Francis has the best energy and is great at engaging with everyone, needs to be the employee of the month 🏆
Mariano is always smiling, dancing, and hanging out with the people.
Cristian is going to be a great addition to the team. He is so polite and interacts well with the tourists.
The gym was very good. It was small but had enough to get a good workout everyday!

The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. Everyone is very courteous and attentive. My room was spacious, clean with all the systems working perfectly (water, electricity, a/c, etc).

The pools and the beach are spotless. They really make sure to keep it clean.
The reservation restaurants are great for a romantic dinner.
The pool activities are ok, if you're looking for a peaceful place, me personally was looking for more of a party place so got a little boring at times.

The one suggestion that I can make to the hotel is to bring back paper menus to the pool bars. It's difficult to scan the code with the phone specially if you're in the water.
Overall it was a great experience. We'll definitely be back.

Our stay was amazing at Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville. We were beyond impressed with the luxury food options and the exceptional staff. The grounds are immaculate and well maintained DAILY. Our room was cleaned and tidied up twice a day. The entertainment crew was exceptional and provided several activities a day. If that is not your thing there is also a large quiet pool on the other end of the resort with no music playing, perfect for relaxation.
It is important to note that this resort is on a little bay, not the main ocean. This meant the ocean water was a bit turned up and not your crystal clear Caribbean ocean you picture. The beach area however was absolutely beautiful, and we still felt comfortable swimming. There was plenty of seating at the beach with beautiful sun shades and palm trees. There was plenty of room for full sun exposure as well.

Los Corales wasn’t good, surprisingly. Maybe it was because we went during the last hour, but left much to be desired. Buffet was what you would expect, Luke warm variety. I think it’s definitely worth the stay for the grounds, right on the beach. The staff is very helpful.

The food is the best part of the resort. There were complications and barriers at every turn. The staff: this is complicated. At the pool bar, they were lovely. Everywhere else, it seemed as though myself and my friends were a bother. Furthermore, I have heard rumors about how people of \"particular skin tones\" are treated in DR. I never believed them until I experienced this trip. There was favoritism, staff snatching things, not receiving any of my perks, complicated reservations. Water was barely lukewarm in my shower. Thankful I had good company for the trip.

From the moment you arrive, through your stay and even when you checkout, you feel welcomed and treated like your family. The resort has been located in the place with stinging jelly fish problem . It is rare but happens. Water is murky . Very nice beech with tallest palm trees I have ever seen . Resort was fully boked and there are not enough beech lounges for all . When in full , resort might not accommodate you right away in the room what you paid for. This place is loved by people between 50-80 . Has amazingly good food , good drinks . Buffet restaurants are very well organized , looking good too. Yung entertaining crew is working hard to make fun every day. Whole place is also clean , like still in some type of covid regiment. We ate a lot and no stomach problems. Older folks have a lot of fun there. We had too.

Check-in process, I was told, because they were overbooked ( I did early check-in online). She told me instead of asking that I need to stay at the family side of the resort for a day, instead of the Adult-only I paid for. She said I can get a free couples massage. I told her I'm not interested, I'm not staying at the family side. She caught an attitude. She first tried to put my wife and me in a room with 2 twin beds. After I reminded her, I have a king-size reservation. She checked me in and spoke to my wife without looking at me for the rest of the check-in. She didn't even say thank you for the welcome, nothing. Everything else was beautiful. The room was perfect. We loved the food, all the options, and the friendly staff.

Very clean. Excellent food. Good service. Had a difficult time getting our rooms when we arrived. We were a group of 6 friends but rooms were scattered and one reservation was especially difficult. I had called ahead and spoke directly with front desk and was assured that they had reservations for us. 6 single women, and two rooms had only one bed. 2 ladies needed handicap scooters which didn’t arrive until the next day, even though they were requested when I confirmed our reservations by phone. I speak fluent Spanish so I know they understood my requests when I spoke to them on the phone. Otherwise the resort was excellent!

Entertainment staff was great. Cleanliness was fantastic. Food was mixed, some 7/10 meals, some 4/10. Reservations at the restaurants are nearly impossible to get, we ate most dinners after 8 pm in order to get a reservation at all. Rooms were a little dated with no electrical and some care delinquencies. Sand had thorns we both had stepped on. Jacuzzis were ice cold. Speaking only English was a little difficult. Very European and Spanish-speaking guests. The staff trying to aggressively push timeshare meetings was annoying. We learned to love our time there but we needed to look past a lot. The temps were great and place is generally beautiful. My wife loved it raining on and off all day, I did not. Some jellyfish at times and no staff cleared them from the beach. Drink service was great sometimes, especially at evening entertainment, but hard to get at times poolside. Not the resorts issue, but flights out were impossible, American cancelled our flights multiple times and sent us all the way across country to fly out.

The entire resort was great! The room was nice, the staff were super friendly and helpful, the food and drink selection was very diverse. The grounds and resort generally are gorgeous. About the only thing I was not thrilled with was the pools and swim-up bars closing at 6pm, but I imagine there is a liability reason for that. Plenty of other things to do to relax though, and other bars remain open. Will always remember my visit to this resort fondly.

Was supposed to be a Deluxe Junior oceanfront suite with king bed, no king, 2 full size, couldn’t see the ocean, shower was partially broken, no hot water, & the bleach smell was overwhelming. They moved us to a king poolside room which was better but the mattress was like sleeping on railroad ballast. The shower door leaked onto the floor making it extremely slippery. The patio door handle/lock was broken, 2nd locking mechanism worked but looked like the door was broken into.
The biggest disappointment was making reservations at the specialty restaurants. All the reservations were taken except some that were after 2100-2130 or there was a cancellation, which we had at 1830 one time in 7 days. Even more disappointing was when we went to see in person at the restaurants if we could get in on a cancellation more than 1/2 -2/3’s of the restaurant had empty tables with tons of servers standing around doing nothing. There were designated smoking areas but seemed like it was designated everywhere, even on the room balconies. For an adults only resort they should mention that there are no elevators, would say the majority of people were over 60.

Third stay here, but very disappointing. A coconut fell from an unbarricaded palm tree and seriously injured my wife, ruining our vacation. Beach safety was unclear, and the front desk was dismissive and unhelpful throughout.

The resort was beautiful. Room was clean. Everything was in acceptable walking distance. I wish when making restaurant reservations you could tell if the building is on the adults only side or family side easier. Love that WiFi and room service is included. Had some issues with room service coming to get their dirty dishes though. Pools were amazing. Entertainment was great and not annoying like some resorts. Always something to do. One of the best breakfast buffets I’ve had. The Asian restaurant was a 10/10, download the app and make a reservation was soon as you can, maybe even 2 there. The bed sucked, hard as a rock but whatever! Would 100% go back and recommend.

Beautiful property but unfortunately of the 2 rooms we reserved, one had leaks from the shower, flooding the room. After 3 attempts from maintenance to fix it, they offered another room. It was a handicap room and it lacked a normal shower. After additional complaints, they provided another room. The replacement room was not an upgraded pool view one like the one we paid for but the hotel claimed a comparable one was not available. It was only after I submitted a complaint to Expedia that the hotel suddenly found a comparable room. And since the hotel was concerned about a negative review with Expedia, that they offered a complimentary massage for the inconvenience of having to move rooms three times and having to spend 2 nights in a standard room. Also, I wouldn’t recommend this property for anyone who loves the beach and ocean. The ocean water was very dirty and murky and there were warnings about jelly fish, making the beach experience very poor. The beach was also infested with large bee nests near most trees making relaxation pretty challenging. Having travelled to the DR nearly 20 times but always having stayed in Punta Cana, the overall experience was below average at this hotel.

Staff was very friendly, helpful and welcoming! Room was nice although noisy until 11 pm. Shower door didn't close so bathroom floor was always wet and slippery. Beach was beautiful although not the white sand and clear turquoise of some places. We loved both pools and especially the swim up bars! Breakfast and lunch buffets were great, dinner restaurants disappointing. But we enjoyed our trip and would go back. The beach was great and we miss it now!!!

Food is boring. This is not a 5 star hotel. More like a 3 1/2
The a la carte restaurant are not that great either. The entertainment is so lame. They need to improve their entertainment nights. I was a solo traveler and they kind of ignore me on the service sometimes. Water pressure on room are not so good. It took me forever to fill in the hot tub. Not sure if I would stay here again.

I rarely leave reviews, but this needs to be shared. We found cockroaches in our hotel room. This completely ruined our stay and made us question the overall hygiene of the property. I would advise travelers to look elsewhere.
