Our stay was the most memorable holiday. Thank you Teresa for the amazing hospitality. Anything we needed Teresa had the answer where to find it. Her smile every morning made our day. Breakfast was amazing, the room perfect! We will definitely be returning and have already made referrals. The property has lovely shops and a restaurant across the street that was incredible. Good location for restaurants and visiting Herculaneum in Ercolano. Short train journey to either Naples or Pompeii and small book able tour coach leaves the train station each morning to visit Vesuvius weather permitting. Very comfortable accommodation with breakfast and fully recommend for a unique Italian experience.

My husband and I stayed in Ercolano at Villa Durante for 2 nights on our vacation through Italy. Therese was a wonderful hostess - so kind, gracious and thoughtful. The property is a beautifully restored 18th century villa within 10 minutes of Herculaneum. The train station is a 15-minute walk, and there are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance.
After visiting Naples for dinner, I was glad that we stayed outside of the city. Ercolano feels safe and the people are so welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed our time there.

Breakfast was delivered to our room every morning which was very nice, the bed was comfortable, the WiFi didn’t work, it was about a 15 minute walk to the station which wasn’t too bad. We had issues with the bath leaking over the hotel room, it was quite a loud area at nighttime.

If you’re planning to visit Pompeii or Herculaneum, please consider this hotel. It’s absolutely stunning. We had the entire villa to ourselves for two nights and the hosts were very hospitable and the breakfast was very cool too. They come in serve it to you in your room. the location is very close to Herculaneum that you can walk to it.

Pretty poor from the hotels point of view, so beware. They need to sort out their pricing with hotels.com. Just made a good stay poor.

Villa Durante was like stepping back in time! The room was perfect for a family and provided space and privacy. The staff was very helpful. Beautiful breakfast was provided.
I wish I realized staff was not on property though. We weren’t sure if we were there completely alone or not and when we had questions at night we didn’t know what to do. We took the “closest” train stop, but I recommend getting off at Ercolano Scavi to experience the town a bit. The other stop had us thinking we were very isolated, but really weren’t.

Beautiful place. About a 10 minute walk to the Herculaneum and plenty of restaurants. Room was cool and clean. Check in was easy. Breakfast was amazing each morning. Highly recommend this hotel.

Villa Durante is a lovely old villa that’s well located for Herculaneum. The room we stayed in was lovely and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were able to check in early too. As well as the rooms, there’s a lovely lounge area and breakfast was served there for us. Would definitely stay there again

The hotel is a small b&b using a few rooms from a historic villa. The bed was really comfortable and the room was clean. The breakfast was excellent. The car park onsite is very convenient. Do not stay at a airport hotel. I highly recommend staying at this hotel for convenience to the Naples Airport and a unique experience. The hotel is also conveniently located near the herculaneum ruins.

Ercolano is most likely not on your Italy vacation travel as a place to stay. However, if you plan on visiting Pompei and Herculaneum I would highly recommend Villa Durante. The staff was fantastic. The corridors of the Villa make you feel like you are Italian Aristocrats from the 17th Century. The Breakfast was outstanding Ercolano is a \"real\" Italian city and I loved the streets with all of the balconys.

An absolute gem of a place
This is such a beautiful hotel/BnB. It’s pure old school magic, with really high ceilings and original fixtures - the pictures looked almost too good to be true but it’s even more special in real life. Our room (family suite) was enormous, very comfortable and clean and the breakfasts were delicious. Francesca who does the breakfasts was super lovely and great with kids, and everyone else there was really friendly and helpful too. The location is great both for exploring the ruins at Ercolano and for getting into Naples easily. Can’t recommend this place highly enough and really hope to come back again.

The suite itself was above and beyond what we were expecting, the amount of space available just for us was incredible. A huge lounge area (where breakfast was served each morning) and a large spacious bathroom. And additional dressing room. Then to the bedroom with its vaulted ceiling, deep sunken bath and large comfortable bed. Then finally we reach the outside balcony with its seclusion and privacy. On a better warmer evening it would have been the perfect place to relax with a glass of red wine.
We would absolutely reccomend this accommodation to all our friends and family. We also hope to return one day for another visit.

This place is magnificent!! Beautifully restored with spectacular wall frescos and superb facilities - oh and you must try the bath!!! The location area is a little tired, but you couldn’t ask to be closer to the fabulous ruins of Herculaneum - which are well worth a half day visit. We love to come back

Villa Durante was easily the most special and unique accommodation of our entire trip around Italy.
From the warm welcome of the staff to the uniqueness of the palatial suite of rooms. Villa Durante is an original, palatial old villa built by a wealthy family in the 1700's/ 1800's. We stayed in the suite with the frescoed walls and it was truly amazing. The room itself was huge, and we also had two bathrooms, one incredibly ornate one fit for a Queen, as well as second bathroom and large dressing room area. The bed was supremely comfortable.
Breakfast is wonderful and was brought into us each morning on a table for us to sit and enjoy in front of our balcony.
Parking too is incredibly easy, it is on the premises in a gated private courtyard, and the location of Villa Durante itself is incredibly handy. Much easier to get to than we expected, and an amazing base to explore from. You can travel anywhere and we did, into downtown Naples or you can travel to the airport easily, or over to Vesuvius and Sorrento. Lastly, the incredible buried town of Herculaneum is literally just across the street. We saved ourselves a trip to Pompei and visited Herculaneum instead and were not disappointed.
We agreed that we would always stay at Villa Durante again. We can't recommend it highly enough. Just loved it. Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff.

Stayed 4 nights on our trip to Ercolano. Lovely room, comfy bed and pillows. Beautiful breakfast served each morning at a time of our choosing. Central area close to the town, Herculaneum and train station for trains to Naples and Sorrento etc.

Bucket list experience!
It was one of the most amazing places I have ever stayed. The villa itself was so grand we felt like royalty! Teresa our host was excellent, she was super friendly and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. It has a great location only 20 minutes drive from the Mt Vesuvius climb and around the same to the ruins of Pompeii. It is also walking distance to the other lesser known ruins of Herculaneum. I would not hesitate to recommend Villa Durante to anyone visiting this area, great for convenience but outstanding for the bucket list experience! We will be back.

A hidden gem …stay in style
We arrived from Naples airport quite late and was greeted by Francesca who was so helpful to guide the taxi driver to the villa door. Taxis are expensive and it cost us 65 euros. The villa is a hidden gem and each room is as stylish and beautiful as the pictures on the website. Our room was a mini suite which was spacious and comfortable with good AC. We arrived too late to go for dinner however there seemed to be various cafes / restaurants around. Francesca and Teresa arranged the most beautiful and delicious breakfast of croissants, fresh fruit, yoghurt and perfect cappuccinos which they bought to our room. We visited Herculaneum which is literally 5 minutes walk away which is fantastic and really worth a visit. We cannot thank Francesca and Teresa enough for their kind hospitality to make this such a memorable stay. We had a short walk to the rail station to head off to Pompeii. Highly recommend.

The accommodation was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was nice with fresh pastries and fruit.
Naples as a destination was not so good. Very run down with not a great deal to do or see. We visited Pompeii which was our main goal and that was very interesting. Do not drive here as it will ruin your holiday. The drivers are totally bonkers and put you under a lot of pressure.

Villa Durante was easily one of the coolest places I've ever stayed. The historic accommodations were so well appointed - impeccably clean, comfortable, and just absolutely lovely. The breakfast served each morning was beautiful and delicious, and our hosts were friendly, attentive, and kind. It was a wonderful experience to stay there, and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting the region.

The room was beautiful, but the facilities are lacking a bit. The hot water ran out while I was running a bath, and there was no extra toilet paper and things just felt kind of spare. But I think you are paying for the extraordinarily beautiful space, which is very much a treat to be in. I found check-in and check-out confusing, but feel like my confusion was no fault of theirs. Breakfast was nice and served by the loveliest, friendliest woman. It was not quite what is pictured on their website, though. Not much to do around it, but I was also there on a Monday when it seems a lot if closed. It was definitely a beautiful, beautiful space.

Villa Durante was wonderful. The room was modern where you want it, yet kept the old-world ambience. Our suite was very spacious and comfortable. The only downside was needing to carry our suitcases up the uneven stone staircase to the main hotel door.

humble front entrance and was treated by the lovely Valentina. She escorted us up the ancient stairwell to the front entrance of Villa Durante…the doors opened and the magic began!!!!

humble front entrance and was treated by the lovely Valentina. She escorted us up the ancient stairwell to the front entrance of Villa Durante…the doors opened and the magic began!!!!
I felt transported, back to the renaissance era.
The beauty of this palazzo has to be experienced to be believed…. although the pictures on the website do a good job of sharing the exquisite rooms.
The lovely and gracious Theresa, had our breakfast beautifully laid out for us at the dining table, at the very early am, as we requested. The breakfast was delightful and plentiful.

We stayed here because we went to Ercolano Scavi. Only 2 restaurants within waling distance and the Pizza place was good. Room is better in person than even in pics. Some items in disarray and broken (like mirror, etc) but our overall stay was amazing. The Breakfast... no words. Blew us away with the amazing food and presentation.

Villa Durante is a magical place to stay. The staff is extremely warm, welcoming, and helpful. The facilities are gorgeous and historical. I felt like royalty staying at the Villa! The Herculaneum ruins are a 5-minute walk, so this is the perfect place to stay if you are visiting the ruins. In addition, they arranged our transportation to Pompeii, which is only a short 20-minute drive from the property. It was such a pleasant stay here, I would highly recommend it for a one-of-a-kind experience!

The door is easy to open from outside, but not easy to lock from inside. The breakfast is good. You can request milk. Easy to park since it has own parking spots, maybe only two since there are two units. I am not sure. The staff is nice.

The receptionist was very helpful and guided us to a very good pizzeria in the area. The room was smaller than I thought it would be but was comfortable. We were glad that parking was available but tight. But I guess it’s normal for Italy. The breakfast with very nice and the staff was very thoughtful. Thanks for the hospitality.

What a spectacular stay!!
Within seconds of meeting Maurizio we knew this would be an excellent stay. The whole family are fantastic--very personable, eager to help any way they can, and incredibly accommodating. Breakfast was spectacular with endless choices, and the property! Oh my what a spectacular villa. We had the suite and the views of the bay at sunset, the incredible vaulted ceilings and the amazing furnishings and decor were absolutely stunning. I do hope it wil be available on our next trip, what a fantastic stay!!!

It was quite fun staying in a true Villa with common areas that were huge with soaring 20 foot high ceilings. Our review had a circular staircase leading to a loft bedroom.

This is a beautiful property. We stayed as a family of 4. The staff were amazing, breakfast very good and it’s a walk to Herculaneum. You need to call before you arrive to get in and have a parking place inside. We recommend Herculaneum before Pompeii as a visit so you see the better preserved first. For those that don’t mind a short drive and the real grande experience. The bedroom is fantastic.

This is a beautiful old Villa in Ercolano. The area has grown crowded around it but I would stay there again as it is located walking distance to amazing historical Herculaneum ruins. It is close to train line (think Sorrento and Pompeii) and good local dining sports that are reasonably priced. The staff are really great and worked to make our stay the best experience.
