Our stay went pretty well. We’ve stayed at the property many times and this one was different than most in the sense that we had gotten to the hotel by 3 as we always have in the past during much busier occasions (Easter/ Summer events) and were always able to have a room soon as we got there or a very short time after. We were informed that check in is in fact 4 which we had been fine with but our rooms as well as many other couples didn’t open up until well after 4 (4:30

Our family went during the off season (beginning of March 2026) and it seemed they were understaffed. The lobbies, sitting areas, pool areas, carpets, surfaces were dusty and dirty from other customers and not being cleaned in between. Every person I saw was working so hard and very pleasant. But, in my opinion short staffed. Cute ghost tour and planned kids events. Rooms seemed clean and up to par, the rest of the shared parts of the resort, not so much.

The hotel is lovely and all of the staff were very professional. However, our check-in time was supposed to be at 4:00, but our room wasn't ready until 5:30. This was a great inconvenience. They gave us a drink each on the house by way of apology, which was nice, but an hour and a half wait is unacceptable. It meant we had to delay our pre-nade supper plans, and because of that we missed the haunted tour of the hotel, which was something we had really been looking forward to.

The room was very large, high ceilings -- we were upgraded to a room with an ocean view for free -- thank you! One suggestion is put tea/coffee cups in the rooms instead of plain glasses since the keurig is handy but hard to use with plain glasses

We often stay at the Algonquin on our way to New Brunswick. It truly is a treat. We love the history of this hotel and just the general beauty of it. The food is not the best so be prepared. We ordered dinner it was close to $165 for 3 of us and the food was sub par. That is a lot of money for a sub mar meal. It's too bad. Also, there was. a dirty mask on the floor which must have been an oversight but it just grossed me out sorry ):

Room they assigned was very small and oddly shaped.
Room we accepted was larger and open, however totally outdated and in dire need of refurbishing.
Next unacceptable problem was over charge on our dinner bill.
Finally an unknown service charge of $15 per day plus tax for use of pool, game room, which we had no interest.
We also found lack of cleanliness in dining room ( floors)
We have stayed here before and will not in the future.
Very disappointing. This is not a Marriott to brag about.

I love staying at the Algonquin however the Braxton restaurant is consistently disappointing. The service is rarely speedy. This time the food wasn't cooked properly. They did replace my meal.

The hotel is due for some improvements to keep it at a high end level.

Bathroom shower is in desperate need of a deep clean. Lots of green in there and overall it needs an upgrade.

The staff is friendly and accommodating.

Pool area needs improvement as well. The hot tub area is not clean and the walls are coming apart.
There is never anyone coming by to clean up water on the decks which makes it very slippery.

The dining experience way below expectation misrepresentation in their menu, up keep of the room not idéal and in the stairway at the xtremity very Dirty in my book at this type of resort we should not see those things happening and when I told them after my stay i didn’t feel heard by the manager it felt like oupps sorry good buy i would recommande it only with réservation if you don’t mind ordering from the menu and when you received each meal some ingrédients in your plate its not what it was suppose to be and they only say we run out but it happen more then ounce you wonder is it a regular occurrences and as well the food was barely warm unfortunately …the only good thing is the staff was really nice if i would go again no would I recommande it with réservation i would tell you go at the pines in Digby instead same type of resort and its way more enjoyable the food is better and clean space unfortunately very desapointed and the response of the manager after my feedback didn’t felt sincère it felt that his answer was generic he just wanted to get it done ……i didn’t felt heard which contribute to the fact that if someone would ask me if i recommande it i would have to tell them my story first……but the staff was nice

My major complaint was that one day during our stay housekeeping failed to close and lock my room door. We returnef from a day out to find it wide open. Fortunately no one accessed my room but we were lucky. This was inexcusable.

The Algonquin is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are not designed well and we had very little light in the room. With one white bulb in one lamp nightstand and the other a dim yellow it look weird. There were corners of dirt in the bathroom along the shower. Nice hotel, just expected a little more.

This is a classic resort hotel in St Andrew’s. It’s a short drive or walk to the wharf. We didn’t want a huge dinner and ate at Treadwell Inns restaurant. Excellent meal using local produce. Algonquin breakfast is excellent - continental or buffet. Room was small but nicely done with quality bedding and nice shower. We did not take advantage of any other resort extras, though you must pay a $25 resort fee.

It’s definitely an iconic hotel. Everything thing about it is classy. Apparently there are even a few ghosts at the hotel though I never encountered any. Ha. And if you love walking then I suggest you leave the car in parking lot and enjoy St. Andrews on foot.

Although the property was clean, the staff helpful and the availability of a shuttle to go downtown we did not have a good experience at the Algonquin.

There were 5 couples staying for 3 nights. Our dining experiences during this time
was less than ideal. We ate 1 night in the Pub-- slow service, very slow to get our checks(30 minutes) and terrible entertainment. Another night we ate at Braxton's-- 6:30 reservation was not done until 10:00. Waited 2 hours for our food to come-- 1 hour between salads and entrees. Ran out of bread, limes and many wines. When we asked to speak to the manager he was confrontational and unsatisfactorly made some amends. Would not recommend the restaurants.

A broken luggage rack and refigerator were not replaced.
