I had two nights stay in this hotel. the location is great, short walks to food, shopping , café and subway station. even though it is close to some very busy and crowded streets, my room is nice and quiet . stuff are very friendly. definitely will stay here again.

The hotel location is excellent, very close to major attractions. It has free shuttle service to some of them. The staff is conversant in English and is very knowledgeable about how to get to these attractions.
The room is large, and art deco style. The bathroom is painted black, and very dark. It could use more lighting . The mini refrigerator did not work in my room.
Overall, I will stay here again for its location and friendly staff.

The room was a bit cold probably it was drizzling out there. There was no heater. Overall, it was a nice stay as the hotel was centrally located, short walking distance to metro chayyuanchang and in front of the hotel, there was a walking street with a lot of eateries and shopping mall. Easily accessible to attraction like Suzhou museum, Humble administrator garden and culture street.

This is a great hotel right in the middle of the famous Suzhou shopping street.
From outside it might not look so great, but once you enter you feel the comfort and the unique design.
The rooms are spacious. No noise at all. They have good pillows and mattress.
Only comment to the management is the breakfast, it was lacking the taste and the colorfulness we have seen in other hotels in Suzhou or shanghai. Perhaps a little creativity in designing a good menu can serve customers better.

All we did was book a room in a city we had never visited before. No expectations. We walked into the lobby and were met by smiling staff. Check in was a breeze. OUR ROOM WAS AMAZING!!! Huge room. 2 full couches, 2 full king beds, complimentary everything. Just blown away. Thank you Hotel Soul.

It was a wow for me. Extremely spacious and clean room. Surrounded by lots of eateries and shopping outlets. Train station is 200 mettes away.
They also provide free transport to the suzhou train station and Humility Administration.

The front desk people are very friendly and helpful. Its location is perfect. It takes minutes to the main pedestrian mall of the city and metro station. There is free shuttle bus to several main attractions and train station. The room is very clean and breakfast is good.

This hotel's location was perfect for exploring Suzhou. It's about a 20-minute walk to the Lion Grove Garden, Humble Administrator's Garden as well as Pingjiang Road and the canals where you can shop and take boat rides. The hotel also offers an hourly shuttle to Humble Administrator's, the train station and airport. My friend and I were able to take an affordable cab here to and from the train station as well as short, affordable cab rides to Tiger Hill and Master of the Nets Garden. The staff speak clear English and will happily call cabs and arrange dinner reservations for you. Breakfast is provided in the morning and it's a buffet with a little something for everyone -- congee, belgian waffles and nutella, bacon and eggs and more. The funky decor meant to represent the past, present and future of China also put smiles on our faces.

WORST HOTEL EVER! DON'T BOOK THIS ONE!

Let me be straight about this hotel. It's probably the WORST hotel that I have ever stayed in my life. The review score should be around 6-7 at most but definitely not 8.8. The beds are so small!!!! Probably 1.8m at most, I can't put my legs straight. The most important thing!!!!! The elevator in the middle is about Mao!!!!!!!! which scared me of course. The decoration is soooo bad. I should probably say this hotel don't have a style at all. They just put purple, blue and red all together. But I have to admit that this hotel is at a very convenience spot over all. BUT You can definitely find a better one at this price!!(It's not 4 star hotel at all. And the PICTURES are invalid!!!!)
ps: China union 4G is not applicable in the room. And the wifi is not good as well.

Love it!

Hotel Soul is always my favourite hotel in Suzhou every time I visit. The hotel is aging as the years go by and this time there is a strange smell in the lobby area, could be the old city sewer pipes that affected it. Hope they can do something to remove the smell at the lobby.

A great hotel in the centre of Suzhou. Close to shopping, sightseeing and the metro.
Staff is friendly, English speaking and helpful. There is a restaurant and bar (with live music) in the hotel, as well as a gym. The rooms are spacious, quiet and nice decorated.
Breakfast is outstanding, Chinese and Western food can be found.
Overall I had a really pleasant stay and will be back for sure.

Cleaner so kind even gave my bag a wipe down to my surprise.
Room not enough lighting consider furniture are black in color.
Shower has no power, water-flow slow and little not seen in any hotel I had stayed before. Very disappointing.
Heating preset @23C no airconditioning I have to switch off heating system to sleep in comfort.

Great location for shops, some sites and very easy for the Metro (3 min walk) to get to the rest of town. Hotel room bed was very comfortable, staff friendly and helpful and many at Reception spoke English. Food was good and the Soul Bar a pleasant place to have a drink and a snack. Enjoyed our stay and will stay here again. Certainly value for money in our opinion.

We stayed two nights at hotel soul. We were placed in a smoking room initially. Upon raising this, the staff member changed us to a non smoking one which was much appreciated. Breakfast buffet offered a lot of choices, both western and chinese cuisines. The highlight was the service extended by staff members Alan and King. We were late in booking the bus shuttle service which runs every hour from 9am to the train station. Alan and King were kin enough to offer a courtesy bus ride especially for our big group of 5 so we didn't have to catch two taxis instead. Thanks so much for the great service and help you've shown us Alan and King!!!

Hotel in great location. Walk to shops and old town gardens. Nice rooms with excellent soft beds and pillows. Not good views from the window.
Good shower , no hair conditioner , but to be fair ,none of the hotels we stayed in provided that.
Very good , vast breakfast buffet, European and Chinese dishes.
Seems like some refurbishment was going on , which it needs, as some parts are showing a bit of wear and tear, especially the lifts, but no building noise.

I would definitely recommend Hotel Soul Suzhou. It's worth of money. The hotel location is near to the shopping and eating streets. Room is special, clean and comfortable. The included breakfast has variety that suit everyone. The hotel staff is very helpful. I felt hot during the wee hour and called the front desk and realised the aircon is centralised. But they provided me a fan:D. Only one thing to take note, if you are looking for a day tour, the travel agent attached to the hotel is only consolidate the customer and send you to a join a big tour group with a big tourism bus. I signed to go to wuzhen day trip, the agent did not give full information. It was end up only went to wuzhen east side with 1.5 hour limitation. the rest was given to another ancient town, Luzhi with additional charges for other groups, group lunch come with charge and a shopping trip at silk manufacturing. Overall, please be prepare to join a local style group if you like.

We had very good experice with our stay in Hotel Soul Suzhou. Although it is not a five-star hotel; however, Hotel Soul povided services are better than any of other five-star hotels that we have been. Front desk is friendly and helpful. Hotel manager, Ms. Wang, talk to us when we came back and leave the Hotel. They even provided transpotation to send us to the train station. We also like its location and free breakfast. This is the second for us to sty in this hotel. We will be back next time when we visit Suzhou.

My family had great experience at Soul Suzhou hotel. It is conveniently located at Guanqianjie Street, minutes away from Metro line #4. Staff at front desk were friendly and thoughtful. They asked us about our trip plan and also gave us recommendations about transportation and restaurants nearby. We booked a family room. It was spacious and super clean. We were impressed by the soundproofing. For the proximity to Guanqianjie Street, we heard little noise and had good sleep for two nights. The complementary breakfast had varieties of choices. The whole family had happy meals there.

This hotel has a bit of personality with features such as themed elevators and a purple elephant-shaped towel on the bed when arriving. The location is great and the staff are friendly, the only thing stopping a 5/5 is maybe the hotel is starting to show it’s age a little compared with other hotels stayed at on the same trip.

Nice modern hotel just off the busy pedestrian street, easy walking distance to all the gardens and sights.staff in dining room are excellent and quantity and quality of food was top class. Lobby is dark but in keeping with quirky red and black decor throughout the public areas of hotel.bedrooms perfect.good restaurants are scarce in the area but after the breakfast we had no problem. Overall the room was ok, but there were some bad smell in the room though we already changed to another room because of this smell problem. It seems that the ventilation system produced the bad smell, because when we turned off the ventilation system the smell faded away. Other than this, the staying here was ok. Location is good, near to the subway station and shopping street.

Charming boutique hotel in central location

This hotel was in a very central location in Suzhou, right in the middle of a pedestrian shopping district. It's also within walking distance to a lot of the main tourist attractions, such as the courtyards and Shantang and Pingjiang streets. A subway station is also very close. The room itself was very comfortable, with a cool vibe and nice design details. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. This would be an ideal hotel for English-speaking foreign tourists: the staff speak fluent English, all information in the room are in both Chinese and English, and if you wish, there is a western-style restaurant and bar attached to the hotel as well. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Suzhou!

Really excellent staff at this hotel. Not quite spotlessly clean, but surely adequate and clean. Very helpful staff and a truly great location. Numerous great locations nearby.

Our best stay in Suzhou

The breakfast is full of variety and yummy. The hotel is located in the heart of the old town shopping area. Consider the price, the quality and service, it's definitely the best choice for us. I stayed at this hotel in 2013 and 2016 and surprisingly, the room condition got even better than the first time.

Modern hotel close to the famous gardens

The hotel is modern, clean and reasonably priced. During off peak hours it's a 10 minute ride to the famous gardens such Zhou Zheng Yuan, Shi Zi Ling, Liu Yuan, Wang Shi Ling etc..

Couple of days in Suzhou

Came to Suzhou for a couple of days to sightsee. Was pleasantly surprised by the Hotel Soul. Mike and James were absolutely great and helpful but Mike especially went out of his way to make sure we were looked after. Cannot say enough about Mike and the entire staff.
The hotel was super close to everything and it is very deceiving, a lot bigger than it appeared.

Staff with bad attitude, not service oriented

The location of the hotel is ok, good for shopping. The service at the hotel is terrible, the worst one I have even stayed. Even can NOT call a taxi, even after asked for many many times. The staff are terrible, with very bad attitude. Also, the hotel is hard to find.
