We enjoyed our stay but the room was super small as was the bathroom for 3 adults. It looked larger in the photos. Their blow dryer kept turning off (over heating). The staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast was good!

Great location close to the city center but that's the only advantage. Don't be fooled by the view of the gardens and pool; very basic rooms. Smallest bathroom. Shower that even the smallest and thinnest person can't get into. Lukewarm water in the shower and no hot water at all! Breakfast is very basic. Cold omelette, cold coffee, no vegetables, just small, tasteless tomatoes. The simplest cornflakes. Dry cakes. Service that barely clears the tables. The hotel could easily be a 5-star hotel if they focused on repairs and attention. Too bad. Look for another hotel, it's not a 4-star hotel at all

bathroom was large but had the smallest possible shower jammed in one corner
Pool was wonderful and well kept
But huge missed opportunity as there was no bar or food service. A drink on the balcony would have been fabulous as would some food options

The Good:
The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the grounds are absolutely lovely—peaceful and well-kept. Definitely one of the nicer parts of the stay.

The Not-So-Good:
That said, the rest didn’t really feel up to four-star standards.

Parking on arrival was impossible, as they had events going on. Street parking was necessary until later in the evening, when things quiet down.

The bedroom was VERY small. The bed was incredibly hard, and the pillows were so thin they were almost pointless. The shower was tiny—I literally couldn’t turn around in it or lift my leg to wash my feet. It felt more like squeezing into a wetsuit than using a shower.

Breakfast was also pretty underwhelming. The overall selection was minimal in each category—just a few cold cuts and cheeses, and the only eggs were either hard-boiled or some pretty sad-looking scrambled ones; no bacon or sausage or cooked meats. A few pastries and tarts rounded out the meager selection.

All-in-all, this is much more a tired three-star hotel than a four-star hotel, except for the lovely grounds,

Excellent breakfast. The room had two good luggage racks (unusual as there's normally only one) and a walk in wardrobe with full length mirror. Room was a bit bland in décor but fine for a few days in Martina Franca. The shower cubicle is very tight even for a small person like myself. However, overall, with pool and lovely garden, it was a great place to stay and walk into the old town from.

Beautiful grounds, very clean room which was cleaned daily. Shower was on the small side and the hairdryer was prehistoric! Good service during meal times, waiting staff were very accommodating. We only used the restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast was ok, offered the same things each day. Lunch menu offering a good amount of options. Pool area was quite small for the size of the hotel and there wasn’t any parasols available which was a shame because it was very hot. Overall a good location and a lovely stay had by all.

The gardens of this grand old building are just beautiful and offered a sanctuary to return to during the heatwave. Staff were always helpful and friendly. The included breakfast was very good. The room was simple, sparkling clean and quiet, with a nice green view, but shower was really tiny. Location perfect for exploring the centro storico, walking distance to all the main sights with the bonus wednesday markets right out front! Highly recommended and good value for money.

All good. Just if they recommend l'osteria del Coco Pazzo for dinner in town, I wouldn't pick that as our experience there was terrible. We got the menus half an hour after we got seated and food 1 hour after that and when complained the owner got very aggressive, shouting on my face without a mask despite inside the restaurant.

Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds

This comfortable hotel is set in beautiful gardens and located within ten minutes' walk of Martina Franca's old town. The guests are mainly Italian, but the staff were mostly pretty good with my embarrassing lack of Italian language skills. I stayed with my two children - our room was big, airy, clean and comfortable. There was an enormous double bed and a single bed so unlike many other 'family rooms' we all had plenty of space. The swimming pool was delightful and as most guests didn't make their way down there until after 10am, we could enjoy it by ourselves. We didn't eat within the hotel, only breakfast, which the children loved - lots of pastries and fruit. I'd stay here again.

superb old hotel needs tender,loving care.

The hotel is beautifully located....with lovely grounds ...but it appears that the hotel is under financial strain, probably from competition with the multitude of boutique hotels. The hotel has a lovely long terrace , where food is served and a place to just relax with a drink perhaps, unfortunately, there was never a waiter to offer service, we had to chase up someone through the front desk. The showers in the rooms are too small.....even though the bathrooms had the space for larger shower \"modules\" The staff were very helpful, the hotel just needs more staff and more care. The pool area ,although, beautifully located, it lacks constant attention.

No wifi in room. Had to downgrade room because they didn't have a twin bed as booked on your site. For flashing the toilet we had to wait a lvery long time between flashes.
We are very disappointed. For this price ( 220 euros ) we shoud get a much better room not to mention that we waisted a bonus night on it.

We ask for a fair compensation by getting another bonus night asap because we intend to continue our booking on your site.

Pool was unsafe to use, Aircon was not switched on. Grounds are run down. Room is stark. PA system in disco worked REALLY well when started at 2230 on a Weds evening for a europop birthday party. Continued thumping away till late in the night.

Fantastic Retreat

As others have commented the hotel does at first glance come across as a little dated and tired but it has southern Italian charm which means that it may be a little rough around the edges but made up for by excellent quality and frienliness. The gardens are also an oasis of calm away from the frenzy of the town and are spectacular at night.

Complete disappointment!The room was small, not what we were expecting from the description. No coffee maker, no room to sit and be comfortable. There were barely any outlets to charge electronics. We had to unplug the tiny light by the bed to plug in the refrigerator for the cheese we had bought. The lighting was so poor we could hardly read!
Wifi basically just outside the office. Don't even call the breakfast buffet breakfast! Who wants to end the trip with coffee coming out of a machine that we couldn't even figure out to use. The very small buffet did not look fresh...and it was so dark in the area it was hard to see. We just packed up and left to get breakfast at the airport. The staff was helpful and pleasant.

The reception staff were extremely helpful on several occasions - especially when we had problems with our hire car and need to contact the hire firm. Breakfasts great.

Parking - great relief to find trouble free parking though the signposting from the front of the hotel to the easier rear access could be better.

A lovely hotel in the centre of Martina Franca

We arrived by train and the hotel was easy to find walking up from the train station. It is set in a lovely garden with an outdoor swimming pool, which although cold was very refreshing. The wisteria was out when we were there...gorgeous!!
We had a huge room on the first floor with one double bed and one put-you -up bed. One of us had to have the small bed,which was adequate but it would have been nice to have a larger one. There was space for it.
The breakfasts were very generous: ham, boiled eggs, savoury breads, fruit, yogurts and lots of sweet cakes and croissants. They served coffee and drinks and were around later in the day if you wanted a drink. Very helpful and attentive waiters.
The receptionists were very nice and mostly spoke English and one looked up some information for us on the internet and printed it out for us.
My only criticsm is that it was noisy a couple of nights: a party and a conference with music until about 12.30

OK PROS; Good location, short walk to sites, old town and restaurants. Hotel is large with nice surrounding gardens. Breakfast was good, and very friendly man running it. Free on site parking CONS; Does host functions and conferences so can be noisy at times. One of our nights we could hear music and a dj upstairs. Room was large, bit outdated, shower had no mount for the shower head so had to hold it whilst you washed yourself. No safe in room either. No complimentary water in room, and they have signs in room to not drink the water, only wash with it. Didn't offer to clean our room until 4pm, which was to late as we had just returned from site seeing. Man when checking us in offered no info re wifi, breakfast time & where, or map and info on city sites etc. which we had experienced at other hotels. Basically just handed was our room key.

I stayed here a couple of years ago with a friend and we found this hotel had everything we needed and in a great location. This time I stayed with my parents and the hotel was as before. Front desk is efficient. Breakfast service friendly and loads of food on offer. Rooms, although not modern, are spotlessly clean, a large size and equipped with everything you need. The surroundings are pleasant and it is literally located a few minutes walk from all the shops, cadged and restaurants of Martina Franca which is a lovely town. For the price this hotel is excellent.

Nestled just outside the historic center of Martina Franca, this garden oasis from the heat and city make it an ideal place to stay, which we did for four nights. With ample free parking, the hotel is extremely convenient for exploring the surrounding towns of the Valle d'Itria such as Alberobello, Cisternino, Locorotondo and Ostuni by car. The hotel itself maintains an opulent charm from a slightly bygone era - the room while spacious and clean had an extremely dated bathroom with a whirlpool tub/shower combination but no shower curtain or partition. This resulted in copious amounts of water splashing about the floor. This combined with shoddy caulking around the tub left me with a dim view of the bathroom. The room furnishings were dated and tired. The room did include a nice veranda. The reception staff were brusque but efficient and acceptable. The waitstaff were very pleasant to deal with, and the morning breakfast buffet vast - excellent coffee. Your fellow patrons are mostly Italian businessmen, a few tourists and \"the regulars\". One gets the idea that many of the rather elderly patrons come back for a relaxing stay on a yearly basis and have been doing so for some time. Overall, the hotel is recommendable. Martina Franca itself is a splendid maze of an old town, and not to be missed. Try Piazetta Garibaldi for amazing food.

Lovely stay at Park Hotel San Michelle

I recently stayed for 5 nights with a friend on a visit to Martina Franca as my parents stay in the area and we really enjoyed our time here. The hotel provided everything we needed and the service was great. We had booked a twin room and were given a room with two bedrooms, large bathroom and big terrace! The rooms were very spacious, clean and well equipped with large wardrobes, mini fridge. The bathroom only had a bath with a shower attachment so a stand up shower was not possible but this didn't really bother us. Worth asking the hotel if there are rooms with stand up showers if you would not be happy with this arrangement. Breakfast was good with enough choice and you can eat inside or out. We had some lunch twice and were well catered for. The staff and service were great. They provided beach towels for the pool, wi-fi is free and they let us check out late in the afternoon on our last day without a problem. Although this hotel is not modern luxury and perhaps lacks one or two expectations of a 4 star I have given our stay 5 out of 5 as the hotel more than delivered on what we needed and surpassed our expectations in terms of the space and service we were given. I will be returning again!

Great environment!

This was a great hotel surrounded by trees and plants. The hotel staff was very friendly and helped us to find a good restaurant. The hotel was close to the old downtown.
