It's a nice traditional place, very well located in the old town. Very clean but not very modern, and with a shower-in-tub arrangement that was difficult to deal with and felt quite dangerous. Absolutely lovely breakfast room and excellent breakfast. Very good food and huge portions in the hotel restaurant. No English TV at all, not even CNN or BBC, so that was a disappointment,

Very nice location right in the old town. Public parking at affordable rates available very close by. On the downside, the room was advertised as having air conditioning. It looks like it had in the past and that the thermostat controls had been removed.

Very nicely located hotel

The hotel is perfectly located, we had lovely afternoon walking in the Old part of Meisses. The bed is comfortable. The only detail that can be easyly improve is to give a complimentary bottle of water in the room. There is nor coffee machine or kettle so at least a bottle of water would be welcome. There is a small city car parking near hotel.

This is an elegant hotel but we arrived during a heatwave. There was no airconditioning and a woman was complaining about the heat in her room. Our room was a bit warm large and beautiful with a extra room for my grandchild. Breakfast was great and the area around the hotel is gorgeous! I'd stay here again.

Service above and beyond the call of duty

The hotel itself has all the standard things you would hope for. Good rooms, comfortable beds good breakfast etc. It’s in a great location in the centre of the town and close to the bus stop for the tourist bus which takes you to the castle and the porcelain factory. But what sets it apart (and has made me make the effort to write this review) is the outstanding service we experienced throughout our stay and in particular Susan the receptionist who, after we had checked out and left the hotel on the day of the October storm, took us back in when we found all the trains had been cancelled and persuaded the overbooked taxi service to find someone to take us to Dresden for the next leg of our journey. For which we are eternally greatful.

Good, But Single Rooms Small

This is a nice, clean hotel with luxurious decor and room appointments. My single room was way too small, and I couldn't get the wifi to work either in my room or in the hotel's common areas, even with the help of staff. Parking is convenient, whether the hotel's or the public lot on the square.

Overall it isn't a bad hotel. The woman at the front desk on week days did an outstanding job. She was very, very nice and she went out of her way to help us in any way she could. The woman in charge of breakfast during the week did an excellent job. On the weekend the staff seemed inexperienced. On Saturday I called the front desk at 4:30 in the afternoon, and the woman told us she would bring them right up (I speak fluent German, so language was not an issue), and 2 hours later we still didn't have the pillows. At 20 to 7 my friend went down to the desk, and finally about 10 minutes later, we had our pillows. Had she not gone down to the desk, we still wouldn't have had our pillows. The woman in charge of breakfast on the weekend was very sweet, but my friend ordered an omlette at extra cost, and it was the worst she had ever eaten. The experience overall was ok, but not up to the standard I expect from this caliber of hotel.

Excellent location and good service.

The location of the Goldner Löwe is superb, being at the centre of the wonderful old town of Meissen. Unlike nearby Dresden, Meissen somehow avoided being bombed in the 2nd. world war, and so the old squares with beautiful old buildings, not to mention the cathedral and castle, all have a genuine and authentic feel, whereas one is always aware that nearby Dresden has been (is still being) rebuilt in its former image. One small problem is that the hotel has no private car park. Cars can be parked right outside in the market square, where it is free from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. and on Sundays but incurs a fee at all other times.

The atmosphere is formal yet friendly, with good service. The room service in particular is immaculate. Bathroom facilities are also excellent.

Despite the slightly expensive breakfast, I felt that I had good value for money and would happily stay there again.

Small boutique hotel lacking amenities.

Right in the center of town. No A/C and nobody to help you with luggage as you must go up and down a maze of stairs to get to your room. So if you don't mind being without A/C in the Summer and carrying your own luggage up and a maze of stairs, it's not a bad 3 star hotel.

PS. Internet extremely slow to none functioning and no room service. Otherwise, it's OK for few nights to see Miessen.

Stayed just for night on the way to Berlin. The hotel is right in the center of the city- we had issue finding a way to drive close to it, in the end we parked few minutes walk which was okay for us. Room was very nice, spacious and clean. Had everything one needed. We had an issue to get into the hotel as we arrived late- apparently there is no one in the hotel after 18 which is not mentioned anywhere. We did get a call from hotel around that time and they gave instructions on what to do- but the whole situation was strange.
Breakfast was very very very good- all of high quality, good choice. All in all i can recommend it.

Although hidden at the square the hotel is a gem among hotels. Meissen is a film set for historical movies. If you find it hard to find a proper hotel in Dresden, I recommend Meissen at a half hour by train, especially if you like porcelain

Het betreft een mooi nostalgisch hotel.
En daarom is er geen airco aanwezig.
De kamer was benauwd warm toen wij aankwamen. (Het was de laatste dagen ontzettend warm geweest.)
Bij navraag kregen we een ventilator en met de ramen open was het goed vol te houden.
Het personeel was zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam.
Het ontbijtbuffet was zeer goed verzorgd.
Al met al een goed adres voor overnachtingen.

The city has much to offer, the castle, the cafes, the porcelain factory and access to another castle about 25 minutes away plus it is near Dresden as well. The winding streets and green environment is excellent. The hotel was very good but there should not be a brunch service during covid and one person at reception was not very nice.

Die Lage mitten in der Altstadt ist hervorragend. Man ist fußläufig in kurzer Zeit an den meisten interessanten Punkten.

Das erste Zimmer war für uns nicht machbar, da nur über eine steile Treppe zu erreichen und für einen 1,90m großen Mann zu niedrig. Auf Nachfrage wurde uns aber sofort und völlig unkompliziert ein anderes Zimmer zugewiesen. Danke nochmal!

Feines Hotel im Herzen von Meißen

Der Goldene Löwe ist ein gepflegtes Haus im historischen Teil Meißens. Es liegt sehr zentral und fußläufig nur drei Minuten zum S-Bahnhof Meißen Altstadt. Man kann wunderbar Meißen und Umgebung erkunden, aber in Dresden in man in wenigen Minuten mit der S-Bahn.
Die Zimmer und anderen Räume sind sehr gepflegt und sauber und das Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Das Frühstück lässt auch für Personen, die eine andere Ernährungsweise bevorzugen, keine Wünsche offen.
Durch die Buchung über Hotel.com hatte ich ein super Preis-'Leistungsverhältnis.
Ich kann das Hotel uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

Wochenendausflug in Meißen

Wir waren mit Freunden in Meißen, um die Stadt kennenzulernen. Es ist eine kleine nette übersichchliche Stadt. Von der Albrechtsburg hatten wir uns mehr versprochen, die Porzellanmanufaktur war jedoch sehr interessant.
Das Hotel hat eine fantanstische Lage in der Innenstadt. Das Parken ist nicht optimal, entweder kostenpflichtig auf einem öffentlichen Parkplatz vor dem Haus. Für ein Tagesticket muss man aber um 8.00 Uhr am Automaten stehen und dieses lösen, um nicht einen Strafzettel zu riskieren. Andererseits gibt es etwas entfernt einen kostenpflichtigen Parkplatz des Hotels.

Hervorragende Lage, ansehnliches Haus mit Geschichte, speisen kann man auch gleich da. Service beim Empfang hervorragend. Allerdings später nicht gerade ausgeprägte Hilfsbereitschaft anderen Personals z.B. bei technischem Problem.

Das Hotel ist sehr zentral lokalisiert, was meistens nur vorteilhaft ist, aber da war ausgerechnet am Abend als wir dort waren, das Kneipenmusik Fest in Meißen. Laut musiziert wurde an jeder Ecke bis spät in der Nacht, und auch mit geschlossenen Fenstern war es unmöglich zu schlafen. An so einem Abend wäre es vielleicht sinnvoller etwas ausserhalb des Stadtzentrums zu übernachten.

Ein Traum von einem Hotel mit ATHMOSPHÄRE...
GENIALES Frühstück in einem wunderbar hellen (OBERLICHT) großen Raum mit individuell zubereiteten Eierspeisen. Brot und Brötchen typisch sächsisch (eben lecker!!!)
Direkt neben dem Stadtmuseum und kleinem Brunnen gelegen, drei Minuten zum Marktplatz mit FrauenKirche und Rathaus. Zwei Minuten zum Theaterplatz. Zehn bis zwölf Minuten zur Porzellanmanufaktur.

Das Hotel befindet sich in der Altstadt von Meißen und wir konnten alle Sehenswürdigkeiten bequem zu Fuß erreichen. Ein privater Parkplatz steht ganz in der Nähe zur Verfügung. Die Zimmer sind geschmackvoll ausgestattet und ruhig. Großes Badezimmer mit Fenster. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen. Das Frühstücksbuffet ließ keine Wünsche offen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.
