Reception area was lovely. Room was fine, no issues. We had 2 meals in the bar, both were very poor. Music was nice in the bar. I went to the thermal suite and had a treatment, while it was nice it was not worth the price of the trratment in comparison to other spas I have visited. I wouldn't be rushing back.

Absolutely beautiful hotel.
Spotlessly clean and lovely grounds. We had dinner at the restaurant where service was exceptional and food was great. Breakfast lovely.
Staff were friendly and helpful. We informed the hotel it was our wedding anniversary and they provided sweet treats in the room which was really thoughtful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel itself is beautiful and immaculately clean, but it was the incredible staff who made my stay memorable. They were all wonderful, and Fi-fi at reception was particularly outstanding. I had made a mistake with my booking, and she went above and beyond to help me resolve it quickly and efficiently. Our room had milk glass windows, so we could not see anything and there was som kind of ventilation or air conditioning shaft humming for the better part of the night (kitchen?)
Service at breakfast was inattentive, could not even order hot beverage until I had almost finished my meal. The breakfast buffet offered a decent range and was well set up, so that one did not have to wait but replenishment e.g. orange juice was slowish.
On one occasion our room had not been done at all (despite us being away from 9am to 10pm. On most days nothing beyond towel replacement had been done in the bathroom, so no cleaning of surfaces, floors or the toilet. As for the carpet, it was hard to tell if it had been hoovered.
The surroundings were nice, convenient car park with easy to park bays. Pleasant bar with good service. The restaurant served good dinner with nice and attentive waiting personell but the atmosphere of the room itself was very impersonal, cool and uninviting.

A very beautiful hotel. However, not at all kid friendly. Particularly for travelers who were exploring all day, and the pool closes for children at 7pm. The kids were devistated.
This is why we choose this hotel. Also the tv selection is minimal for family movies and entertainment, which was challenging when jet lag set in.

Completely over-priced with really dated bedrooms

Very dated bedrooms. Everything felt cheap - single ply cheapest possible toilet paper, cheap plastic non-brand shampoos, etc. Nothing luxurious and the bedrooms felt like a mediocre 3 star. Ate in the bar (once I could find someone to serve me) which was \"grand\". I paid €155 room only on what appeared to be a quiet Tuesday night. There was nothing to justify this price - it feels like the hotel is ran by accountants with budgets ruling the roost.

I recently enjoyed a Spa break at Mount Wolsey. From start to finish the staff were amazing, attentive and very welcoming. We started out using the pool and jacuzzi, facilities are nice and the staff professional and helpful. We had dinner in the Aaron lounge. Our Waiter Mark was exceptional in his customer service. We also booked in for some treatments at the Spa. The team at the Spa go over and above for you. The facilities are so calming and relaxing, you won’t want to leave.
We also booked in for Afternoon Tea, this was delivered in the Snug, a small but relaxing room off the Aaron lounge. Kayla looked after us here, she was so pleasant and welcoming. I will definitely be back again and recommend anyone who is thinking of staying to book your trip. You will not be disappointed.

Firstly on our arrival, we were both very impressed with the hotel and we were also both very impressed with the bedroom facilities too.

However, I’m afraid that is where all the good things ended.

The following is a summary of our stay:-

1) Upon arrival on Friday afternoon, my fiancé and I went up reception to check in. The lady at reception was fine at first - checked us in - then got the payment of our room that was due, then she just gave us our room cards. She never told us where our room was (which floor etc). She never told us where we could get something to eat. She also never told us, where we could get our breakfast the following morning.

2) We found our own way to our room and as I said above, we were very impressed with the room.

3) On Friday, we went down to the bar / restaurant. We sat down and got some food menus. We weren’t asked, did we want drinks or anything.
After about 20 mins, I got someones attention to take our orders.
My fiancé ordered Soup for starters and the Salad for Main Course. I ordered Soup for starters and Chicken Wings (which I’m a big fan of) with Chips for the Main Course.
We also ordered 1 pint of Guinness and a Diet Coke.
After around 25 mins, our food or drinks drinks had still not come. I went up to the bar and said that I was waiting on the drinks above. There was a pint of Guinness lying there god knows how long and this was given to me (needless to say, I didn’t drink

The worst coffee I have had in a long time, no barrista and when I asked for non dairy milk it was just run through a machine in place of the dairy milk with the same tubes, when my latte didn't reach the top of the glass the server just topped it up with water!

This was my fourth New years eve staying at the hotel.
First year ...... service was AWFUL
second year..... much better
third year....... outstanding
this year has reverted back to being atrocious again. Im so disappointed as I look forward to my time away only for it to be spoiled by poor service! Even at check in , there was no one present for ages... I was just standing there ( as were other residents)awaiting a receptionist.
When I got to the room, the room was absolutely FREEZING. It took ages for it to warm up. Another complaint I have is the lack of seating in the bar on NYE. For heavens sake it is one of the busiest nights of the year. All hands should be on deck , working away like bees. I will add here that there is one OUTSTANDING worker. Her name is Lisa and she is the hardest working person on the team. Absolutely brilliant and deserves a mention. ( and a medal!) Yes there was staff present but lacked training ( how hard is it to clean a table or pick up a chip from the floor!) interest and motivation.
I know people may ask why I bother going back! MW has an appeal and an atmosphere that is hard to beat. Breakfast is beautiful and rooms are nice. Spa is lovely and pool is pleasant.
I wish MW would review their staff and previously high standards and put a plan and trained staff in place to deal with the masses at peak calendar times.

Very poor overall bar service, rooms look tired in desperate need of a make over shower pressure low and at times cool temperatures. Will not be returning . Very disappointing week end. Stayed in this hotel to celebrate a birthday which we informed the desk at check in. At this point we ordered a bucket of ice and some glasses to be sent to our room. The bedroom was large with a comfortable bed and two nice easy chairs. The ice bucket arrived and we departed to the spa to have a look around. Everything worked but it needs a make over and let’s the hotel down. Had calamari in the hotel bar that night which was very nice but the pizza was disappointing. Tasted like a frozen pizza and we complained about it

It's a lovely comfortable relaxing hotel with good facilities and in a good location for other attractions such as Rathwood etc. The staff were extremely nice and hospitable. Food also very nice. The only real thing that I have negative to say is the service was quite slow or it seemed like the hotel was understaffed since it was busy while we were there. We tried to order some desserts & drinks room service but had to go down to the restaurant and bar to order ourselves. The bar was also quite understaffed when getting food. This can be annoying when on a time scale with small impatient children! Front desk was also quite busy at times & only one person on it at one particular time. Although the staff were really lovely & friendly, it just seemed they could do with more of them !

Enjoyed overall but hotel needs a lot of work to bring it up to the rates they charge. In bedroom, safe wasn't working, lock on bathroom faulty. In pool, ladies lockers were hard to lock with some not licking at all. Dirty wet towels left lying on floor. TV in Aaron lounge fuzzy picture with guests struggling to get a consistent picture. Twice we had staff enter our room. Cleaning staff on Sun morning enter thinking we had left and again on Sat when we called reception to get the bathroom door opened as it was stuck. Fabulous grounds and nice staff overall. Just expensive for what you actually get as a guest.

The young man at the desk was extremely friendly even towards our two kids. The lady serving us in the bar/restaurant was also lovely. Similarly the girl at the leisure centre when we arrived almost too late for my daughter to have a swim let us in as it was quiet. Great stay. Couldn’t fault it.

Beautiful lobby, comfortable rooms and I enjoyed using the SPA's thermal suite. The bar was very busy and there was supposed to be table service. It took 25 minutes for us to be served, despite going to the bar at one point and being told they'd send someone down to us. Had a nice toasted sandwich but the overall menu could've had more variety. Really wanted a relaxing break which is why I deliberately chose a hotel that doesn't have too much going on nearby. However I was disappointed with the noise. The rooms could benefit from soundproofing; could hear a baby crying in another room for hours. A toddler was left screaming right outside our door in the corridor by its parents. Hotel was promoting itself as a family-friendly hotel during Easter, with activities for children. However, consideration for child-free guests who want to relax would be nice. Would be helpful if they could group rooms with young children together and put child-free guests together.

Worth a trip!

It was my third New Year’s Eve visit to mount Wolseley. The third year of a price hike. Started at 370€ for 2 nights then went to 420€ last year and then this year it was 456€ for B&B no dinner included. I enjoy my stay there that’s why I return but I won’t if the prices continue to rise!
My stay was lovely. Room was better than previous years...... 344...... despite them all being quite similar layout.
Bar service has improved 10 fold since my first visit. Staff appear to be a lot friendlier and efficient.
My one gripe ( bar the price!) is the service in the breakfast room in the morning. Young staff on that are a bit inexperienced. I ask for hot milk and it takes an age to get it or I get a tiny jug or indeed I got 3 jugs of it the other morning!!!! Teapot that doesn’t arrive etc..... The lady that greeted us is so pleasant and efficient so full credit to her. She does a marvellous job so forgive me for not catching her name.
Overall I will go back . I love “MUSH” the musician in the bar. Music to everyone taste.

Hotel was very impressive on check in. Room was tidy and nice. Staff friendly. Food not so nice. Poor for 4* in my opinion. Ordered room service, order was wrong, ordered side of “battered onion ring” which were nothing more than a cheap dunnes lidl or aldi frozen bag of onion rings that cost about €0.80c for the bag but cost us €3.50 for the side. Concentrated orange juice at breakfast. Asked did we want to sit at the window for breakfast which we did, it was the glass fire exit door beside us we thought nothing of it. Got our breakfast from buffet and sat down to enjoy it only to be constantly disturbed by people coming in the fire exit door because they’d been standing out there smoking. We were smothered with the smell of smoke whenever the door opened.
Was disappointed for the price we paid and a 4* hotel to have such disappointing food.

We only stayed 1 night for a flying visit to see family. From check in to check out the staff were helpful and friendly. The grounds and hotel are spotlessly clean and stunningly beautiful the room was comfortable with everything needed. Could not fault or think of a single thing to improve on. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked to perfection with good quality ingredients and plenty of choice.

Great place to relax. Clean, great staff, golf course, pool, fitness center, restaurant, breakfast. Room and bathrrom where large and quiet. Hotel is fairly new and everthing is in great condition. In house spa is great and makes the hotel a nice place to stay esoecually fir couples

One Night in Tullow

Rooms are large and spacious .. I was in room 244
In my room were two single beds .. the pillows were far too big and were not too comfortable for me .. the bed was soft and again .. not my personal preference.
The room had a separate toilet and bath room. didn't use the bath .. but used the shower ..at best the water temperature was warm ..
The TV in room was rubbish .. not the limited channels .. its was the quality .. it wasn't HD .. which I think should be the norm now .. but the quality of the picture .. all fuzzy .. clearly an issue .. not sure if this is the case in all rooms.. I only stayed one night .. so I didn't raise with the hotel.
I used the restaurant in the evening .. good simple bar food .. great service .. but I would say expensive ... I had breakfast the next morning .. no complaints .. all good food and great choice.
The service levels of the staff were excellent.

The hotel was lovely and clean and we had some lovely food in the bar, However we were put in an interconnecting room to a very loud couple/couples that were up all night shouting and it made our stay very uncomfortable. I would have expected paying a rate of €247 for the night that reception would have at least taken 10% off the bill for unreasonable noise in the early hours of the morning.

Excellent reception staff

Stayed for two nights. Had room service both nights and the first was much better than the second. The front desk staff could not have been more courteous and nice. Was a little disappointed with the service in the bar area but overall it was a really good stay.

Mount Wolseley Hotel 3days 2 nights midweek 7/10

Nice old style hotel, lovely big rooms and beds, excellent breakfast and really comfy chairs. Not much going on in the area if you aren't into golf. I'd recommend the Chocolate garden 5K away, a trip into Carlow for some shops/ cinemas and food (only really fast food/bar food in tullow) - 30mins drive and the altmount gardens 15-20mins drive (only open all of the walks in dry weather).
The entertainment/singers' set was geared towards the older folks (alot of over 65's- vast majority) but i did really enjoy the guitar.
The spa treatments are really nice with elemis products, but they are on the pricey side.
The food was pricey too, and not much for veggies.
Got to check out the gym, it's basic but clean and has everything needed, staff are friendly and helpful too. Attempted to go to the pool but was closed due to an 'incident' and did'nt reopen for the remainder of the trip.
All in all i'd recommend Mount Wolseley Hotel, for a relaxing stay, but bring the car to fill your day/evenings elsewhere.

Wonderful break

Everything about the hotel smacks of relaxation, the lobby area upstairs and downstairs is so comfy with couches everywhere. The breakfast is wonderful, staff are great. If your looking for a relaxing break its definitely the place to go.
