The cost of staying in this hotel for a Single Occupancy room is outrageous, considering the very ordinary standard of offering. The room was comfortable. Breakfast was very basic.

Room was fantastic and very comfortable. Staff were very efficient throughout the hotel and we found the bar and food reasonably priced. The food at breakfast and dinner was very good. The one negative that on the Friday night we stayed there was 3/4 Christmas parties which we could hear in our room until after midnight. Apart from that the hotel is excellent and I would definitely stay there again.

The only possible negative comment would be the menu is only a small one, but not many people will stay for that length of time

Beautiful hotel but bad experience

Disappointed, main floor room that had main hall door on one side and a van parked outside our window that prohibited us from opening our window. Loud on both sides. Event going on and van outside window was loading at 130 in the morning.Family room beds were odd, lights attached to headboards kept you from being able to sit back in bed, they were in the way, could hit your head if slept close to head of bed. Talked with staff in the morning and they apologized for the terrible experience. She tried to give us credit back for our room, but unfortunately because we booked through hotels.com a third-party she did not know how she could compensate us. We paid nearly US$300 for our room that night and I was very disappointed. She promised she would email us in someway shape or form to make it right and I have yet to receive any correspondence.

We spent one night here on our way from Dublin to Kilkenny.
The staff were prompt and very polite.
The location is rural, but the facility is top notch. A grand staircase greets you as you enter the main lobby.
As a group, we occupied three rooms.
Our only issue was the lack of room air conditioning (but iist say the temps while we visited were the highest in almost 80 years).
The rooms are equipped with an energy saving feature, you must place a room key in a wall mounted to activate any in room power or lighting. If your remove the key card to exit the room all lights and wall power turn off.
This was not a problem once we figured out how it worked. We had two room keys, so if a person remained in the room, the spare key allowed them to watch television and have lighting.

I stayed here several years ago and it was in the middle of a refurbishment. Now some time has passed the refurbishment loos great and the room was nicely appointed and equipped. Comfy beds and had a good nights sleep.

The service in the bistro bar was good but the food only OK. I would have expected better and there were a lot of flies buzzing round landing on my plate and glass which wasnt nice.

Overall nice hotel and top tip, avoid parking under the trees outside the main entrance. My car was covered in so much bird muck the rental company charged me a cleaning fee. :-)

Listed as a 4* hotel but yet small things like no tissues, hand cream or shower hats in the bathroom. Glasses not changed or fresh water on day 2 of our stay.
The bed was just about made - the sheet wasn’t flatten so we had to make our own bed.

Amazing hotel. Stayed here with a friend while motorbiking one night and honestly it was one of the most relaxing hotel envoirments i have ever been in. The staff were super friendly. Everything great about the hotel except room 124. The room was right beside the heating system that kept us awake for 2 nights. We paid E388 for this noisy room and one would need google maps to find. We got a brick wall outside our window last stay. We won't be returning again.

The staff at Woodford Dolman were pleasant, however, I made 3 calls to the front desk for assistance with a remote. The carpet in my room was stained in multiple places and dirty. Not something that was hidden but in numerous places on a light grey carpet. A bulb was out in a lamp and needed to be replaced. Made me feel that the room was never checked before the room was given to me.
Walls are paper thin. I could hear the next room's patron yawning and snoring.

There was no access to drinking water except to walk into the restaurant. No mini fridge or microwave in the rooms. No gym! Although there is space and room for it.

The food wasn't good. Not many vegetarian or vegan options. There was probably one thing I could eat.

I would say this hotel is good for hosting day events but not great for overnight stays.

The staff was pleasant and responsive to the issues with my room and offered an upgrade.

Their staff more than make up for any niggles (i.e em groining plumbing from time to time) and not to mention the absolutely lovely location. I had views over the river barrow and beyond. Breakfast service was stellar, clean attentive and professional staff. The breakfast itself was both filling, a good solid Irish breakfast.

This is where you should stay if youre in Carlow.

Clean, friendly hotel. Third stay for myself in about a fifteen years, and staff were very nice to deal with, at reception, bar and restaurant. If you are booking for Carlow, this is where you should stay. Not walking distance from the town but a short taxi ride.

The rubber ducks are a lovely touch.

Disappointed with our stay. We arrived at 3:30pm to check in and were told that none of our 4 rooms were ready. We understood that check in was at 4pm so asked if 1 room of the 4 was ready and we could just out our bags in that room. However, she said no room was ready. I don't understand how they were going to get all the rooms finished in half an hour. We left our bags at reception. We were attending a wedding in another hotel so it was annoying we couldn't freshen up in our room. We returned back at 2am where the porter checked us in and we went up to the room. The room was clean and nicely decorated, however it was very cold and the duvet was light enough that we used two on the one bed. It wasn't even a cold night. Check out was early at 11. It confused me that check out was so early yet no rooms were ready at 3:30pm for check in. Overall a disappointing stay but price was good.
