Hotels.com Saved our 4th of July

We booked a different location in town, but arrived to find several key issues that were very important to us & why we booked there.

Hotels.com & local property management allowed us to stay at a sister property literally 500 yards away that was perfect!

Great room, mini kitchen we weren’t expecting, pool was great, quiet, all the things you hope for during a hotel stay.

This was my 2nd time staying at this place. My 1st visit was Summer 2023. That visit was perfect but my recent visit was a major deal-breaker. Checking in didn’t go well at 3:30pm. The clerk was very stern with the way she spoke to me. Instead of welcoming me to the hotel I was attacked with comments relating to the $250 smoking policy and the construction going on. When I got to my room I noticed a lot of banging and construction work going on. More than I expected. I was frustrated cause I just drove 10 hours straight from Taos NM to Decatur. I was wanting to kick back and relax. But instead I got to hear BANG BANG BANG from hammers near my room. I walked down to the lobby at 3:45pm. I asked the clerk when the construction would stop. She said 6pm. So I went out for diner to buy some time but when I returned at 6:30pm the construction was still going on. I am a retired military vet and I have never experienced like this before. I am still frustrated with the hotel cause I paid good $$ for a nice quiet room. I also wanted to make note that this hotel is on an island. No restaurants are walking distance. You will need a car to get anything to eat. I will gladly remove this review if I am comp’d a free room for my inconvenience. Its sad cause I really like this hotel chain. I plan to stay at Candlewood in Amarillo in a few weeks but hopefully I will have a better experience

I really wanted to give 5 stars for this hotel because i loved the amenities and the full kitchenette. My TV remote would not work, somtimes my door key stopped working, and my room although clean had an odd smell enough so that i had to open the window..i think it was what they used to clean with. I saw other people also at the front desk complaining about their TV remote as well. I suggest not using such strong smelling cleaning supplies, and at least weekly checks of the remotes by staff.

Worst hotel ever

They did not have a room ready. They had to go clean one while I waited. Took about 25 minutes to get checked in. They were very rude.
Room was dirty, stained carpet, badly stained. There was pee and toilet paper in the toilet. Obviously it hadn’t been cleaned. Water to the toilet was shut off.
Shower water pressure was terrible. Water was spraying out everywhere except where it should have been.
I would never stay there again or recommend it to anyone ever !!

This is a long term hotel, which I missed when booking it, not a huge big deal. It has a small kitchenette in it This hotel is pretty shabby and out dated. The chair in our room had the \"pleather\" pulling off of it. I've seen nicer furniture at garage sales. Bed was decent and it was clean. Front staff was friendly

Conveniently located to the highway and to the Eagles Canyon Raceway. Not the newest facility but spacious and in largely good condition. Has a few BBQs and some tables outside which worked well for my group needing to have a space to congregate. Bummed that there was no breakfast included, but otherwise it met my needs for sleeping accommodations.

The hotel itself was very clean & staff was friendly. $25 deposit for “damages” upon arrival not disclosed. Most places simply take a card number, not actually charge you. The room was in poor repair. Chair in the room worn & upholstery had the top layer worn off. Toilet seat was loose & would slide to the side when you sat on it. Didn’t realize until I got in the shower that the bulk hair conditioner & bath soap dispensers were totally empty. Followed refrigerator ice maker instructions…no ice but could hear water run frequently. No idea where it was going. Biggest issue…room air freshener used was awful. These things don’t typically bother me but this was so bad that I had to keep working dow open all night. Won’t book here again mainly because of the “refundable” damage deposit & air freshener.

The room was great with a full size fridge, 2 burner store and microwave. The site had a small store with a few items to choose from if you just needed something quick or a snack.

Check in went pretty well beside they were having computer problems which is out of their control. The room was nice and clean. The beds on the other hand were awful! They were very springy. I could not get comfortable. We had a double queen room and I took the bedding off one bed and made a pallet on the floor. If they undated the mattresses then I would recommend to a friend but as of right now I will not recommend.

We’ve stayed here before and never had an issue. The room we we’re given had a pleather chair in it with the leather coming off in several spots. Kinda trashy. The room was literally 80 degrees, we turned the ac down and both showered got in bed and literally couldn’t take the heat. Checked the thermostat and it was 81! Even with the ac on which wasn’t really blowing cool air at all. Called the front desk and the girl was like “well we just had someone check out of that room today that’s been staying there for a week and hasn’t complained”... well maybe they like the Texas heat but I sure don’t! So she eventually moved us to another. Probably won’t stay here again. Which his sad cause we liked this place the first time we stayed!

Horrible experience! We told the front desk three times that the A/C wasn’t cooling and it wasn’t addressed for our stay of two nights. We were not told that they don’t have housekeeping on the weekends, the excuse was Covid. We recommended this hotel to many friends who were in for the show and they were all disappointed. Never again will we stay here, this was our second year to stay at this location. The Manager was rude and didn’t care at all about our A/C being out. Said that he could do nothing. Beware do not stay here. Also our friends room smelled of smoke.

Room was clean, cozy & perfect for what we needed for the 2 nights we stayed. Hitel very close to the hospital and medical clinics where I had a procedure completed. Bed was comfortable, pillows were soft and the kitchenette had everything we needed to feel right at home. The staff was very nice, helpful, accomidating and professional. Would stay here again if/ when we are ever in the area for any reason.

Candlewood Suites in Decatur Tx.

We are in-between houses, waiting for the new place to close. We've been here a week and just signed on for another week. The staff is wonderful. Always a smile and HI. For a dog friendly place, it is the cleanest I've ever stayed. If they just had an ENCLOSED pet relief area it would be even better. We are staying with our 3 dogs and they can't understand why they always have to be on a leash! We take advantage of the 24/7 free coffee, morning pastries, free laundry. The room is equipped with a small kitchen including refrig, dishwasher, sink, dishes and basic cooking equipment. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an overnight or extended stay. And, the gym seems to be nicely equipped. I haven't gone yet but any day I might!

Mostly clean. The rack in the microphone had not been cleaned. You have to hunt for the ice machine. Second time I’ve stayed there. Noisy both times. First time I had a room by the pool. People were there after hours. Had to call the office twice to get that taken care of. People on the floor above me were loud this time. Thumping and family arguments. Not much sleep but the room was nice.

Overall the hotel was clean and well kept. Two things I did notice was the recliner in our room had some of the leather missing on the left arm rest. The coffee pot was a 12 cup pot but the coffee in the bag was for a 4 cup machine.

The staff however was very pleasant.

Inexpensive, Clean, Dog Friendly

Decatur was a great stop on our way from Houston to Colorado. Much less expensive than staying in Fort Worth or Dallas Had some decent food stops and the amenities you would want when leaving in the morning (gas, starbucks.) Candlewood Suites is a go-to for us because they tend to be decent if not luxurious - dog friendly up to 80 lbs which is a must for us.

This was a very clean property, full size fridge was nice but the ice maker did not work. The only drawback was the perfumed air freshener, some people are allergic to fragrances. Easy to find the property, fast check in, friendly staff. Would stay here again if in the area needing a hotel, this is one of the better hotels in Decatur. Have stayed at several in this area, the Candlewood Suites will be our choice in the future. Please don't stop doing a good job.
