Location is very good. Basic room that gets the job done at a minimal standard. However, relative to other hotels in the area, I would not recommend. It is very loud throughout the night. The windows are thin. The pillows are the thickest I have ever slept on in a hotel. They do not have other types you can swap with. It indicated \"continental breakfast\". That is false, they just provide coffee in the morning

The noise from the window was very extreme. I stayed in two different hotels in the city this trip, and this one was so noisy compared to the other. There was also nothing to stop the window from opening fully, which I thought was required for safety. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. There also was no mini fridge in the room.

Super friendly staff, very clean, small room but it’s expected. You’re in the middle of Manhattan and close to subways and tourist spots like 10 min walk to Madison Square Park, 20 min walk to timesquare, and super close to the Empire State Building! 10/10 will stay here again when I come back!!

The staff was very helpful, the only issue with the staff would be not answering the phone when we tried to call and ask about parking. We called about 5-6 times and the answering machine answered all the times.
The room on the other side was not that good. The bed wasn’t comfortable at all and the whole room smelled like floor cleaner and bleach, even though we checked at around 9pm the smell was overwhelming.
Overall an ok stay.

The room was nicely decorated, high ceiling, comfortable bed and bedding, beautiful bathroom. We were in room 309 towards the back of the building. There was some noise that would travel up the radiator everyday that starts before 6am. It sounded like water hissing but will make aperiodic noises, almost like a really loud espresso machine with the milk steamer on 11. Not sure if that’s the building heating system or something else, but the noise is loud enough to wake you up early in the morning.
The front desk staff was okay, not rude but definitely not warm or that welcoming.
There are lots of hotel options in January, so I would probably stay somewhere else next year.

Overall mediocre. Room seems and feels old in general. Strictly accepts only credit card, no cash. Heater makes a lot of noise and is visually disruptive. Staffs are kind and room was clean. TV with Netflix was nice. Can hear outside(hallway) noise from the room very well.

My room was clean and cozy, perfect for the short stay i had in the city. A cool bar that I kept seeing visitors stop in for a drink or just pics of the atmosphere. I will definitely etly have it as an option for upcoming visits. The only reason why it's not a 5 star rating is because my TV would dim to a darker color making it hard to see. I was unable to brighten it.

Great spot. Slow elevators, but that’s like a lot of the hotels in New York. Good-ranked Mediterranean food on the ground floor, but the club music is a bit much. If you’re on the second level, it resonates. The bathroom wall made a loud banging sound that reverberated throughout the entire room. It shared a wall with the elevator. This is the biggest complaint. At 300+ a night, not disclosing this is shady. The shower was great and recently redone. Endless warm water, so that was great. Came across a drunk guy lying down in the hall on the fifth night…not sure who he was, but that wasn’t great—again, it’s New York, and I’ve seen worse. Maybe check keycards or have a security protocol. I’m super tolerant, but the cons would be no-goes for many, I'm guessing.

The only highlight is the location. Room is okay, the worst is their staff, especially their female hotel manager. Been in so many hotel and never seen such staff that works in a hotel & service industry that can treat a client with such bad attitude, even showing arrogance and negligence facial expression to my face. Her attitude 100% affected our mood and overall review of the stay. Will never choose this hotel again.

Perfect location (NOMAD) for a Christmas trip to NYC. Boutique hotel that was well worth the money and reasonably priced for the city. Great restaurant onsite ZOI Mediterranean food. A bit pricy but really good food and drinks.

My door lock was broken. No one would help me, someone came up and told me not to worry about it. The front desk wouldn’t move me to another room. I felt unsafe the entire time. I ended up putting the desk and chair in front of the door. It’s unacceptable.

Very clean. Staff were nice and helpful. We had the deluxe king with futon and it was plenty of room for a family of 4. The only thing that I would have changed was having our room directly above the restaurant. People outside the door were extremely loud and you could hear the music fairly loud coming from the speakeasy under the restaurant. We just turned our sound machine up louder! The beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. Would definitely stay again.

Great location, stayed here for 5 days. 5-minute walk to the subway and Empire State Building. Rooms were a very decent size, quite an old building so rooms were quite cold, but the heater in the room solved that. The housekeepers were awfully friendly, but the receptionists were quite cold. Expect $100+ extra for taxes etc at check-in. There is free tea and coffee in the mornings but we were only given 3 vouchers for our 4 mornings. The barista in the morning was so rude, on her phone voice noting with earphones in as we were standing waiting to be served, not even a hello.

Rooms were clean, a bit dusty. Beds were extremely comfy and large! Expect minimal amenities in the room. No access to the TV channels. Lifts were extremely slow, expect to wait 3-5 minutes in when going up to the room.

Overall, a very basic 4-star hotel. Did the job as we only spent a small amount of time in the room.

One of my favorite places I’ve stayed in New York. The area is perfect - close enough to anything without being in an obnoxious part of the city. Hotel was clean and the rooms were cozy - it isn’t overly fancy, but the building is gorgeous, the dining area is great, and the rooms are nice. I love the history of the building, and that it hasn’t been refinished to look soulless. A fire alarm went off the last night we stayed, and the staff was efficient at getting everyone cleared out and taken care of, then back into the hotel as soon as everything was cleared by FDNY. When we arrived we asked for something (I forget what now - a steamer I think), and they immediately came to the room with it, as well as offering slippers and robes, etc). On my most recent trip to NY, the hotel was booked or I would have gone back without hesitation.

I had an excellent stay at the Life Hotel. The building has great character, the rooms are clean, stylish, and surprisingly spacious for New York. The location is perfect — right in Midtown with everything within easy reach, yet still quiet inside. Staff were friendly, helpful, and made the whole experience feel effortless. A brilliant hotel and one I’ll definitely return to.

When I checked in and went to my room, it had not been cleaned by housekeeping. They moved me to another room on the second floor which was noisy throughout the night from the music played below so I experienced very little sleep throughout the stay. I asked twice to be moved. The first time I was told to ask the following morning and the second time I was told I could move to a smaller room if I wanted. Overall a very bad experience and frustrating to have a total lack of sleep during a trip for important business meetings.

The concierge let us check in early and was very friendly when we first walked in the door. All the other staff from the restaurant, the bar, maintenance, etc. were also very welcoming and kind. The room was clean and anytime we asked for more towels or more toilet paper (4 girls in one room), they immediately fulfilled our request! The atmosphere downstairs was great at night and staying in the room was really quiet. I would definitely recommend staying here!

My whole experice was awesome, I had to modify my stay due to a death in the family. My check in was on my birthday, staff was great, made my stay a wonderful & great experience. They helped me with making the changes to my reservation along with hotels.com agent. From hotel check in to my check out, it was awesome. Christopher & the day shift manager (sorry, I forgot her name), the valet who handled my luggage & brought up the fridge to my room. I'm planning to stay here again when i return to NY.
