Pictures are a little better than reality. Lots of little upkeep needs, and a lot of mildew and water damage. The bathroom really needs a vent to dry things out and prevent so much water-related issues. In the first room I had, water was coming in like a slow waterfall in the main room along an entire wall, dripping above the bed.

Not good. Horrible smell, staff not friendly, asked if they could change the room and forced to pay for upgrade. Expedia also could not convince the hotel for the upgrade as what they advertised is not what you get. They didn't even want to refund. Renovation going on. There are many other good places you can get less than their rate. Beware booking unless if want to be stuck with awful place in middle of a small island. Highly not recommended!

Location, location, location! Was up every morning for sunrise. Always seemed to end up at hotel restaurant for my meals. Staff super helpful on anything I needed. Snorkeling boats anchored on beach so not ideal for swimming but very clean. Five minute walk to great swim and snorkeling beaches.

Nice, but some issues.

It was a nice hotel BUT what anyone failed to mention was the beach it’s 100m away from is unusable!! We didn’t swim in a beach once in Gili Air because they were so far away and claimed by other hotels.
Our room had a semi-open shower and bathroom which meant that when it rained (almost the whole time) our bathroom was flooded and covered in a spray of water. By the end of the trip we asked for a bucket and in one day we emptied it 5 times. They really need to look at the drainage in the rooms.
That being said, I loved the pool, the location was beautiful, and I had a relaxing time.

GREAT HOTEL..AWFUL PONY ABUSE BY OVERLOADING TOURI

The hotel is lovely. Needs a few hooks and shelves in room, but only small tweaks needed. Staff work hard to please. Breakfast fills the hunger, orange squash not juice. Tea and coffe awful.
Our real gripe was the abuse to the ponies. ONLY TWO PASSENGERS AND LUGGAGE!!! The drivers load 4 or more heavy tourists and cases plus driver and force child’s sized ponies to pull these overloaded crude carts. They work 12 hour days, little shelter from hot sun, sores and open wounds under collars and over-tight girth’s under bellies . When too many people climb in, makes cart lift pony up as only 2 wheels. Avoid cocky young drivers who show off and cause most pain. They beat most and yank mouths backwards. Spoiled our stay.

Lovely hotel with restaurant viewing the sea

The hotel is near to the ferry port where easily walk about 5 mins away. There were no cars on the island.
Their restaurant provided nice food including bbq buffet, also nice breakfast buffet. You can seat with nice sea view. The staff were very friendly.
Our bedroom is nice comfortable room but the bathroom is quite small. Our balcony has a view of a swimming pool.
We can recommend that hotel to everyone. I see the buildings in the island were mostly hand built because there were no transport, so I am impressed with our hotel.

I only stayed one night in this hotel. The service at reception is friendly. It is good to sit and have an included cooked breakfast, or have lunch right next to water and all the activity at the harbour. The swimming pool is nice and clean and has a grass area near it, and it didn't feel too crowded. My room was nice, big and clean and overlooked the swimming pool.

I heard some noise of kids playing and slamming doors in the room next to me, but when it got late at night, I knocked gently on the wall to let them know they needed to be more quiet, and they did kindly respond, so I was able to sleep fine. I could when I woke up in the morning hear the breathing of the person in the next room, so I suspect the noise insulation between rooms is not great. The water pressure is not great either and I struggled to get any hot water out of the shower, but given the hot climate and that fact that I was staying only one night, I didn't mind too much.

Overall it is a good hotel for the price. If I were to stay many nights thoughts I would try to make sure that I Have hot water.

Nice place that was clean and well kept, breakfast buffet was okay. Too many families (kids) making it a bit noisy. No beach near by, but 15 minutes walk in either direction gets you to one, and right in the middle of the entire southern restaurant strip and busy area. No water pressure in upstairs room shower.

Close to the beach and a short walk to the ferry terminal. The staff are super friendly and there is a good pool. Breakfast was included, and while freshly cooked omelettes and pancakes were welcome, it could be improved. The restaurant which borders the sea shore has a lovely moving view of the boats, and the food is good quality!

Location is a winner!

Convenient location just a short walk from the jetty so it was easy to walk over with our luggage. The area around the hotel is quiet & relaxing, but 3 mins away from bars on the west coast where you can watch the sunset on the beach, and about 10 mins walk to the more lively east coast of Gili Island. Rent a bicycle to get around a little faster.

We stayed in a Standard Room which was pretty average and had no view. It could do with a fresh coat of paint. There was no fridge or hairdryer in the room, and only one power outlet. Breakfast is provided but is very basic, I would suggest going elsewhere for a more interesting breakfast.

The hotel staff are extremely courteous!

Quiet expensive for the conditions of the hotel

Never book deluxe room, not worth it because the only difference with the superior is that is a little bit bigger. They dont change the towels every day, not even the clothes for the beds. Cleaning is poor. We arrived there to spend a couple of nights and they didnt even fill the soap cointainer for the shower. They wanted to give us a very bad matress do we had to complain to get a better one. Such a shame because the staff is extremely nice and they try to do their best but with the limitations of the management team

We had a standard room, which in places was a bit tired aesthetically, but perfectly clean with a great bed, th and fridge (and good working aircon - essential!)

Location was superb right next to the port so not far to carry your bags, and about 5 mins walk to south east beach or south west beach where all the bars / restaurants are.

Compared to other places we saw this place seems the best value by far. You can pay a bit more for a deluxe room, which I think is a bit bigger and more touched up aesthetically, but essentially the same.

The pool area is great and you can order food drink etc by the pool or to your room.

Breakfast also great - best variety on our whole trip to Bali / Gili

Loved our 3 night stay, relaxing, spent hours in the pool which was great for young kids and in a garden setting, coconut palms, hibiscus. Comfortable premium room with garden view and good aircon. Hotel close to shops, wharf and supplies. Good, cheap food at the restaurant with pleasant balcony view with really nice staff. Enjoyed a walk around the island and the beautiful warm turquoise water. Asked to take a horse and cart ride around the island but wasn't taken where we asked, bit ripped off?

Ok hotel, great location

Location is prime for snorkelling and seeing the turtles, close to the bars and restaurants in the evening and the harbour. While the room had everything you needed, I did end up with some suspicious bites after sleeping in the beds. We had seen previous reviews of bed bugs so checked thoroughly before heading to bed so I cannot say for certain what they were but just a word of caution there. Overall an ok hotel but weighed up with a great location for everything.

What a great place!

We loved Villa Karang. We were upgraded to a suite ( don't know why) and it was lovely. Stayed five nights. Nice variety of breakfast foods ( included in the price). Pool was beautiful. Located just to the west of where our fast boat dropped us off. We rented bicycles
at a modest price to get to swimming/ snorkeling areas ( on east side of island). Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

This hotel was a really good choice on Gili Air. It's very close to the jetty and is one of the better hotels on Gili Air. We had a deluxe room which I couldn't really fault. Breakfast buffet was a bit limited but you are on an island.

Honeymoon trip to the paradise of Gili Air

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon trip to Indonesia. To start off, Gili Air is an absolute paradise. Clean, white sandy beaches and a whole host of bars and restaurants. Nice vibe too, very relaxed. I would recommend hiring a bike and cycling through the centre of the island too.

The hotel staff were great and we were treated to a free honeymoon cake and flowers on the bed and an ocean view room! It was amazing! The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome! Thank you for a great stay!

Remember when average meant ...... average? This hotel is average; room accommodation is quite good, decent size rooms, beds and bathroom all working well. Staff are all extremely friendly and willing to help with anything. Breakfast was very average buffet, very samey each day. Swimming Pool and poolside was very clean and welcoming when you wanted some pool time, with drinks and snacks available. Overall it was looking a little tired and probably needs some attention soon to keep up with the many alternatives being developed.

Its a hotel unlike all others on the island,the majority is kind of bed and breakfast for backpackers and this hotel is a good place to stay for several days and relax.the room is nice not like in a hostel, it's clean,good bed,clean towels e.t.c.breakfasts are not bad as well. Far from the central beach but as the island is small it takes just 7 minutes to get there.

I stayed in Villa Karang Hotel for couple of days during my trip to Gili air. The location of the hotel was 3min walk from the harbour. Long story short, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room was very clean and had a superb aircon, and the pool was amazing. I highly recommend this place.

Godt hotel. Dog kunne rengøring godt gå lidt bedre. Der var bl.a. spindelvæv i hjørnerne og pletter på lagen, dyne- og pudebetræk samt håndklæderne.
Personalet var søde, der var udendørs bio hver aften og rigtig god lokation lige ud til stranden.

Generell ein sehr gutes Hotel, die Lage war perfekt, die Zimmer gut ausgestattet und der Pool war sehr schön. Das Hotel bietet quasi direkte Strandnähe. Wir haben für die Sauberkeit einen Punkt abgezogen, da die Bettlaken fleckig waren unscharf gab leider für unser empfinden 1 Handtuch zu wenig auf dem Zimmer. Ansonsten ist das Hotel absolut zu empfehlen! Alles ist fussläufig zu erreichen und die Anlage ist top gepflegt.

El hotel es muy bonito, acogedor y muy bien ubicado en primera linea cerca del puerto.
Agradecer a Karim su amabilidad y servicio.

Visserligen är hotellet inte nytt, men ligger bra till på ön och rummen var välskötta. Barnen gillade poolområdet och personalen var väldigt tillmötesgående. Jag rekommenderar varmt Villa Katanga och dess personal.

Belle et grand établissement personnel trop sympa et attentionné mais techniquement nous il y avait eu un dégât des eaux dans la SdB jamais réparé coulures encore présentes plafonds dégradés nettoyage minimum longtemps que pas eu de gros nettoyage poussé. Parterres de plantes plein de papiers...mais allees ratissées. Nous tant le lit est d aplomb on s en fojt un peu on est tout le temps dehors sur une ile....mais complexe vieillissant

Sympathique petit hôtel proche du port et des commodités.
Les chambres et la piscine sont très biens, le petit déjeuner le long de la mer paisible. Il n’y a pas d’accès direct à la plage il faut un peu marcher et se poser dans un autre hôtel ou un restaurant pour profiter de la plage

Rent hotell!

Ett väldigt mysigt hotell, rent och fint. Superbra service på hotellet. Dock så saknar vi pool och frukostbuffé. Till frukost så ingick det att välja fritt från menyn, men endast 1 dryck och 1 ”sak”. Vi beställde självklart in mer och betalade då vi gärna vill ha juice, kaffe, och kanske både smörgås och frukt. Så egentligen hade vi kunnat gå någon annanstans och köpa ett helt ”set menu” till frukost som hade blivit billigare än på hotellet. Kanske något att tänka på för framtida gäster. Men annars är vi nöjda. Nära till stranden... Men en pool hade dragit upp betyget mer!

Ett enkelt hotell med det man behöver, AC, gratis vattenflaskor, vattenkokare och tv. Väldigt vänlig personal, tillmötesgående och trevliga. Rena rum, badrumstaket var dessvärre inte lika rent. Kan delvis bero på att halva badrummet är ”utomhus” med ett nät som tak. Kan absolut tänka mig att bo här igen. Kanske 7 min gångpromenad från hamnen.

Var ett helt ok hotell att bo på. Nära till hamn och matställen. Härligt att promenera runt ön innan morgondoppet. Nackdel: ingen strand vid hotellet så man fick gå en bit för att hitta solstol och parasoll.

Mixed feelings

On the first day we were really happy with everything.Helpfull personell, nice room and the pool. On the second day our good impressions deteriorated. Because of the plumbing problems we were forced to change the room, and we got a \"deluxe\" room. We were really unhappy with it -but the personell could not find us a different one since they were full booked. But we could not blame them, and they did a really food job. On the other side we cannot say we were satisfied with the restaurant. The breakfast was not that good, and neither were other things we ordered. We got also annoyed by a guy working there, since he oversaw us for good 10-15 mins and served only the girls in bikinis (who came after us).

いつも安宿に泊まるのですが、私達夫婦には滅多にない高級ホテルでした。とは言え 2泊で¥8000前後なのですが、凄くいいホテルでした。朝食がビッフェスタイルで海を見て味も凄く美味しく 2泊で内容も違い大満足です！
ハーバーからも近くおススメです！

Nice location

In general this was a great stay, nice location and surroundings. If you good breakfast admirer than you might be slightly disappointed. Anyway you can choose to have a good breakfast anywhere else.
We had a small leak in toilet but on request it was fixed. Staff is very responsive.

Prisvärt \"fin-hotell\" med bra läge.

Bra läge nära båtbryggan och de fina restaurangerna att sitta på vid solnedgången. Jag tog ett premiumrum och det var toppenfint. Poolområdet är fint. Mycket bra upplevelse. Kan verkligen rekommendera. Prisvärt. Vill tillägga att jag aldrig åt maten på hotellet som om den kan jag inte uttala mig.

We stayed at Villa Karang for 5 nights. Our room was very confortable and had everything we needed. A balcony with a view to the pool was nice too. The staff at Villa Karang was very friendly and were always ready to help whenever needed. The buffet breakfast was good and versatile. All in all we were very satisfied with Villa Karang.

Na gili t en gili m was het tijd voor gili air. Het hotel ligt bijna aan de haven waardoor het eigenlijk geen strand heeft. Wel is er een zwembad met wat ligstoeltjes. Alleen is er weinig schaduw bij het zwembad. De kamer is netjes en ruim. Alleen loop je het stof van buiten zo naar binnen. Het heeft een zoutwater douche wat voor een kort verblijf niet hinderlijk is. Het ontbijt is zeer rommelig maar wel ok. Er was geen kinderstoel aanwezig.

Vi kom tillbaka hit

Stannade här två nätter men kom tillbaka för att det var så bra. Trevligt bemötande av personalen, bra mat, bra läge, mysiga rum och man får mycket för priset! Bra pool och solsängar. Dåligt wi-fi:/

Fint hotell, inte så långt från hamnen. Ganska hårda sängar och exrtasängen hade inget riktigt täcke. Frågade om ett men det fanns tydligen inte ett extra täcke på hela hotellet..?? Restaurangen hade väl inte den godaste maten, bad man om något extra eller tog bort något så fick man ändå fel. Tex fil istället för majonnäs osv. Duschen var en sån som sitter fast på väggen, vår var vinklad så den spruta mer på väggen än ner på kroppen så väldigt svårt att duscha. Det är även saltvattendusch.. Finns ingen riktig strand nedanför hotellet utan man måste gå en bra bit bort mot Scallywags. Där finns solstolar och toppenbra mat!
