The hotel was in a beautiful location but not conveniently located to the Cefalù downtown. The shuttles they offer do not run during ‘off season,’ the children’s playground was not open/available, the food is very limited and the dinner quality was not what one would expect (especially for the price). Pia, the pool bar staffer, was exceptional. They single handedly made our kiddos stay!

Looks Lovely but Very Disappointing

Rooftop room was lovely (compared to the rest) and hotel was clean. Shower was lovely and view from balcony great.

Service was poor. Awful even. Hotel completley out the way of a shop, bar, resturant (miles away)....you need a car.

Beach?? What beach?? Tried asking reception after walking round looking for it only to find out it's all private roads ....... Reception couldn't tell us. They just didn't care. So didn't see the beach.

Breakfast was lovely but a little manic with everyone scrambling around.

Pool is not what it looks like on website. Just a small square surrounded by brick wall.

Tennis court was good. Parking was spot on.

Would I go back?? No! If it had things around it and better service then yes.

Nice hotel and convenient location

We stayed for 4 nights. The rooms were very clean and had a balcony. Breakfast was ample with several good choices. The beach close to the hotel is rocky and not nice for swimming. We had a nice dinner as well. The location is perfect for visiting Monreale or Cefalu. We went several times to the beautiful sandy beach of Cefalu which had plenty of parking options. It’s also a cute city with really good restaurants

Very nice hotel & property about 5 km and not too far from town. Excellent staff/customer service and food was fantastic! It is location a short ride to the beach which is a private and quiet little enclave. The only thing we really didn’t like was that the beds were rock hard and very uncomfortable which did not allow for a good nights sleep but besides that, it was a nice little stay which also included live music on the patio adjacent the pool area. The staff in the restaurant were lots of fun and provided great customer service! Thank you

Hotel Baia Del Capitano is a very well run Hotel 2-3 mile from Cefalu.
The room was spacious and the beds were large (Both myself and my wife are 6ft).
The hotel runs a number of shuttle busses throughout the day to Cefalu for the Hotel guests.
The Beach near the Hotel sits in a rocky bay approx 300m wide with ample swimming and snorkelling opportunities to see a large number of fish. The hotel has its own private area offering sun loungers and parasols on the sandy beach, at no further cost. The beach restaurant is well run and offers a good range of food and drink.
The beach is approx 500m from the hotel, but the hotel offers a tut tut service to the beach which is fun.
The food and drink offered at the hotel is of a very high standard.

Pool v small and almost walled in. Not enough deck chairs. Hotel noisy, you could hear people above you when they walked around. Staff friendly. The room was ok but all a bit worn and tired. It’s about 10 min walk to the beach. Breakfast ok but a bit of a shambles with lots of people scrabbling for food at buffet. We had one evening meal which was way below average. I had 3 vegetable skewers, vegetables barely cooked and tasteless: a bad deal at 18 euros! And you’d need a car, the hotel is quite cut off from any bars or restaurants. All in all a little disappointing!

A very comfortable hotel about a 7-10 minute drive from Cefalu. The beach is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The breakfast was great. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel, but the menu looked good, and the restaurant looked lively. The WiFi was a bit spotty in our room, but was better in the common areas.

A nice resort property but a little out of the way

The Hotel Baia del Capitano was a nice resort style property outside of Cefalu.
The staff was very friendly and very nice. The other guests were largely German tourists.
The location was a bit away from Cefalu. There was a complimentary shuttle at scheduled times but returning outside the scheduled time was a 15 Euro cab ride back. There was not a lot around the property except private homes. The 'sand' beach was about a kilometer away and the beach chair set up was nice but tight. The sand gave way to rocks just under the water. The pool was nice and well kept and the barstaff at the pool was pleasant and friendly. The breakfast was fine and the breakfast staff was pleasant and efficient.
If your idea of vacation is drinking by the pool or laying by the beach it is a pleasant property. If you want to explore Cefalu more you might try a hotel in town.

The title explains all! Very disappointed, public areas were fine but our room was a dark box and bed not at all confortable. The pool area was adequate but yet again there was music playing so loud you couldn't read. The hotels only redeeming feature was its restaurant where the food was excellent if expensive.

Pros: -The pool and reception areas of the hotel are lovely.
-The free transfer between the town and hotel is a nice touch as the hotel is about 15 mins drive from the station.
-Very friendly staff
-A good spread at breakfast

Cons:
-The basic room was purely unacceptable. It was dirty, dark and stank of sewage. We had to complain several times to get a different room.
-The restaurant is very expensive and there aren't many restaurant choices around the hotel.
-Unexpected/ too high charges- we requested a small birthday cake for two. Although, this had been given gratis at other hotels, we wouldn't have minded paying. However, we were told that they would be happy to, without mention of a price. When the cake arrived, it was huge. The staff expected some of the cake and they ended taking most of it, even though we offered only a little. We were then charged 20 euros at check out. Although not a huge amount, it would have been nice to know when requesting the cake and we didn't even get to eat/take most of it with us as the staff ate it.
-The wifi kept cutting out.

Overall, it's a nice hotel but definitely on the lower end of 4 star.

Great Breakfast!

Great hotel, only stayed one night and wish we had had longer here. Lovely food, characterful room and really appreciated the shaded parking in the unusually hot late September weather. Bit of a strange drive down to the hotel but its definately worth it.

Nice hotel a little out of the way

A nice hotel but situated about 5km out of Cefalù and it's all main roads so you have to drive.
The hotel has all the normal amenities and has a big car park for those requiring parking.
Breakfast was brilliant but dinner less so, I'd advise going in to Cefalù for the evening.
All in all a good base as long as you have a car.

A little difficult to find especially coming directly off a 9 hour plane ride. But definitely worth finding. Front desk staff was extremely helpful with directions and making our stay comfortable. Room was very clean, enjoyed sitting by the pool and dinner under the olive trees was special.

I'm going to start with 3 small things that are not really moans but I think people should be aware of. 1) My 6ft frame found it hard to fit in my shower but I managed. 2) at breakfast it took an overly long time to get coffee as it was from a single machine. 3) The pool was just a little too small that you felt bad going in if kids were playing as it would disturb them and you could see parents felt anxious their kids may be in adults way. Other than these tiny things I loved this hotel. The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable. The staff were fantastic and incredibly helpful. The parking was ample. The fact they offered a shuttle service to the beach (even though it was a short walk) as well as an area with sun loungers for the hotel guests was wonderful. The beach itself was beautiful; really sandy where the tide never fully comes in so you can spend as long as you need there and a long low shelf in the sea so crystal clear, warm water that families can feel very safe in. If you have a car there is a supermarket not far in the other direction from Cefalu too. Very highly recommended.

Great Stay

The greeting at reception was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable with a balcony overlooking the pool and some sea view. Access to the beach was well explained as it requires a five minute walk. The hotel provides access to lounge chairs and umbreallas on the beach. The buffet breakfast was reasonably good. Dinner was set up in a small grove of olive trees - a beautiful candlelit setting with live music/entertainment. Parking was very good.

The good:

Lovely, clean pool
Beach within walking distance with loungers and sun umbrellas
Friendly, helpful staff
Good choice of options at breakfast (fruit, eggs, toast, pastries, yoghurt, cereal, even cake)
Good food at dinner in lovely al fresco setting

The slightly less good:

Small shower (but very powerful and water is hot)
15 minute drive to central Cefalu - fine if you have a car, but don't rely on the buses - they usually come, but not on time.
Pool is small, not good for lengths, but there is always the sea

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would visit again (though I would rent a car to see more of the island and get to Cefalu / Palermo more easily).

Not what it's cracked up to be

The shower was so small I had a hard time getting into it. Drop the soap? Get out of the shower and get it. Ridiculous. I couldn't turn around. Internet only in the lobby, not the room. Major inconvenience. The beach is 1/2 Km away, down a very steep hill, and they make you pay for a beach towel. Only one socket in the room, so I had to decide...lights on or recharge my iphone. The place is so out of they way, the GPS was confused. It is way overpriced.

Idyllic retreat

This hotel is some distance from the town on a beautiful headland. It's a bit of a walk down to the beach, which has deckchairs provided. There are a variety of outdoor places round the hotel to enjoy; gardens front and back, a restaurant in an olive grove, a very nice pool with bar adjacent and a roof terrace with stunning views across the bay. We stayed in rooms a short distance from the main building, having slightly the feel of holiday cabins, though quite well equipped. Lighting was poor and air conditioning draughty. Staff were helpful. The bus into town was infrequent, and for those with luggage, taxis to and from the station were necessary.

Nice place for a weekend getaway

We only stayed one night at this hotel. It was clean and comforyanle with surprisingly good service. The pool was still too cold to swim and the beach is very rocky. I think they import sand. The hotel is west of Cefalu but it was very quiet at night.

Fantastic Hotel

My partner & I, travelling with our 16 month old son, stayed for 2 nights. The room we had was very big, comfortable bed, Jacuzzi bath and balcony overlooking the pool. Plenty of parking, playground for kids, the pool was good and if it gets too hot you could have your beer under the olive trees behind the pool. Really pretty & high spec hotel. Good food in the restaurant and the breakfast was the best of all the hotels we stayed in during this trip.
The staff were very friendly and made such a fuss over our son. We felt very special during our stay. We would defiantly return. Regarding price, we couldn't believe how much we got from our stay with a price that was no more expensive than any other hotel on this trip; especially when the other hotels were of a lower star rating. On star ratings, I am always skeptical of star ratings in Italy. We stayed in 3 stars on this trip that would barely meet 2 star in Ireland. This hotel offering was 4 star plus in my view.
The only down side is the location. You are well outside the town of Cefalu and will need a car. That wasn’t a problem for us. It was also a little difficult to find. The sat nav couldn’t find it but it was well sign posted when we found the general location.

Reception staff were very friendly but the hotel has quite a few problems - the telephone in my room was out of order and took 2 days to fix; staff were unaware that the (essential) bus service into town had relocated its stop - making me miss connections; breakfast lunch and dinner were definitely quite poor. This is potentially a good hotel if and when they tighten up their act which at least out of season is currently below par.

Hotel Baia del Capitano--KAPUT

There were four things that made our five day stay at this hotel unsatisfactory:
1. The bathroom was too small. Literally if I sat on the toilet my feet were in the shower. The shower was approximately 18\" by 18\", way too small for someone 6' tall.
2. The air conditioning was not working. To avoid heat prostration you had to open the balcony door, but that let in the mosquitos which then feasted on your exposed skin.
3. The dinner menu did not have any prices listed.
4. The address can not be located by a GPS. They need to give location by longitude and latitude if the hotel does not have a specific street address.

Great hotel. Hard to find at first, but once added to GPS no more problems.

The hotel was great. The private beach turned out to be a roped off area on a public beach. The beach had a lot of rocks so I would recommend water shoes. The hotel had an outstanding lunch and breakfast on site. We did not try dinner, but I would bet it is top quality as well. We will return to this hotel the next time we go to Cefalu. The staff was very professional at all times. It was well worth the money.

Hotel Baia del Capitano a good quality hotel.

Upside, very clean and delicious, reasonably priced meals. Staff very good, everything we needed. Weather in late September/ early October very good - it was sunnier than the other areas on the island. Cefalu is delightful.
Downside, a distance of 500 metres to the beach and definately need a car to get into Cefalu and around.

Cefalu Hotel Baia Del Capitano

The Mazzoforno locality is very pleasant and there is a private beach within easy walking distance of the hotel. However there are no restaurants or shops nearby and Cefalu is not within walking distance. Cefalu is charming.
The hotel itself is lovely especially the poolside and outside seating area (although the pool is quite small). There is also a lovely park area for small children and a tennis court but we were charged for using this. We stayed half board for 6 nights and the evening meals were disappointing although eating outside in the olive grove was lovely and the waiters were all very friendly. However at times the reception staff could have been more friendly.

Nice hotel....but a little isolated.

Have just returned from our trip, the only disavantage we found was that it was difficult to access the town of Cefalu unless you drove. The hotel was pleasant and staff helpful, did find it hard to communicate at times has there was limited English spoken. We were a little disappointed that there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, being English we do like our tea. The food was fantastic, we ate at the hotel restaurant on four evenings and the food was of a high standard. We did hire a car but found it hard to find the beauty of Sicily, if we were to return we would go on excursions instead.

Would recommend it.

Having arrived too late to go out for dinner, we decided to eat at the hotel, I am very glad that we did, the food and the service were excellenr, so we ate there several times more during the holiday. Everyone was extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay very comfortable. Would love to go back.

The Baia del Capitano hotel was a very nice hotel with great beach facilities. The sandy beach is nice and clean. For the more adventurous, the rocky beach is spectacular! Make sure you take a stroll on the 3rd floor terrace at the hotel. The view at sunset is really beautiful.

Kjempe dårlig! Frokosten veldig kjip og kjedelig. Kjøpte lunsj en gang på hotellet, sendt rett i retur, kan ikke kalle det der pasta i Italia, skam. Hold dere unna maten!
Hotellet er veldig gammeldags, men jeg vi si rent. Rengjørings personellet er super hyggelig, brettet pysj som en blomst, og gjorde en bra jobb. Servitøren(dame), veldig sur og ubehagelig. Resepsjon, hjelpsom helt ok. TukTuk mannen var også døds kul

Das Hotel ist schön gelegen und Zimmer und Aussicht aufs Meer sind ausserordentlich.
Die Freundlichkeit des Frühstückspersonals liess teilweise zu wünschen übrig. (Kein gutes Zeichen, wenn die Kellner lauter sind als die Gäste).
Auch wenn die Saison offiziell zu Ende ist, könnte man am Strand und am Pool mindestens einige Sonnenschirme erwarten. Der „angebotene“ Shuttle zum Strand war nicht existent.

Hotel in posizione tranquilla a 300 metri da una splendida insenatura facilmente raggiungibile con una passeggiata o attraverso un servizio di navetta offerto dall'Hotel. Camere di dimensioni accettabili e molto pulite.
Colazione buona anche se migliorabile (qualche biscotto non guasterebbe). Personale educato e gentile. Il ristorante ha una buona qualità.

Ottimo hotel in zona Mazzaforno

Hotel in ottima posizione per godere del mare di Mazzaforno (tra i migliori di Cefalù), staff gentilissimo. Camera spaziosa e pulita, colazione ottima. Comodo anche per parcheggiare un auto e per raggiungere la spiaggia (a piedi o accompagnati dallo staff), dove si trovano ombrelloni e lettini riservati. Assolutamente raccomandato, tornerò sicuramente.

Fint hotell som ligger utanför Cefalu. Vill man inte äta på hotellet var det Cefalu som gällde men då krävs bil eller taxi. Hotellet har shuttle service till stan men det var för tidigt och du fick själv fixa taxi hem. Stranden var mycket stenig så glöm inte badskorna. Vi hade ett standardrum med mycket hårda sängar. Balkongen var mycket liten så att det gick inte att sitta på den. Väldigt svag aircondition.

L hotel è tranquillo. Cefalù facilmente raggiungibile traffico del week end permettendo

Fine settimana a Cefalu

Esperienza molto positiva: sono stati molto gentili (aiutandoci anche a festeggiare il compleanno di nostra figlia) ed erano preparati per la nostra intolleranza al glutine. La colazione era molto variata anche per noi! L'hotel e' molto pulito, le camere comode. Ci ritornerei

L’établissement est situé dans un très beau cadre. L’environnement est paisible.
Les chambres sont faites tous les jours.
Le point à revoir serait la climatisation qui faisait du bruit dans notre chambre et la température de la douche reste peu élevée

Sehr freundliches Personal. Zwar war um 15 Uhr als wir ankahmen, das Zimmer nicht bereit. Wir wurden aber im Garten mit Kaffee und Getränken bedient.
Frühstück für italienische Verhältnisse super.
Erwähnenswert ist, dass der Zimmerservice nicht nur das Zimmer tadellos reinigt, sondern auch unsere Kleider sauber zusammenlegt und auf Stuhl oder Kommode deponiert - Danke
Etwas Mühe hatten wir mit dem Essenangebot am Abend. Die Speisekarte ist für uns doch etwas seltsam zusammengestellt. Salat Caprese oder eine Suppe z.B als Hauptgang. Gut---das ist Geschmacksache. Wohlbemerkt: Das Essen war super fein gekocht

10 Minuten Fußweg zu einem sehr schönen kleinen Strand. Positiv: Liegen und Sonnenschirme wurden vom Hotel dort gestellt -kostenlos !

Allgemein waren wir mit dem Hotelaufenthalt zufrieden. Reichhaltiges Frühstückbuffet (für italienische Verhältnisse) und sauberes Zimmer in relativ angenehmer Grösse. Das Servicepersonal hingegen hätte zu Beginn der Saison (waren Mitte April dort), etwas freundlicher und mit einem Lächeln durch die Gegend servieren können. Ansonsten ist das Hotel weiterzuempfehlen.

Gutes Hotel für Umgebung von Cefalù

Gutes Hotel um die Umgebung von Cefalù zu erkunden. Mietwagen empfehlenswert.
Frühstück ist top (Randnotiz: nachm Essen gibt es kaum Plastikmüll durch Butterverpackungen u.ä.). Leckere Säfte. Selbst gepresster Orangensaft. Zimmer sind gut. Wir hatten eins mit Terasse mit gutem Ausblick. Hotel ist in einem guten Zustand.

Teleurstellend hotel

Teleurstellend, dit hotel. Zwembad is mooi, maar het hotel ligt nogal ver buiten Cefalu en het strand is nog een eind lopen. Met minder weer word je van dit hotel een beetje depressief. Sfeer is er nogal formeel, niet echt wat voor jonge mensen (met of zonder kinderen). Niet voor herhaling vatbaar.
