This is my 6th stay at Villas do Indico. As always, exceptional from start to finish. The beachfront setting is stunning, the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, and the entire property exudes a sense of calm and rustic charm. The cuisine is outstanding — fresh, beautifully prepared, and consistently delicious. Most impressive of all was the service: every member of staff was attentive, courteous, and went above and beyond to ensure a perfect experience.

This hotel is now semi derelict. We arrived and walked around freely unchallenged. There is one member of staff on site. The gates are closed with a sign 'Beware of the Dogs' and we had to push the gates open. IN the parking lot is the broken down, written off airport transfer car with a wheel that has fallen off; there are heaps of rubbish all around and fire debris; the first villas you see are burnt out shells; other villas are rundown and locked up; the infinity pool which is the centre of this boutique hotel is derelict, a large puddle of algae green water at the bottom; the reception was unmanned and we saw just one forlorn group who like us had been misled by the web. There is one employee on site. The hotel has taken down its website. Given that the hotel owner (based in Portugal) refused refunds, and maintains that the hotel is open - I would term this 'fraudulent misrepresentation' by the owner. He or she knows the state of their hotel and continues to take customers' money and refuse refunds.
The criticism by the way is squarely of the owner, and I am not implying any criticism of Expedia

Last winter's economic travails of Mozambique have clearly taken a toll although I suspect the rot set in much earlier with this hotel.

Villas do Indico was everything I hoped: quiet, relaxed, good food, in a beautiful location. However, you should note that the hotel is 8km from town. I was happy to run/walk along deserted beaches most days to get to town/kite surfing. I then took a ride back. If you are taking rides both ways -- which are charged at around US$20 -- you will run up a substantial transport bill. You have to travel in a 4*4 as the last 3km are unpaved/sand. You can do this cheaper on the back of a motorbike but everyone says it is seriously dangerous.|
I also had a small issue with the Internet connection having to be renewed each day.
Nonetheless, it is a great location if you want peace. Walking north from the hotel is even quieter and more beautiful than going south.
Final tip: I took some 'barefoot' running shoes and they were great on the beach. Take up almost no room in your bag but provide enough protection for running and against razor clams when in the sea -- these are fairly common and can give a bare foot a bad cut when dragged across one.

Villas do Indico is a peaceful beachside haven 7-8kms north of Vilanculo. Luana and the staff were excellent - friendly, attentive & knowledgeable about the area. The rooms were perfect. Well appointed, with comfortable beds, black out curtains, the largest mozzie net we have ever seen! Sitting on the balcony watching the sea at the edge of the property was perfect.

The only slight downside was no warning on Expedia that a 4x4 was essential to access the property. The sand road from the town was challenging & we were thankful we have a high clearance vehicle. This has not put us off visiting again & we will be back!!

Paradise Understood!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Everything was done perfectly. Ana and Luis made sure that the overall guest experience was excellent. Our other host, John, made sure that all of our needs were met.

The property is away from the main city which made it all the more peaceful. When we wanted to go into town John would arrange to get us to the main connection point and would arrange for a Tuk Tuk. The room was perfectly set up with a mosquito net. The value for money was excellent. We highly recommend this place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were excellent. We received a room upgrade which was amazing. We loved the food in the restaurant, especially the grilled prawns!. We were surprised on our last night there with a special romantic dinner. The views are amazing from the property. Highly recommend!

Pretty hotel in tranquil setting

We had a lovely 5 -night stay here. It is on a quiet beach in a picturesque location, though getting to it is a bit of a bumpy ride on a sandy road. However, this did not stop us from doing a number of good activities from the hotel - canoeing, diving, horse riding etc. A pleasantly memorable holiday.

A very relaxing holiday.

Despite our family all being sick during our stay, we enjoyed our time at Villas do Indico very much. George the manager and the waiters Benny, Xavier and John were all super helpful and very patient given our sickness. The rooms were comfortable, the setting beautiful and we will be going back sometime, when hopefully we will be well.

Great Lodge on the Beach in Vilanculos

Jorge immediately called and emailed me to confirm after I booked my reservations. He arranged a ride from the airport. The grounds are beautifully kept. Large pool overlooking the beach. All the staff were very friendly and majority English speaking. Jorge arranged rides, made recommendations for activities, and ensured my stay was comfortable. This lodge is a bit more remote from the town center but I preferred it because it was like a little piece of heaven to yourself. Breakfast was included which was always great - not just bagels or cereal. Dinners were delicious. Jorge also arranged for a boat trip and snorkeling to visit the nearby islands. Highly recommend.

Simple eco-hotel right on the beach

This isn't a sophisticated place but it's charming, has everything you need and is kind to the environment. The chef is amazing and cooks up some truly delicious meals. The location is also off the beaten path so it's very peaceful and serene. The hotel is right on the beach and there are no hills to climb up or down.

Our visit was during the winter; comfortable mornings and evenings and lovely warm afternoons. The property is nice and the ocean view wonderful. But, what makes this place special is the friendly, fun and smart staff (e.g, Benny, Boa, Benilde, Jorge, the skipper, Mauricio, Jeremiah and our friendly helpful room attendant). They \"read\" the needs of each guest and encouraged people to do what ever makes them happy. We had a mixture of activities (snorkeling and market visit) and do nothing but read times. I asked questions about the local food and beverages till the staff was probably going crazy. But, they never let on they were tired of my questions. Be sure to get out and meet local people in the town. Drop some cash to help support local agriculture and craft makers. Many people that own these villas that tourists stay in are foreigners so what you pay for the hotel doesn't do much good to improve the local economy. Get cash directly into locals' hands rather than getting the older rich richer.

Absolutely beautiful setting right on the beach - a bit further out of town than I anticipated, but they were great about helping us get into town to explore. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful... seemed genuinely interested in making sure we were comfortable and enjoyed ourselves. The lodges themselves are comfortable and well kept.

Fairy Tale Vacation

Villas do Indico is about 30 minutes from the little town of Vilanculos. I was picked up at the Airport (not knowing that this shuttle Service will be charged :( that's a minus). It is quite remote. But arriving there was a blast!!! A fantastic beach, a supercool pool close to the beach. You can just sit in the pool al day and contemplate the gorgeous beach and ocean. I received an anti alcoholic colorful cocktail as a welcome!!!! So nice. ALL the staff is superfriendly. They have the best cook in the whole wide world. I ate fish, lobster shrimps, crab every single day.

You can walk forever on the white clean endless beach in both directions. No beach boys who constantly want to see something or themselves.

The rooms are really comfortable with aircon and a big TV Screen. It is quiet. The bathroom is really stylish. I loved it.

Twice there was a life band. All the Hotel guests bought the super colorful and creative blouses, Shirts, Dresses, Pants in the Hotel shop, created by the owner Rita.

If I had a Problem and the Manager, who is at the same time an awesome massagist, wasn\t around, everybody tried to help solve the Problem. The cook, the waiter, the Driver, up to the pool cleaner.

Once I lost my camera and sunglasses at the beach and they helped me try to find it and... found them!!!!

Sometimes communication wasn't optimal and lead to misunderstandings, but all in all everybody is helpful and friendly and Kind. I was alone there and felt soon like in a family

Quiet getaway north of the main resort area

I stayed in the bungalow, which was a round cabin with a thatched roof. the upper half of the front of it was open (with screens), which allowed the air to circulate but wasn't completely private. The bathroom was in a separate building next door. I loved the room, but the real highlight of my stay was the super friendly and helpful staff, the calm and relaxing atmosphere, and the natural beauty of the beach and ocean. Highly recommended!

Very pleasant, the hotel is strategic located near the islands of Bazaruto and Benguerra.

As for confort, the rooms are OK...if you're looking for luxury, look somewhere else. The pool is great though!
Some pieces of equipment are outdated, need repair or to be replaced (beach and pool chairs, etc)

5 star stay in a beautiful place

Was an amazing stay, the service provided by the staff and host was excellent. my first time to mozambique and my partner and i was treated in a real 5 star manner, definitely will be highly recommended to friends and family. the service provided was really excellent, my compliments to the awesome chef, food was awesome, to the owners of the place, you guys have an amazing set up and your staff and services provided was excellent, thank u for the lovely time and a very welcoming stay, will definitely be coming back.

Blissful breakaway

Nice and quiet lodge with an amazing view and extremely helpful and friendly staff. Chef Jeremia was an amazing cook and we had 5 star food every day! The manager, Benial, was very capable and a good host. We loved Benny, the barman - he always made sure that we had a cold drink, even when lying next to the pool. Overall very nice experience. We will definitely recommend Villas do Indico to family and friends. If you want a luxury breakaway, just make sure that you book the deluxe suites and not the bungalows.

Overpriced.Not value for money. Seems that there are different prices for locals and foreighners.Qoute 500 mts for wine and charge 960mts on bill. Rectified after complaint.Hidden costs.According to website ,airport transfers are free where after they charge US$ 60 in non aircoditioned vehicle.

Little piece of paradise BUT...

Excellent location, beautifully situated on almost empty golden sand beach. Fabulous food (especially sea food) but service a bit hit and miss a la 'Fawlty Towers\". Also although the hotel website advertises itself as a 'spa resort' -NO spa exists or spa service offered, NO internet connection available 9also advertissed on website) and although rooms kitted out with super flat screen TV only 4 Portuguese channels available. That said we loved it and had a gorgeous laid back, relaxing, hassle free week - who needs internet or tv?

By the way warning about 4x4 needed to drive there is spot-on - practically through sand dunes.

Fantastic place to stay if you're heading to Vilanculos. You are a bit stuck there as it's a 10km sand road to get there, but that is also a good thing!

Really nice, clean, well kept resort, and we are very glad we stayed there. The only slight issue was you can't drink the tap water so you kind of have to keep buying water from the resort and they only had little 500ml bottles, I think they should have free drinking water as it's not like you can pop to a supermarket to get some. Apart from that though you can't fault the place, the food was excellent as well.

We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Wonderful hotel, out of Vilanculos

We had an amazing stay at Villas do Indico. The rooms were clean, comfortable and private; and the remaining of the resort was peaceful and relaxing. What a rest! Most of all, the owners were extremely helpful and nice, and really did everything possible to ensure that our stay was perfect.
On the downside of things, the resort is 10km out of Vilanculos (which we were not told), down a dirt road that even our low clearance 4x4 couldn't take. Which means you have to rely on the owners to drive you to town (for excursions, schopping etc) and that you have no option but to eat at the restaurant of the resort... where the food is delicious but a bit pricey!

Site magnifique avec vue sur la mer et belle plage. Les chambres sont d’une bonne taille et très bien décorées.
L’hôtel est à 12 Km du centre sur une route de terre nécessitant un 4x4. C’est un bon site pour une retraite isolée mais pas pour faire des activités ou marcher.
Restaurant sur place avec les prix élevés vu le manque d’autres options
Le déjeuner est très bon.

Autre point négatif: le staff travaille plus de 12 heures par jour, c’est le même personnel le matin à 7h et le soir à 22h. Il y a donc de l’abus de main d’œuvre.

Vi tillbringade 8 nätter här och vi hade det bra. Det är rent och fräscht och bra variation på menyn. Dock så ligger stället helt avskilt från all civilisation och jag tycker inte om när man utnyttjar det och tar överpriser på tex. Vatten, öl och en del mat. Det var bra priser på boendet men 40-50% dyrare att äta och dricka om man jämnför med byn. Stället är annars superfint! Vill du ha en lugn oas och inte ha massa liv runt dig så är detta paradiset.

Prachtige plek met zwembad die uitkijkt over de zee. Prima cabin op het camping terrain. Nadelen, boel is slecht onderhouden dus zwembad heeft erg scherpe tegels waar mensen/kinderen zich flink aan snijden. Daarnaast is de qualiteit van het eten erg slecht en te duur voor wat je krijgt, en vaak misten ingredienten uit de gerechten die op de hoek van de straat gewoon verkrijgbaar waren. Was teleurstellend en je betaalde vooralsnog de volle prijs.

Aan te raden voor de locatie, en het vriendelijke personeel. De keuken en staat van het terrein is toe aan renovatie en meer pro-activiteit.

Hôtel agréable, personnel très aimable et à l'écoute de vos besoins. Néanmoins, le prix est certainement un peu élevé par rapport aux prestations et surtout tenez compte du fait que l'hôtel étant isolé et que si vous n'avez pas de voiture,l'hôtel se propose de venir vous cherchez au centre de Vilanculos mais ceci à un certain coût, à savoir 40 dollars aller/retour. Ceci n'étant pas mentionné, il est préférable de le savoir.

Para relaxar e contribuições técnicas

A proposta do hotel é para quem busca relaxamento. A piscina com borda infinita é a grande atração, não obstante os espaços para descansar. É necessário que o hotel informe a real localização no site dos hoteis.com, porque ele está há 10 km do centro e se cobra transfer para locomoção. No site existe a informação que é 3,5km. Uma boa ideia é que eles deveriam oferecer transfer gratuito aos hóspedes para compensar a distância. Ademais, importante o investimento na existência de \"Menu dos serviços de SPA\", visto há ausência deste e pelo que se intitula o hotel. É preciso, também, reformular a diversidade dos itens do café da manhã e o cardápio de bebidas e refeições que, em regra, são 25% a 50% mais caros quando comparados aos principais e melhores restaurantes da cidade. Aos que pretendente fazer os passeios nas ilhas, consultem a metereologia e destinem o melhor dia pra ir à ilha de Bazaruto porque é o melhor passeio.

Vilas do Indico ist eine sehr ansprechende Anlage am Strand, nur wenige Bungalows garantieren individuellen Service, der vom Personal wie von Viktor und Rita, den Betreibern, hervorragend gewährleistet wird.
Zimmer und Restaurantbetrieb sind bestens, das Personal ist immer bemüht Wünsche zu erfüllen und den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm zu gestalten. Insbesondere die Inselausflüge sind auch ein lohnenswertes Erlebnis.
Vilas do Indico sind ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen und die Seele baumeln lassen.

Estadia simpatica

A minha estadia foi simpatica, apesar de ser a época baixa, ter poucos clientes, falta de TV, wifi apenas na zona de restauração e algumas obras em curso. A desfavor a localização do hotel por ser distante 8km de Vilanculos e do aeroporto e terem cobrado os transferes, o que não é usual.
A praia é óptima, as casas são bonitas e com uma boa e bonita decoração.

Hermoso hotel con vistas al mar

Viajé sola a Vilankulos en micro y personal del hotel me fue a buscar. Se encuentra a unos km del pueblo, sobre la playa. Todas las habitaciones tienen vista al mar, con jardines hermosos y bien cuidados. La limpieza de la habitación siempre fue impecable, la cual es súper cómoda (reservé habitación con baño privado), con una hermoso balconcito con vista al mar, con sillón y hamaca. La pileta es excelente, con reposeras a su alrededor y también distribuidas cerca de la arena, en diferentes modelos, todas cómodas. El desayuno es sumamente completo y gustoso. Cuenta con un restaurante con carta que cambian diariamente, toda la comida es riquísima, el chef es increíble. Punto aparte merece el personal del hotel: todos, todos, absolutamente todos son super amables y atentos, con un trato absolutamente personalizado. Sin ninguna duda volvería aquí y lo recomiendo. Para otros presupuestos hay habitaciones con baño compartido y también un sector de camping.
