We only stayed here one nigth to break our stay before traveling to the other side of Kefalonia. It was perfect, just what we were looking for. Rooms are very nice, the place is cool looking, the staff very friendly and the restaurant was very good. The view was relaxing as well. Also there were a few charming little restaurants close by.

I enjoyed my stay at the Leivatho hotel! The staff were all very friendly and we got greeted by a welcome drink which was a nice touch. The pool area was beautiful but the patio did have lots of wasps which was annoying during breakfast and deterred us from trying the restaurant in the evening. The breakfast selection was good and replenished promptly. The hotel is walking distance to a few beaches, tavernas and a great little winery! I highly recommend getting a massage by their massage therapist that comes to your room, she was amazing. Overall it was a wonderful stay :)

Beach nearby is not good. Manager controls air conditioning and large glass windows never allow the room to cool. Breakfast is average. Staff is friendly. Can’t use pool after 8 pm eve though it bothers no one.

Really lovely hotel, but not enough sunbeds

This is a tricky review to write. On the one hand, we loved so much about this hotel. But there was one negative, that maybe sounds trivial but means we wouldn't stay there again: A significant shortage of sun loungers by the pool. If lounging by the pool isn't your thing -then I'd recommend this hotel. But if you do enjoy long lazy pool days - it's not for you. As other reviewers have said, the staff and the owners were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The views are glorious. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. The room was nice, spacious, good shower, comfy bed, fairly quiet. A couple of tiny things in the room could do with an update (the clothes airer on the balcony was hanging off the wall and the bottom shelf of the fridge door appeared to have been broken off - so nowhere to stand my wine bottle up ;). But these were small things and I’m sure if we'd reported them, something would've been sorted. Housekeeping was great - regular fresh towels and Toiletries etc. And they weren't intrusive at all.
But the sun lounger thing was really frustrating - and meant we were always worrying about whether there would be a space for us. And I know quite a few other guests felt the same. Quite often people would be sitting in the bar/restaurant area with their towels waiting for sun loungers to come free. No one was reserving beds and wondering off - guests were very polite and considerate. It was simply that there were way more guests than sun beds.

Nice retreat hotel close to airport

This retreat hotel is close to the airport. Argostoli is about 20 mins drive. Room was spacious with a small kitchen. Access to beach is a short 2 min drive from hotel. Staff was attentive and gave us useful travel tips and driving directions. Restaurant menu offered limited choices but we were able to pre-order seafood dishes in advance and the hotel chef then ordered from the local fish market. We noticed water to contain sediment not sure if because of water filtering or water salt issues.

Hidden gem on the most beautiful Greek Island

We had an amazing 4-night stay at Leivatho while visiting the beautiful island of Kefalonia. The hotel is located 15 minutes from the airport and the hotel proactively arranged a taxi for us both to and from. From the moment we stepped foot on the property, we were enchanted by both the grounds and staff, run by the incredible Maria. Our room was very spacious with a private outdoor patio. We ended up eating 2 dinners at the restaurant in addition to the amazing daily breakfast included in the rates.

The hotel is close to 2 amazing beaches and there are several cute tavernas within walking distance. Overall we had a very lovely stay and will be returning as soon as we get the chance!

Perfect for Airport.

Flights, Late in or early out then this is the place to stay, 10 min taxi ride from the airport at Euro 18. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was good with freshly squeezed orange juice which is always a bonus. Would certainly stay again. More expensive than nearby hotels but worth it. Enjoy.

An amazingly nice hotel with a beautiful pool. The rooms are very cool and have a basic cooking facility with a decent fridge for cold drinks etc.
Breakfast was excellent (buffet style) and while we didn’t have dinner there the menu looked good.
The hotel is a short (but steep) walk from a beach with a couple of restaurants and a beach bar (we stayed in late July).
We are looking forward to staying here again!!

Very big room but the third bed was unacceptable! The amenities were fine but breakfast was rather poor for this price rate. Very little room in the shade for breakfast takers and you had to wait until someone left. The parking lot was not properly developed and it was full of weed. The road to the parkig lot was not paved. The wifi did not always work and you could not use your own data because the reception was very poor!
On the other hand, the pool was nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location though was difficult to get to.

How do I start. When we showed up we were greeted with a fresh squeezed lemonade from the garden. They were extremely friendly and the staff knew exactly when we were going to arrive thanks to excellent communication. Nikos also stood out as a kind and attentive host.

The room was exactly as we had specified in the booking and the floors were still drying a little after a fresh cleaning. The hotel decor is very industrial/shic with sharp lines and bright colors against the dark grey of the concrete. It reminds me of a building you might see James Bond walking into and out of.

The pool was excellent and access was always easy. You can walk in and around the grounds and the facility with ease and nobody appears offset by you just being present. We had spritzes made at the bar next to the pool most afternoons and an outstanding fresh greek breakfast every morning. I really cannot think of one thing to complain about.

Parking for a compact rental car is easy and you can take one of two routes away from the hotel for whatever daily adventures you are going to go on. The beach is about a 5 minute walk down a steep grade but its all paved. Fine for young people. Could be tricky for the less physically adaptable.

As far as location goes, you are on the south end of the island. It's about a 10 minute drive to nearby Lassi or Argostoli. Sammi is about 25-30 minutes and Fiskardo on the north side is about 1 hour if you don't stop.

Tranquil and restful hotel

This is a fantastic family run hotel that prides itself on putting the visitor first, and it shows. The Hotel was very peaceful and tranquil and although fully booked, felt like it was nearly empty as you never felt in a crowd. The personal service you get from every member of staff is a stand out feature and the hotel sits in sculpted grounds full of butterfly's flitting from bush to bush. Advertised amenities weren’t as good as we expected and in some cases falsely advertised. The gym, sauna and breakfast were quite bad. The advertised bbq and jazz nights did not exist.

Regarding the breakfast in particular; the cooked food was always cold and had been left out for far too long while some of the cold food was stale.

The staff are very friendly and inviting and the pool is a good feature, however we booked the trip for the amenities, bbq and jazz nights so it’s no surprise we were disappointed.

Wonderful hotel and staff - we’ll be back!

We had a fantastic, relaxing week in beautiful Kefalonia and were very lucky to be based in this modern, attractive hotel with beautiful plants and flowers helping it to almost merge into the landscape. Communication from the hotel both before our arrival and during our stay was first class thanks to the professional and friendly style of the staff, but special mention must go to Nikos, whose welcoming smile greeted us every morning at reception on the way to breakfast!
The amenities are fantastic and the pool area in particular was a relaxing haven to enjoy the sunshine from. The cooked breakfast was not really to our taste, but there were more than ample other breakfast items and we started every day very well fed. The local wasps unfortunately also liked the breakfast, but the staff were always helpful in dealing with them if they were getting too much of a problem - can’t ask more than that!
A really nice beach and two good tavernas are a five minute walk away. We had a hire car delivered to us, enabling us to explore the rest of the island. The room (sea view D8) was perfect for our needs and offered privacy, beautiful views, a comfortable bed and great shower!!
Hard to find anything to really criticise - will be recommending Leivatho to friends and family!!

The Real summer escape

Fourth year here because it provides the perfect mix of quiet, simple , understated hotel apartments with well designed pool , never busy , usually empty. Very good beach , short walk down the hill with traditional bar and chatter on one stretch and around the corner the almost deserted, adventure beach . Just like my Cornwall beaches as a kid but hot !
Much the same hotel staff each year , much like rarely seen family. Simple, well priced all day menu , hardly need to stray far .

The Leivatho Hotel has much to commend it, the architecture, size and chilled out vibe were just right and for the most part the staff were friendly, relaxed and helpful. Our room had a pleasant picture-framed view to the sea, which was well worth the extra cost. The only real gripe I have is being asked to buy beach towels!

Fabulous!

If you are after a peaceful and tranquil holiday then this is the hotel for you. It is set in an environment with lush and colourful vegetation with beautiful views over the clear and turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea. A very pleasant place to be when you are eating breakfast or having a snack.
The breakfast provided is very good,with lots of choice including cereals, croissants, fresh fruit, cold meats, salad and eggs and the Greek yoghurt and honey is delicious.
Rooms have their own balcony, are of a good size and are cleaned daily..
The swimming pool is not that big, but it is of an adequate size with plenty of sun loungers and with towels being provided by the hotel too.
The customer service is exemplary with all staff being friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Nikos, who really went the extra mile because he was so helpful and warm making our holiday extra special by answering all my questions, organising day trips as well as providing use of a beach umbrella and mats for no extra charge.
Little touches like this do definitely make a difference.

Junior Suite M10 a great place to stay

I stayed in the Junior Suite which is a unique and architecturally designed room. There is nothing like it on the island and it is a wonderful space which so many interesting design features. Outdoor space and privacy is another plus. There is only one Junior Suite M10 like this. The rooms in the main block are very nice but similar to a modern 4 star hotel. The other communal spaces including reception, bar and restaurant are also very well designed. Staff are very helpful. Two local taverns and a stunning beach are 5 mins easy walk. Great location either for a few days rest or as a base to explore the island. Also only 10 mins from airport however feels very remote and exclusive.

We have just got back from a fantastic holiday in Kefalonia. The Leivatho was the most perfect base for our stay. We were made to feel so welcome right from the start! The staff are lovely and the hotel is immaculate. A short walk down the lane takes you to a beautiful beach with a very chilled beach bar. There are two tavernas on the beach, but I would really recommend eating at the hotel. The food is freshly cooked and delicious! This hotel absolutely hits the spot every time. An easy five star review!!

Real gem of a hotel...

If you are looking for somewhere truly relaxing, within easy reach of the airport, a beautiful setting, five minutes from the beach, including a lovely bar and couple of tavernas then this place is perfect! The capital Argostoli is only a short drive away if you want to explore further. Personally, the hotel was so fantastic with great food & a quiet pool, we enjoyed spending most of our time there. The staff were amazing and so friendly, doing everything they could to make sure we had an unforgettable stay. We would definitely return!

Almost space age hotel

This hotel was a surprise, you drive down twisty country dusty lanes, it is so discreet, you can not see it until you are in it. There are two really nice restaurants on the beach, a short walk away, but no shops, So do your shopping on the way or you have to get back into a hot car (they could do with a pergola for shade) for a bottle of water. Although it has nothing to do with vernacular architecture, it is hidden with sedum roofs and has beautifully landscaped and planted gardens. There is a huge curved glass wall that leads into a vast reception area with a sweeping curving desk. Perhaps sometimes there are coach loads, who fill it, but it was empty when ever we went through. All the rooms are in separate wings. Ours was more typical with white washed walls and little balconies. The balconies are carefully designed that you can not see any body else on there's. The rooms are huge, simple, clean, cool and had we been staying longer we would have been happy to have spent time there and cooked meals etc without cabin fever. The other wing was more space age architecture, a lot of glass and zinc roofs.
There were children by the pool, a triangular strangely cramped space with loungers on grass. Once the children got too annoying we went to the great beach. This is the only beach we found in the whole of the island with waves, we were surprised there were no surfers, so you have to be confident to get through them if you want a proper swim. We would return to this hotel.

Welcoming paradise, close to beach

From the moment we arrived at Leivatho Hotel we were greeted like old friends. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The beach was around 300 metres away - it probably took us 5 minutes to walk there and when we did it was incredible! The sea was so clear and blue. You can rent loungers and umbrellas on the beach during peak tourist season (10 Euros for the day), but you will need to bring your own beach towel as the hotel, understandably, don't allow you to take their beach towels out of their grounds. The beach is also serviced with a bar and two beach front tavernas. I am Greek, but live in England, so I know a good taverna when I seen one. We ate at the two tavernas every night, no need to go anywhere else as they were both excellent! Leivatho arranged a private day trip tour of the island for us which was also very pleasant. The only thing that niggled me slightly was that the air conditioning unit blew over the head of the bead. It's a personal preference, but I don't like cold air blowing on my head at night. We had a sea view room and it was very relaxing to sit out in the early evening with a drink in hand. Our room had a kitchenette so you can bring drinks and food back to the room if you don't fancy heading out at night.

Fantastic trip! Great staff and great food!
Near lovely beach and two great restaurants serving sea food and all the Greek staples!
August is apparently the time of year for wasps. And there were a few that bothered you at breakfast, but that really can't be helped. You get used to it and the staff did all they could to keep them away.

Lovely hotel set in attractive gardens overlooking the sea. The beach is a 5 minute stroll down a steep hill. A very relaxing holiday but wished we had hired a car to see more of the island, and to get to the shops. (The walk when the temperature is 32C is not comfortable) Staff were friendly and helpful. Will go back.

Unique hotel of the highest standard

This hotel is set in a quiet and delightful area only about 300 metres from the most delightful sandy beach with some splendid swimming and two great tavernas. The room are spacious and very clean and the staff could not be more helpful. There is a great swimming pool at the hotel but person ally we prefer swimming in the warm Mediterranean and sitting under a sunshade on the beach. This beach was not overcrowded during our visit.

Away from hustle and bustle

This is a great place for people who want to relax in a peaceful and quiet environment. The hotel is located in a village not far from the airport (3.5 km according to our sat nav). Renting a car is recommended if you want to move around. (Note to Russian tourists: Europcar refuses to accept Russian driver's licenses.) There is a public beach 3 min walk from the hotel. (Please keep in mind that beach beds and umbrellas cost EUR 8 per day for two, and the hotel does not provide beach towels.)
The wireless internet is quite slow, especially in the evening. The fastest is via connection to the open WiFi in the administrative building.
The in-house estaurant is very good. The chef is creative, the menu is focused and interesting. There are a couple of restaurants in the walking distance, next to the beach.

We had the most beautiful views, colours, light and friendly welcoming staff at the hotel. Food at the hotel was very good quality and home made. We particularly liked the squid appetiser with black tarama and couscous.
There were 2 tavernas and bar/cafe and beach within 5 mins of walking, which were also very good.
The staff were always available when you needed them. Friendly kind and nothing was ever too much trouble.

Quality hotel close to beach

The hotel is only 10-15 minute car journey from the airport and is perfectly situated with stunning views of the countryside and sea. The hotel is set in nice grounds and is in an isolated location, so perfect for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. We found the staff to be very accommodating and friendly.

The pool area is a good size with a number of sunbeds/loungers and towels supplied by the hotel. We were impressed with the layout and design of the hotel which blended in well with the grounds.

The room was a very good size and layout with a kitchenette. The room was comfortable and the provided great view.

We ate several evening meals in the hotel and the food was of a high standard. The dining area is set outside under a canopy and also offers great views.

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the hotel.

Excellent hotel near Avithos Beach

Had a fabulous time staying at this hotel for one week in late September, situated less than 5 mins walk from nearest beach. The hotel is really well designed with a high specification and even the 'basic' studio rooms are very spacious with a full kitchen & great shower. Received a lovely welcome with local wine & on the last day were given a late check out which really helps when you have a night return flight. Transport is required if you want to get out & about around the island (which I would recommend) and to the nearest town. Would love to go back & stay in an even bigger room next time!

Hotel in the middle of no where

I would not advise this hotel, it had no atmosphere the pool is tiny the beach nothing special and it is literally in the middle of nowhere

Beautiful hotel in herb gardens. Close to beach.

Quiet location. Perfect pool. Lovely staff who serve iced water by the pool; no request necessary. Very close to the beach. For more sand, take a short trek across the rocks to the right.

Fabulous hotel, amazing location, a must visit.

Had a fantastic week at the Leivatho Hotel, highly recommend staying here. Wonderful building design and location, modernity with luxury and a very special location. All of the staff are warm and welcoming and nothing too much trouble. The breakfast is varied and great quality and the chef is to be commended for high quality gorgeous meals. Avithos beach is only 5 mins walk away too. This is a special place.

Probably time of year as hotel very quiet so lacked atmosphere. However, close to lovely beach with two good tavernas.
