The cleanliness and staff at the hotel are excellent. The pool is perfect and the location is convenient for the airport but still quite rural. It’s like Greece 30 years ago.
The hotel needs updating- the bathrooms although clean and functioning, are old and tired. The beds are basic. The breakfast too is basic.

Old box TV, no channels working, a waste of time having it in the room. Furniture in room rundown, no clothes hangers. The bed was very comfortable.
Swimming pool was nice, needs more seating areas & lounge beds. No restaurant/food, snacks or water available on site, you need to drive to get these. Dinner & Breakfast needs to be pre booked in advance when not purchased in a package.
Internet was ok. Heaps of parking available.

The hotel is huge, has a really nice pool area with lots of trees, is very close to the airport, and has two great beaches within 10 minutes walking distance.

However - none of this makes it worth the stay. It is very dirty, our room had pubic hair on the floor, and sand and other dirt everywhere. The mattress was beyond smelly. There were no mattress or pillow protectors, and the mattresses clearly haven’t been changed for years. You could literally smell cheesy sweat through the sheet. I had to sleep on a towel and then my dressing gown throughout the stay to make it okay. The bathroom was also terrible. There is a drain in the bathroom which water rises out of every time you shower or flush the toilet. We were literally hit with eggy sewage smell when we returned from dinner one of the days, which blended with the already really musty and dirty smell of the room. There were nails sticking out the floor which thankfully we noticed upon arrival to avoid stunning our bare feet. The dinner at the hotel is €17, so we avoided that as you can get really good food in local places for as cheap as €11. There is also a serious lack of hand washing / toilets - the only outdoor toilets by the pool don’t have a sink to wash hands, so you have to either use the toilets back in by reception, or go back up to your room. The area around the pool is also not cleaned - at least within the 5 days we were there! There was litter and items from other guests left behind.

Best 3 nights ever!!! All staff were really kind. Building is a bit old but nobody goes on holiday to stay indoors anyways. Also would’ve liked there to be more options at breakfast but other than that o would stay again

Positives: the pool and personal balcony was lovely, air conditioning worked well, most staff were welcoming and helpful, there is a safe in reception which is easy to use, we looked forward to breakfast every day, close to beaches and many food places, half hour walk to the airport, fridge in the rooms was useful, we were able to stay at the pool after signing out, stray cats were adorable!
Negatives: our soaps were replaced by cleaners on our second day even though they had barely been used, the shower isn't amazing but is useable
Useful to know: dinner would have been €17 each (cheaper to eat out), only hand-soap and shower soap/shampoo is provided so bring conditioner, your nearest shop is about 10 minutes walk away
Would recommend!!

There are planes flying close overhead- they dont come over early or late /about 5 per day

Yes the hotel wants updating - however, it is authentic and any issues are swiftly rectified - we didnt have any issues.

A mosquito detereant is available to use in each room.

The pool is warm, there is no diving or jumping as no lifeguards present.

There is a children's pool - children under 12 need to be supervised.

If you are looking for a relaxing, nice time and as the day goes buy, with poolside bar and food this is the place for you.

There is aircon in the rooms, phones and roomservice is daily.

There is also a TV and fridge - no kettle provided (we didn't need one)

Greek law states you must pay a local room tax oer night 1.3 euros

The bus service timetable is in reception- the times are when it leaves its starting point, not when it gets to you.

If you look out towards the sea, if you see the bus come round the road near there - you habe 5 minutes to walk to the bus stop out of the driveway turn right and its on the left to go to Argostoĺion or airport.

Armmes beach 700 yards - 15 minute walk (as receptionist for directions/ take note of where you are walking as buses and cars do go there too and all roads look similar)

Charming old hotel

Great value for money yes it is old but its very clean and the staff are lovely... the food in the restaurant in the eveinkng is traditional greek and to die for very very well cooked. Would a 100percent return. Recommend for a cheap budget break

Pay the extra money and stay away

The hotel room was clean. The cleaning ladies were lovely. However, the hotel itself? I walked up the stairs for two weeks with an exoskeleton of a bug just sitting there. I passed it everyday for almost two weeks. It never moved. The breakfast was extremely basic, nothing was fresh besides the tomatoes and cucumber. The boiled eggs were over boiled to the point there were large black spots in them. The juice was bad too. The beds were the worst part, they probably haven’t been changed since the 70s when this place opened. My neighbors alarm clock woke me up, if it hadn’t been that it would be the constant slamming of doors. The bus routes they have printed are outdated. The new one at the Argostoli bus stop has different times. The front desk people were very unfriendly for the most part and not very helpful. Wifi? Forget about it, you won’t have connection through this hotel. Which really sucks because you can’t even get 4G or 3G.

I have three good things about this hotel. The two beaches either side of the hotel and I was able to make friends with the other guests by our mutual disappointment on the poor condition of the hotel.

Really awful dated hotel.
Dirty swimming pool and sunloungers that you cannot move to a comfy position.
The room itself is just about ok, beds in 4 walls with a small tv from the 1980s.
The bathtub in the bathroom was very grubby and I could not even put our 3 year old in there to wash her.
We were booked in for 5 nights but checked out after 1 night and went elsewhere.
Really disappointed.

Staff were extremely helpful and kind. They went out of their way to make my stay a good one. Accommodation was very old & not in the best shape. With the airport being so close the airplanes that fly overhead are very loud, coming about every half hour. Overall decent stay.

Staff are fabulous!
Pool is great, location stunning between two safe family beaches. Both walkable with cafe facilities. Bus stop at the end of the hotel drive so car hire is not essential.
The hotel has a stunning veranda for evening drinks, looking out over the pool and ocean beyond.
Ammes is safe to walk around with a few tavernas and a couple of shops for essentials.
Don,t expect the ritz this is a greek hotel that has seen better days but the staff are fantastic, food is greek which is lovely. As with a buffet you can pick and choose what you like.
We loved our stay, again.

It was a great experience for a basic hotel. The staff was amazingingly kind, helpful and so cheerful. If any problem occurred, they would solve it very fast. The hotel has very good connections to the buses with a station right in front of the main access. It is also very close situated to the port and the airport.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about my stay at the Irinna! I had a fantastic week and it was perfect for me. It was budget friendly, yet offered so much. It was in a peaceful village within walking distance of THREE gorgeous beaches, lovely restaurants, and a couple of markets. The rest of the island was easily accessible by public bus, with a bus stop right outside the driveway to the hotel. I had a beautiful room with a balcony and sea view, which was immaculately cleaned every day. There were 2 pools, a poolside restaurant/bar, and an indoor bar (with indoor/outdoor seating) that was open at night. I enjoyed the live music my first and last nights there!!!! What really made my stay great though was the staff! Pavlos and Anna at the main desk were always so helpful and friendly, and always made me feel welcome. Panos, the evening bartender was also a pleasure to talk to and helped me with my conversational Greek. My stay at the Irinna was such a memorable experience. I have fallen in love with Kefalonia, and when I return, I will be booking at the Irinna again! The only suggestion is that they consider updating the locks on the hotel room doors. They are a bit dated and can be a bit tricky to work with. A couple of times I had to call for help to get both in and out of my room which could be a bit of a safety hazard.

This is a very tired, old hotel. There is a nice pool, but that's the main feature. The food options are limited and the rooms are very tired. In particular the bed and pillows were extremely hard and uncomfortable. We stayed because we had a 6am flight the next day and it is next to the airport. This is the only reason I would stay. The Albanian gentleman on reception night duty was lovely and drove us to the airport at 5.15am when it transpired the receptionist from the night before hadn't booked our early taxi as requested.

Set your expectations right

Irinna is ok budget hotel, which could use some improvements. The property itself is great, but rooms and the building is not very well maintained. The pool is big, but sunbeds plastic and anything but confy. Breakfast was very dissapointing as even the coffee was bad. However the reception is very service oriented and nice to deal with probably best part of the hotel!

The hotel is rated a 3 star and that's about right. It was clean and the staff were good. But it's old and in need of some upgrading especially the beds and bathrooms. The good thing was it had air con but the bad thing was the wifi didn't work anywhere except the reception area and even then it was so slow that I couldn't upload photos to social media. I have my own internet in Greece but there is little to no reception in that area which is hard when you need the GPS to navigate around. The surrounding restaurants had terrible bland food. There is a local beach which would be a 20 minute walk and a pool in the hotel which seemed clean but once again, was old and need of upgrading...specifically the ladders which are accidents waiting to happen. I also went in peak season and the prices were a total rip off for the quality of the hotel.

Needs alot of TLC but it was comfortable enough. Nice pool bar food, very friendly and helpful staff, overall a great location, Ammes beach is just a short walk. There is also a bus stop right outside that goes in to Lassi, and Argostoli. Plus other locations. A few lovely restaurants are within reasonable walking distance from the hotel too. Fantastic views of the sea and coast line, especially great for sunset shots. Would definitely return.

Great for a relaxing getaway

The staff at this hotel are great, very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hotel itself is very good for it's rating. The facilities are simple, clean but a little tired and dated. The rooms are perfectly adequate with aircon, a fridge, tv, and basic bathroom. The pool is excellent, sunbeds are just enough in number but certainly in need of replacing with a number of them broken or in need of a good scrub. If staying half board, the evening menu is repetitive but quality and choice is reasonable. Not much in the way of evening entertainment but nearby tavernas provide alternative food and music options. Milos taverna is superb, the cocktails at Legends bar are excellent and the beach at Ammes is beautiful with ample sunbeds for hire. Yes the planes do land at the end of the beach and come in low over the hotel but this was a source of fascination and amusement rather than intrusive. Well worth hiring a car to explore more of the island. If you're looking for a quiet get away in a simple, clean and comfortable hotel with a small number of nearby alternative venues then I highly recommend it. If you want lots of night life choices then this is not the place for you. I would definitely stay here again (and there were a number of return visitors doing just that).

Irinna Hotel is basic but good.

Hotel is served by a good bus service to Argostolli and Lassi. Clean and basic hotel is well placed for a walk out to three nearby beeches and many bars and restaurants Good light breakfast sitting outside watching the planes go over, listening and hearing the reverse thrust and we say \"he's down\" but nice to see. Would stay there again.

Next to airport and noisy. Never been so close to a plane under carriage. bUT taxi still 20 euros. They do this flat rate thing for anywhere out of the airport regardless of distance. Hotel is like walking into a 70s time warp. It’s weird. Pool is nice. Food at pool bar and breakfast inedible. Do not book this!! The money they charge you could stay in much much nicer places. Shame on them. This is not the best of Greece. The best think I can say is there is a bus stop outside to enable you to get the hell out of there. Oh yes it’s also in the middle of nowhere. Unlesss plane spotting is your thing.

Lovely views but tired and old

Lovely views, quiet and in a great location. The hotel is old and run down and needs much maintenance as there were safety issues both in our room and around the hotel and the pool ladder. The bed was really uncomfortable so we requested two foam single matrices and put them together. You had to hold the shower head to shower, the water was hard and the soap didn't lather. The staff do a great job with what they have.
The pool is wonderful,everything is clean and they have a lovely upstairs area to have a drink.
There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which was fantastic as we didn't hire a car but could get to all the places that we wanted.
There is a mini market and tavernas within walking distance which served great food but no bakery in case you wanted something small to eat for lunch.
The beaches were within walking distance so another bonus.
The breakfast is monotonous and boring with no variation.

Good hotel for the price.

The location is good, Svoronata is a small village but there are good tavernas around. The hotel is ok but the bathroom had a very small bath which we couldn’t sit and even hard to stand up for a shower.

Another fabulous holiday at this hotel

Holiday in June 18. Staff are the best, nothing to much trouble. Very friendly, helpful and fun.
Pool area is great, beds and umbrella's available. Clean and relaxing. Pool bar serves excellent food and welcoming drinks. Bar in hotel has a lovely terrace for reading, relaxing and watching the swallows swoop in the pool for drinks. The area is quiet and safe. Really easy to get to minimarkets, bars, restaurants and two excellent beaches. Bus stops at the end of the drive for easy access to other parts of the island.
Hotel is in the flightpath but this is 20 seconds of noise, and is more of an interest than a hindrance It did not bother us.
Food in the hotel was very good and plentiful; We stayed half board and it suited us well.
Rooms are basic, cleaned everyday, plenty of towels, shower great, fridge and air con all included.
This was our second stay and we will be returning again in the future.
Would recommend for relaxed hols in the sun.

Really relaxed, comfy stay

Some reviews had said this hotel is looking a bit tired? Well it might be in places but that is also part of its charm. Yes there are more up to date things that could be done and might well be done but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff are brilliant, the pool is huge and kept very clean along with the room service...fresh towels, soap and shower gel each day and everything is spotless. It’s also surprisingly quiet, yes you do get the planes flying over quite low as they come into land but it’s not constant by any means and you soon get used to it. Fine breakfast and good pool bar for snacks and drink and a well stocked bar for evenings with a brilliant barman. Rooms had comfy beds with memory foam toppers kept spotless each day with free air conditioning.Free wi if as well and we were easily able to extend our stay because we had a late night departure, 15minutes by taxi to airport.What more do you need. We hope to go back as do the friends we made there. Superb.

Simple, clean and friendly.

We booked our stay for outside the main holiday season and so our stay was unhurried and peaceful. The hotel is very clean and friendly and situated within 10 minutes walk of some excellent taverners. Breakfast was typical Greek continental style, always fresh and plenty of choice. The hotel is on the main approach to the airport so planes fly low overhead. This did not spoil our enjoyment at all. There is an excellent bus service into Argostoli, runs throughout the day into early evening. Very nice beaches can be reached within 10 to 20 minutes depending on which direction you set off. Sitting in one of the tavernas looking out to the west provides for beautiful sunset views..

So We read the reviews before we left , which are mixed, and if you are looking for a five star hotel you will be disappointed. However, once you get past Showergate (OMG! - you mean I have to hold the shower head?) or the fact that the staff are naturally friendly rather than fawning, everything about this hotel becomes charming. It does need upgrading, but money is tight and other hotels around are similar. However, the location is beautiful, you get a wonderful sea view, - close to two beaches - there are great tavernas 5 minutes walk away - the pool is large and fine - rooms are clean and have fridge and aircon. A quiet holiday and great for families. Food not five star, and no entertainment in evening, but, hey, go out.. Surprised no reviews mentioned planes - you are close to runway, but only a few per day and the local sport is to video them coming down on beach. We will go again.

Last minute booking

We had a really lovely week here and I could have stayed a 2nd week. Admittedly the hotel is in need of refurbishment but it is clean and has the most fantastic beautiful pool area. Here you do not need to fight or get up early just to get a sunbed - even if you want to wander down to the pool in the afternoon you will get a sunbed - it is that relaxed here. Yes there are the planes flying over the pool area but they are so few and far in between it did not bother me, in fact I found it fascinating seeing them from the pool!
The plus side on this is that your transfer from the airport to the hotel is only around 15 miniutes so no long hot coach transfer. I would recommend you try this hotel for the quiet, laid back, relaxed holiday it is with no fancy mod cons. It is also very central to a few good taverna and a couple of bars and 2 fantastic beautiful beaches. If you are looking for a more busier evening or day you can easily catch the bus to Argostoli where there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops as where the Irinna Hotel is the area is very quiet - hence why you will come back home very relaxed :0)

Old style charm on a budget

With a large pool, within 5 minutes of beaches,and a stones throw from the airport this hotel has an old fashioned charm and really helpful friendly staff. As a budget option we accepted the tiny shower and rather dated decor.The location was good for exploring the island.

Beautiful pool - an oasis surrounded by flowers. Very quiet hotel. Close to many wonderful tavernas and two beaches. Quick airport transfers. All in all slow key, tranquil setting for a peaceful holiday on a gorgeous Greek island.

We wanted a quiet area, pool, and walking distance to a nice beach, restaurants and maybe a shop. We got all of that and more. (With the exception of planes flying directly over head, which did not bother us as they quickly passed and were limited) Bus stop at end of drive to go to Lassi and capital if required. Walking distance to two safe beaches with beds and brolleys. Sand and crystal clear water. Drinks and refreshments available on the beach. Many restaurants within walking distance. Small supermarket for essentials and souvenirs.
The hotel slightly dated but very clean. Fresh towels and linen daily. Tv, air con and fridge in room. Shower hot (don't expect the shower to be on the wall as hand held). Pool was clean with plenty of beds, chairs and shade. Separate children's pool. Pool bar for drinks and lunches. Public part of garden very well kept. Breakfast mainly continental inc fresh fruit. Omlettes, bacon, fried egg available on odd days. Restaurant served a variety of dishes all very tasty and as good as we had at local restaurants. Buffet menu when numbers were suffice with plenty of choice. Lovely bar with terrace for sitting out mid afternoon until late evening. Staff all very very friendly, helpful, could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Don't expect the Ritz, this is Greece, and a 3 star hotel. Close to airport, lovely area, all that we needed.

First up - we had a great week. The positives - the most welcoming of staff; fantastic 30m pool which was very clean; lovely breakfast veranda overlooking nice garden; stylish calm bar with very nice veranda as well. Our room was spacious with excellent air conditioning, new towels daily, and a fantastic view of mountains. The surrounding area is good for families. There are two lovely clean beaches with wonderful fine sand (one is just and good umbrellas (€3.50 for a bed). One is just 800 m away. There are several nice family restaurants within walking distance.
The hotel is old and a little faded but if you look beyond that, you can have a really lovely holiday.

We spent our first holidays in Kefalonia at the Irrina more than 20 years ago, we had several wonderful holidays as a family before going to other places. In more recent years, as a couple, we returned to Svoronata staying in other accommodation. This time, our preferred hotel was full so we tried the Irrina again. Little has changed since our first visit, it does need updating, but the staff were helpful, polite and smiley. Everywhere was clean, the pool is very big and spotless. The breakfast buffet was very good by Greek standards. As always we had a fantastic holiday. The Irrina suited us and we wouldn't hesitate to book it again, if you want somewhere lively with all mod cons, go somewhere else! Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our stay so pleasant.

IRINNA IS 'PEACE' IN GREEK - AND LIVES UP TO IT!

I have stayed at the Irinna Hotel almost every year for the past ten years. The atmosphere is relaxed, warm and ideal for the single traveller, like myself. Although the hotel would be classified as retro from the early 1970s, everything works, the pool is gorgeous and the beaches a short walking distance, where the sea is safe for children and swimming - provided the weather is good and sea not choppy. The restaurant is good and very reasonably priced, and there are plenty of Tavernas within easy walking distance if you want a change of scenery. The area is peaceful - Irinna means 'Peace' in Greek - and it really is!

Enjoy your trip and stay at the Irinna - you never know, I might see you there!

Clean but tired hotel

I got the impression this used to be 4/5 star hotel but due to lack of investment has now slipped to 3.
Staff are very helpful and hotel is clean but maintaince and renovation needed before tired fixtures and fittings become beyond repair.
Still had a great holiday due to location and the fact we only used hotel as a base.

The nicest place ever

It was my sister and I first time to kefalonia. Everything was booked last minute. We had an wonderful welcomed at Irinna Hotel and the staff were lovely and very helpful. It is a beautiful island and I will definitely come to visit. Thank you everyone at Irinna hotel for making our holiday even more delightful!! Everyone there work very hard and they are always smiling and happy to help you!!!

Basic, quiet but very clean and friendly

I stayed here for a week with my friend. Our rooms were basic but cleaned everyday with fresh towels provided on a daily basis also. The hotel has a lovely big pool area that doesn't get too busy. It has surrounding garden areas that are also an added bonus. The hotel provides a basic continental breakfast which suited us. The hotel is situated in a quiet area which is about a 15 minute walk to the nearest beach and about 10 minutes to the nearest restaurant that serves the most delicious traditional Greek food. Overall my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay at the Irinna Hotel and would definitely return.

Great location good value!

Lovely basic accommodation in a good location very close to the airport. Rooms were spotlessly clean, air con was good. Bed linen and fresh towels provided regularly. The breakfast was good.....bread, cereals, ham, cheese, eggs, yoghurt, honey, peaches, coffee, juice, toast, so something for everyone...this hotel is for people looking for peace and quiet, with a fantastic pool, pool bar, although this hotel is under the landing flight path, seeing the planes come in is very interesting!!.

It was a low cost hotel for a reason. The facility is run down. The dinner buffet was pricey cafeteria food. It's not close to a accessible beach.

Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. You do hear airplanes during the day, but not too much at night. The property is clean but could use a little sprucing up. Ammes Beach is very convenient and one of the most reasonably priced beaches on the island (to use umbrellas and chairs).

conveniently placed for airport ,beach and taverna

extremely clean ,lovely garden and pool. On hte other hand ,there is a lovely beach on a cove at walking distance and a few taverna. Staff is very helpful and the place is very quiet.. Would stay there any time. Just 15 minutes from the airport.

The hotel was nice. The pool was great, and it was very close to Sandy Beach. The bathtub was so tiny that you could not have your feet flat. Pretty rough for a husband with size 12's.

Hotell Irinna, Kefalonia

It's time this battered old place was put out of its misery. It is a remnant from the 70s and 80s, when package holidays were at their peak, and now appears totally out of date.

It is a vast place, with rooms of a reasonable size, but the maintenace is very poor. The sink in our room was cracked, the door on to the balcony scraped noisily on the ground, there was a powerful smell of drains whenever the shower was run, and neighbouring rooms were very audible. The food was distinctly ordinary. We were woken at 5.30am by a mistaken wake-up call, and the cleaning maids burst into our room without knocking twice before we left at 10.30am.

The place was largely empty, which added to the general gloom. Not recommended.

la struttura è datata e non sono stati effettuati i necessari lavori di conservazione/aggiornamento.
Alcuni decenni fa doveva essere favolosa.
Del passato conserva una bellissima piscina con solarium e la vastità dei locali: reception, bar, salotti. Grande parcheggio e pineta.
La posizione nell'isola è bellissima, in particolare si trova sul sentiero di discesa dell'aeroporto e si possono osservare da vicino gli aerei in atterraggio (nelle ore notturne non ci sono voli).

Il personale è molto gentile e disponibile,ogni richiesta ci è stata prontamente soddisfatta. Tutta la struttura, compresa la camera, è datata. Avrebbe bisogno di un’ importante ristrutturazione. La colazione è limitata: un solo tipo di dolce, frutta sciroppata ( solo pesche), due tipi di cereali, …. Va bene per chi non ha troppo pretese.

Avons séjourné à l'hotel Irinna à l occasion de notre anniversaire de mariage. La direction nous organisé une soirée anniversaire sur fond de musique Bouzouki . Vraiment très sympa. Côté hébergement : chambre spacieuse avec vue sur piscine et mer.

Fint hotel til et par overnatninger

Hvis man bare skal have et sted at overnatte er det fint nok. Meget tæt på lufthavnen, flyene flyver forbi hotellet, men msn hører dem ikke. Aircondition er dårlig. Sengene er meget hårde. Altanen er svær at bruge, da aircondition står derude og er meget varm. Morgenmaden er dårlig, vi spiste den en dag ud af 3, de 2 andre dage spiste vi ude. Poolen er fin. Hotellet er som sådan fint, men lettere slidt. Personalet er søde og venlige
